2022 has brought the countryside many blessings with rain, good crops, bountiful feed and pastures that have rebounded and look like there wasn’t a dry year ahead of it. With the sun and moisture, the cattle had a bloom on them like no other impressing as our travels take us up and down the road all over Western Canada. This set up a great summer selecting cattle to sell this fall and for the Form and Function Female Sale. It is hands down the best set front to back that’s coming to Lloydminster in December! In the markets today, whether its commercial or purebred there’s always demand for high end genetics and they bring a premium. Reflecting on the various herds that we get through every summer and over the last 20 years, the cow families that have become favorites and become the first question getting out of the truck “what did she have this year” is always exciting. Getting the right ones picked out, seeing their pictures come in makes this sport a lot of fun to then present these genetics to you the buyer.
Whether you’re a 4H member looking for a project or a fellow breeder looking to add that heifer calf with the show stopping look to her, the quality is here. In the bred heifer department they are just flat out sexy and are carrying services to many prominent bulls in the industry. Have a look! Join us Tuesday evening for a presale social and evaluate the offering at your leisure, or join us Wednesday for the sale and some hospitality as well. Should you have any questions regarding the offering feel welcome to contact the consignors or ourselves at Castlerock Marketing and we would be happy to provide you with an evaluation of the cattle.
See you sale day!

This heifer has loved the spotlight since she was born, one of those calves that catches your eye every time you walked through the pen. This trend continued on through the summer as she quickly caught Shane’s eye. It’s not hard to understand why this heifer stands out amongst the rest, she is the product of a young cow that has knocked it out of the park on her first two attempts and HF Center Stage 126H. Center Stage offers up the structure, performance, Angus character and consistency that the Showman progeny possess. Maternally this future star combines the flawless udder structure of her Stunner mother with the qualities of long time donor HF Miss Erica 141Z to provide very little guesswork on the potential of this heifer.
For our first-time contribution to the Form and Function we figured we’d step out with what we feel is the top of the heifer calf pen. Talk about a peach, big ribbed and pretty as they come, this heifer is absolutely stacked when it comes to pedigree. Merit Sting needs no introduction on what he has done to the industry adding functional cattle everywhere he’s been used, maternally this heifer comes right from the heart of the Eastondale cow herd. This being 28E’s fourth calf, we kept her first son for our own use, her second son, last year was our high seller and the Grand Champion two year at the First Annual Cattlemens Call here in Lloydminster. 104K has a bright future and is part of our show string this fall and would make a great junior or show project down the road.
Here is a beautifully made female that shares a lot of the look and design of her dam. She is big and powerful, quiet natured, long bodied with perfect udder development all presented in a very complete package. 14K traces back to one of our very first females, Early Sunset Queen 77X, purchased in 1990. With generations of exceptional cow family strength and maternal value, 14K has the genetic makeup to be a top producer. Her dam, VAP 22C, is an ideal brood cow with a beautiful udder, sound footed, big bodied and super attractive in her makeup.
14K’s sire, HF Roper 27F, is a massive curb bender whose dam is also a great uddered female that has made her way into the HF donor program. Exciting opportunity here folks!
Country Lane Queen 22C
- Dam of Lot 4
At first glance you can’t help but admire this soft made, structurally correct, sweet made heifer. Combine that with her pedigree and you see the great female maker this gal possesses in her genotype. 34K is the first Dixie female to leave the farm and the only reason is that her Mother is a first calver with many more years of production ahead of her. The Dixie cow family have been consistent producers for us with progeny that is stylish, real complete, great feet and legs and beautifully uddered. 34K’s sire, VAP 39G, is a Sky High son that we used for two years and he has not disappointed. Many visitors have commented on how consistent his progeny are and eye appealing as well. If you are looking for a foundation female, here is a great one to consider!

Miss Essence 8K has all the makings to create a legacy of 99K. With the addition of HF Rosebud 246Z to her list of maternal power within her pedigree, we feel very confident in the future she has ahead of her. This maternal gem has brood cow written all over her, whether it is in her pedigree or in her physical presence.

Bonnie Lady 48K stems from one of the most talked about, highly structured, thoroughly thought through purchases we have ever made. At the time of the famous Eastondale Angus production sale, I received a call from my old buddy, Larry Flicek, and after a few short hours on the call, the decision was made, that I could use a way smarter silent partner.
Talk about cow power, this girl is packed full of it. Stemming back to the GGRR 24T cow that started our Red herd. 27K is a mixture of old prove genetics and new exciting. Out of a direct daughter of Sam’s propector crossed with the Red Blood bull this female is going to be exciting to watch mature.

Marta is a younger March calf which is super elegant in her design. With a big ribbed, attractive blood red color combined with hairy coat and quiet demeanour, this calf would be an ideal junior project. Marta’s are a major cow family here at PIRO and for good reason. They are functional brood cows with a punch, that produce the type of seedstock the commercial cattleman appreciates. Marta’s dam is no exception, she is a performance based massive barrelled, heavy milking power cow. And on the top side her sire 817F stamps his progeny with an exceptional foot, calving ease with explosive growth...leading to high weaning weight calves and beautiful replacements. Benelli 817F sons have sold to Airam Farms, Tuckers, and Y7 land and cattle. He has done an outstanding job for us!
Since starting into the Red Angus breed, we’ve been striving to improve our herd every step. This heifer is no exception. The quality of this cow family is really shining through as both red heifers are sisters. 9K has an eye catching profile and design, moving flawlessly. She posseses a deep chest and sweeping belly line, this is a heifer that will be sure to be a great addition to anyone’s herd.
This heifer was a hard choice to let go, but we always like to put our best foot forward. Cola 12K exhibits ample rib and volume tying into a sharp, angular front end. Topped off with a gorgeous skull and great mobility. There’s a lot to admire about this heifer and her dam has done nothing but produce as you can see, with her daughter having the other red consignment. Buy with confidence in the cow and our program.
I have really enjoyed watching this end of February calf develop over the summer and into the fall. 121K is super dark with an American sweetheart style to her, wedgy and big ribbed. The Lassie females are functionally sound with great udders and feet. Her grand dam and great grand dam both produced until 16 years old, never missing a beat. Not only are these ladies filled with longevity and fertility, they are easy to find being attractive feminine females. 121K is sired by James Bond, a bull we used on our heifers and a select group of cows. He is well extended through the front and has left a fancy group of calves on the ground. I have mixed emotions about letting 121K leave home. She is one that represents the roots of our program. I am confident that Lassie is one that will go onto making an excellent addition to anyone’s herd.
When I was selecting for breeding last year I was very hopeful I would get a heifer calf out of Red DKF Razor 55C because I love the way they are made. I got exactly what I was hoping for with this cross. Kahlua has been at the top of my heifer pen since she was born. She would make someone a great Junior project she has a such a sweet disposition, is smooth made through the front and isn’t lacking any mass. Whether you are looking for a heifer for a junior project or one that is going to make a great production cow, she is one not to miss.
Lola is a big topped, bold sprung, dark cherry red heifer that our kids Karsten and Shelten have shown successfully at numerous small towns shows throughout the summer. She has a super sweet disposition and would be excellent for any Junior to show, but at the same time will mature into a powerful cow for your herd. Her dam, 95E will enter the flush program next spring for us.
Lakima’s Dam was purchased out of the Six Mile’s Genetic Focus Sale last November. 34K’s Dam Red Six Mile Lakima 405F is an extremely attractive, big bodied Unanimous daughter and we strongly feel that 34K will follow her mother’s traits closely and go out and produce powerful replacement females and sale bulls for the new buyer in years to come. Her maternal brother sold this spring in Six Mile’s annual bull sale for $10,000.
This year’s bred heifer consignment is a prime example of the type of female we are striving to raise. She comes right off the top of the replacement pen and it’s never easy to make the decision to part with a heifer with this kind of potential. At this point we know what the Renovation females are bringing to the table, they have tremendous volume while remaining extremely feminine and have near perfect teat placement and size. We do not have a lot of Bank Robber females due to his early death but the ones we do have are outstanding, the Renovation/ Bank Robber combination provides a highly maternal and predictable package. We are very excited about the mating to Ellingson Profound and look forward to the new owners reaping the rewards.

Here is a beautiful Blue Chip daughter. She is the Blue Chip female we have on offer to sell as a bred. The Blue Chip daughters have worked very well for us with great feet and udders. The Tibbie cow family has done a great job for our herd. She is a very deep, long body female. She is very smooth across the top and wide in the back end. She is going to make a great female. She is carrying service to our new herd sire, Allandale Natural Law 35H from Wayne Stetson. He is an ET son out of the Coleman Donna 6205 donor cow that Allandale and Everblack own. She has already made her mark in their programs. We all know Natural Law progeny are so sought after, so this coupon here will be worth the value alone. We are so impressed with his first calf crop, we decided to draw semen on him.

Everblack Ruby 99J is a tank of a female! She is wide topped, deep ribbed and sound to the ground. Coming from a high performing cow from the Berting family at Ravenworth Cattle. The mother 24D has 2 daughters in herd and a son through the bull sale. The sire, Stamina 11F, has roughly 150 calves on the ground so far and we are extremely happy with both male and females alike. Numerous daughters are calved out now with phenomenal udder quality and ease of fleshing. To date, his offspring have been well accepted at auction with 12 progeny averaging a touch over $9000. Ruby 99J is bred to our junior herd sire Six Mile Showtime 80H who we purchased a half interest in for a $63,000 valuation in the spring of 2021. This should be an exciting mating!

Everblack Countess 73J is out of a terrific old 76U cow that came from the Lookout Stock Farm dispersal in 2011. 76U is a direct daughter of the ol’ Pacesetter 258M bull. To quote Roy from his dispersal book “He breeds consistent – both his sons and his daughters exemplify the vital traits that we strive for in our herd like good feet, good udders, good temperament, easy fleshing, hardy cattle that are fertile and have longevity bred in.” We can attest to this quote as over 10 percent of our active cow herd trace back to the 258M bull.
Countess 76U also boasts a nice production record with 3 sons sold through our bull sale, 4 daughters retained in our herd and one top selling daughter sold through the Northern sale to LLB. 73J is sired by our senior herd sire BAR-E-L Stamina 11F, a bull that is producing sound, functional cattle, sons and daughters alike. Super sweet in her profile, with the beautiful Angus head, great hair and packed with genetic power. The McLaren daughters have out reached our expectations.
