Editors Note Gracious is Our Lord, Merciful and Kind. We have been blessed with another Beautiful Autumn, with Family and Friends, as well as, the time we will share together this season that will leave tender memories on our hearts and soul forever. I like to think that each color is a gift and story unto its own and shares with us How Amazing our LORD is. Yellow/Gold represents the crown upon his head. Orange represents every brilliant sunrise he has given unto us all the days of our lives. Unto him I will always give praise. Red represents the blood of Christ that claims us as his own and every beautiful sunset he has given us every day of our lives. Brown represents the earth beneath our feet that cleanses us, grounds us and feeds us, as well as, covers us when it is time to rest before we go home unto him; like a blanket of promise, he will come again. Fading greens proves there is rest and rejuvenation within him and Purple the color of our Savior’s robe, what shame for me he bore as he stood alone on that day. For each of us autumn brings something different to our hearts and soul. These Beautiful Colors whisper to me – Your Best Friend May this season bring Warmth, Family, Friends and Comfort in knowing ‘You Are Loved. Much Love & Light, Sharon Gulley

Jennifer C. Foxworthy, MSW, MSM, DTM When you are healed, delivered, and set free, other people’s opinions and insecurities become irrelevant. ~Jennifer Foxworthy. Above all, Jennifer is living proof that dreams, passions, and goals are obtainable if you trust in God, surround yourself with positive people, and put one foot in front of the other.

Jennifer C. Foxworthy was born and raised in York, Pennsylvania; once she graduated high school from William Penn Senior High in 1991, she embarked on a journey that would lead her into an illustrious career serving in the United States Navy. Jennifer served her country proudly for 21 years (September 23, 1991, to April 30, 2013) retiring as a Chief Petty Officer (E7). In the first four years of her Naval career, Jennifer was an Ocean Systems Technical Analyst (OTA). Her job entailed detecting, localizing, and tracking enemy submarines. Wanting to try something different, she eventually signed up for and went through the Naval Aircrew Candidate training in Pensacola, Florida in 1995. One of her greatest accomplishments was being among the elite few to graduate from this school. Surprisingly, she was the first African American female in over five years to complete this training. For over 14 years as an Air crewman, she flew on three different platforms (E6-A, P-3, and EP-3), flew in combat missions in support of three wars (Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq), logged over 3700 flight hours and received four Air Medals. She also knocked down stereotypes by becoming the first African American female Air crewman, the first African American Air crewman in the enlisted ranks, and the first female In-Flight Technician during her squadron tours. 25

Jennifer’s distinguished military career didn’t stop there; she changed her focus in the military from Active Duty warfare to Active Duty welfare and completed the Substance Abuse and Rehabilitation Program School in Point Loma, California in 2010. In December 2011, she became a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADCI). She expertly managed over 119 drug and alcohol abuse/dependency cases, facilitated 212 hours of Early Education and Awareness classes, and conducted 490 hours of therapy sessions that fostered successful drug and alcohol abuse/dependency recovery plans. Jennifer reaped the rewards of working hard, helping others, and being a role model. She earned numerous personal achievements and awards including Outstanding Military Person of the Year (an honor recognized by the Washington State Masons), 2007 Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Sea Sailor of the Year, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals as well as other unit and campaign awards. She also earned a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship as an Electronics Mechanic through the United States Department of Labor in May 2009. Jennifer is excited and passionate about her second career choice as the proud Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Inspirationally Speaking, LLC where she is a powerful motivational speaker, sought after public speaking coach, and prolific blogger of G.U.M.B.O (Greatness Unbounded Moving Beyond Ordinary). She is also the Founding President and Chief Executive Officer of Unstoppable You Ministries, Inc., which is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization and social enterprise. Jennifer continues to make a positive impact as the event organizer and host of the Unstoppable You Conference, which has become a movement requested around the country. 26

In addition, she is the published author of her first book titled ‘Tomorrow My Sunshine Will Come: Memoirs of Women Who Survived Domestic Violence.’ Jennifer also added TV Show Host to her list of endeavors. Her show, Living Unshackled ON Purpose, provides insight and inspiration while giving a 360degree perspective into the horrible epidemic of domestic violence and sexual assault and everything in between. Not willing to shy away from challenges, Jennifer was added to a phenomenal list of corporate speakers to give professional development training to the College of Southern Maryland’s business clients. Wanting to make an impact at the local, state, and national level, she is an active member of Women Veteran Speakers (WVS), Women Speakers Association (WSA), Concerned Black Women of Calvert County (CBW), a lifetime member of Women Veterans Interactive (WVI), Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence (MNADV), and Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) of Toastmasters International as well Talk of The Town club Vice President of Education. Believing that higher education is paramount, in March 2012, Jennifer received an Associate of Science in Business Administration Degree from Columbia College of Missouri and is an active Alumnus. She then went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Communications (2015) and Master’s in Management with a focus of Public Relations (2017), both degrees earned from the University of Maryland University College. In May 2020, Jennifer earned her fourth degree a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Salisbury University. 27

Humbled and honored to be nominated, Jennifer was recognized as the Calvert County Commission for Women’s 2015 Outstanding Achievement Award in Business Leadership. She also was the recipient of the Columbia College of Missouri Alumni’s 2015 Jane Froman Courage Award, as well as, the 2015 Concerned Black Women’s Community Excellence Award. I am Laurie Zoock and I’ve spent my life following The Golden Rule to help others be lifted up in some way. Whether it’s been working in sales and PR, volunteering for Great Dane Rescue, teaching PR, teaching consumers about credit, or just helping someone out, I’ve done my best to follow what my mother taught me. Most people are appreciative; however, I have come across people that are phony and evil and I have been deceived by them. Sadly, in the end I believe people will get what is coming to them, good or bad.

I am a Specialty Publicist Connector. I have a Sales and PR background. Unlike many PR agencies, rather than add a commission on top of any vendors for specialties that someone may need, I have specific top-notch, reasonable priced vendors that pay me a referral fee off of their standard pricing so it’s less expensive and I offer a menu of options. For example, if someone is looking for a song or jingle, or digital billboards, or amazing artwork, a great business consultant, LinkedIn Marketing, I connect them directly to professionals as part of The Public Relations Alliance. I’ve never had a complaint—only happy people! What inspires you? You may laugh at this, but my Great Dane Nash inspires me. Every day when he wakes up, he is a happy dog! Helping others also inspires me, which is why I hosted 2 consumer advocacy shows in the past and also did a variety show. I am the Admin for a closed FB group of media hosts, where hosts can help each other out.

Name something you would like to be remembered for. I would like to be remembered as being a good and kind teacher. Watching my former piano students grow up on FB as adults now and seeing how I’ve influenced their lives as a positive role model, means a lot. Tell us about yourself. I have arrived at this particular point in my life by taking the scenic route, often filled with pratfalls and new beginnings. After a life spent experiencing trials by fire while simultaneously navigating choppy waters; I am passionate about helping others navigate their own paths and become the very best version of themselves they can be.

I have always been a passionate writer and lyricist, and I recently created a children’s book series and I am also currently working on several screenplays. Having been told early in my adulthood that as an employee I would make an excellent entrepreneur, I started and have grown and/or run several small businesses. Currently, I am an author and publisher, real estate broker specializing in vineyard properties and a Reiki Master and life coach in southeastern Arizona. As usual, she lives with a rather large menagerie of rescued animals and way more gardens and other projects than any truly sane person would attempt to handle. What inspired you to write ‘Laehli & the Elephants,’ a child’s Book? I've always been sort of an animal activist and it is projected within the next 15 years wild elephants will be gone from Thailand forever. When I thought about writing a book about the Thai elephants I thought maybe it should be a children's book. Since my youngest grandson is deaf I decided it should be a children's book with a deaf hero...or heroine in this case.

What are you hoping children will get out of your book? Mostly a love for nature and for protecting nature, also knowledge that those who are "differently abled" are very capable and can do anything they want. You have a series of these Beautiful books, am I correct? The first three have been published; there are a total of 18 planned. You wrote in and published a DV Anthology called, ‘Resilient.’ Can you share with us a little bit about this beautiful Anthology? 43

Resilient is about surviving domestic violence and abuse. I put it together because, as a survivor myself, I know many who have gone through similar or the same things. No one should ever feel they are alone, so I decided to do an anthology so that many people could share their respective stories hoping readers will identify with one of the authors and know they, too, will survive. You also wrote and published a book called, ‘Lyric & Lines from another Life’ Can you Tell us about it? I have what I refer to as a "distant past in the music industry" and I've written many songs and/or song lyrics. Over the years I had amassed a large collection of various things I'd written so I decided to combine them all in one book. It's primarily things I wrote in my 20's and 30's so I decided to refer to my "other life" in the title. Though there are some more recent writings in there too.

What do you love most about Writing & Publishing? I've always written so it's just what I do, it's just me being me. Publishing came along as a result of my trying to get my first book "When on the Road to Enlightenment, Don't Forget to Take out the Trash" published. A publisher actually told me I should really just do my own publishing company rather than shop my book to publishers. So I did. Do you have a favorite quote or saying that you use for times of encouragement? My grandmother used to say "in 50 years none of this will matter" anytime something had gone wrong, I tend to use that quote. Then again I quote my grandmother quite a bit. 44

How has COVID 19 touched your life and what are you doing to move forward during this time of change? Other than cutting my book tour short and very nearly stranding me on the east coast back in March it really hasn't touched my life at all. I tend to live in my own private world and really don't venture too far from home most of the time. Do you have anything you would like to share? I'd just like to wish people peace. There's too much hostility and frustration going on in the world right now, I'd really like people to realize what's truly important and that love really is the answer.

What inspires you? Life and Getting up, and doing the thing I love to do. Life is a blessing. Name one thing you would like to be remembered for. It’s probably going to be headbands but what I would like to be remembered for is giving others hope, faith, and motivation to go for it. How has the COVID 19 affected you and how have you managed to move through these questioning times? No. We’ve been fortunate enough to have work. My husband has a contracting business and most of those jobs are vacant buildings and such. And as far as my business….it’s all online! What is your favorite quote or scripture you turn to in times of needing encouragement? I will never profess that I can remember a quote or scripture because I will always be journeying my way through the bible. But one has always stood out when I first begun my journey…Jeremiah 29:11 A flash ahead, what does 2021 look like for you and your businesses? 49

No, I didn't take the line out and settled for a lower grade. When the college published my writing and my friends’ photography (we were ahead of our time) in a book for proceeds to the school book store. They kept it in and no modifications. You are a Beautiful Little People You’re full of life virgin beauty, learning and exploring life, to its greatest heights. Just Down the Road Just down the road there is a golden field of hay, where there once stood a home where my sister and I did play. The moss covered trees and yellow daffodils bloomed, and the smell of Mother's clothes drying as the hot, summer sun fumed. The air was filled with the June bug's song as the sound of the tractor tilling echoed along the farm. My sister's hair was honey blond and how she would laugh when I tag along; eyes of blue as the sky above, but just being her sister brought to my heart, so much love. Day would pass and night appeared, and the moon brought fireflies to enchant the way to the raspberry patch where we believed, fairies did stay. It's time to come in Pa, would say, “Oh let us have just one more minute Pa, and we'll be on our way.” Time has passed and childhood is gone but for me, Just down the road, these memories will forever live on. 60

Faith in Business Today as we move through the years of Entrepreneuralship, we find there are many Businesses that incorporate Faith within their foundation; this is something I am so very happy to see. There has been great discussion about Business and Faith and how one has nothing to do with the other but you can see how having Spiritual Faith has changed the mindsets of so many and has allowed other’s to climb to great heights as we believe in a Powerful Source to move us forward to our accomplishments with Grace. Many of us have been taught from a young age that if we ask, and believe; we shall receive. I feel that when we have our Career focus and Health focus added to a Spiritual focus; we are caring for our Mind, Body & Spirit, which keeps us balanced and reflective to all we do in our lives, making us happier with the long daily routines in our lives. There are many Spiritual Businesses today, not just Churches apply Spiritual Faith but Outreach Centers, Life Coaching Services, Mentoring Services, Radio and Broadcast Services, Hospitals, Schools, Not-For-Profit Organizations and so many more. Many of our Speakers today mention Faith and how it has changed their lives. This is what some call sharing testimonies of Faith in Action with others. For me the Small Business Trend’s statement proves that Expectations in Faith, promises health, wealth and prosperity in his name and it is a reminder that God’s love and promise is just as alive today as it ever was. I am Rachael Polskin- entrepreneur and Owner of Feel Good Coffee House. I started Feel Good Coffee House in 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida. I answered my calling to provide a real, genuine, fresh cup of coffee to the community. In 2018 I moved the business to New Jersey. I am born and raised in New Jersey, and I enjoy being back in my roots! I have always had a serious love for coffee. Since I can remember my family would get together, just for coffee and cake. Sharing coffee creates intimacy and symbolizes a coming together of people and ideas. So many people start their day with coffee or tea. After years of serving coffee working for others, I knew I wanted to create my own vision of serving coffee to people. I invested in a roaster, and taught myself how to roast coffee. I knew from research and experience, that the best coffee is always fresh roasted. Countless hours of research and practice have been put into creating the best cup of coffee I can create. I have developed a deep passion for roasting coffee- which I do for myself, but more importantly I do it for you!

Originally, I wanted to serve people fresh roasted, brewed coffee out of my truck named “Journie.” Journie is an antique Grumman Olson box truck from the 1960’s. She is very special indeed, and she has been completely renovated and made over to match my vision of a small, mobile coffee house. I even installed my small batch roaster on board, so I could serve fresh roasted coffee anytime, anyplace. For the future, I imagine Journie doing her thing at stadiums, festivals, and beachside for the summer. Currently, she is the permanent roastery of Feel Good Coffee House, and together we make the magic happen for you to enjoy at home. 70

Fall Recipe Share Homemade Apple Dumplings - Southern Style This is my Mother’s recipe I am sharing today. She used to make this for us in the Fall. It was always fun when she decided to make this for we got to pick our apples and help her make them. In sharing this, I hope it brings good memories shared together with your children too. Hall Fall Ya’ll!! 6 Apples of your choosing 1 cup of brown sugar Butter Cinnamon Sugar and/or Apple Pie Spices Wash and peel apples, then place them in a baking pan that has been brushed with butter. Place the apples in the baking dish. Put a tsp of butter in the centers of each apple and then sprinkle your favorite seasonings over the apples and let bake 15 to 20 minutes, or until done. While the apples are baking you can make your pie crust or if you would rather, you can use tiny, pre-made pie shells from your favorite grocer. Pie Crust Recipe 2 cups of All-Purpose Flour Pinch of salt 2 tbsp of Crisco or butter flavored Crisco or lard 2 tbsp’s of water Blend the lard into the flour in a large bowl until the flour and lard are completely blended. When complete it should be soft and crumbly, if not add a little more lard or Crisco. Once blended add 2 tbsp of water to the crumbly mix and blend into a ball; if the mix is a little too dry and a drop or two more of water. You want to be able to form a firm but manageable ball. Cover and let sit while waiting for the apples to be done. Once the apples are done, set aside and let cool so you can handle them with ease. You can now start rolling out your dough. Pull a 3 to 4 cm amount of dough from the dough ball (depending on size of apples) and roll out a circle on a floured surface. Brush circle with butter and place apple in the center, fill with brown sugar and spices (add Carmel squares in centersOptional.) Cover apple completely until sealed closed by pinching together the dough on top. Brush tops with butter and sprinkle a little spice on top of them when you have placed them on a sprayed or butter baking sheet. When all apples are done, bake at 375 for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with your favorite ice cream or garnishments. Enjoy! 78
