The Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce remains focused on Workforce Development. We know our members continue to struggle with attracting and retaining talent and with unemployment numbers extremely low in Sheboygan County it makes our pool of opportunity very small. We are pleased to announce the “NEW” Concierge program coming soon in partnership with Sheboygan County. We will make available a full-time staff member at the Chamber to help your new hires settle into our communities successfully. If you are interested in learning more about this program and the many resources available, to include recruitment support, financial resources for entry level workers to assist with moving and financial literacy programming, please contact me at deidre@sheboygan.org. We look forward to welcoming newcomers to our area and immersing them in all that Sheboygan County has to offer.
We just finished celebrating May as Young Professional’s Month. It gave us the chance to showcase our terrific young people. Throughout the next few months we are happy to continue to showcase our wonderful community while we host many interns and co-op’s during the summer. We have got some wonderful experiences planned and now all we need are the interns. Do you have interns during the months of June and July? Would you like to give them an opportunity to be immersed in all that Sheboygan County has to offer while building strong relationships? If you have never participated in the past, I encourage you to visit our website and learn more about the program.

Hello everyone and welcome to June! It’s a great time to get outdoors, set new goals, and reset! You can start by attending your first YP event or bringing a friend to an event with you!
I’d like to start with a recap of YP Month. It was an amazing month full of many different events and activities to participate in. We saw so many new faces, along with familiar ones as well. Thank you to everyone who participated! Our YP Mini Conference was a huge success and a wonderful time. We had two amazing speakers that gave the audience some great advice and a good time. They helped us not only look in the mirror but dig deeper into understanding ourselves and how to better lead and progress. We had a contest to win chamber cash this month. To enter for the drawings, you simply had your name put in a jar for each event you attended last month and for each post you made on social media with our hashtag (#coastalYPN). Our winners were Megan Kennedy-Pierce and Ethan Gruenke. It was the perfect way to end YP month!
June has some exciting things in store as well! This month kicks off our Intern & Co-op program. We will have a welcome party on June 8th from 3-6pm. I am looking for six YP volunteers to help for that day. Please email me if interested. We also have our Out to Dinner with YP’s on June 5th at Vollrath Park for food truck Monday’s. Feel free to join us, bring your kids, dogs, or friends. It’ll be a nice opportunity to eat outside and enjoy the beautiful weather we are finally getting.
Coastal YP’s have partnered with Kohler’s YP group this month to bring you Birdies & Bubble at the Kohler Bath Course. There will be 32 tee times available for $25 each and a free mini golf opportunity and a cash bar. Spots are filling fast, so be sure to register asap!
Lastly, I’d like to invite you all to join our text group. I send one text out at the beginning of each week to remind or notify you of what’s to come for the week with YP’s. If you’d like to stay in the know, simply text CYPN to 218-226-8880.
If you have any questions at all, please reach out to me at kierra@sheboygan.org and I’ll be happy to help! Have a great month everyone and As Always, Stay Connected Sheboygan!

Summer is finally here and I am loving it! I hope you have activities planned and events to attend that take place in the great outdoors. Graduations, BBQs, birthdays, beach days, hiking, kayaking, golfing, biking…the list is endless in our amazing community.
There are great things coming your way from the Sheboygan Chamber.
June brings us the third installment of our Professional Development Opportunities 2023: Creating Inclusive Workplaces. Renita Robinson, Vice President-Diversity & Inclusion, Prevea Health, will be our guest speaker for both June and August. The topic will be, Journey to Inclusion. For more information: Renita Robinson: Journey to Inclusion.
To get you thinking ahead to August, I want to share with you the news about our Workforce Development Symposium event held on August 23rd at the beautiful Pine Hills Country Club. We are excited to announce the first ever Workforce Development Symposium Education Awards! Our focus for the 2023 Symposium is to bring together our education and business sectors for a morning of insight, sharing, and collaboration.
Nominations are now being excepted for the awards:
Workforce Development Educator of the Year – Sheboygan County
Workforce Development Business Education Partner of the Year
– Sheboygan County
To nominate, register for this event, or sponsor the event or educators click here: Workforce Development Symposium 2023.
We are swinging away to get the golf outing ready for everyone that will be joining us on August 30th at Quit Qui Oc Golf Course. For all of you that have been before, you know it’s a good time filled with fun, lots of laughter, great banter, and there might be a little bit of competition among friends. If you have not joined us in the past, what are you waiting for? Get a team together and hit the links for a good time! Golfer registration opens on June 5th. I suggest registering your team ASAP, as this is a sell-out event every year.
Not a golfer? There are other ways to participate such as sponsorships (starting as low as $150) or the 19th Hole Dinner party after the event. Check out the website for sponsorship opportunities and golfer registration. Annual Golf Outing Sponsorship and Registration.
Questions about future events? Would you like to host a VIBE@5 in 2024? Feel free to reach out. I am glad to help answer any questions.
Enjoy the sun and see you at the next Chamber event. They are where it is at!
~Christy
