HOLIDAY BAZAAR: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3rd. Perry Historians annual Hol iday Bazaar and Raffle Drawing, 10-2 at the Lenig/Focht Library (home of The Perry Historians) at 763 Dix Hill Rd., New Bloomfield. A book signing with local authors Debby Noye, Linda Gilmore, and Jerry Clouse will feature all of their new books, with several just released recently. All the Perry Historians published books and calendars, many at spe cial ?one-day-only? pricing, will be on sale just in time for Christmas. Any of these titles would make excellent gifts for the history buff in your life. Perry County flags, license plates, Christmas ornaments and other memorabilia will be offered at discounted prices and Campbell?s brooms (made locally in Andersonburg) will be on sale, and of course Perry Historians home-made, old fashioned apple butter will be available for purchase. We have several tables available in our arts-n-crafts area so that local artists and crafters can showcase their wares. Tables are offered on a first-call, first serve basis, so don?t delay in reserving your space NOW. Each table rental is just $15. EVENT: JANUARY 21ST - GUN SHOW-The Franklin Co. PA Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America will conduct their next annual Cabin Fever Gun Show on Sat urday, January 21st, 2023 at the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association club grounds at 3260 Sportsmans Rd., Green castle, PA. The club grounds are located about 5 miles west of Exit #5, Off I-81. The Cabin Fever show will feature 70+ tables of quality firearms, hunting accessories, ammo, fishing tackles, reloading, etc. This is not a flea market and vendors are not permitted to display items non related to the outdoor activities of hunting, shooting, fishing, trap ping, etc. General admission is only $6.00 adults, children 12 and under are free. Brownies are one of North America’s favorite baked treats. They actually are classified as a bar cookie rather than a cake, and the dessert earned its name from the deep, brown color of its main ingredient.

There have been many variations on the brownie through the years, and the lively debate whether crunchy end pieces or chewy middle slices are preferred continues. There may be less debate about how flavorful it can be to mix cheesecake with brownies, which is just what happens in this recipe for “Marbled Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies” from “Chocolate” (Love Food), by the ed itors of Parragon Books, Ltd.

Marled Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies Makes 12

3⁄4 cup unsalted butter, plus extra for greasing

3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

1 cup superfine sugar

2 eggs, beaten

1 cup all-purpose flour

Cheesecake mix

1 cup ricotta cheese

3 tablespoons superfine sugar

1 egg beaten

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease an 11 x 7-inch cake pan and line with parchment paper.

Melt the butter in a medium saucepan, remove from the heat, and stir in the unsweetened cocoa and the sugar. Beat in the eggs, then add the flour, and stir to mix evenly. Pour into the prepared pan. For the cheesecake mix, beat together the ricotta, sugar and egg, then drop teaspoonfuls of the mixture over the chocolate mixture. Use a metal spatula to swirl the two mixtures tightly together. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until just firm to the touch. Cool in the pan, then cut into bars or squares.
