Welcome to the much awaited, much anticipated Touch of Class Sale! As always we are extremely excited for this awesome Angus event to happen on so many levels. This sale is an exceptional set of cattle gathered for Friday night in the city of Saskatoon to be presented in front of a great crowd of Angus enthusiasts. Just as important for the consignors in bringing a top set of cattle to town is the people that regularly attend the Touch of Class Sale as well as those who set aside some time to drive in for the sale. Most unique about this sale is that it’s a large group of consignors that get along so well and enjoy spending time together, if you overhear the banter back and forth you know that everyone is friends because there’s no way that could go on without a melee. We have a vast offering of Black and Red Angus cattle with a wide array of pedigrees that appeal to a large number of breeders. Within these genetics we have many breeding programs that make each program unique. The sale has enjoyed tremendous success from their genetics going to their new owners and becoming an important part of their herd and most importantly profitable. This year we have a couple of Red Angus bull calves that carry outcross pedigrees unrelated to anyone with quality behind them for generations. Undoubtedly they deserve your attention. We have red and black, heifer calves and bred heifers that would take a tremendous amount of miles to find cattle that are any better then what’s here. In the cow/calf pair section there are some dandies led by another outcross cow with a complete Black Angus pedigree with a big time heifer calf at side. In the frozen section there is a large selection of semen and embryos that are breed leading no doubt but again come from cows that are worthy of furthering their genetics. We will be at SLS from Thursday morning to sale time, if you have any questions regarding the offering please feel welcome to give any of the consignors, sales staff or any of us at Castlerock Marketing we would be glad to help you. If you’re unable to make the sale we will have the sale broadcast online or your can be on the phone with us at ringside. See you sale day!

These are not just outcross genetics, they’re genetics from proven Black Angus bulls! 14C is dark red, calving ease herdbull prospect with excellent performance and eye appeal. The Ryeburn progeny have been at work at DKF for 17 years, so the homework has been long done and proven to be reliable. The dam carries a great foot, sweet udder and a productive and proven cow family that we continue to try and grow and replicate in the hills of Gladmar. Selling 1/2 interest and full possession.

More outcross genetics that again come from proven lines of Black Angus cattle that are second to none. As far as we know this will be the first of the SAV Eliminator line to be red and offered for sale. The sire to 55C has left us a very nice set of calves to compliment the opportunity they represent to offer outcross genetics. 55C is a powerhouse with a big rib, thick muscle pattern and style to boot. Again, we focus on calving ease and performance and this guy has cleared the hurdles in that department. Coming from a Net Worth cow with a shot of Right Time behind, the maternal strength is secured. Selling 1/2 interest and full possession.

26C has been on a steady rising curve since birth. She is huge topped, deep ribbed, beautiful haired and all in a very eye appealing package. Her temperament is also second to none. On the dam’s side she goes back to two purchases I made at an early Black Harvest sale from Windy Willows and Eastondale Angus. Both these cows ended up being top producers. This heifer was also second in class at the recent tough National show in Lloydminster. The sire, Black Cedar came from Eastons was a moderate thick bull and my pick from his sale that year.

We are proud to offer a daughter of the $19,000 half interest Eastondale Windy that Forsyth Ranch purchased in the spring of 2014. She is an absolute tank, wide based heifer that carries a great amount of maternal potential. The Gammer cow family has been excellent over the years going back to the 35K cow which produced 11 calves at the farm and always brought in a great one. 504C is out of a first calf heifer out of our Kodiak bull. Her dam, 38’09 produced one of our top selling bulls this spring to David Hepburn and another one in 2012 to Keith Bourhis, meanwhile all of her sisters have been retained in herd. Check this heifer out, she’s been an easy doing, broody looking standout all summer long.

A very nicely put together female coupled with a straight Canadian pedigree. This heifer calf is angular, deep, thick and sound. She has our herd sire, 104Y-“Teddy” as a grandsire and you will notice that the quality bull TGA Blackman 8311U shows up on both sides of her pedigree. These sire genetics combined with the Lucy cow family should equate to a top quality female down the road. This March heifer calf is a great show heifer prospect. She has a great disposition, gentle with her feet and the show cane, has fantastic hair and displays ease of showing. Oh and of course she is halter broke. Lucy 120C’s sire was purchased by J S Angus this past spring.

Well here she is, the first ever offering of Chantz’s to any sale; and to put it into perspective I believe the band Midnite Oil phrased it the best when they wrote the lyrics “ The time has come, to say fair’s fair, to pay the rent, to pay our share“. As in most cases we have heard over the years, the herd seems to be growing rather rapidly for one member of the 20/20; Sooo the time has come for Chantz to pay his due, and what a great way for him to make his debut into the sales side of the business. 20/20 Impact 11C is a interestingly bred female, with Chantz being able to ride the coats tails of our good friends Trevor and Wayne Guillet who had analyzed our bull pen (to death ) in 2013 and found the 20/20 Freeride 8A bull as their overall pick that year; and then allowed us the opportunity to breed a select group of females prior to delivering him. With the genetics of Southland Free Ride and the great DMM prefix combined with the bottom side of EXAR Sudden Impact and his original Annie K cow has made for a very exciting and powerful female in 11C.

Here will be the first female sold from Merit Big Dawg 3029A, our herd bull that is owned with Double F Cattle Co and Merit Cattle Co. 3049A was crowned Reserve Yearling National Champion bull at CWA last year and we couldn’t be prouder of him or his calves. Every time someone tours the herd here the Big Dawg’s are always pointed out. With 66C being no exception. Maternally she boasts a Belvin Rebel mother I purchased from Belvin Angus years ago and she has never missed. Her first calf was shown the pass two year very successfully at Lloydminster Stockade Round Up and CWA. 66C has the eye appeal that grabs your attention and the width of body and big top that keeps you coming back for more.

Red Wilbar Ruby 736C is a powerhouse heifer calf with a ton of future. Her mother, 810Z, is a top producing young cow – her first attempt at motherhood resulted in a feature bull selling to Chris Nidesh this spring. Her grandmother was our pick of Mike Howe’s herd several years ago after a summer tour. The Double Deuce daughters are proving to be heavy milking cows that wean off lots of pounds. 736C has an exceptional disposition and the looks to make her a superb junior project.

This is a high performing, very long and extended female. She presents a lot of look, length, and bone. 27C is sired by Killswitch the 2015 National Western Stock Show Champion Bull. This heifer is from a cow family that has as much earning potential as any in the breed. 27C is a heifer we are very proud to raise, one that would definitely show, but more importantly will be extra productive.

These Ghostrider females are going to be a lot harder to find in the not too distant future. This will be the last group of natural bred females offered for sale as we lost Ghostrider just before breeding season this year. This pedigree is packed full of maternal strength with breed legends like Mulberry, New Trend, Pasquale, Lead Pine and Cub not to mention well known females like 8G, 22L and 70M. Dam 28U has produced a herd sire for Robert Maszeros and we have retained a daughter in the herd.

Countess 540C is a dark red daughter of our Roughrider bull. He has left us with some great offspring. This calf is a full sister to a calf we sold last year to Brylor Ranch. Red Geis Poundmaker 61’03 was a feature bull in the Geis Sale in 2004. He left some fantastic daughters. Countess 18M was a cow that had offspring sell to many purebred herds including a daughter for 3J farms in Oklahoma and a son at Sunset Ridge Red Angus. She was a feature in the Manitoba Magic sale in 2004 from Topline. This female will make a great cow one day.

I only put in one red this year so figured I better make it a good one. This sweetheart of a calf comes from an Allstar daughter I purchased from Dwajo at a past Red Roundup sale. Her first three calves were all well received. The two bull calves where shown and featured lots in our bull sale and the heifer calf sold to Blairs. Ag at a previous TOC sale. With the Six Mile Lassie cow family and Net Worth inserted into the pedigree with a proven dam this calf is one you should buy with confidence.

Another excellent outcross pedigree stacked from a pedigree again that is full of breed greats. Starting with SAV Eliminator, who was the $95,000 top selling bull in 2010 to Peak Dot and Johnson Livestock. Great cow families surround this good heifer with the likes of MICH Power Up, Sams Prospector right up close on the paper. Different pedigree but definitely the kind of heifer that we like to sell as she will become a great cow!

Tibbie 79C is a powerful female out of the outcross sire RB Active Duty. This quiet female comes from a female that we selected from a Soo Line production sale. Tibbie 475S has been an perennial producer of quality cattle. As we prepared Tibbie 79C for pictures through halter breaking and clipping I have analyzed her depth, mass and power, I appreciate her length, depth of body, strong top and structural soundness. She has a great disposition and is halter broke.

A rare opportunity to get some different genetics as this calf’s sire was bought for performance and that he has done. His calves had consistent birth weights, superb growth and are well muscled. This calf is a moderate deep sided heifer with a tremendous hair coat. She was a favorite in the pasture by many. Here is one of the first Red Brylor Sequoia 212X daughters to be offered for sale. We were fortunate to have had the opportunity to purchase this son of Sequoia out of one of Bryan Mackenzie’s favorite females Red XXX Lakme 70M. She was a CAA Elite ET donor female with 39 progeny, a great udder and a foot under her second to none – the kind of genetics we can all use! Dam 46Y is a typical Indeed female that just flat works. She has produced two maternal sisters that were offered for sale – one working in the Red Ember Ranch herd near Kisbey and one in the Ramblin Rose herd near Rocanville.

We purchased Scenic Route from Lauron in 2014 as a mature bull and the quality calves he was leaving sealed the deal. Detour has been extremely sought after for his calving ease and how good his daughters are. Add the Preview 4P cow that is a donor cow at Lauron and the genetic combination doesn’t get any better. Her dam, 70U has been very good, as all of the Stockman 86N daughters have been, she has two sons working in purebred herds. 507C is very stylish, dark red heifer that catches your eye. You want to start a calving ease line of cows, here’s the one for you as she carries a -6.5 birthweight EPD making her in the top 1% of the breed.

GRAY 538C provides a really exciting opportunity. I could BS and tell you we really did not want to sell her, but the truth is we did. Sharing genetics like this is why we raise purebred cattle. We picked this young March calf with Shane because we believe that the Rough Ride cattle are going to do wonderful things. They are attractive and correct in all ways just like Rough Ride himself. The dam 263Z is a phenotypical direct Redman daughter that reminds me greatly of that sires dam.

Red Wilbar Bayberry 303B is a stout, deep ribbed heifer with a perfect udder in the making. The Bayberry cow family is a favorite if not prolific one in our herd. 303B’s sire is a past World Forum Reserve and Denver Reserve Champion. The AI service is to our second high selling bull from last spring that sold to Mark Fehr of Glaslyn, SK. He is a curve bending Pasquale son that was used on the majority of our red heifers this year. The service sire is a son of the legendary Towaw Indeed 104H out of the dam of Cockburn Ribeye 103R. This mating is certain to produce maternal greatness. AI’ed April 22 to Red Wilbar Pasquale 300B. Exposed May 12 to 30 to Red Cockburn Indeed 439B (preg-test favourable to exposure)

We are extremely proud to offer this heifer, such a powerful female that has great body structure, length with an optimum muscle pattern while laying down such a beautiful udder. She comes from our most productive cow family with her dam and grand dam always bringing in some of the very best calves in the fall. The 126S cow, granddam to this heifer will enter our flush program next spring as you can never have enough genetics from her. We feel the potential on this heifer is big time and she will provide an instant impact for her new owner. For an added bonus she will be carrying service to an exciting new sire we purchased this spring from Howes which comes out of one of their top cows. Exposed April 25-Aug 1 to Red Howe Shine 50B. Royally bred female here as she is out of our Turbo bull that has done an awesome job for us and when you see her you will see why we are so happy with the job he’s done. Turbo carries some of the breeds great cows close up in his pedigree such as Essence 22B from Miller Wilson, Tibbie 52F who served as a donor cow for Stewarts in Manitoba. The dam of 55B come from Trefiaks and has also been a welcome addition to our herd as well who also carries the influence of the Essence cow through the good 20/20 bull. With our return to the great Touch of Class sale in 2015, we felt we needed to offer up a bred female with as much maternal strength and quality as possible. 20/20 Duchess 3B exactly represents this criteria, with the maternal strengths of Kesslers Front Range on the top side combined with Tiger and an Ambush 03M daughter out of the Sandy Bar program on the bottom. As a testament to the maternal strengths of these Front Range females, we just finished successfully showing BOLD 6C ( Tour of Duty / Kesslers Front Range ) at the recent National Angus Show and then selling her to the good people of Wiwa Creek through the Fall Fusion Sale in Lloydminster. As an added bonus 3B has been bred early to Vision Unanimous with the possibilities of this mating being very good, with either a future herd sire or front pasture female as a token.

The Blackcap cow family she comes from at Triple L goes back to the Blackcap 15H cow whose progeny were always highly sought after as they were always the top of the pen. We have two shots of Right Time, Predominant and the Crossover bull who goes back to Stockman 365 and the Miss Pathy 62A cow that held the record price for a flush way back in 1999 at Red Roundup at $8800. This is another daughter of our Red Brylor Roughrider 214Y. She is dark red with a very good black foot. Roughrider has left us with some great daughters. They are the easy keeping kind. His first daughters calved this past spring and they have impressed us with great udders and lots of milk. She has a full sister that sold privately to MEM Red angus last winter and in turn ended up as the high selling cow in the BAR 4A sale in October of this year. She now makes her home near Kisbey at the Right Cross Ranch. That female had a heifer sired by Hi Capacity 44A and it was stellar. She sold in the first draft of calves which I thought was impressive production for a first calf heifer. Shane had his pick of the females when he came touring in the summer and this is what he came up with. AI’d to Red Brylor Red Kodiak 3A on April 28/14. 95B is a wide based, big barrelled bred heifer that carries some of the greatest cow families in the Angus business. On the top side we have the Queen Ruth cow family from Crescent Creek, Sandra 2C, Miss Quality and of course the Essence cow family from Miller Wilson. The dam of 95B was purchased out of the Touch of Class from 20/20 as one of the top heifer calves to sell that fall. She hasn’t disappointed! Exposed to MJT Touchdown 488Z April 15th-June 26th (Due February)

I wanted to show off a bred heifer from Bomber, the sire of last year’s high selling lot. This stout, deep ribbed powerful bred heifer ended up being Shane’s pick. Its not surprising seeing that the dam is a direct daughter of Whitestone Widespread and the sire going back to Tiger. Bomber s sons and daughters have been very well received and add in the service to 20/20 Freeride 18B this could be a very valuable calf. Service April 20th-july 20th 20/20 Freeride. Preg checked favorable to a early to mid Feb due date.

A maternal sister sold at the Touch of Class last year to Northern View Angus. Her dam has been an excellent producer for us. This heifer is soggy made with good neck extension and is structurally correct. Her sire JL Upward has had a huge impact on our herd by adding length and muscle to his offspring. She is AI’d to SAV Replica 9494 on April 23, 2015. He is a full brother in blood to Traveller 004, which we own him with Black Ridge Angus. His calves have been outstanding with performance in the past years.

Here is a new twist to the Red Angus breed. Shane has been intrigued with 317A since she was a calf. He tried to convince us to sell her in the Masterpiece sale in 2014. When he came to select this summer we chuckled as he selected her calf. The wheels started to spin and he convinced us to offer choice. 317A was shown as a bred heifer. She is a clean fronted moderate first calver with a tremendous udder, excellent temperament and neck extension. Another exciting feature is she is bred to our new herd sire Blairswest Power Up 1B who was intermediate champion at Agribition last year and was recently reserve yearling bull at Manitoba Ag Ex showing with the Black Angus. Exposure April 9 – August 5, 2015. Her calf 517C was born small with lots of growth like all the Detour calves we had this year. She is very clean fronted, very long spined with tons of dark cherry red hair. She has a wide top with good spring of rib.

42C is one of the first All State calves born at the Wright’s. All State was a bull we used on a select group of cows and heifers to infuse the maternal merit of Red Towaw Integrity 17M into our cowherd; he didn’t disappoint. This March heifer has as much potential to be a show heifer as any. 42C has muscle shape in an ultra sound package coupled with a great look.

We have retained three of four daughters of 54T and the fourth one is working for Jakd Cattle Co at Weyburn. Proven maternal genetics bred into this gem as she is phenotypically flawless and as sound as you can make them. She is due February 9th to Red DKF Power 50B, a grandson of EXAR 263C with a shot of Right Time and Northern Improvement and comes out of a Knight Hawk/ Debbie cow. You can’t beat that for different and especially predictable.

A fresh mating off a proven cow who earned her way to donor status. She’s a daughter of the Zama bull we owned with Wilbar that left a tremendous set of females and 216N is a shining example of that. 216N ended up out at Bow Valley this spring and the first flush that she was done to was Jagger. The first calves have hit the ground this year and have been to say the least. Lots of frame and stretch and those growth numbers are looking to be true! Great footed and udder with her calves always being at the front end of the pen. Notable accomplishments would include the Approval 62T bull that did such an awesome job at Russ Cowards, Wood Coulee Red Angus. As well 216N is the dam of the Magnum bull that U2 purchased a few years back as well and did such an awesome job as well. In Mexico this fall at the Secretariat her granddaughter was Reserve Champion Female. Selling 3 Embryos with a guarantee of 1 Pregnancy if implanted by an accredited vet. FOB Bow Valley Genetics.

On offer today is 20 straws of semen in 2 packages of 10 straws each. (There will be a maximum of 80 straws selling for the 2016 breeding season). The genetic footprint that Ghostrider has left behind is really starting to show up as time passes. His first daughters have done a great job of raising a good one and getting bred back. His sons are simply impressive – they are born easily and then grow very well. They are very docile and possess above average muscle mass. Their ability to convert feed into pounds is well above average. There is definitely a limited supply of semen so get some while you can. To honor my words to the buyers of the 60 straws for 2015 this semen purchased today will be held for release until January of 2016.

When I got the chance to purchase the rights to flush one of the top black cows in the breed I jump on it. 86P is one of the cornerstone females of Pugh farms in Edgerton, Alberta. Her production record is to long to list with many calves becoming many time champions in various shows around Canada. Merit Big Dawg 3049A was the easy choice when I came to figure out who I’d use to flush 86P to. A very interesting mating on two individuals that are big and powerful and yet carry a minus birthweight EPD in a big way! Hi Capacity 800M was Brylors Syndicate Bull in 2004 at $21,000 to Hamco in Manitoba. He is a super maternal, calving ease specialist at it’s finest! Sons of his are tremendously popular with the commercial cowboys at Brylors Bull Sale averaging over $9000 on 8 sons in 2014. One of Mulberry’sgreatest daughters ever. What a sight to behold when you get a look at her! She is one of those cows whose body mass, whose overall size and scale plus volume will forever be burned in your retinas. She is almost to much female for the average Joe....Almost I said! She has a near perfect foot and an udder and a disposition that’s second to none. 1 Package of 3 Embryos (FOB DRI) Guarantee of 1 Pregnancy if implanted by an accredited vet.
