DONATION - COUNT RIDGE STOCK FARM
The SAAC Chinook Sale IN 2013 featured a special fundraiser to help out those angus breeders who had been affected by the “flood of the century” in Alberta. Nathan Jensen looked over his herd of bred heifers in the pasture and choose XDS 6Z to contribute to the sale to raise some funds. She had been bred to a black bull but after much pressure from Laura and enthusiastic bidding from the assembled crowd- she
made her way home to CountRidge Red Angus. Well, the black bull calf surely didn’t fit into our program but every year since, she has produced some fine Red offspring. Her udder is still very well balanced and uniform, with good strong attachment and sports a decent milk score at +35. It’s no wonder her calves have weaned and weighed in on the top of the group each year! As well, she has solid strong and well balanced feet and legs providing for excellent conformation and a strong body condition, which has held up very well for a cow which has produced this many performance calves. This donation heifer is the most recent offspring from that strong background and seemed a fitting choice for this 2024 Chinook sale. She’s still in her working clothes and essentially fresh out the pasture. She has not been halter broke and is not a “yard-pet” who will be testing your patience for years to come. Weighed in at 610 lbs - September 18/24. Her sire - ZDM 115E is a powerhouse whose posterity has been aggressively tipping the WW scales since he joined us from the V8U Ranch in 2018.
DUTCH AUCTION PROCEDURE
e The final bid in each round will denote the amount of that bidder’s donation. Ex:
Round 1 – Final Bid is $300 to John Doe. John’s donation is $300.
Round 2 – Final Bid is $250 to Tom Jones. Tom’s donation is $250.
Round 3 – the heifer is re-auctioned on a downward scale until no further bids are received.
e Each $10 purchased (donated) represents one chance in the draw. Ex: John Doe has 30 chances, Tom Jones has 25 chances and so on down the scale.
e One ticket for every $10, bearing the contributors name, will be entered in the draw.
e At the end of the sale, one ticket will be drawn with that person winning
RED REVERSE GC LASSIE 82M
It’s heifers like this that hurt the most to sell. Lassie 82M is everything we look for in a female. Feminine, well balanced, broody and packed full of potential. Her maternal pedigree goes back to Lassie 207Z and Lassie 377P, both renowned donors who have had a tremendous impact on the Red Angus breed. Her sire’s lineage is bred for longevity and fertility with dams and grand dams producing well into their teens. His first set of females are set to calve here in 2025 and they all share the same eye appeal as 82M. This early February calf has all of the features to raise future bull sale highlights and quality replacement females. Lassie 82M is a female that will undoubtedly pave her own road to success in any breeding program.
LOT 2 - FIREWORK CATTLE CO
We are excited to be back this year again in the Chinook Harvest Sale! Our consignment this year comes from another Mossy Oak cross because we just really loved the look of them. Coincidentally named Ember, this heifer is sure to put a spark in your soul when you look at her. Ember 23M comes from a recognizable pedigree with Reckoning, John Wick, and Lark on her paternal side and Anthem, Approval and Countess on her maternal side. Ember 23M is an eye-catching heifer as it did not take Shane long to say she was the one for this sale. We admire this heifer for how powerful yet soft she is. She truly is a carbon copy of her dam, Red Wheel Countess 87H. She moves with such elegance and when she stops, she shows off her capacity, performance, and feminine look. As they say, if it doesn’t hurt to sell one, she’s not the right one and this holds true. We think so highly of this heifer and hope she makes someone else feel the spark toward her as she does with us.

LOT 4 - REVERSE GC ANGUS
Crazy how things come full circle. Princess 85L’s dam was purchased from the Chinook Classic sale back in 2018 as the high selling bred heifer. The Princess cow family is performance driven with great udders and feet. 85L is pieced together well from the tip of her nose to her tail. She has a nice head and neck extension coupled with a wide top and tons of rib shape. This heifer is set to follow in her dam’s footsteps and you won’t be disappointed with what she will contribute to your herd!

Built on a sturdy foundation, she has an excellent dark foot, a feminine front, extra length of body, a strong top and will have a fantastic udder. Her sire, Six Mile Badger 529G, stamps his daughters with these traits and has left us several great working females which are loaded with extra style. The service sire, Lacombe 17L, was Yarrow Creek’s high selling Wilbar Crackerjack son last spring. He combines calving ease, maternal strength and performance all wrapped up in a dark cherry red package. We are excited to see the impact he’ll have in the years to come. Larkaba 36L is a well balanced female with all the right pieces to make an excellent cow. Her paternal pedigree goes back to Final Deal 87Z and we all know the quality his offspring offer. 36L is moderate in her stature and offers a very feminine look. She has good feet and is sure to mature into a highly maternal female. She is a carbon copy of her dam who was purchased from Ter-Ron Farms in 2020 who continues to raise quality calves. We will pay for DNA testing. Due early January
BORDER BUTTE 7
2024 marks 25 years since we began purchasing and than registering the Border Butte herd name. After acquiring the herd name from Dales Dad.
In this time while developing the herd we have improved and strengthened along the way. Being critical of the traits we feel are necessary for success in our environment. All while trying to introduce fresh genetics that complement our herd.
The heifer calves are what are the backbone. The next generation that will be mated to continue the genetics we keep trying to better upon. All while expected to replace and improve upon what the aging cow herd has set in motion.
While they reside in the greatest test we can put them against from June-November. The 1-4 summer fields offer a great testing ground for performance, … conditions that we want our females to prove they can work hard produce a female worthy of attention while building a production record on their own. Lineage is important to us as the herd matrons run deep and can be seen in numerous pedigrees. With 70 plus head of females born in this calendar year the first sort will be made November 1 and viewing can be arranged mid to late November. Pick to be made by March 1st.

This little beauty has a nice Angus head on her with great neck extension, she is fresh fronted and smooth shouldered. Her dam Fleming 748 Miss Essence is double bred Hyline Right Time 338 who was noted for making great females. 748 is a 7-year-old in her prime; she is productive, has a beautiful udder, is very feminine, sound footed, long sided & clean fronted. The sire of Fleming 455 Miss Essence is BLJ Houston 3H who is a direct son of Ellingson Top Shelf 5050. The Top Shelf calves are born with moderate to low birthweights and quickly mature in to balanced cattle with added performance. Take a good look at this prospect heifer, she is good!! SCCA 12M e JAN 09 2024 e 2359318
Miss Essence 12M is an outstanding young female. She is clean fronted, strong topped and has exceptional foot structure and hip shape. All of these traits have been inherited from both sides of her pedigree. Her Dam, Shiloh Stack Miss Essence 15K, is as deep ribbed and strong topped as they come with a beautifully balanced udder. She is extremely maternal and has a kind disposition. We think she has done an amazing job on her first calf. Her Sire, Roy Mac Colossal 57J has quickly become a top Herd Sire here at Shiloh Cattle Company, with a majority of his offspring being retained in our herd or for our annual bull sale.
This eye catching end of February heifer calf was sent to the hills so no one would find her as she was destined to be a front pasture replacement. When Shane asked if I would consign her I thought it was only fitting as the original Janessa was purchased through The Chinook Sale in 2003. This Rainfall X Sitz Traction combination is proving to produce beyond our expectations.

We are very happy with our Western Epic calves to date and we think 24L is a prime example of what he sires for us. Deep, broody type of a heifer with a feminine look and sound made to boot. Add those genetics in with Dateline, Upward and a granddam that produced 12 calves and her dam is raising her 9th makes 24L a great maternal choice. Balanced makeup and balanced numbers she should raise some high quality, highly sought after light birthweight bulls for her new owner. LEEUWENBERGH ANGUS
For the first time ever we are offering a pick of the herd flush from any of our registered cowherd. We have worked hard to develop a set of cows that are productive and are able to travel the hills and ridgeline south of Raymond.Feet, udders, fertility are at the top of the list we need from them. The never ending quest of improvement make the efforts of breeding cattle rewarding. This long standing investment in acquiring the traits that are important to our customers year in and year out. While the cow quality comes at a high demand, the importance of breeding cattle that can perform in the feedlot certainly is important as we finish our steers and cull heifers as well. Basically we want it all but are fully aware that cattle that can do a lot of things well is important rather then focusing on a couple of traits. We look forward to going through the cows and help you find the cow that fits your needs and wants for your operation. Our semen tank will be fully available to the new buyer if so desired. Flush to be done at Bow Valley Genetics. Your choice to a ivf or conventional flush. Guaranteed 6 freezable embryos with no limit on the top. Flush costs are the responsibility of the buyer, 1/2 done sale day balance upon completion of the flush.
SEMEN LOT 23 - LEEUWENBERGH ANGUS
Slowburn has been on a steady trajectory upwards in popularity since he’s been a calf! Initially, he was a standout in the pen of bulls when we made the decision to keep him for ourselves. Seeing his value as a herdbull full of power, presence and standing on a fantastic foot. Fast forward to fall of 2022 where his first release of semen publicly averaged $413 dose and the buzz keeps going. His first set of sons were extremely well accepted amongst purebred and commercial customers always commanding the top sale prices. Fall of 2023 another batch of semen released averages $490 on forty straws. Spring of 2024 comes along with his second set of sons selling his first daughters calving met expectations. We feel Slowburn sets the industry standard in foot quality and passes it on to his progeny in a predictable manner.
CUDLOBE ENCHANTRESS 30J
This young productive Renegade daughter comes from the highly esteemed Enchantress cow family which originated with Stevenson Enchantress 425F who was a maternal sister to Stevenson Fortune 425C. These landmark genetics are highlighted with a Marbling and Carcass Weight EPD that are in the top 1% of the breed. Mated with Pine View Raider G244 who is a big time spread bull with a +10 on CE, 0 on birth all the way to +161 on yearling weight as well as the top 1% for Carcass Weight and REA. Maybe one of the most intriguing parts to UGA 30J is that she is a Red Carrier making for a great opportunity to add new blood to the Red Angus breed. Guaranteed 1 pregnancy if implanted by an accredited Vet.
SEMEN LOT 25 - VISSER ANGUS
Renown was part of a masterful mating that included, Resource, Recharge, Rito 1439 and 14 full sibling females that have been beyond productive. The common denominator being Blackcap May 4136, quite likely the most influential cow in Angus history! Other noteworthy sons include, President, Rainfall, Rain Master, Reign, Governor, Raindance and those again are all flush brothers. The Renown females are noted for their production record with excellent feet and udders.

SEMEN LOT 26 - VISSER ANGUS
Showman took the breed by storm when he sold for $125,000 US Dollars as a yearling to Hamilton Farms and Six Mile. When the first set of sons were first offered they turned the breed on it’s ear absolutely blowing the doors off the barn, admired for their phenotype and low birthweight option. This spring the evidence was clear with many top selling bulls coming out of Showman daughters including the $180,000 bull at Hamiltons. Like they say….the proof is in the pudding!
