ACADEMIC WORKS I decided to present my academic work showing the different approaches to architecture that I have experienced during the University. In fact, personally i think that the different view you can have from the same architectural object has always been interesting, because it depends on the scale of analysis, study, observation, and design. So, the architecture shows different needs and for this reason the architect should be able to provide a proper response to those needs. Consequently, I have tried to experiment with multi-scale approaches to architectural artifacts, starting from the study of a technological pillar, passing through the design of various sizes buldings until the study of the city. In particoular, I developed my works in this order: _ Making models

MAKING MODEL Workshop Red Hook NY Herzog & De Meuron 1111 Lincoln Road Miami Florida USA 2005 - 2010 The aim of this work was the knowledge of the technological detail of a building. I choose this project because i think it is very interesting from the technological point of view. It is a parking with a good developed structure, characterized by irregular pillars. This is possible using a complicate weaving of shackles. For this reason, after i had analysed the building and i had re-designed its planimetry and the section, i reproduced a piece of a pillar using some shackles to make the internal plot. I replaced concrete with some chalk to obtain the same result.

INTERNAL LANDSCAPE Workshop Red Hook NY The parasitic logic presupposes a relationship of exchange and dependence of the parasite against the host. It is not a simple job of adding and / or reuse of an existing architectural body, but an intervention that changes the host organism giving a new compositional logic and functional that provides added value. The parasite is an architectural object that alone would have no meaning but that takes meaning and value in contact with the host, becoming part of a broader logic that involves the entire body which lays down new rules. In that project the results are different collages that provide ideas about the parasitic logic. I worked on a pre-existing abandoned warehouse that is a very common building in Red Hook. So the aim was to choose a building and i prefered think about a way to retrain all the area proposing an easy parasitic operation. The first collage is about the internal space, that can be managed and organised using pre-existing body to have a more flexible space. The second is about the possibility to use a parasite over the main body to create a landmark for the district. Hescher | Metamorphosis

NEW LANDMARKS The parasitic organism is not always tations depending on the characteristics and potential of the host body , as if it sprang from the depths .The parasite organism logic is not imposed simply on the host, but it expands up to invest the surrounding context, organism alters the normal perception of the place that one has. This because object not just from the physical point of view , but also from the conceptual point of view , giving to the global area a new role and a new identity. Therefore the parasite assumes a dual role depending on your point of view from which it is experienced : outside it is perceived as a new landmark that the area.
NEW INTERNAL COMPLEXITY An architectural approach can be a parasite from spontaneous colonization of space, governed by a grid that feeds on itself and that stands as the

that overlap, coexist and author-generated inside space. Therefore the parasite assumes a dual role depending on your point of view from which it is experienced : from the internal one creating new space and new areas giving greater complexity and richness to the host .

CONSERVATION OF ARCHEOLOGICAL REMAINS Sordello Square Mantova The theme of the project refers to an area located in Piazza Sordello in Mantua where some Roman ruins were found. The project consist of a decrease of the ground level until the ruins, as the will to accept the passage of time and then the layering of events and matter that it entails. The user is thus forced to cross the time in a phisical and metaphorical way, moving and descending from the main square level, refered to the present, to the past. That leads the user to a new reality, where he relates directly to what the story has leave in our hands. The sign on the ground and the consequent fracture of it allow a physical and emotional walk until the underground space, which is enclosed in a prism made of stone blocks. So, the walls allow the light to filter and reach the ruins. Infact, the light is designed as a single source that drives and accompanies the path being laden of symbolic and historical value.

OBJECT OF POETIC REACTION Conca del Naviglio Street Milan The project is located in the historical centre of Milan, near the Roman Archeological park. The aim of the project was the construction of a very small refreshment stop along a street where other buildings were designed by other students. Infact the cafè is along a street that present a double path, one for pedestrian and one for bycicle. The small building’s shape is minimal and dynamic to be the most suitable answer to this movement and speed that is the main feature of that area. For that, the project is designed in very minimal way, just thanks to the use of various concrete walls with a enourmous transparent roof. In particoular, it is made of glass and steel and it has very big dimension to be a protection for all the people who need a fast refreshment during their sport activities.

ARTISTS ATELIER MARKET 24 Maggio Square Milan The theme of the project refers to an empty area located in the center of Milan. The aim is the projection of an urban center. Firstly the vacuum appears as laceration due to bombing during the war in 1943 and afetrwards to the speculation. In addition there are the archaeological Roman remains which were found under the soil level. The project consists in a building which is composed by different elements in a strong relationship. Infact there are various volumes with different direction and dimension, which at the same time coexist in a particoular balance, merging and overlapping themself each other. So, the body museum building is made by parts with different features regarding the plan as the front. In general, the formal disposition and composition create a flow system, that leads internal spaces to have a suitable flexibility and continuity for a museum. Moreover, another important aspect is the wish to recreate the compact front on the street. From that, this part of the building is the only one that remains with the same dimension trought the street. This compact front is completly closed on the public street. On the opposite side, the urban center disposition creates a square that goes down until the Roman ruins, giving the possibility to have a phisical connection between the present and the history.

The workshop name is “Metabolism of a city between maintenance, trasformation and substitution strategies”. It provides three different scales of intervention: a metropolitan area, a neighborhood area and a building area. Also the students have to consider five main topics: - the natural ecosystems and urban ecologies - the resilience, transition processes and urban growth - layered infrastructures and post industrial environments - public spaces between urban morphologies and new building typologies - retrofitting strategies, new materials and digital tools. I decided to work on the neighborhood area to have the possibility to have an intermediate view and so, to be able to relate with both scales: the metropolitan one and the architectural one.
Analyzing Red Rook , I focused on some elements that have become the guidelines of the project. Firstly, the grille and the contrast between the rigid organization of streets and avenues in Manhattan and the flexibility in Red Hook. This because Red Hook is the result of the existence and the intersection of two different grids. In particular, we focused on the grid that mark distinguishes the area of the waterfront. Also I proceeded identifing areas with higher quality potential. From this the choice of pixels, conceptual implementation of a new grille, sized in relation to a lesser extent of the lot and governed by two differrent logical methods: through the color and the density that identify different qualities. For settlements the color is related to the function, while for the water is in relation to the depth and then to its ability to be exploited. Consequently some main point emerged from pixel complexity, which correspondes with the main point with an higher quality.

KOINè COLLECTIVE I founded a collective with some university colleagues and friends in 2012. We have felt the need to do something to ourself all together, to have the possibility to use our immagination and our wish to product somenthing. So we started to self-produce some design objects with recycle material and to organize some artistic event around Milan, especially during the Design Week. Right now, we have collaborated with some relevant institutions in Milan, such as Fabbrica del Vapore, Triennale design museum, Ventura Lambrate, Il cubo. So we have had the possibility to collaborate with some Italian artists. For example, we organized an event, called ‘Void’, in which Pietro Pirelli worked with us. In particular during a workshop in Fabbrica del Vapore sponsored by the municipality of Milan, we meet some artists like our tutors: Mario Airò, Stefano Dugnani and Diego Perrone ( www.pensoconlemieginocchia.com), Pietro Spoto (www.studioliquido.it).

VOID The Cube Milan Void was the first project of Koine collective. It was an exhibition of photographs taken by some members of the collective. The photographs that have been exhibited enclose the desire to capture the energy of romance and genuine relationship that binds man to space, transmitted in the shots “stolen” in the world, on the street, in a moment in which the matter (the architecture) joins the spirit (the human soul) in order to create an artistic feeling intimately. Therefore, we have dealt so the design and construction of the supports for the photographs.

TUB_AZIONI Design Week Milan During the “Salone del Mobile” event in Milan, Koinè Collective will present two projects born from the idea of using recycled materials to create original low-cost products that will animate the first place of socialization par excellence: the Living Room. The installations will be located directly on the streets, charting a course that will bring them from Lambrate to Porta Genova, in search of people who will personally live the living room, making alive objects and places thought directly with the purpose of a meeting.

CMYK Design Week Milan
For 2013 Milan Design Week, Koinè presents CMYK. The volumetric composition, made by elements of different shape and dimension, interacts with the space and creates a place of sharing. The solids’ made structure offers a place for staying and attracts the attention of people passing by through its bright shining colors. All the elements were built by Koinè Collective.

CAPTIVI The Cube Milan
Captive born from the desire to combine art and music. This symbiosis has been presented in via della Moscova in the local “The cube”. It is a co-starring Koine Collective, a pianist and a Milanese artist who works with the hydrophones. All this has been able to live thanks to the realization by Koinè Collective of a cage made with real maeteriali scrap and canvas in which the pianist has played. Thanks to the sound level produced by the hydrophones have taken life. The pianist inside the cage was visible only through his own shadow that was created thanks to lights that are placed in front of the canvas itself.

NOUVELLE VAGUE Workshop Fabbrica del Vapore Milan
The workshop promoted by ViaFarini, in collaboration with Studio Liquid and Elita and under the supervision of I with my knees, involved a group of about 18 young creatives called to devise a possible layout for the spaces of the Cathedral of the Steam Factory. The project aimed to rein- vent a space combining functionality and creativity with a focus on realistic economic impact. It is therefore characterized as a result of careful reflection on the usability of the Cathedral of the Ste- am Factory, proposing a vision at the same time simple, but effective, able to accommodate and give shape to a wide range of initiatives and, therefore, ask the service of production and cultural reception of Milan. The objectives set were: usability, openness to different solutions or through a modulation of the space, Sustainability / feasibility, ie limitation of the costs of material, Visibility, or looking for a strong characterization in the style and organization of space. The choice was to design the slats of metal mesh that space could be redesigned so that they can have an important role both in the physical and visual quality of the acoustics and the modularity and crawl space.
