2015 MASTER OF CEREMONIES

K

evin Williams is currently in his 36th year at WOBM radio and holds positions on and off the air for Townsquare Media including Director of the Shore Sports Network.

To listeners and the public he is best known for his work on the air. Kevin is a nine-time winner of the New Jersey Sportscaster of the Year Award (National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association) and his popular daily commentary “The Hometown View” has been honored four times by the New Jersey Broadcasters Association for “Best Public Service” and airs weekday mornings on both 92.7 WOBM FM and WOBM AM 1160/1310.

Kevin is in charge of the award-winning team that broadcasts live high school football and basketball games on the Shore Sports Network’s 1160/1310AM in addition to the Investors Bank High School Football Show in the fall. He also helps manage the popular web site www.shoresportsnetwork.com and the bi-monthly Shore Sports Network Journal and broadcasts morning sports reports on New Jersey 101.5. Kevin is also the founder and director of the WOBM Christmas Classic, a 32-team high school basketball tournament at the Pine Belt Arena which he and the radio station have run since 1984.

A member of the Central Regional Athletic Hall of Fame, the Jersey Shore Sports Hall of Fame, Shore Football Coaches Foundation Hall of Fame and the Region 6 Wrestling Hall of Fame, he has also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Central Regional High School, the Ocean County College Distinguished Alumni Award and an honoree degree from OCC. He has been honored by numerous organizations for his charitable efforts and professional accomplishments, including the Ocean County Girl Scouts, Lions Club International and the Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey. Kevin is a past Chairman of the Toms River-Ocean County Chamber of Commerce and is involved in the Toms River Student Loan Fund, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ocean County, Beachwood Soccer Club and Beachwood Municipal Alliance. He was named Citizen of the Year in Beachwood for 2011-12 and next month will be inducted into the New Jersey Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

His wife Jane is a recently retired guidance counselor and they have two children (Brandon and Alexandra) who are both graduates of Penn State University who live in Hoboken and work for public relations firms in New York City.

OCEAN COUNTY ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR ike Walsh

JACKSON MEMORIAL/JACKSON LIBERTY

A 33-year career in the Jackson School District is coming to a close for Mike who for the last three years has served as Athletic Director for both Jackson Memorial and Jackson Liberty High Schools. For his first 25 years in the district he taught science (Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Physics and Environmental science) and was District Supervisor of the Science Department for two years. Prior to his dual role as AD he spent three years at Jackson Liberty, helping the Lions program in its early years.

Mike was a longtime coach at Jackson Memorial, spending 27 years as a highly-regarded assistant football coach, coached the Jaguar baseball team for 22 years (6 as head coach), spent 15 years with wrestling team and even did one year coaching cross country. He served on the Shore Conference Executive Committee this year as the A South Vice President. He and his wife Loretta have two children Ian and Andrew, who are both students at Jackson Memorial.

The Athletic Directors of the Shore Conference wish to thank Mike for his many years of dedicated service and wish him much health and happiness in his retirement.

HOLMDEL HIGH SCHOOL

Randy will end a 33-year career in education when he retires at the end of the school year from his current position as Supervisor of Athletics, Health, Physical Education and Driver Education from Holmdel High School. Before coming to Holmdel in 2007 he spent more than 25 years at JP Stevens High School in Elizabeth as a teacher, Supervisor and Assistant Principal. He was also head coach of the varsity basketball team and before that an assistant and JV coach. Randy’s time at Holmdel saw him very involved in the Shore Conference of High Schools as over the past five years he has served on the Officials Committee, was director of the Field Hockey Tournament, Assistant Director of the Basketball Tournament and the A Central Divisional Vice-President. Randy was an active member of the Shore Conference Executive Committee and a member of the NJSIAA Advisory Committee. Among his many awards and accomplishments was receiving this year’s Jim Sullivan Award from the Shore Basketball Officials, being inducted into the Elizabeth Hall of Fame and being presented with an NJSIAA Service Award. A graduate of Susquehanna University where he was a 4-year scholarship basketball player and team captain later earned his M.A. in Educational Administration in Supervision from Kean University. He and his wife MaryBeth live in Brielle and have two children, Heather (28) and Jason (26). The Athletic Directors of the Shore Conference wish to thank Randy for his many years of service and wish him much health and happiness in his retirement.
