I choose to design my logo with English letters in Chinese character forms. The reason is because I know I am a born-Taiwanese; however, I’ve been influenced by western culture as well after living in U.S.A and Germany for some periods.
When I rfelect and duplicate my logo, it’ becomes a scale. It symbolizes my legal professions: justice and balance. I believe my design should look for the balance between the dualities of life such as profits and environmental protection, aesthetic and function.
When I duplicate my logo four times in different directions, the cross appears in the middle, which symbolizes my belief. I believe industrial design is out of love to life, love to people and love to earth. I have the passions for design and I also expect my design will help the people, society and environment become better.
I wish to gradually design more and more products in the future and as each logo represents each product, my creations will gradually turn into a Chinese window design - a design that is boundless and limitless. That is my essence.

biobin for kitchen waste I enjoy cooking meals at home a lot. However, I always find that I end up with so much waste during the food preparation. One day I started wondering if people in Taiwan actually do garbage classification since it is a requirement when recycling, including kitchen waste. If there is a more attractive way to collect and re-use kitchen waste, it might encourage more people to participate in environmental protection and could help decrease the speed of global warming.
Observation
Is there a better solution? I asked my friends and neighbors regarding kitchen waste classification and found out most of the people didn’t regularly recycle kitchen waste. The main reasons are inconvenience and lack of incentives. Furthermore, the ugly recycle bins filled with disgusting kitchen waste was also a major deterrent. I also observe some self-serve restaurants close by my apartment. Those self-serve restaurants request the customers to separate kitchen waste from regular waste as part of the classification pursuant to the laws; however, they place the bin filled with kitchen waste directly on the sidewalk which is pretty disgusting. I wonder whether there is a better or more brilliant solution that will bring about a better mood to customers or stronger incentive to classify and recycle kitchen waste.
Mind Map
I did a mind map as a preliminary concept development for this project and circled three interesting concepts: painting, microscope, and potted plants. Kitchen waste always reminds me of the decomposition process. The world under microscope is always amazing, beautiful and full of surprised. I am wondering if I can magnify the decomposition process, nature itself composes a beautiful and animated painting.
Research Kitchen Waste Any better usage of kitchen waste?
After I did the research, I find that garbage enzyme could be a good solution for my project. What is garbage enzyme? Eco enzyme, developed by Dr. Rosukon, is a complex solution produced by fermentation of fresh kitchen waste (fruit and vegetable odds and ends), sugar (brown sugar) and water. It has a strong sweet sour fermented scent. The production of garbage enzyme generates O3 + NO3 + CO3 . The O3 helps to maintain the earth’s temperature by releasing the heat trapped by the heavy metal in the clouds. O3 reduces global warming and NO3 in the air is useful as nutrients for plants and soils. Dr. Rosukon : if you do 100,000 barrels of garbage enzyme, its effect is equivalent to 1 million trees, this is worth .
Advantages of Garbage Enzyme 1 month

Microscope
A pocket-sized paper microscope is made from a single sheet of folded paper, a pair of lenses, and an LED. Approximate cost: $1. It achieves a magnification of 2,000 times.
Concept Development
I made the first model to see whether my preliminary idea is workable. During the modeling process, I found that some parts of my design are not reasonable. Thus, I discussed with my teacher and revised my design again. After a few more amendments, I accomplished my final design.

Acupoint Massage Ring I always worked overtime in the office and have always wondered whether there is a good tool to help me relieve my strains and tensions. It’s not appropriate to directly use massagers in the office. I can only use my hands to massage my neck and shoulders; however, my hands are always not strong enough to release the tension. I hope to do this project in order to help women who work in front of the computer for long periods of time.
Observation Nowadays people always work in front of their computers for long periods of time, which can easily cause back pain, neck pain, and stiff shoulders. Furthermore, staring at computer screens or cellphone screens for a long time without enough rest can also lead to eye strains. I often noticed from my former coworkers that they tend to use their hands to massage their shoulders or eyes in order to relieve the strain. Hands might be a convenient tool, however, maybe they are not very effective in these situations. I find out that the fingers are not strong enough to relax the acupoint. This is why I initiated this project: I am wondering whether there is a more effective product out there that can help office workers relax their shoulders and necks at their desk discreetly and effectively.
Current Massagers Too big for office? There are numerous massagers on the market. I visited several shops and found all the products have a common issue: they are too big for use in the office. It’s hard to hide it while

Research
Acupoint In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory, an acupoint is a spot for the flow of Qi and blood, reflecting symptoms of diseases, and assisting in syndrome differentiations in the treatment of pathogens. When we suffer from body pain from stress or tension, we always look for acupoint massage therapy. Through pressing the acupressure points as highlighted in the picture on the left, the shoulder pain and eye strain can be effectively relieved. The size of the acupoint depends on its location. However, the size of acupoints on shoulders, neck, and eyes are around the size of the tip of the finger or smaller.
Experiment
Ideation Acupoint Masssge Ring After my observations and research, I think the combination of acupoint massage and the ring could be a good solution for this project. The size of a ring is not too big, therefore, it’s not notice-
able when you press your shoulder or eye acupoints. In addition, the size of the acupoints are small, thus I can use the stone on the ring as the tool for the massage.
I used different tools to press the acupoints on my shoulder, neck and eye areas and tried to see whether I feel comfortable with the size and the shape. I recorded the height and size of the tools as the reference of my design.
Concept Development
Ring for shoulder massage
I drew some sketches and built up the first 3D model. However, after further consideration, I find that some parts of my earlier designs are not suitable such as the “setting of the ring is too high which can bring inconveniences to users’ daily lives. I made several revisions of sketches and 3D models after many back and forth discussions and experiments. I hope to find the balance between aesthetics and function in my design.

Material
Ring for shoulder massage is designed to be filled with essential oil. I hope the image is like the shape of a flower. When users wear the ring, they can smell the fragrance of flower and feel relaxed.
Crystal is regarded as a stone with special healing energy. Together with the essential oil, I think crystal can achieve the healing and relaxing effects.
I commissioned a jewelry designer to manufacture my designs. We discussed a lot about the details of the design and the manufacturing of the jewelry to ensure my design is workable. We specifically spent time discussing the mechanical structure of the ring for the shoulder massage in order to ensure it is possible to fill in a few drops of essential oil and to ensure the crystal stone is able to roll and glide on the skin.

Dressing Mirror For The Blind Getting dressed is a complicated process for visually-impaired and blind people. I wish to assist visually impaired and blind people to easily and independently put on appropriate garments and start a fresh new day with good mood.
Concept
I used to work at Chicago Lighthouse, an organization for visually impaired and blind people, as a volunteer for half a year. At Chicago Lighthouse, I had the opportunity to closely interact with visually impaired people and understand how inconvenient their lives are. I also noticed that they also care about how they look and whether they dress fashionably or appropriately. The design concept of Vinov comes from dressing mirror. Generally, people use mirrors to help them get dressed. I hope Vinov can help the blind to easily and enjoyably get dressed.
Observation Visually impaired or blind people always wear clothes in black or dark colors or in simple patterns. It’s due to the fact they are scared of color matching. One day I read a letter in the newspaper written by a senior high school student, a blind girl, who shared her wish to dress up freely in different colors. This is one of the reasons that motivates me to design this product.

Training Assistant Regular workout is essential for people. However, a lot of people rarely go to the gym or don’t regularly workout after becoming a member of a gym. I wish to understand the reasons behind this phenomenon and find a way to help gym users to enhance their motivation to workout.
Observation
As a regular user of the fitness center, I always encourage my friends to join the gym. However, I found out that many of my friends only went to the gym for the first couple of times after paying for membership. I also observed a phenomenon that a lot of people always showed strong determination for the workout plan in the beginning and failed to stick to their plan after two weeks. I am interested in this subject and wondering whether there is any method to foster gym users’ motivation or help improve this situation.

Design Goal After the completion of the survey, I chose the following items for my design goals. The first goal is to build up the connection between workout and workout results, which enables gym users to understand what they are achieving in every training and increase their motivation. The second goal is to help users easily
record their workout progress, which will assist them to better manage their workout plan. The function of the goal reminder is to help users to set up a goal-oriented workout plan and help encourage uses to stick to the plan. Through recording users’ movements, the device can also further point out wrong postures during workouts.

Currently, most companies’ 3D depth sensors utilize light coding technology, which is developed by PrimeSensor Corporation. Through light coding technology, a real scene is calculated and transformed into 3D scene depth image. After creating 3D scene depth image, skeleton joint positions can be further calculated and identified. Users’ motions will be recognized through these images.

Re’e luminary from darkness
One of my teachers gave us the topic “luminary” for our design project. While thinking of luminary, I hope to design a lamp which uses electrical waste materials, which represents that hope will still shine from the darkness. I want to use this project as the final project to remind myself that this project is not finished, it’s just the beginning. I will continue to learn, explore, and sharpen my skills to design and develop products that will bring hope and beauty to the people in the future.
Mind Map
The original topic of this project is “luminary. When I thought about light, hope and electrical waste came into my mind. I wish to create a lamp which will shine from the darkness and will bring people hope. This is the main topic of this project but it has also become a personal goal of mine to bring life back from waste and to instill into them both beauty and function.
Observation Taiwan is well-known for its electronics technology. A lot of Taiwanese work in a high-tech company. I also worked in HTC before, a mobile phone designing and manufacturing company. These companies create high values for the economy and many jobs for the Taiwanese people.
However, they also create millions of electronic waste, which is polluting the Earth. If these waste materials can be reproduced into a beautiful product, it could give them a second chance at life and remind people to cherish the Earth.
Materials Searching After I decided to use electronic waste as the main materials for my project, I contacted and visited a recycling company that specifically manages electronic waste. There are a lot of differect kinds of electronic waste. After searching, I chose materials such as PCB boards and capacitance for my project.
Sketch & Prototype Procedure I did some sketches and some experiments to check whether my idea is workable. After several experiments, I decided to combine PCB boards with new materi-
als such as expoxy and see whether such combination can display new style. However, I am not familiar with the material, expoxy, in the first beginning and failed to
successfully make the model in the color I want. The photo on the bottom left shows the failed model.
Exhibition
After nearly two months of preparation, we successfully held an exhibition at Songshan Cultural & Creative Park, which is now positioned as the “creative hub of Taipei. This is my first exhibition. The reason I use this project as the final project in my portfolio is because I expect my designs will shine from the darkness in the future. I wish to devote myself to designing products that help people, society, and our planet. I believe a well-conceived product needs time and effort to refine it. Although the exhibition has now ended, this project is not over for me. I hope to continue this project and to be able to design more refined, thoughtful products in the coming future.

Woodwork I am interested in creating products from different materials. Woodwork is one of my many interests. Thus, I went to a school that teaches traditional wood tenoning skills for almost a year. I learned the basic woodwork skills including using chisel, planer, and several kinds of machines. All the furnitures I made are without screws.
