Pet-friendly cities, unleashed
H
ere’s a fact you can shake on—72% of dog owners would consider moving to a new home that is better suited for the needs of their pet, according to a recent study. “It’s clear our pets are at the center of our families, and they’re influencing how and where we live,” says Kate Jaffe, a trends expert at Rover.com. “We want our pets to be happy and owning a pet can improve our own health and well-being. Moving to a location with a big backyard and proximity to a park can not only improve our pet’s life, it may also lead to more exercise, more outdoor time and more social interaction that can actually make an impact on our own happiness.” Owners agree—and are flocking to pet-friendly cities. Zillow and Rover compiled a list of the top 20 fastest growing that includes: Antioch, Tennessee; Baltimore, Maryland; Alexandria, Virginia; Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; Kansas Tucker and I walk the neighborhood City, Kansas; and my original hometown of Grand Rapids, paths every day :) Michigan—contact me for the full list. n MORE LIGHTING TRENDS (from reverse side): Scan the code at left to check out my recent experience at an after-hours tour of Littman Brothers lighting showroom.
