Tips to Maximize Your Budget: This budget doesn’t necessarily reflect the fee your particular vendors will charge. After meeting with vendors, you must identify what your priorities are and reallocate your budget to fit your wants. Budget maintenance is the least fun part of wedding planning, but it should be given the utmost attention. All couples have a number they want to stay under; it’s up to you (or your planner) to make it happen!

That Eye Sore Is A Money Pit Don’t waste money covering up what you think may be an “eye sore” at your reception. When you try to cover up a spot you think detracts from the space, you’ll only draw eyes toward. Spend money on what you want the guests to focus on, and the spot will disappear.

Splurge on the Guest Experience

Resist the temptation to splurge on your dress or the flowers and skimp on the entertainment, food and/or bar. It is your day, but ultimately you want your guests to have a great time and be talking about your wedding for months. During the planning process, put yourself in their shoes before you take money from one area to fund another.

Blend more expensive elements with cost-effective alternatives Don’t have enough money for that gorgeous overlay or linen? Utilize the overlay on half or a third of the tables and introduce a coordinating runner on the remaining tables. Design your centerpieces that way, too. Your guests’ eyes will immediately see the pops where you splurged, and the alternative tables will coordinate nicely and make the design look intentional.

Think Beyond Your Color Scheme

When you go with a full-blown theme, you can incorporate unusual elements into your décor, allowing you to get more creative in your design. For example, with a garden or nature theme, you can utilize elements found in your backyard. Going for a vintage theme? Utilize your family’s antiques or scope out garage sales and thrift stores to find great pieces.

Winter on the Beach

With a cool color palette of greys, silver and washed out whites, this design is perfect for the winter bride with a Californian, laid-back attitude. Pearls of Wisdom

Words of advice if local brides could do it all over again...

Sarah

Use your groom! He may not care about flower arrangements and centerpieces, but he does have a voice. The number of phone calls and appointments my groom made saved me so much time and stress and allowed me to focus on the “girly” aspects of planning. He was able to convey my thoughts and opinion back to our vendors. He not only helped me, but also gave himself a say-so in the wedding by taking charge. Don’t forget to include your groom! Photos by: Green Tree Media

Ann

Take your pictures before the ceremony. This was our best decision because we got every picture taken we could ever dream of with plenty of time to spare. We then had the rest of our night to celebrate with everyone we love. Also, don’t stress the day of. Chances are if something goes wrong no one will ever know. Once you walk down the aisle it’s just you and your future husband...take it all in. Be there and be present!

Photos by: MNC Photography The details involved in planning a wedding are endless - flowers, music, food, programs. The list goes on and on! It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by it all, but take a few minutes to think about what is most important to you and your groom. Pick the top two to four things and spend your energy and resources there. This helped me stay sane and feel comfortable knowing that the area that made the biggest difference to us would be exactly what and how we wanted them to be. Then we could happily accept offers from friends and family to take care of the less important details, and most importantly, allow us to enjoy the happy day! 16

Blooms Budget on a

Tips from local pros on how to get the most bang for your buck when it comes to Wedding Flowers!.

Lori Barrett Secret Garden Don’t skimp on the greens. Foliage can add texture and fullness to your bouquet. Aspidistra can be curled to create a frame around a smaller bouquet to create a larger fuller look. Seeded Eucalyptus, tree fern, and silver leaf can add texture and form. Think about your flower “footprint”. A hydrangea has a large “footprint”, whereas ranunculus has a small one. Consider using fewer small blooms and more large blooms to get the size of bouquet you desire. Some great lowers with a large footprint are hydrangea, fuji mums, gerbera daisies, and garden roses. Jody Cox An Affair To Remember Don’t skimp on your bouquet; it’s the shining star in your photos and almost always has its own photos. Save on the bridesmaids’ bouquets by choosing a posy a small, delicate bouquet.

Choose a monochromatic color palette for bouquets and arrangements. Whether you choose expensive or lesser expensive blooms or mix the two, it will give you a rich and uxurious look. A bouquet of all the same blooms which will cut down on per stem and design cost like the bouquets pictured below made of just three stems of jumbo hydrangea!

Dawn Gates Zips Flowers by the Gates Don’t be opposed to a certain flower. Not all flowers come in all colors and if you’ve chosen a certain color palette, the color may be more important than the flower itself. For example carnations come in a wide range of colors, are fairly inexpensive, and when mixed with other flowers you will not even notice that it is a carnation! Trust your professional wedding florist. Don’t go into a consultation thinking you may know when flowers are available or how expensive they are. Some flowers are available year round. Flowers may be a little pricey at certain times of the year, but we can possibly offer more affordable substitutes to give you a similar look. Try adding a nice silk bloom for that hard to come by flower is also an option, mixed with fresh flowers no one would ever know it’s silk. Bouquets by Zips Flowers by the Gates

Sandra Taylor Wethington Fresh Flowers & Gifts When I have a consultation with a prospective bride, I want to know “Her Dream Wedding” first. We can always substitute certain flowers to achieve the same look and stay within her budget. There are several retail stores that carry bridal and wedding ingredients, and when it helps the bride’s budget to purchase the items personally, I share my secrets with her and encourage her to do so and I will use them when setting up her wedding. If the wedding is being held in the summer, I tell the Brides and her mother to grow Boston ferns that can be purchased in the early spring for little money. Water and feed them until the wedding to be used for the ceremony and/or the reception in addition to flowers to give a fresh garden look to any wedding.
