NOVEMBER 2020
UPCOMING Events
A Letter From the President November is a month that reminds us to be thankful! As the recent times have challenged us all we need to remind ourselves that even though we may be experiencing frustration and anxiety we can still be thankful. We may be experiencing the Chamber roundtables virtually, tuning in to Martha VandeLeest the many virtual Chamber programs or seeing our families virtually for Thanksgiving. We can be so thankful that we can still connect and be reminded of how creatively responsive we have all had to be since March.

ATHENA Leadership Awards Luncheon 2020 @ Weill Center
The chamber staff has done a great job in continuing to readjust each month to provide virtual services and programs. A great example is moving forward with the annual ATHENA event safely by creatively limiting capacity and social distancing and offering virtual live streaming, while still providing a rewarding program. I would like to thank all of our members and the chamber staff for all of the collaborative team efforts it took for pulling off event after event and program after program safely and virtually, as needed. I want to wish all of our members a wonderful November and safe Thanksgiving as we reflect on all we have accomplished so far this year.

Molly, Coastal YPN Liaison Hey there Coastal YPN Nation! I hope that everyone is adjusting to this chilly weather better than I am! It came fast and boy was I not prepared! Never the less, Happy November! Coastal YPN had a very exciting October with six events including celebrating YPWeek! For those who do not know YPWeek is an initiate created by a group in Milwaukee called Newaukee. It is a statewide celebration to bring all the young professionals into a group setting to celebrate their hard work. This year was quite different as Newaukee canceled their events and transitioned to two virtual events instead of hosting in person events for the week of the October 17-24th.
Molly Talaska
In an effort to bring some normalcy back into our world, Coastal YPN chose to keep our in person events for October 19-22. We limited our events to a capacity of ten people and were socially distant and masked unless eating or drinking. We had a great turn out for each event and everyone was very pleased to meet in person again. We hope that everyone who attended enjoyed our events and brought value to your personal and professional lives! A special thank you to our sponsors, Kohler Co., UnitedOne Credit Union, Sargento Foods, Prevea Health, Johnsonville and Lake 98.1. A special thank you to 3 Sheeps Brewing Company, Kohler Swing Studio and Booth Leadership! With the end of the year coming near, I am asking you all for a favor. We are in a transition phase within the Coastal committee and are looking for eager and emerging leaders from all over the county to add to our committee. If you, or someone you know is interested in becoming more involved in our network, please reach out to Molly via email; molly@sheboygan.org or by phone at 920-457-9491.

News from THE DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT As we roll into November and look back on the past 10 months, I can’t help but think “where in the world did 2020 go?”. Many of us are now focusing and praying 2021 will be a year of normalcy. But even as your limits were stretched, they were not broken, and now is the time to get back on that horse and ride! It’s a great time to re-evaluate yourself, your business or employer. Asking yourself these three questions can help you set the tone & dive deeper into 2021: 1. Why do you do what you do? What’s the purpose? 2. How do you do what you do? 3. What do you do?
Scott Kuehn
These three questions are part of what’s called the Golden Circle. The Golden Circle theory explains how leaders can inspire cooperation, trust and change in a business based on research by Simon Sinek as to how the most successful organizations think, act and communicate, if they start with why. Sinek’s Golden Circle model is an attempt to explain why some people and organizations are particularly able to inspire others and differentiate themselves successfully. “The neuroscience behind the Golden Circle theory is that humans respond best when messages communicate with those parts of their brain that control emotions, behavior and decision making”.1 Now, you’re probably wondering why I’m bringing this up? Your Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce is here to help your employees achieve these results and help differentiate your business from others to build on your success. How can we help you achieve these results? Networking, developing and building relationships is a great place to start. Who do you want to do business with? People you know and trust and joining a Deep Dive or attending roundtables is a great place to start! Utilizing many of your membership benefits will assist you in differentiation which will ultimately lead to sustainability. Please send me an email or give me a call with any questions you may have. You can reach me at scott@sheboygan.org or call me at (920) 395-8705. Our 2021 Sponsorship Opportunities Guide is now available! We are a member centric organization which relies exclusively on memberships and sponsorships. These two avenues allow us to “do what we do”, which includes multiple signature events, over 180 other annual events, provide networking and professional development, and workforce development, just to name a few! Please send me an email or give me a call to get involved today! Dates in 2021 for Business After Hours are being requested now, so don’t wait, give Carol Pringle a call at (920) 395-8706 to schedule your BAH today! There are only (4) months left so call today! Please remember to support our small businesses, restaurants, salons and many others that have been hit hard by this pandemic. They are in dire need of your business. Shop local, and stay healthy, because we are so much #BETTERTOGETHER! See you all soon!
