We truly appreciate your commitment to the Charolais breed and would like to help you to continue being a part of it. The ticket you received as part of your Alberta Charolais Association Breed Award from 4-H or a picture of your last year’s Charolais or Charolais influence project allows you to register for your sale credit. Due to the circumstances this year we have changed the requirements and you do not need to be present at the sale but instead can join us online through DLMS. If you wish to use this option, please preregister for your credit or as always, we look forward to having you join us at the sale. As you peruse the catalogue, you will see that the consignors have once again put forth truly top-quality cattle that will make great additions to any herd. Don’t forget to purchase your ticket for the chance to win a $10,000 credit towards the sale or any bull in the barn and it’s worth noting that you do not have to be present to win. We once again look forward to recognizing our breed award winners as part of our Annual General Meeting which will now be on Friday afternoon. All breeders are welcome to join our AGM and be involved in what we have done and are doing. From the desk at TBar... Welcome to the 2020 edition of the Alberta Select Charolais Female Sale, December 12, at Westerner Park, Red Deer, Alberta. Over the past several years, Alberta Select has graduated to become the elite source of high quality Charolais breeding stock in the nation. This event runs in conjunction with the Alberta Charolais Association Annual Meeting, as well as a Friday evening individual bull show and a Saturday morning pen of bulls competition. In this unusual year, which forced the cancellation of beef competitions, including FarmFair International in Edmonton, the Alberta Select event stands alone as the only live event to compare and evaluate breeding programs and the rewards of the 2020 calving season. That said, the progressive breeders of Alberta have come together to present and offer a truly outstanding offering of breeding stock for your evaluation. They have virtually opened their gates and allowed us to select from the most prolific cow families in their herd. The breds are a group of front pasture females with early services to the freshest genetics in the breed. These females are Chris Poley a month or so from giving you a return on your investment and in many cases, as has been proven in the past, the first calf 306-220-5006 could pay for its mother. The 2020 models are exciting and futuristic, many of these females exhibit competitive tendencies and will fit juniors of any age. Juniors and 4-H’ers, do not forget about your credit and thank you for exhibiting your Charolais influence project. We all appreciate the value of Charolais bulls in the spring and their influence on a rancher’s pocketbook, but we must remember there is no substitute for quality… therefore young elite Charolais breeding females offer great earning power in any type of breeding program. Since we are nearly at the end of this strange year, tax implications take effect and we all know how badly we want to send a cheque to Ottawa… so act accordingly. This is a tough one to part with. FVC Millie 3B is one of our first registered calves when we started building the herd and has grown into a big foundation of our herd today. Rules & Regulations: • Credit is available to all 4-H members in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia who exhibited a 4-H beef project with a Charolais Influence in 2020. • Each member exhibiting a Char Influenced steer, heifer or cow-calf pair as a 4-H project in 2020 will receive one $1,000 credit which can be used towards the purchase of any lot in the 2020 Alberta Select Sale. Credits cannot be combined and only one credit can be used per lot. • All entrants must be a member of good standing and show proof of membership in an active 4-H club in Alberta or British Columbia for the 2020/21 year in a beef project. • 4-Hers must be between the ages of 9 and 20 as of December 31, 2020 to be eligible . • The credit holds no cash value and if not redeemed for a purchase in the 2020 Alberta Select Sale will become null and void. • The credits are non-transferable. • The credits can be used in a partnership situation as long as the credit holder or the credit holder’s immediate family operation is acknowledged within the partnership group. Only one credit may be utilized per lot. • Further clarification on any rule or regulation for the above promotion will be made by the Alberta Charolais Association Board of Directors, at their discretion. • All 4-H members will be required to register at the designated 4-H Table prior to 12:00 pm, December 12, 2020 at the Red Deer Westerner Grounds. Due to Covid restrictions the ACA has decided to allow eligible 4-H members to use the credit online through DLMS for this year only. PEDIGREE ESTIMATES Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such. HEALTH: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements. GUARANTEE: Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold.
