Our Mission

We REACH out to our congregation, community, and the world.

We TEACH the word of God as provided in the Holy-Scripture.

We SEND our members and missionaries to be witnesses to God’s grace and His promise of eternal life.

Worship Services

Sunday at Shalimar

Traditions: 8AM & 11AM

Meet us in the Sanctuary as we celebrate through the rich traditions of our faith. Such as hymns led by organ and piano, seasonal vestments, and Traditional Methodist liturgy. Our Chancel Choir leads the 11AM service.

Connect: 9:30AM

Join us in the Sanctuary as we engage in a fourfold service of praise, service of the Word, Holy Communion with candle stations of prayer, and sending forth. Worship is a blend of contemporary praise songs and upbeat hymns.

Freedom: 11:07AM

Located in the Family Life Center Gym as we come together and worship through modern music, Fellowship time, and listen to an inspirational message in a contemporary atmosphere.

Message by Rev. Matt Langford

Worship Led by Ben Savage and The Freedom Team

Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”

God answered, “I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.”

But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?”

God replied to Moses, “I am who i am. Say this to the people of Israel: I am has sent me to you.”

SPRING CLEANING

Our Trustees committee is hosting a campus work day on Saturday, March 11 at 8am to get our grounds looking top notch for the Easter season! We would love for you to join us and rake some leaves, plant some flowers, and make our campus extra beautiful this year!

SEVEN DEADLY SINS BIBLE STUDY

We have our Lent Bible Study “Seven Deadly Sins” held every Tuesday during Lent at 9am or 6:30pm in the Music Suite. Starts this Tuesday, February 28 and ends Tuesday, April 11.

Philip’s Focus

As we had two moving services for Ash Wednesday, one of the elements of worship was a pastoral prayer. I’m including a copy of this prayer for our 40-Day Journey of Lent. Also, the following prayer petitions with the line “Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer” stirs in the depths of our souls. May everyone have a blessed time of Lent!

Lord, when we have worshipped the creation more than the Creator and become too attached to treasures on earth instead of treasures in heaven.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, we thank you for your faithfulness through the past year. In the times we have not thanked you, praised you and remembered you. Lord, we take a moment to give you thanks.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, for the times we have listened to other voices but not your voice.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, for those in our world and that do not know Jesus as Lord we pray for missionaries for protection, strength, and courage as they share the good news.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, for those in our world in peril from natural disasters as Turkey and Syria, and war as Ukraine, we lift our brothers and sisters in prayer.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, we give thanks for revival breaking out at Asbury and other places. We pray for revival in our church and community!

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, we pray for the people in Shalimar, Fort Walton Beach, and the Emerald Coast that do not know you as Lord may we be a Beacon of Jesus for this community to know Jesus.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, we lift our leadership beyond the local church, The Bishop and Cabinet

Ash Wednesday & 40 Days of Lent Prayer

who are meeting this week determining who will be the next Lead Pastor of Shalimar UMC

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, for our pastors and staff who work in times of uncertainty and the unknown, keep them protected, give them strength, and courage. And we remember their spouses and families…

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, we lift Shalimar United Methodist Church. We pray for those in lay leadership and the congregation to keep eyes on You and keep following your Holy Spirit.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, when we have allowed denominational matters to be all that matters forgive us.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, for the times we have lost control of our tongues and said things that should not have been said.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, when we have not treated all your children as a child of God. When we have had a log in our own eye instead of love.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lord, may we bow and proclaim the name of Jesus in these 40 days.

Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer…

Lead our prayers of this season dear Lord. Lead us closer to the feet of Jesus! Amen.

Shalom, Philip

May’s Marriage Workshop!

We are pleased to launch our third series in our year of prayer, announced by Bishop Graves upon his reassignment to the Alabama-West Florida Conference. This next series will focus on the Lenten journey and includes the First Sunday of Lent through Palm/Passion Sunday. For each Sunday of Lent, the conference has provided a scripture passage, prayer, prayer theme, and original music.

Dr. Darrin Isaac, Director of Music Ministries at Pt. Washington UMC, prepared our musical selections. We are grateful to him for his dedication to this series.
