Note !om the Editor... I just reallized as I glanced at our rate sheet that this coming July we will have been publishing The Shopper’s Remedy for 30 Years. WOW, it’s hard to believe that it has been that long, but it has. I still remember Whitey telling me all about this new paper we were going to do in addistion to the Pennsylvania Musician Magazine. He started both papers and we have been learing as we go. He brought home a book from the library about “The Haves and Have Nots” on how to start a business and we were GHÀQLWHO\ WKH ´+DYH 1RWVµ EXW WKDQNV EH WR *RG DQG D ORW of support from area businesses and friends we are still here. We had started the Pennsylvania Musician Magazine in 1982 when Whitey’s friend Mike Staub told him the only
way for him to make enough money to support his family was to start his own publication, Whitey use to work for Mike. So in November of 1982 he wanted to earn extra money for Christmas and started the PA Musician Magazine. It continued to grow and was seeing some success. One day we were driving to Scranton to deliver mags and Whitey came up with the idea of The Shopper’s Remedy at the time Perry County didn’t yet have a Shopper of their own. and we are still here. Back then I use to pray for our perfect jobs in a perfect way because we were on partial welfare and both trying to work at low paying jobs. Over the years I have depended RQ *RG WR KHOS PH 0DQ\ WLPHV , KDYH ZDQWHG WR JLYH XS EXW WKHQ *RG HQFRXUDJHV PH WR SUHVV RQ , VWLOO KDYHQ·W arrived and continue to learn and grow. I want to share Psalm 111 from NKJV with you this month, it is beautiful: PRAISE the LORD! I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation. The works of the Lord are great, Studied by all who have pleasure in them. His work is honorable and glorious, And His righeousness endures forever.
