Whiteside County Sheriff John Booker welcomes dozens of kids and their families to the annual Youth Fishing Derby at Rockwood State Park onSaturday, Sept. 10 The weather was perfect fora morning of fishing at the park,withmany kids reeling them in from Lake Carlton The free fishing contest was open to all youth ages 15 and under, and every kidwho participated gota prize. Grandprizes were awarded for the largest fish in total lengthfor each age category, and special prizes were awardedforindividual efforts. Volunteerswith Lutheran Social Services were painting faces while the derby was going on. Many volunteers and donors made the fun event possible.

When I readthequestion,thefirstissuethat popped into my mind that I would like to change is the constant civil unrest between people of different races and ethnicities in the world. Issues such as climate change, malnutrition and hunger, government corruption areevidentinmanycountriesandin the lives of billions of people. That being said, I cannot answer at this time what I think I would change about the world seeing as there’s so muchthatcouldbeimproved.
