REFUND POLICY AND PROCEDURE

It is the intention of Shawnee County Parks + Recreation to offer a refund and/or account credit for participants who qualify and meet the requirements. All refunds will be issued via check in accordance with the County’s Treasurer’s bill paying schedule. There are no cash refunds.

Programs may be combined or canceled due to insufficient enrollment. A full refund or SCP+R credit will be issued for programs, sports leagues or shelter reservations canceled by SCP+R.

Any account with an outstanding balance will have the requested refund amount applied to that balance. If requested refund amount exceeds the outstanding balance, a refund will be issued.

CANCELLATION

Programs may be combined or canceled due to insufficient enrollment. A full refund or account credit will be issued for programs, sports leagues or shelter reservations canceled by SCP+R. Credit card refunds can only be processed if program was canceled by SCP+R.

SPORTS LEAGUES AND CLINICS, PROGRAMS, ROOM RENTALS

Refunds will be issued with a 20 percent cancellation fee if canceled by participant at least 21 days prior to the program start date. Cancellations less than 21 days prior to the start date will receive a 50 percent account credit. Account credit shall be utilized within 12 months.

SHELTER RENTALS, GREAT OVERLAND STATION AND OLD PRAIRIE TOWN/WARD-MEADE

Refunds will be issued with a 20 percent cancellation fee for rentals canceled by the participant at least 60 days prior to the reservation. Cancellations less than 60 days prior to the reservation date will receive a 50 percent account credit. No account credit will be issued if cancellation is less than seven days of reservation. Any shelter transfer shall follow the refund policy. Transfers to a lower price shelter shall not yield a refund. Account credit shall be utilized within 12 months.

CAMPGROUND

All campground fees are nonrefundable including unused reservations.

SCHOLARSHIPS

“Our vision for programming is to reach out to people of all ages to encourage them to experience parks and recreation facilities through well-designed programs that create a lifetime of memories.”

Shawnee County Parks + Recreation provides a wide variety of recreation opportunities for youth, yet not all families are able to afford the fees for participation in our programs. A youth scholarship program has been designed to assist those who meet the financial guidelines as set forth. Scholarship approval is good from Feb. 1, 2022 to Jan. 31, 2023. Forms are posted at parks.snco.us or call 785-2518600.

SPORTS LEAGUES/CLINICS, PROGRAMS, CAMPS AND ROOM RENTALS

Refunds will be issued with a 20 percent cancellation fee if canceled by participant at least 14 days prior to start date. Cancellations less than 14 days prior to start date will receive a 50 percent SCP+R credit.

SHELTER AND OTHER FACILITY RENTALS

Refunds will be issued with a 20 percent cancellation fee for rentals canceled by the participant at least 30 days prior to the reservation date. Cancellations fewer than 30 days prior to the reservation date will receive a 50 percent SCP+R credit. Cancellations with fewer than 60 days prior to the reservation date will receive a 50 percent account credit. No refund will be issued if cancellation is less than seven days prior to the reservation date. All reservation transfers shall follow the conditions of this policy. Transfers to a lower-priced shelter shall not yield a refund.

CAMPGROUND

All campground fees are non-refundable, including any unused reservations.

SEPT. 10 OUTDOOR KANSAS FOR KIDS DAY

Shawnee North Nature Trail

Archery, casting (fishing) practice, nature painting and more. Time: Sat., 9 a.m.-noon

SEPT. 16-OCT. 2 WARD-MEADE GARDEN GLOW

DEC. 1, 2 & 3 HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS

Experience the charm of the beautifully decorated Old Prairie Town at WardMeade Historic Site and enjoy a Victorian candlelight dinner from an elegant buffet while listening to period music. Please call 785-251-6993 for reservations. Time: 6-9 p.m. (Doors open at 6 p.m. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m.) Fee: $35 per person (includes Victorian dinner, dessert, tour and entertainment)

Ward-Meade Botanical Garden will glow with illuminated annuals, trees and lighted displays including largerthan-life floral displays. Time: 7-10 p.m.

DEC. 3 HOLIDAY CRAFT SHOW

Shop for homemade local goods for the perfect holiday gift. Time: Sat. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Fee: Free Admission

DEC. 10 CHILDREN’S SHOPPING SPREE

Garfield Shelter

The event is for ages 5+ to come shop for gifts from different vendors inside the gym at Garfield Community Center. All items are $10 or less. Interested vendors call 785-251-6950. Time: 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Fee: Free Admission

DEC. 10 OLD PRAIRIE TOWN CHRISTMAS

Old Prairie Town will be filled with activities around every corner. Children can write a letter to Santa, make reindeer feed, see Santa in the mansion and more. Performers will entertain guests with music and dance. Age: Family Friendly Time: Sat. 4-7 p.m. Fee: $5 at the gate
