A place of culture Relax… you are in Bath, the only place in the UK where you can bathe in naturally warmed, mineral rich water, and the ideal place to unwind. Relaxation is integral to the city’s culture, with lazy lunches in luxurious restaurants, meandering scenic walks and leisurely pampering sessions being crucial elements of a stay here. But don’t take too much time out – there is so much to see!
Bath abounds with fascinating galleries and museums, and there is always something else to discover along stunning streets and charming alleyways. Visit the Roman Baths in the city centre, one of the best examples of preserved Roman architecture in the world, or perhaps you’d prefer to discover Bath’s links with fashion, Jane Austen or even American history – the choice is phenomenal.
Shoppers will love the vibrant city centre where the streets are adorned with an eclectic mix of shops. The biggest brands and designer labels sit alongside unique, quaint shops you will find nowhere else.
A true architectural gem, Bath boasts a wealth of exquisite buildings and stunning vistas which have justifiably earned the entire city World Heritage Site status. During your stay you will marvel at the iconic Royal Crescent and Circus – two breath-taking works in golden Bath stone. Visit Pulteney Bridge, one of only two bridges in the world with shops built into the structure, and stroll along Great Pulteney Street, the impressive setting for many a period drama or movie.
The Holburne Museum

A place of style If you love to shop, you’ll love Bath. It is often said that Bath has many more shops than cities twice its size – and it certainly could be true. However we all know that it isn’t just quantity, but quality that counts, and Bath excels here too, with a host of designer boutiques and top quality outlets sitting alongside all of the essential high street favourites. Don’t miss Milsom Street, ‘Britain’s Most Fashionable Street’ and browse through Jolly’s which has dominated the street for over 180 years. In Milsom Place you will find collections from designers such as Alessi, MaxMara, Prada, Marilyn Moore and a mix of independent shops. A new edition to the shopping scene in Bath is SouthGate, a development of modern shops, which blend perfectly with the stunning Bath architecture. With familiar names such as Debenhams, Quicksilver, H&M and Topshop, it truly is 21st century shopping in a beautiful Georgian setting. If you are looking for something unique, try Walcot Street where you will discover a host of quirky stores offering antiques, art and crafts. Here you can watch your own piece of Bath Aqua Glass being blown or even create your own piece of art at The Makery.

If you want to seek some peace, simply find your way to the picturesque alleyways and tranquil parks just steps away from the main shopping areas. However you love to shop, storming around bustling streets or wandering around meandering cobbled alleyways, you will love shopping in Bath.
Don't miss Bath in Fashion - a week long programme of events from 25th - 31st March. Enjoy talks, workshops, in-store promotions and catwalk shows. For more information and to buy tickets call 0844 847 5256.

A place to relax Take time to immerse yourself in Bath’s spa lifestyle, and you will emerge revived and regenerated. Blessed with the UK’s only naturally hot spring, Bath’s story has been shaped by its waters, and it has had spa culture at its heart from its very humble beginnings. Today, relaxation and pampering is the order of the day, and with Bath being home to a number of top quality spa facilities, you are in the right place to indulge. Right in the heart of the thriving city centre you’ll find an oasis of calm at Thermae Bath Spa, the only spa of its kind in the UK, which utilises the city’s natural thermal waters.
The complex combines the best of the historic spa with contemporary architecture and state of the art treatments, while boasting its ‘jewel in the crown’ – a rooftop pool, where you can soak away the hours surrounded by stunning views across the city skyline. Why not book your visit to Thermae with your room – many of the hotels and guesthouses offer Thermae Bath Spa packages for your convenience. Many of the area’s larger hotels house their own spa facilities, so if you are looking for the ultimate pampering break, why not treat yourself to a few days of luxury at one of them? Go on – you deserve it!

A place of great taste The difficulty when dining in Bath is deciding where to eat – the selection is truly mouthwatering. With intimate cafes and bistros lining the shopping streets, and tables and chairs spilling onto the pavements, there is no lack of places to sit back and watch the world go by over lunch. For dinner, why not try one of many top award-winning restaurants, or perhaps a more informal, cosy, fire-lit corner of a traditional English Inn. In a fashionable city like Bath, eating is all about style, and with so many chic restaurants and bars on offer, you can’t fail to be impressed by the variety. Modern, contemporary dining sits comfortably alongside decadent, Georgian tearooms – so dining can be a wonderful experience each and every mealtime.
Côte Brasserie
Wherever you decide, there is sure to be plenty of Bath fayre on offer. Somerset cheeses and ciders are available in many restaurants and shops, and there are other Bath foods that you may not have discovered yet. Find out the stories of two famous types of buns, Bath buns and Sally Lunn buns, and join in the debate – which do you prefer? Find out about how Bath’s history is intrinsically linked with food, and look out for old world recipes making a comeback in the best of the city’s eateries… Bath chaps anyone..? A place to breathe If you find yourself wanting to get outdoors during your stay, you will find plenty of opportunity. Why not take time to wander the meandering paths around the city to view its architecture masterpieces, or enjoy some peace and tranquillity in one of the city’s many stunning parks.
If you want to go a bit off the beaten track and find out about the ‘real westcountry’, why not get out of the city to see the sights – Chew Valley Lake is great for wildlife watchers, while Cheddar Gorge, the biggest gorge in Britain offers spectacular scenery and the chance to get active with caving and climbing.
Royal Victoria Park is just a short stroll from the Royal Crescent, and offers an oasis of calm as well as beautiful gardens to explore. Perhaps you would prefer a brisk, bracing walk or cycle – the riverside and canal-side paths are perfect for this, or the Bath Skyline walk offers wonderful views from the hills surrounding the city.
Maybe you’d like to discover the many market towns and picturesque villages that surround Bath – close by you’ll find Bradford on Avon, offering canal-side dining and walking as well as many delightful unique shops, Radstock, one of the best preserved former coal-mining towns in England, and Lacock – one of the locations used in the Harry Potter films.

A must visit... One of Bath's oldest houses is open every day and evening. Historic English food and drink for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and wonderful candlelit dinners. Museum also open daily. The Sally Lunn is the original Bath Bun. Now world famous, it is a rich round and generous brioche style bun. It is widely reported that Sally Lunn, a Huguenot refugee, came to Bath in 1680 and introduced her light and delicate bun to pre Georgian Bath - quickly becoming part of city's social scene. The original secret recipe is passed on with the deeds to Sally Lunn's House. Sally Lunn's House is a rare reminder of pre-Georgian Bath. But the history of Sally Lunn's House began many hundreds of years before the timber framed construction. In the cellar museum visitors can see the Roman and Medieval foundations of earlier buildings together with the original kitchen. OPEN Open daily from 10am - 10pm (11am on Sundays)
