The Jewel of the Corridor Located on the Balcones Fault, San Marcos, Texas is a beautiful area that connects the exquisite Texas Hill Country with the majestic Coastal Plains. As its nickname suggests, the ‘Jewel of the Corridor’ that stretches along Interstate Highway 35 is not only lovely, but a rare find as well. The best part is that San Marcos is just twenty-nine quick miles south of Austin. San Marcos is home to Texas State University and boasts of a thriving community that keeps the area fun and exciting while preserving its historical authenticity. Be sure to visit The Square, where you will find restored historic buildings hosting a wealth of unique retail shops, delicious cuisine and nighttime entertainment. San Marcos regularly draws in Texans with its fun river activities, including tubing, canoeing and swimming, but don’t miss other sights of interest like Wonder World, Aquarena Springs, the LBJ Museum, and nearby Natural Bridge Caverns.
