In this month’s issue you will find—ads. There were a few leading up to this page, before and after She Scene. After this, you will see Multimedia, photos, news, a couple of great interviews, travel ideas, book reviews, a bunch of really great stuff—and in between it all—more ads. Now those ads, let’s talk about them. There are doctors, lawyers, restaurants, salons. We have concert ideas, art shows, photographers, astrologers, self-help resources. Oh and then there are the festivals, travel companies and women’s events. Yeah, these ads pretty much run the gamut. At first glance, you might think of them as just being ads. There might have been one or two that you just breezed right by without really noticing. But let me take a moment to tell what makes every single ad really important. Each and every one of those ads is all about both you personally and the women’s community. Our advertisers aren’t people and companies that just randomly toss ads everywhere. These are companies that made the choice to reach out—to you. Whether it’s a fellow member of the women’s community or not, the hand was extended to say, “Hey! I welcome your business and support your community.” In doing so, they have also literally paid for the magazine you are reading, so that you can have it for free. Coming right on the heels of that ridiculousness in Arizona—take a second to stop and think about how important that really is. So, do me a favor. No, wait, do us both a favor. In about 20 seconds, when you are done reading this, go back to the cover and start again. This time, go slowly; take a good look at every page. In between all those photos, travel ideas, interviews, news, book reviews and more, take note of every company that has reached out to you and for you. And, when the opportunity arises, please, drop them a note, use their service or participate in their event and let them know how much you appreciate it. See you next month.

in the news Adolescents from 2-Mother Lesbian Families Score Higher on Self-Esteem and Lower on Conduct Problems than those from Intact Heterosexual-Parent Families Adolescents with continuously-coupled lesbian mothers had higher self-esteem and fewer conduct problems (such as rule-breaking, vandalism, or getting into fights ) than adolescents with continuously-coupled heterosexual parents, according to a new study released on February 24th by the Williams Institute. Across other indicators of psychological adjustment, (substance usage, and relationships with their parents) the study found that adolescents from intact two-mother lesbian families were comparable to those from intact mother-father families. The study compared 51 adolescents who have been participating in the Dutch Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study (DLLFS) with a matched group of adolescents in heterosexualparent families who were drawn from a large school-based survey in the Netherlands. The two groups of adolescents were matched on age, gender, educational level, country of birth, and parental birth country. By including only families with continuously-coupled parents, the study controlled for factors that might adversely affect outcomes, such as parental divorce. “...this study provides further evidence that raising children in families headed by same-sex couples is not a significant predictor

of adolescent-parent relationships or of a child’s psychological adjustment,” said Principal Investigator Henny Bos, PhD., a former visiting international scholar at the Williams Institute, UCLA School of Law and professor at the University of Amsterdam.

P-TOWN where the women we love

make history!

Sometimes, mistakes of history have a way of migrating through time unchecked, until popular lore overshadows the truth and fiction becomes fact. But if the past is truly prologue, then harkening back to history helps us to explain the present – and this is certainly the case in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Here in America’s First Destination, sunny skies, beautiful beaches, world-class shops, inns, galleries, restaurants and a welcoming sense of peace are all part of a much more interesting story. Contrary to what most people will tell you, the Mayflower Pilgrims did not land near Plymouth Rock. In 1620, that small band of adventurers first stepped ashore in the New World in what is now Provincetown. The Mayflower Compact—one of this country’s first documents to enshrine principles of individual freedom—was signed in Provincetown harbor, where Portuguese fishing boats now rock lazily in bright blue waters. So why the history lesson? P-Town locals and loyal visitors will tell you this legacy of liberty, commitment and common dedication to democratic principles, put down roots in Provincetown and provided a foundation for the town’s unique character, which has flourished ever since. Amid the rampant homogenization of American cities, P-Town,

as some locals call it, has remained a bastion of diversity and true personality. This is surely why Fodor’s Travel, Smithsonian Magazine and others named this haven at the tip of Cape Cod one of America’s 10 Best Small Towns to visit – in any season, and Travel and Leisure just called P-Town one of America’s Most Romantic Destinations. Women have long played an important role in P-Town’s history and development. In 1984, several women who were new innkeepers in town planned a clambake on the beach for a “Women’s Weekend” in October to draw women back to Provincetown during one of its finest seasons, now known as its second summer. Since then, Women’s Week in Provincetown has become an annual fixture, celebrating its 30th anniversary with the 2014 edition this October 13-19. This is truly an event of P-Town proportions! You can dine at one of a host of top-rated restaurants (many run by fantastic women in the kitchen), join the fun-run or a golf tournament, see a show put on by any number of iconic female entertainers who come to perform each year, check out a sunset dune tour and beach bonfire party, walk your dog along the beach and Commercial Street, or swing into an epic dance party that concludes the annual celebration. But don’t wait until fall to experience the warm sands and kaleidoscope sunsets of what countless publications have called a “Best Beach Resort Town.” Spring in P-Town kicks off with Single Women’s Weekend in May, a lesbian event featuring speed meeting, dance parties, nationally acclaimed entertainment, wine tastings and even a little spin-the-bottle, because why not? Also in May, the annual Cape Cod Women’s Music Festival rocks the town. The festival celebrates women in music, with 100% of the proceeds donated to GirlyGirl P.A.R.T.S. “Gives Back,” which provides assistance for non-medical expenses to women with cancer on the Cape. Women of Color and Their Friends is also an early summer event and Memorial Day annually brings younger women to celebrate the end of another school year in a town where open displays of affection are welcomed and commonplace. May marks the 10th anniversary of the first same-sex marriage officiated in Provincetown, a proud moment for both the town, which has been a mainstay in the equal rights movement, and also for the state of Massachusetts, the first to legalize same-sex marriages. “I fell in love with this town, that marvelous convergence of land and water; Mediterranean light,” said Mary Oliver, a Pulitzer Prize- and National Book Award-winning poet who has written much of her work since 1960 in Provincetown. Indeed, women throughout history have found and created poetry and beauty in Provincetown. Find out for yourself with a visit to America’s First Destination in 2014.

“May marks the 10th anniversary of the first same-sex marriage officiated in Provincetown, a proud moment for both the town...and also for the state of Massachusetts, the first to legalize same-sex marriages.”

Other album favorites include the edgy-pop song “Burn With You,” and the title track “Louder” which culminates this eclectic album. The album also includes “If You Say So,” a song Michele wrote about her late boyfriend Cory Monteith. Standout contributors include Christina Perri, Colin Munroe and Stargate. With her deeply personal book, Brunette Ambition, coming out this spring; starring as Dorothy on an animated 3D feature film/musical Legend of Oz: Dorothy’s Return (based on Roger Stanton Baum’s 1989 novel Dorothy of Oz) slated for premiere on May 9th; being a L’Oreal spokeswoman; and starring in Fox’s hit TV show, Lea Michele had a hot New York-minute to chat with She Magazine about her new debut album and upcoming projects. It’s “Louder” than what you’re used to! As you know, Glee has really put the underdogs on the map - with story lines covering everything from bullying, coming out, disabilities, and eating disorders. The show gives everyone hope. Were you aware that the show was going to be like this when you signed on?

I really think that Ryan Murphy [Glee’s creator] is such a genius. Everything he does is always so smart, so I knew that I was definitely involving myself in something that was going to be special. It’s made such a positive change, not only for young kids, but also for arts education. It’s been great to be involved in something that’s so entertaining and yet so very important. You’ve become a shining star for our gay community and we all know how consuming we gays can be. Has it been overwhelming?

(laughs) Oh, no! The love from the gays is never too much! Did anything about Glee scare you? Like, “OMG, I have to kiss a girl!” or “Oh, no, we’re going to get a lot of flack about this storyline”? Not really. I come from New York and I’ve worked on Broadway my whole life. I was involved in a pretty intense Broadway show called Spring Awakenings where I had to bare everything, literally, in that show. I think, thankfully, my theatre background and what I’ve done prior to Glee has been really good preparation not only for anything I do on the show, but just about anything else in my career.

Aside from Modern Family, a lot of shows with gay characters or gay story lines have been cancelled. Why do you think Glee remains a popular favorite with people?

my life and it’s been such an inspirational song for me, personally. I hope it’s exactly that for other people as well. The whole album is very open. It’s honest. It’s who I am as a person, and who I want to be as an artist.

You know, it’s so tricky with television. There are some amazing shows out there that just don’t make it. It can be quite unpredictable. I feel so grateful that we got lucky and that our fans have been so incredible and loyal. They’ve kept us on the air for six seasons now. I’m just so thankful for the fans everywhere who keep watching.

I was fortunate enough to have a sneaky listen to all the tracks on your new album prior to release date. Honestly, I can’t even say which is my favorite because they’re all so good, but I really like the title track, “Louder.” One of the main things I felt was this burst of positivity, motivation and confidence. Was the message intentional?

You’ve had some major celebrities grace the show. Was there anyone that you were completely star-struck by?

You know, everyone has been so cool coming on the show. For me, it’s been so awesome to be able to work with some of my friends! Kristen Chenoweth and I are such close friends, so it’s been so great to have her on the show because I get to have my buddy around all the time. That’s what’s been so incredible, but like so many people: Idina Menzel, Gwenyth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, who’s another really good friend of mine…It’s just been so totally cool to open up a script and go, “Oh my God, Gwenyth Paltrow is going to be on the next episode!”

Yeah, yes! Absolutely! For me, there are lots of different messages within the songs. Even the fun songs - like the title track “Louder” - have an important message. To me, that in itself was important, to pick songs or to write songs that say something. I want people to have fun, roll down their windows and sing along at the

(laughs) Ah, that’s funny! Good! You’re working on an animated 3D movie, Legend of Oz, you’ve been signed with L’Oreal, and you also have your book, Brunette Ambition, coming out soon. It’s like you can do it all. Is there anything left that you want to try? Maybe Olympic bobsledding or something?

Haha! I really want to learn how to make sushi! That’s number one on my list. And I’m thinking that will be the best sushi ever!

(laughs) I’m super excited about Legend of Oz because it’s like the sequel to The Wizard of Oz, and I grew up watching that movie all the time! I mean, I thought I was Dorothy until I was about 18! (laughs) That’s been really cool and I’m so thankful that because of Glee, I can do these other things, too. You know, honestly, everything I do it’s because I’m passionate about it. I don’t do anything just to do

The Glee cast recordings have sold over 10 million singles, with over 20 Top 40 Billboard hits. Did you feel any pressure when you went into the studio to record your own debut album, Louder?

I really do feel thankful for the preparation that Glee has given me in helping me understand what it’s like being in a recording studio and navigating the music waters. Like I said, my background prior to the show had always been theatre, and working on Glee really opened me up to so many things and different styles of music. For me, I felt totally prepared going into this. I felt ready. I knew it was time. It all felt right. I watched the video for “Cannonball” and saw you on Ellen. I kept thinking, “This is the real Lea Michele, not a version of Rachel.” That’s so refreshing because sometimes performers get trapped in their characters - and you haven’t.

I think this whole process, finding myself as an artist and finding the sound for this record, has really been about being open and honest with my fans. I really wanted to make this album be a part of me and allow my fans to be able to see a side of me that they may not have known before. “Cannonball” came into

top of their lungs, or dance around the house in their underwear to my music, but at the same time, I still want it to mean something. When I heard “Louder” for the first time, it was one of those songs where I’m singing it, and I’m having fun but at the same time, it’s important. I think that if I’ve learned anything over this past year, it’s that you have one life and it’s so important to love yourself, give love, live your life to the absolute fullest and be who you want to be. That’s why I love that song, and why I named the whole album Louder. I think your mission has been accomplished with this album because if it wasn’t so cold here, I certainly would have been dancing around in my underwear to it!

it. It’s got to mean something to me or it’s because I’ve got something to say. So, Brunette Ambition is very precious to me. I worked so hard on it and it took a very long time to do. It’s so personal, such a part of me and I’m so happy with it. I love working with L’Oreal, too. They are terrific to be involved with. Right now I have this new energy in me. I really feel like I want to live my life as best as I can. I think we’re all pretty lucky that we get to take that ride with you.

Aww, that’s awesome. Thank you so much.

to Sharon during a photo shoot in Miami Beach for Equality Florida, as she gets ready to host their Miami Gala this month. In 2013, you took a leading role in Equality Florida’s “Get Engaged” campaign and this year, you’re being honored at the Equality Florida Gala on March 16th. That’s exciting stuff!

It is! I’m honored and I’m so fortunate this organization wanted me to be involved. I love being a part of something like this. I want to be involved. The gay community has been an enormous part of my career. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the gay community! (laughs) But, quite honestly, they’re my friends. They are my friends. And let’s be honest, you guys have a lot more fun than I do! (laughs) I love being a part of that! Seriously, though, I just find [Florida’s laws] appalling and very backward. I’d like to think that Florida is smarter and more sophisticated than that. I mean, it’s time to let people love whom they want, with harm to none. I say that to everyone. That’s the important thing-with harm to no one. What I want for the gay community, for every person, really is the right. The right to love and marry whom they want. How much research do you do when so many organizations are reaching out to you all the time? What makes you interested in a particular group?

Sharon Gless

It’s about the work they do and what they’re trying to accomplish, and in Florida, a lot of work needs to be done. Hey, I’m a 5th generation Californian, lived there my whole life, but when they wouldn’t pass same sex marriage, I made a statement saying I was ashamed of my state. It was harsh, but it was true. Now, Florida is an extremely conservative state. I’ve been a resident here for over 20 years, and I’m at that point where I’m starting to feel embarrassed. I’m embarrassed for us. I don’t want to use the word ashamed, I’m not a native here, but I’m a legal resident. I’m embarrassed by the lack of progress. I don’t understand it. It’s Florida. We’re hip. We’re cool. We’ve got DisneyWorld! It’s supposed to be the happiest place on earth! (laughs) But, seriously, how about equality for the gay community?!

is engaged!

When you look at some of your more famous role over the years, some of those characters were unlike anything that had been on TV before. Chris Cagney was a strong, intelligent, fiercely independent, career-minded woman. Debbie Novotny was the supportive, outspoken, golden hearted PLFAG Mom of a gay son. Did those roles feel like risks at the time? Was it ever a concern?

For me, there is no better way to spend an afternoon than having a good, long phone chat about gay rights and equality. Oh, wait, did I mention it was with Sharon Gless, one of our community’s biggest allies? In 2013, Sharon played a role in Equality Florida’s Get Engaged campaign, a statewide public education campaign to build support for marriage equality here in Florida. A vocal advocate for LGBT equality, she served as Grand Marshal in the Miami Beach Pride Parade, received the Gay Icon Award at Philadelphia QFest and the PFLAG Ally award in Toronto, was honored by L.A.’s Gay & Elder Housing and by Norman Lear’s People for the American Way for her unwavering support of human rights. In 2014, Sharon continues to support Equality Florida. We recently spoke

Oh, no! Nooooo, I wanted those roles. Well, the Queer As Folk [Debbie Novotny] role anyway. I passed on the Christine Cagney role twice before my circle of friends convinced me to take it. I just wasn’t smart enough back then, and my friends, thankfully, kept saying “Are you crazy? Take it!” and I was like “Oh, okay.” But, the Debbie Novotny role, I wanted that badly. I went right after that part. I called Showtime and told them I wanted that part. I heard a story that you sent a video of yourself in the red wig, with the PLFAG buttons and the crazy shirts to the executive producer. Is that true?

No, no. Almost, but not entirely true. I did buy 17 wigs for that

SHE - 26 - 03/14

character, though! Every color you could think of! When I showed up with all the wigs, they had lost their nerve and told me I had to pick one. So, I went with the bright red. At first, they told me they wanted me to wear my hair in the Christine Cagney style - and I said, “I’ll look like ‘Chris Cagney Gone Bad!’ Let’s move forward. I want to re-invent,” and that’s basically how we settled on Debbie’s look. I did buy all of those pins and buttons and the naughty tshirts - that was all me. That’s commitment, though! That’s investing in the character. I know this first hand because I’ve seen it myself when we’ve hung out—gay men stop

you in the street and ask for a hug, and tell you they think of you as their own mom! How does that feel?

I’ve always loved that result. It was an absolute perk for me. I love it. I still love it now when gay men come up and ask for a hug. The women never do, but the men still want a hug.

Oh, stop it! I know for a fact, the women still do!

Well, that’s not about the Queer As Folk character, though. It’s more about respect. Respect for the work. But for so many of us, youwere our first girl crush.

Oh, that comes from the Cagney role. Sure it does! And you must hear that a dozen times a day.

Well, that’s what Rosie O’Donnell tells me. (laughs) Because we all wanted you to be a lesbian! But, was there ever a time when it was actually awkward to say, “Hey, look, I’m straight”?

Oh, no. I never felt awkward. I mean, the press all through Cagney & Lacey would hound me about it, you know? They would say “The rumor is that you’re gay” and I would be like, “Well, I’m not gay, but I am festive, so thank you. I’m flattered.” It’s quite a parallel, isn’t it? The press badgers actors to come out, and here you were, having to say, “I’m not a lesbian.”

Yeah, but, Denise, I swear to you, it never bothered me at all. I guess because I didn’t know then that Christine Cagney came across that way. Yes, looking back, I can see that her lifestyle would lead you think that. She was the tough one. She was independent, she couldn’t commit to a man, she was complicated. We wanted it to be okay for women to be those things.

...I just find [Florida’s laws] appalling and very backward. I’d like to think that Florida is smarter and more sophisticated than that... What I want for the gay community, for every person, really is the right. The right to love and marry whom they want. ”

That’s why it was ground-breaking. Cagney made it okay for woman on TV to be shown as career minded, independent, tough and flawed, yet still be taken seriously.

Yes! It changed the history of television for woman and I’m so proud of it. There is a signature feistiness, a ballsiness that comes with everything you do, whether it’s being involved with the gay community’s quest for equal rights or the roles you play. I firmly believe that it’s not something that’s written into a character. It’s something you bring to that role.

Oh my goodness, that’s so kind of you, honey. Thank you so much! That’s really very flattering. You know we’re all so used to seeing you on our TVs. However, now that Burn Notice has ended, I’m in a bit of a panic. Does this mean you won’t be spending as much time in Florida?

I don’t know. I have to go were the work is. I really love to do television. I mean, I’ve done eleven TV shows now. I love going to the same family every morning. The longer you have the luxury of playing a character, the richer and fuller it becomes. Do you have any one favorite out of those eleven?

Oh, it would be so politically incorrect of me to pick one (laughs). I guess the one that had the most impact on my life and my career was Cagney & Lacey because it led me to so many other things. And you know, I’ve never taken a role because I thought, “Oh, this will change

the course of television” or “This will win me an award.” You can’t be like that. You just have to do the job. How do you find the time to be a part of all these organizations and events?

You know, I’ll tell you a story about Rosie O’Donnell. She is a very good friend of mine and had a beautiful home here in Florida. She wanted to be a resident here. Now, you know Rosie has four adopted children, now five, and she is a wonderful mother. Coming from her own background dealing with abuse and whatnot, she’s always donating money to children’s organizations. She took in two foster children, a brother and a sister, two older kids, not babies that can easily be adopted out. They came from poor socio-economical backgrounds and had been abused and damaged. Rosie fell in love with these kids. After a few months, she was seeing such strides in their behavior and their trust. She was giving these children a life and a safety they’ve never known. Rosie said, “I can’t bear to break up this family, and risk having them be split up and put back into foster care, I want to adopt them.” Denise, the state of Florida turned her down because she was a gay woman. Those children had to go back into the system. Imagine the life they could have had! The state of Florida would rather put those kids back into the system instead of having a gay woman raise them and love them and give them a life they would otherwise never know. It’s something like that -- that makes me want to step up and help create change. That’s just one instance, but that’s why I make the time. You know, I’m late to the party. When I was younger, especially during the Cagney & Lacey years, I was too self absorbed to think about things like this. I mean, the running joke back then was “Sharon’s idea of being politically involved is registering to vote!” (laughs) But, over the years, and mainly because of the roles I’ve been in and meeting the people involved and being exposed to their situations and, of course, growing and maturing, it’s changed me. Well, gosh, look at you now!

I know! Right? Look at me now! Once I grab on, I’m like a dog with a bone!

GET READY TO CELEBRATE! The City of Lake Worth Mayor Pam Triolo raised the gay pride flag with Compass’ CEO Tony Plakas at Lake Worth’s City Hall on Tuesday March 4th. Since 2000, the flag has been raised annually in anticipation of PrideFest of Lake Worth and the Palm Beaches. This year’s festival, being held on March 29 & 30 at Bryant Park, will be themed this year with “fanta-SEA”, as Compass celebrates 26 years of community centered services to Palm Beach County and 5 years of private-public partnership with the city of Lake Worth. Sunday’s Parade Grand Marshals—Mayor of the City of Lake Worth, Pam Triolo and Mayor of the city of West Palm Beach, Jeri Muoio—will be riding on the historic Wells Fargo Stagecoach. For the past four years, stage sponsor Wells Fargo, leads the pride parade with their iconic stagecoach marking the only stagecoach appearance on any pride parades in the state of Florida. Sunday’s Grand Parade will begin at 11:30am at South L Street and Lucerne Avenue and continue down Lake Avenue to Bryant Park. “PrideFest is about identity and positive representation of the communities we live in” said Tony Plakas, Compass’ CEO. “It is a great time to showcase what makes Palm Beach County one of the best places in Florida for all people to live.” Scheduled to address the crowd is Palm Beach County Constitutional Tax Collector Anne Gannon, Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptroller Sharon Bock, representatives from City of Lake Worth commission and many other elected and appointed officials. More than 140 local businesses will showcase everything including a wide array of foods, local specialty stores, jewelry, art, and many non-profit organizations. Confirmed entertainment at press time is as follows: The Voice’s Karina Iglesias, Voices of Pride, Teri Catlin, South Florida Marching Band, Palm Beach Makos cheerleaders, Recklezz, The Kinected and Velvet Lenor & K-Otic Force, among others. An Unspoken Compromise by Rizi Xavier Timane, Ph.D. This astounding story of heartbreak and courage follows Rizi Xavier Timane, a Nigerian born transgender minister. He describes his journey as a female-bodied person, knowing there was something that made life different. From selfidentifying as a lesbian in homophobic and dangerous Africa to his own mother accusing him of being a “possessed lesbian” to finding ways to survive religious persecution, and finally his selfidentification as a transman, Timane’s tale is human, beautiful and very important. In a world where we read of “corrective rape” and Africa’s anti-gay laws, An Unspoken Compromise is a must read.

scopes AQUARIUS JAN 21 - FEB 19 Your active imagination is still cranking out great new ideas for increasing your cash flow and your adoring fans are hanging on your every word. However, the planetary constraints are slowing you down and causing you to doubt yourself. Use this time to revise the grand plan. Don’t try to push your agenda forward, but don’t give up your dreams. Instead, enjoy new opportunities that others present to you. Be open to change.

leo July 23 - aug 22 The planets are shooting a laser-beam onto your finances. Take stock of your situation realistically. Create a budget and stick to it. Make it into a game of “how much can I avoid spending, while living well.” Communication with others may not be high on your to-do list, but do it you must, so play nicely with others. Don’t blindly agree to something just to get them to stop talking.

pisces feb 20 - mar 20 Your focus is on yourself and your finances, as you seek to balance your hopes and dreams with realistic goals. The planets won’t make it easy for you, so you must be determined to make positive changes in your relationship to money and how your bank balance affects your own opinion of yourself. Now is the time to reinvent yourself and reintroduce your services. Network in many different venues to increase your sphere of influence.

virgo aug 23 - sept 23 Relationships of all kinds are spotlighted, as you continue to struggle with monetary constraints and emotional reactions. The planets have set up this latest round of challenges to test your resolve and improve those very reactions. Don’t allow the hurry-up-andwait theme of the past several months to dim your vision and enthusiasm for the future. While you’re waiting, objectively analyze the obstacles to success, then identify what can be adjusted and do it.

aries mar 21 - apr 20 You’re not feeling like your usual energizer-bunny self, making it harder to get tasks done, though do them you must. Stressing won’t help. Accepting a slower pace at this time will be much more beneficial. Now is also the right time to re-examine your finances, your financial needs, your future cash-flow projections and prospects. Stay positive. Make necessary adjustments to time-lines, action plans, budgets, attitudes and expectations.

libra sept 24 - oct 23 The planets have been kind to you, with your greatest challenge revolving around your quest to improve your health. Your greatest tool is your ability to keep yourself cheerful and in balance. Create an action plan. Venus, your Ruler, is gifting you with many opportunities to enjoy romantic-comedy-adventures, or just pleasurable social intercourse with friends and family. Your career and income are boosted by networking and advertising your skills and services.

taurus apr 21 - may 21 Since the planets are planning slow-downs and disruptions, you may as well use this as an excuse to go out and play. However, even your playmates are being difficult, so it must be the Universe telling you to expand your network of friends. Remember to let time show you who your new friends really are. Share your goals, but not your strategies to achieve them. Ask for help and you’ll increase your chances of successfully achieving your goals.

scorpio oct 24 - nov 22 Your ruler Saturn is in Retrograde which puts your health and life-style choices under the spotlight. Find a physical or spiritual outlet for your pent-up frustration and anger. You have lots of opportunities to enjoy social activities with friends and family, to share creative projects with children and to explore new places. Relax, do things to restore your energy and do what you can to avoid making hasty decisions that might risk your security.

gemini may 22 - june 21 Career aspirations have you feeling optimistic about your future. However, the planets create frustration around stalled plans and uncertainty about your ability to achieve goals. Use the down time to take your inventory. Review your contribution to the current situation and make necessary adjustments. Accent the positives in your life, enjoy friends and family and seek to add influential people to your sphere of influence. Happily fulfill your responsibilities.

sagittarius nov 23 - dec 21 The planets are empowering you to release old, karmic patterns that are creating negative energy in your present situation. There are many opportunities to expand your horizons, even amidst the daunting planetary line-up, but an opportunity needs to be taken. Revive your enthusiasm for home improvement projects, along with your resolve for self-improvement. Use your creativity, and have fun doing what you want to do, along with what you have to do.

cancer June 22 - july 22 Thinking about the future will give you hope, which will help you deal with the frustrations of your current situation. Change is never easy for you and circumstances may bring up insecurities. Its way past time to bring them out into the light and dispel them. You will achieve your immediate goals by doing small things and getting your immediate goals met. This month should be the last of several months of hard aspects. Yay!

capricorn dec 22 - jan 20 Your usual discipline may elude you, as the planets create scuffles over power and territory. Your ambitions remain the same, but the strategies to realize them must be fine-tuned. Focus on continuing or finishing current projects, even without the cooperation of everyone involved. Caution is required when committing your signature to contracts. Don’t decide in haste. The same caution should apply to relationships. Be aware of another’s expectations of you.
