THE 50TH ANNUAL MASTERPIECE! It is with great pleasure we present to you this long running event that has been integral to the Saskatchewan Angus Association and its consignors. The intent of this sale in its inception was to give breeders a platform to showcase their genetics under one format enabling breeders to compare their programs side by side. Today of course, with social media and cell phones we can see and experience it all in real time. But, there is one thing time will not change and that is the need for camaraderie and fellowship which makes these events so special. First time consignors can work along side breeders that are decades into the Angus breed, thus allowing for great conversation and experiences shared that are meaningful for both parties. When it’s all said and done this is a people business and we in the livestock industry are lucky to share these times with fellow breeders are just as excited as they are.

The future is bright in the Angus breed as we lead registrations all over the world! The flexibility and options that the Red and Black Angus cattle offer are limitless. Keeping our eye on the goal in developing genetics that keep the commercial industry profitable should be held in the highest regard. Fads will come and go but the needs of the commercial operations stays the same….producing cattle that will, breed, calve and raise a good calf is as difficult as it is.

Join us October 18th at Gold-Bar Livestock where Sarah and her family have been such gracious hosts to have this sale at home, we thank Sarah, Paul, Kaycee and Saige for all that they offer. A top set of genetics have been gathered from three provinces boasting the genetics their programs developed around. A number of females in this sale trace back to original Masterpiece purchases as foundation seedstock. Join us after the sale for supper and hospitality and best of all Angus fellowship!

On behalf of the Saskatchewan Angus Association Welcome to the 50th Masterpiece Sale!! This has always been a venue for any breeder to be able to consign to and promote their program. A high end sale where breeders dug deep and let the good ones go. Although pedigrees and names have changed I think the concept of this great sale has held true to form. Thank you to Castlerock marketing for the management and for their belief that this sale needed to continue to be a staple in the fall sale season .Thank you as well to Sarah and the Gold Bar crew for hosting this great event at this fine venue. Please join us as well for the SAA annual meeting taking place before the sale as well. Take care!! Hope to see you there.

Here is an opportunity to acquire a sweet, sharp-fronted, powerful female. Move her forward as a show heifer or take her home and build upon the solid production of our family’s Errolline, Eileen, and Akita cow families. She is very quiet, halter-broke and loves the attention that our granddaughter Isabella has given her.31M presents a big-bold body shape with a large, deep rib and hip dimension under a wide level top. This fancy female weaned off grass on Aug 31stat 796 pounds... no creep, with a BW of only79 pounds. She is sired by Young Dale Believe 43B, the $146,000 son of Grace 126Z. HerDam is an easy to maintain, moderate-framed, attractive, producer with ample milk.31M will develop into a great breeding piece with breed character that will never go out of style.

This heifer is a really pretty female, sweet and feminine in her makeup and was a top pick of Mark’s when he was here. 2M stems from the 27 cow family and we have a lot of them working here. 2M has three sisters working in our herd and a brother sold to Rafter 7 ranch in Gladmar. The granddam 27C, we have retained all her daughters and her bulls are top of the pen. 2M is sired by our Bravo son from Lewis Farms, where he was the lead off and high selling Angus bull in their bull sale. At almost 6 years old his feet are stellar, moves like a cat and his calves are excellent, very consistent, his bulls lead our bull pen and the females very solid. All the homework is done on this one.

Out of our Impressive bull that come from MJT and has done nothing but impress us in his first set of calves. His sire, MJT Impressive 813F is a past Grand Champion Angus bull at Farmfair in 2018 and was a many time division winner over the course of his career. 401M boasts a neat combination of light birthweight genetics but plenty of performance to keep it relevant. The Dam cranks out a good calf every year and real sound on her feet and udder with plenty of doability to them.

Songbird is moderate, quiet tempered, heavy haired, feminine and lots of performance. Her sire Gabe 41K is the service sire to my bred heifer lot and is a great indication of how he will produce. He was Reserve Champion Black Angus bull and Champion Black Angus Bull calf at Frontier Days 2022. He is puppy dog quiet with good feet, lots of bone, excellent calving ease and superior growth. Her dam 68A has put 3 daughters into purebred herds, Morhart Farms, Hanson Angus and last years Masterpiece consignment to Donfield Farms and 2 daughters in herd. She would make a great heifer for a young junior showman. She is also housed at Gold Bar Livestock.

Last fall we stepped out and grew our Black Angus division with some great purchases out of the Black Meadows dispersal. Well low and behold an in dam coupon gets selected for the 50th Anniversary of the Masterpiece Sale. The Total 111Z cows are very good sound cows that sure are productive. Sam Elliott was Flora 6078 first calf on her way to stardom in the Angus breed with her sons averaging over $20,000. 13M is going to have some power and performance to her but she has plenty of maternal bred into her as well.

This Woodhill Blueprint female has great potential to be a future herd builder. 2M is the result of our efforts to balance our calving ease females out with a more performanceoriented sire. She is off KEYS 6G, an Element x Tiger female that is leaving her mark on our program. 2M’s half sibling was our high selling bull this past spring in the Triple A Angus Bull Sale to Zane McKerricher Farms Inc. 2M is also a good show prospect as she is started on halter.

Wow! 50th anniversary of the Masterpiece. We felt we needed to offer a very special one to the public. 407M sired by Triumph adds to her pedigree but her mother 307A is honestly argued as our best female with her outstanding track record. 307A has been very shy on giving females to build on but when Shane was here he found this young lady and wanted her to say the least. So with many long discussions at the dinner table we decided we would offer our very best. We cant say enough about this cow with being the mother of herd sires such as Torino, Rip and many others. Rip himself was admired by many astute cattlemen. 407M herself is very long, loads of hip; big topped with a very elegant front end. 407M will be entered at Brandon Agex and CWA. We wish to work with the new owners and show her this fall at our expense.

Sunny Grove Donna 7M is a uniquely bred heifer being sired by the popular Boyd Justification and grandsire, the pathfinder sire KG Justified. On her Dams side you have the maternal legends Bar E L Natural Law and Leachman Right Time, and the $35,000 half interest Coleman Donna 3125 and the $290,000 Donna 714.

The Dewdrop cow family have been reliably producing functional females for us for a long time. These girls are deep sided, thick topped with nice feminine angles. It is very hard for us to let of go this heifer calf but knowing that there are 8 more that look just like her in the replacement pen eases our discomfort. Her sire, HF Reverence 23K was the $80,000 high seller in the 2023 Hamilton Farms Bull Sale, after which we were able to acquire a semen package. Reverence brings maternal lineage and a great foundation that covers a lot of bases.

Here’s a heifer calf that has been at the top end of the heifer calves since birth, she possesses a tremendous amount of thickness and muscle shape while maintaining a nice feminine wedge shape to a strong front end she was an in dam purchase from Nesset Lake at the Touch of Class sale in Saskatoon and man did she hit a home run on her first calf. This heifers pedigree is a bit unique, blending the exciting DMM Full Steam bull with the proven HF sequel bull this heifer is a really good option to use as a show heifer. Then turn her out and watch her produce.

Abound Blackbird 413M has a lot of natural eye appeal and presence. Her dam, Abound Blackbird 216K, made a heck of a debut raising her first calf. 413M’s sire, Wilbar Headlands 186K, is a son of the well known Conley South Point 8362. We selected him to service our heifers and he provided the right touch of calving ease along with a whole lot of performance. Here is an attractive female and with her high maternal EPD numbers it leaves the door wide open for mating possibilities!

We are excited to consign Angus Ridge Lady 60M to the 50th Masterpiece sale. She is an eyeappealing, strong-topped heifer with good foot structure. This March heifer is sired by Hi Low Growth Fund 1K and out of a LLB Tex 0165X daughter. She is docile and would make a junior project and then go on to be a top cow.

Shake That 306M is out of Sarah’s favourite cow here at Gold-Bar. She wouldn’t be for sale if we weren’t planning to walk a maternal brother in the heifer pen next year. 306M will mature into a pretty special cow. Shake That 20B has a set of ET calves by SSS Deuce that are around the country and look to be highlights next spring. 20B carries all the positive attributes of any Angus cow, productive, attractive and awesome feet and udder.

A fancy heifer calf coming from Bell Angus who are long time breeders dating back over 70 years in the Angus business. This is the first calf crop from Boyd Justification born in Canada and what a job he is doing. With KG Justified semen in short supply Justification is an excellent replacement by adding in the Abigale cow family own world wide fame. The Queen cow family came to Bell’s via HiLow Angus as a bred heifer and traces right to the Early Sunset Queen cow family, foundation genetics.

Heifer Calf

Style and pizzazz to burn here! Blackbird 16M is quite an intriguing calf both on paper and on the hoof. Let’s start at the ground with our Ellingson Badlands prodigy. Very sound footed across the board with a ton of heel to them, 16M being an example of this. We have used him in our AI program for three years and each year I’m more of a fan. Blackbird 16M is a product of a beautiful first calver Blaster daughter that did a bang up job on her first try and looks the part doing so. Endless opportunities whether you want to take her out and see if you can win some money with her, or wait and see the beautiful breeding piece she will make. The choice can be yours!

A sister to one of the highest selling bulls to sell in Canada last year. This Elysium daughter is a showstopper. She is pretty and feminine and as easy fleshing as you can make one! She has a lot of the desirable traits that you look for when trying to pick that next female to add to your herd! Her mother is the epitome of production calving every year in the first cycle and just keeps on producing at 10 years of age, she hasn’t missed a beat perfect footed tremendous uddered in a very moderate package! We couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds for this girl we are confident it’s going to be exciting!

17M is a good bitch from a long line of good bitches. Her damn 64G is one of our best young cows, with two daughters retained and her lone bull calf thus far working in a purebred herd. her maternal grand 29X was flushed at the age of 13 leaving a legacy of 46 number one embryos in three goes. 17 M will carry on these traits of fertility and longevity. The Countess line is our most influential cow family, like the rest of our herd they have been culled ruthlessly for generations for bad udders, bad feet and high tail heads. On the top side of 17M’s pedigree is Wood Coulee Bud 51K aka “Haggard” He was my pick of a very strong Mama Tried sire group in Russ’s 2023 bull sale. I am confident that this heifer will become a top shelf brood cow.

Well what a hard one to part with. But being the 50th we wanted to put one of our very best up for your appraisal. 414M’s dam has been a great cow here. Which is no surprise as her dam has always been a top producer and a cow we have flushed. One of the most notable sires raised by 805 though is the Wood Coulee Taurus Bull. Who is really making a name for himself. He will be on the road this year and very competitive at Agribition this fall. He was the high selling $21,000 purchase by Triple L Angus and Jay Bar D Angus. His progeny look amazing and looks like he is going to have a very bright future. Now 414M herself is long bodied, deep red, with just a tremendous front and look to her. This heifer is one that would work in the show ring. But we are even more confident she is going to make a great mother cow!

We are excited to be joining the Masterpiece sale this year! We wanted to offer up a heifer calf from the heart of our program that represents what we are striving for. 77M has the structure, style and presence that we are aiming for along with a solid pedigree behind her.

Longevity, consistency, and performance are traits that were always trying to improve within our herd, And this calf’s pedigree has many females that are great example’s of that. HRA 71W is the Grand-dam and at 15 years old she’s still working hard on the farm today!

Here’s an opportunity to own a heifer that we are very excited about! Her Dam 31K did a great job!

Here is a special red heifer calf that should draw some attention at the sale. She is the first-born calf for us this calving season, off of Red Goad Pilsner 183’21 (GOAD 183J). Marslite is a cow man’s dream. Solid made heifer with a perfect udder, under a solid foundation with a pretty head and loads of volume already. This heifer goes back to Red Double C Marslite 136P that we took to Melville way back when to put on display at a summer tour. This heifer if she does what we know she should will be one tremendous female with her pedigree on all sides saying an awesome purebred cow in the making. We had the vet check her to make sure she is ready to go next spring and she is. Take a look back in her pedigree and enjoy what you find.

I had a well respected cattleman to help me write this footnote for Bayberry after him seeing her for the first time. All he said was “What a sweetie, look at that sweetie. Wow she is sweet, here sweetie sweetie, sweetie. That’s a sweet little sweetie”

Thanks for the help D**** W*******

We’ve bragged about our 606D cow since the start and were fortunate enough to get her back from the T-K dispersal after they had purchased her from us at RRUP, we had to have her back. 412M is a carbon copy of her dam at the same age and just enhances our belief in the prepotency of this cow family which coincidentally goes back to the dam of New Trend 22D. 412M is a definite brood cow in the making and has all the attributes to become a breeding piece in any herd. Shane has been on us for a calf out of 606D for a while and we finally relented.

20L could have one of the more unique pedigrees selling this fall. We took a trip in 2021 with Roy from Lookout Stock Farm to Ottawa to visit Don and Jeannette at Glen Islay Angus. Not only did we get a tour of a beautiful farm and learned a lot from these prominent Angus breeders, we ended up coming home with a sweet group of bred straight Canadian heifers. Crossing these straight Canadian females with Merit Intent 37H bull has nicked extremely well as he is a female maker. Mayflower 20L has been a looker since she was born. Mayflower 20L combines her excellent structure with a femininity and poise to make her a stand out amongst the bred heifers. We’ve slowly been assembling our purebred herd with the focus being highly maternal. So with this being the first female we have sold it had to be our best to come to the Masterpiece!

Exposed to Everblack Ace 3004 ~ April 1 - June 1 2024. Preg checked August 14th, due mid January

Moderate frame, excellent feet and she came off the pasture in show shape! This easy keeping Intuition 7J daughter is one of the top bred heifers we have on the farm.

The Eston Anne cow family has anchored our herd since Royal Eston Anne 34N joined our herd as a bred heifer in 1982 from the Sisson brothers and has definitely become a signature cow family for us! A full brother was selected by Midnite Oil Cattle Co as a herdsire for their operation so this mating really clicks. The service to Coleman Below Zero adds two of the influential cows in the breed these days in the breed with Donna 714 and Sitz Pride 200B who now resides at Scott’s in Nebraska.

AI May 5 to Coleman Below Zero vet checked favourable. Exposed May 24July 2 to Nu Horizon Triumph 352L

Our first female to sell sired by our senior herdsire Peak Dot Roughrider 2063G. HTD 15L is a very good representation of the kind of females we have come to expect. We have a number of Roughrider females producing. It seems like the right time to offer up as they have proven their worth in our herd in making tremendous females.

AI May 15 to Coleman Below Zero vet checked favourable. Exposed June 2- July 2 to Nu Horizon Triumph 352L

51’23 is a model Lazy MC Spades daughter nice headed, smooth fronted and deep bodied. She’s out of a top young Motive granddaughter who was an in dam purchase, her grandmother 4003 has produced extremely well for me bringing in top calf every year bull or heifer, 51’23 is favourable to SAV Harvest Moon who worked very well for Wiwa Creek Angus.

The Dewdrop females stem from the foundation of our herd, reliably producing functional females year after year. LCL Dewdrop 3L has a moderate frame, quiet disposition and nice depth and length of body while not sacrificing pelvic width. Her sire, Sitz Major is a calving ease, negative BW sire that has muscle shape, length of body, strong performance data with a good foot.

Exposed Valley Blossom Express 739L to APRIL 21st – JUNE 4th. Observed bred April 22nd

A beautifully constructed female who genetically combines the top SW Saskatchewan herds of Valley Blossom Ranch and his late father, Bob Switzer and his Sandy Bar Ranch. Annie K 74A was selected out of Bobs dispersal sale and went out to produce heavyweights for us, earning CAA elite dam honours. This bred heifer’s dam is raising another rip of a heifer calf that has made the short list of our kids 4-H hopefuls. This grand daughter of 74A follows her lines very similar, sound footed with a strong maternal look. Her sire Blaster 764H, has proven himself to be a very versatile bull. Producing daughters with added middle shape and high maternal looks and characteristics. His sons are no slouches either with a couple being among the top this year. Annie K 91L was the top weaning weight of her respected group and I believe the power is in the bloodline to continue this. Favourable to Ellingson Badlands is just icing on the cake! The same combination of Blaster/Bandlands produced our heifer calf consignment.

Pridista was my pick from a calf for 4H, Lane will vouch for that. She caught my eye early, but we ended up taking a different one and she was the spare 4H heifer. This female has a ton of good in her, deep thick, long and well balanced. I really like her dam, at 9 years of age she still sports a perfect udder, keeps herself in beautiful condition and always raises a good calf. Her dam is also still here raising calves, looks amazing and still has a perfect udder at 13 + years old. Pridista’s sire, Dewalt, is a son of Resource. He was purchased to walk a section of pasture with a 100 cows, he did not disappoint. Always came in better condition than we let him out, walked, bred a bunch of cows. The Resource females are highly valued for their maternal traits, and they look amazing while raising those good calves. This bred heifer is bred to a calving ease Lancaster bull from Peak Dot.

4L has been in our sights as an exciting opportunity for someone to add this type of female to their herd Her dam and granddam possess perfect feet and excellent udder structure and attachment. Fertility of this cow family is right at the top of our herd and being a direct daughter of Square B Atlantis 8060 only adds to the value of this female. We knew with her productive pedigree and eye catching makeup this was the female for the 50th anniversary of the Masterpiece

Pregnancy tested safe to Sterling Pacific 904 for a January 31 due date

Lucy is moderate framed, with a nice quiet temperament. She is feminine, with depth of body, great feet and lots of hair. Her Soo Line Yellowstone mother is a very nice uddered cow that produces a top end calf every year. Her service sire was an in dam purchase from Glen Gabel dispersal and is also the sire to the heifer calf Coulee Crossing Songbird 22M. I think he will really click with Lucy to give you a top quality replacement heifer or a future herd sire.

Bred to Coulee Crossing Gabe 41K on April 15, and exposed to same from April 13 to May 12, 2024 preg checked safe to April 15 service. She is housed at Gold Bar livestock if you would like to view her.

We purchased some Merit Sting semen out of the Touch of Class in Saskatoon a few years ago and this pretty lady is one of those females we have produced from that purchase. This girl’s grandmother was a heifer we won at Agribition from Tanya Belsham. I do not have the grandmother anymore but CPRA 436E, a daughter and the mother of 9L has gone elite as of 2023. She is a big volume cow, with everything about her just being right. Shane came into our herd and picked this lady off right away. He indicated that she would fit in perfectly with the type of females he wants at the Masterpiece.

This bred heifer has been naturally exposed to SSA 97L a bull we purchased from South Shadow Ranch, the Delormes from Maple Creek this spring. He is an Ellingson Homegrown 6035 son that has calving ease written all over him. 9L was preg checked on August 27th and she is five and a half months along, safe in calf to SSA 97L

Our bred heifer consignment, Lola 44L is coming right off the top of our bred heifer group. She is an eye catching, easy-doing female that has the makings of a great cow. She is sired by our walking herd sire Northern View Stellar 107H an Schiefelbein Attractive 4565 son. Her dam is an MVF Pioneer 39A daughter with lots of capacity and a beautiful udder that has been doing a great job for us.

Exposed to Hi Low Growth Fund 1K May 11th to July 19th. Preg checked safe, due late February / early March.

93L comes from our soapy cow line. Here’s a cow line with strong maternal traits and longevity. It’s hard to let these ones go but when you have productive sisters in the herd it makes it a bit easier. She is out of a sire that has really started changing our black side by adding lots of consistency. Our hooligan sire who is a Sting son has improved foot and added udder quality. She is a deep and well rounded female that’s going to make a great breeder. We AI’ed her to Mwc Bodybuilder 30Y, we picked this semen up at the KBJ dispersal and thought we would give it go this year. We feel that this young female will get the job done.

This feminine, sound-footed, free-moving daughter of Torque is the ninth calf for her Dam 64D. Ruby198L had a WW ratio of 120 and was #1 in her contemporary group of71 heifers. With a 116 YW index, her EPDs replicate her performance ability. A brood cow in the making, she is developing a desirable udder with the added bonus of being very docile. You can expect many, productive years with the maternal consistency and attractive structures of GD972, and GGD 12N, who raised 11 and 14 progeny respectively. Give this girl a look and take the opportunity to add her to your herd this fall.

From the heart of Saige’s cowherd comes 115J! She is wide based, bold in her rib cage and incredibly easy doing. She was shown successfully by Saige as a heifer calf and placed 2nd in her class as a yearling at Agribition.

Exposed to our new herdsire, Freyburn Temptation 97L starting April 4th. Due in January.

Just like her dam, 317M is loaded with maternal goodness. A young March baby with a great disposition. She has a world of future!

In the spring of 2016 we purchased a small group of open heifers from Ward Cockburn and dam Cora 507C was one of the heifer’s. Cora 507C is a front pasture cow that is structurally correct and a very easy doer! Rack Cora 39L is a heifer again that should be staying home, but we are proud to consign her to this year’s Masterpiece Sale. Cora 39L has that soft look like her Dam, she has the start of a great udder and we feel she will be a great producer for years to come. 39L’s sire HE 983D Rock 318G has complimented her breeding, with the KBJ Rock and Jensen Cactus 2Z and very strong cow families in there as well, only makes this heifer shine. Cora 39L is also bred to our new sire Red Bar Heart Lund 337L that we purchased from Kim & Curtis Pohl this spring. If you like your heifers thick made and a bit showy Cora 39L may just be your ticket on sale day!

Every now and then you seem to have a couple of heifers you should have hid in the back pasture! RACK Ms Rouge 13L is one of those females. Being new residents to Saskatchewan we want to display our best and we feel our consignments to this year’s Masterpiece Sale will well represent our program. Ms Rouge 13L was shown both at Lloydminster Stockade and Canadian Western Agribition where she gathered a lot of attention from both purebred and commercial cattleman. Dam Ms Rouge 13A is a front pasture cow and has raised top end calves going to both commercial and purebred herds. Ms Rouge 13L is soft made and thick, as she has the start of a beautiful udder and stands on strong feet. We feel that her mating to Red Bar Heart Lund 337L will be very interesting and will only compliment this calf going forward. We are excited to see who ends up with Ms Rouge 13L and look forward to follow her down the road.

EO13 comes with a royal pedigree of the who’s who in the Angus business very much is a product of what the Sinclair and N Bar programs were founded on. Breed legend and the original pace car in the performance world in RR Rito 707, Traveler 6807 and EXT himself to complete three of the most influential sires in the Angus breed. Now when you factor in the Kinochtry Beauty cow family that have served as foundation genetics for decades. When we seen E013 as a teenage cow we were extremely impressed with her soundness in her feet and udder in relation to her age and had to have her. Not everyday do you come across a cow with this much look and soundess that offers the longevity to live in her middle teens. SAV Quarterback semen is in high demand for his performance and productivity of his daughters, note the Blackcap May cow family shows up three times in his pedigree.

If we had a football team, PVA Blackcap 6284 would be the offence. Huge performance, fantastic fertility and the ability to play any position. We were very excited to find a son of Natural Law and the Tibbie 28Z cow, Greenwood Game Night 74G on our fall 2023 tour. Impressed with his impeccable feet and phenotype we have used him heavily in our ET program.

We are pleased to participate in the 50th Masterpiece Sale and would like to invite you to our farm at Gravelbourg to view the multiple siblings of these matings from our ET program.

54E is writing her chapter in history since acquiring this big time genetic gem. A black red carrier sired by Density offers a fantastic foot on her as well as an udder that is square and right. Sons can found working at Jensen Red Angus, Moose Creek Red Angus and their flush sisters created quite a stir since their arrival, definitely looking forward to calving them out and continuing to grow this cow family. Consistency and quality are easily thrown around but when you get a cow like this who hits it with every bull she’s mated with you know you really have something special.

The talk of the sale season of 2024 was Premium! The jungle drums on him started banging as he was an easy find in the Pen of three that Cockburns displayed at Agribition as they captured Champion Pen there. Next up was the Denver Stock Show and again they were awarded the Grand Champion Pen of Three making history in a cold, cold Denver. The bread and butter of Premium though are the cows that are tied up in this pedigree, the Christy cow family from SVR has been unstoppable, the Jan 78A cow has lit it up over at Duralta with her sale highlights, Cora 443P shows up numerous times at Cockburns through the daughters in which they’ve tied to as well. Then we have the Hauck 28N cow, right from the start of the Cockburn herd that cow family has produced and done it well into their teens! Having so many productive cows in a pedigree is a bonus! Now for Premium, a powerhouse bull with some extra scale and stretch to him in a very attractive sound package made him an easy find. The need for some extra frame and stretch is evident and this bull is just what the Doctor ordered.

Common Sense started out his career as the $60,000 bull at Rhodes Red Angus a few years back and now we have seen the fruits of his labor coming into play. Last fall at the Masterpiece Sale, Golden Sunset Ranch, unloaded a set of show stopping heifer calves that were highly revered and at the forefront of that pen were a couple of Common Sense heifers. Anyone who toured the sale cattle last fall were blown away with the power, soundness and type that they exhibited. By a landslide this would be Seneca’s most powerful son to date and when you incorporate his breed average birthweight EPD makes Common Sense a unique bull with the bonus of Docility, Foot and Claw being in the top 5% notice has been issued that there is long term benefits to utilize for your breed program.

Here are the very first Berwald Confident embryos to sell in Canada! He was the $90,000 High Selling bull in their very first bull sale in Toronto, not Ontario but South Dakota! ABS acquired him through that sale and his full ET sister brought $85,000. When I saw her last fall in November at the Berwald Ranch I thought she was the top two or three bred heifers I’d ever seen. The dam, Lydia 4F is an absolute gigantic volumed cow from Clarke Ward. She’s sound, great uddered and has a great disposition. She may be the top Assassin daughter out there and she can produce as well. JAS from Neepawa, MB selected her son last fall at $15,500

If ole 24Y doesn’t hold the record for the number of successful flushes in Canada….then I’m quite positive she’s a close second! She’s now gave us 34 successful flushes in her magnificent career and truly is worth of being called a Donor cow. Maybe the prettiest Mulberry daughter going and possesses a gorgeous udder and feet that are never needing any repairs. Although not many recorded progeny at the CAA she has large numbers around the world including USA, Mexico, Brazil, UK and Australia. Brylor Semen Sales owns the Canadian rights on Berwald Completely 2056. A group of us toured Berwalds in July and they are without a doubt the top sire group in Toronto, South Dakota. So we had our arm twisted in offering up some embryos on this female that we really hadn’t planned on selling. Having the 85B cow in as the granddam makes this pretty special property and with a track record like 85B has there is little guesswork to this deal. We have utilized 6 sons out of 85B and finally the last few years we have been getting some females out of this herd bull producing machine through our ET program. To add to the excitement in this mating is that we flushed her to Red Cockburn Premium 3059, the High Selling bull in Canada this year as we teamed up with Rohrich’s Cutting Edge Ranch, Sandhill Red Angus to get this done. A true reflection of her production comes from her stellar maternal pedigree and with 30 progeny recorded in the CAA herdbooks to date that number is going to continue to rise. 9 full brothers sold this spring the the 1st Annual Bull Sale and they were well received. 606D is an easy fleshing tank with that classic Angus look to her with excellent feet and udder. The epigenetic value she puts into her calves sets herself apart and is evident in the no miss production. The mating with Adrenaline and it’s potential can be seen with our heifer calf entry being a full sister. In the Spring of 2021 we set out to find the herdbull for us that had a dam as good as they come. We landed on Intent 37H and his beautiful dam, Flora 6078 and her dam being Flora 4120 and they really don’t come any nicer then those cows. Production wise 6078 sons have averaged over $20,000 led by the Merit Investment bull a few springs ago. Our focus is a strong maternal side and when we seen the flush sister to Intent we were blow away with their look and as we all know their production has been excellent as well. We calved, our first set of Intent daughters this spring and they have well spaced, small teats and have done a nice job on their calves. With Intent lost to an injury he will only live on through AI and after seeing his bred heifer at the Masterpiece we think this presents a great opportunity.
