1 MEASURED DRAWING OF A CROISSANT In the first module, photographs of the croissant were
taken
and
translated
into
drawings
showing
dimensions, sections and elevations. Hatching was then added to the sketches and then axonometric drawings were projected using section cut information as guidelines.Through this activity, I’ve learned how to draw axonometric projections and the standard way of presenting architectural information in sections, elevations and plan. I’ve also learned different styles of hatching and shading
which i could apply
to the drawings to create different effects and the importance of line thickness to show section cut lines.
DIMENSIONS SECTIONS ELEVATIONS
In
order to draw an axonometric projection of the
croissant,
an overlay of tracing paper is placed on
top of the three section drawings
already prepared.
Gridlines are drawn across the sections on tracing paper
and
then
sections
are
outlined.
Next,
the
intersections of the section outline with grid is marked. This grid will then be used as a guideline for the measurements of the section when croissant is projected at a 45 degree angle from the section cut positions on the plan. Using these
sections
,the axonometric drawing of the croissant is formed.

2 NEW MARIO WORLD This new Mario world was designed with the intention of portraying a surreal and adventurous scene, dangerous and yet fun and playful through a combination of an exciting water world and a hazardous volcanic lava world that comes with a series of interior and exterior spaces. It consists of a multitude of openings which plays with the mind, and is one that is busy, in order to illustrate a fantasy world that is full of obstacles, mystery entrances, dangerous pathways and a good view. Therefore, i have included various heights and depths of structures, spaces and elements to embody this. This is also why the structures which the mario circulates through, the different material textures on them, the colours and natural landscape surrounding should all carry great detail, to create a world full of crazy adventures.
PROCESS 1.EQUIPMENTS Drawing tools used: T-Square, Set Square, Ruler, 2H pencil, 0.05 and 0.35 fineline pen.
2.SET UP Printed Mario worlds and tracing paper aligned at 45 degrees using the set square. Lines are projected onto the 200 by 200 mm box drawn at the centre of the tracing paper and axonometric projection.
3.OVERLAYING FINELINE Once the drawing is completed an overlay of A3 tracing paper is placed on top of it and the axonometric drawing of the Mario world is traced with 0.05 fineline pen and 0.35 fineline pen for section cut edges.
4.SCAN AND COLOUR Fineline tracing of the axonometric Mario world is completed with a few ammendments made to the design and then scanned into illustrator for colouring and linework.

3 PAPER LANDSCAPE This is my panelised landscape. I want to create an effect of holes opening up and i did it with the four sided star as it is the creates that effect distinctly. My terrain is quite flat, therefore i thought this effect could make my panel landscape more striking as a whole. Another effect i want to achieve is a complex yet simple design with the structure or patternation. There is a sense of minimalism when viewed and the shadows created by the closed up structures adds to it. The effect of holes opening up is noticeable, however, it is not distinct enough and the 2D panels should have been utilised to add to the effect too. Overall, the desired effect is satisfied.
PAPER
MODEL
Model was made out of 300 gsm white card, which was cut out using a sharp blade according to the unroll template and carefully glued together using UHU glue adhesives to produce the final physical model.
PAPER
MODEL
A closer look at the folds beneath the model. Tabs have been carefully and neatly glued together in rows in order to achieve a seamless outcome. A scorer has been used to produce more accurate scorings and in a presentable appearance.
1.STRUCTURAL EXPRIMENTATION Constructed different designs in rhino to achieve simple yet beautiful complexity and feasibility. The 4 sided star is the main element in my designs.
2.ATTRACTORS
PROCESS
Tested with curve attractor towards and away from grid as well as point attractor for 3D panelling from grid in rhino, and the most desirable effect is chosen.
3.2D PANELS Played with different interactions and pattern for the 2D/3D panels. Symmetry is the main element here and a natural or organic view from the corners too.
4.PREPARATION FOR FABRICATION After the panels are unfolded, the template is arranged and exported to illustrator then printed out on A1 paper. It is then overlaid on 300 gsm card and secured with bull nose clips. A blade and metal ruler is used to cut and score the card
5.CUT AND SCORE The paper and card is then scored and cut out according to the template that was printed on A1 paper laid on top of it.
6.FOLD AND GLUE The cut outs are folded and tabs glued together to form the 3D and 2D panels. Tabs on panels are then glued together to form the whole final model.

SCENE
1
In this scene, the characters are in sorrow and pain. The scene is quite empty and seems abandoned. There are bodies or people but the bodies are not complete and the people are feeling empty despite the beauty of the surroundings. These ugly feelings are hidden in the background behind the “joyful and beautiful. This odd contrast also shows the disappointment and confusion Marco Polo had when he first entered and discovered that Hypatia is not what he really thinks it is.
SCENE
2
In this scene, oppression and ignorance is the main theme. It expresses the true emotions and sufferings of the people in the city that has been hidden way by its grand and majestic architecture or landscape. It also emphasises on its dark and horrific atmosphere and the fear Marco Polo felt after he discovered the true reality of this city. People are desperately trying to escape this city but they are trapped inside. The root cause of this chaos is the ignorance of their king and its people.

In the first module, i learned that presentation played a great role in the articulation of our ideas. My presentation was lacking in tidiness and organisation according to my tutor’s feedback which i agreed with and found helpful. Therefore, it was key that information presented was neat, clean, clear and creatively put together. I’ve also learnt how to draw axonometric projections and the standard way of presenting architectural information in sections, elevations and plan. In the second module, i learned the concept of pictorial space and have familiarised myself with Adobe Illustrator, which was one of the highlights in this module. It has pushed boundaries to design and use spaces creatively in the Mario world. Also, this module had further enhanced my axonometric projection drawings. My Mario World turned out well but would have been better if the underworld was further developed as well. The third module has helped me gain my confidence in using rhino and taught me how to construct basic shapes and apply 2D amd 3D panelling. Besides that, i’ve learnt how to make physical models using the unroll template command in rhino which i found extremely helpful.
I liked how the model looked but felt that i should have played more with rhino to produce a more dinstinct and organic effect. Last but not least, the last module further developed my rhino skills in the modelling of the old quad and encouraged an abstract way of thinking, which i felt motivated me to push myself and think outside the box in future projects to come. For this module, i was not very satisfied with the produced outcome and should have put more effort into photoshopping and making the scenes look more aesthetic and clear or simple enough to articulate the story. Overall, all the projects throughout this subject has been extremely beneficial to me as a designer. I have identified areas i need to improve on and enhanced my skillset using softwares and in making models or collages
