Worship Services
Sunday at Shalimar
Traditions: 8AM & 11AM
Meet us in the Sanctuary as we celebrate through the rich traditions of our faith. Such as hymns led by organ and piano, seasonal vestments, and Traditional Methodist liturgy. Our Chancel Choir leads the 11AM service.
Connect: 9:30AM
Join us in the Sanctuary as we engage in a fourfold service of praise, service of the Word, Holy Communion with candle stations of prayer, and sending forth. Worship is a blend of contemporary praise songs and upbeat hymns.
Freedom: 11:07AM
Located in the Family Life Center Gym as we come together and worship through modern music, Fellowship time, and listen to an inspirational message in a contemporary atmosphere.

“I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.
“The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again. No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what myFather has commanded.”
- John 10:14-18 NLT

Even More LENT LUMINOSITY: PT. 3
Well, the “Big Dance” is here! March Madness will be in full swing with 64 teams becoming 32, 32 teams becoming the Sweet 16, the Sweet 16 becoming the Elite 8, and winners of the Elite 8 will become the Final Four. On April 3rd, one university will emerge as the champion! As I have been writing for weeks, we have our own version of March Madness at Shalimar United Methodist Church. I have called it Lent Luminosity which will also conclude in early April. Let me preview the next few weeks for you!
LUMINOSITY means the total amount of radiant electromagnetic power emitted by Light. Our boss is the “Light of the World,” so our light emitted will be off the charts and through the roof! Yes, wear your spiritual sunglasses as we share the light of Jesus during Lent! This year could be the most LUMINOUS Lent yet!
On Sunday, March 19th, the message will offer teaching from John 10:1-17 with the I AM saying “I AM the Good Shepherd.” In this message at 8:00 and 11:00, I will also teach about the connected IAM saying “I AM the Door.” These messages will bring strong Biblical teachings of Jesus and His Sheep at all our worship services. We hope you will be present for these I AM teachings in worship by either Matt at 9:30 and 11: O7 or myself at our Traditions Services.
The 7 Deadly Sins Study continues this Tuesday, March 21 at 9AM and 6:30PM. This week’s sin is GREED. There is so much teaching in the Bible about the pitfalls of Greed. We will hear about those teachings, and learning Greed is more than just a money and possession issue. Learn more and join us this Tuesday in the Music Suite.
The following week will offer another momentous week of Biblical teaching on Sunday and Tuesday. On Sunday, March 26th, we will focus on our next I AM saying of Jesus which is from John 14:5 “I AM the WAY, TRUTH, and LIFE.” In this teaching, Jesus offers us the best three-point sermon ever! On Tuesday, March 28th, we our 7 Deadly Sin focus will be “LUST.”
Our YOUTH DINNER THEATER will be on the nights of March 31 and April 1. This is no April’s Fool! It’s a dude ranch-themed done-it with country music by Dollie Parton, Johnny Cash, and Alabama. You will want to get your tickets to enjoy and support our youth choir. Doors open at 6PM and the show begins at 6:30PM.
On Sunday, April 2, we worship on Palm Sunday and Begin our Holy Week Journey! There will be more about these special services written in the upcoming weeks!
Our church brackets of plans are all prepared, as we move into the last weeks of lent. We already know Jesus wins in the final four with victories over sin, the Evil One, and death. The victory is already won!
Hope to see you Sunday as we learn more of the “I AM” sayings of Jesus in worship together!
Shalom, Philip
