As I was looking for articles to fill the extra space in this month’s issue it dawned on me, the best use of the space would be to share scripture with you. I know that “religion” turns a lot of people off and per chance you already threw this paper away; but I believe that Jesus Christ is our only hope and reading the words that God has given us to deal with the trials and tribulations we all deal with as we journey through life on this earth is of great value. The Word of God (Holy Bible) encourages me everyday and helps me cope with life without using pills or doctors etc. God just wants to love us and care for us and wants the best for us and to find out what that is you have to read the directions. I asked God once why he just doesn’t write it in the clouds what I’m suppose to do and his answer was, “It’s all been written, it’s all wrote down, you just have to read it.” So I’ve been reading it everyday since and his purpose and plan for my life is coming clearer and clearer as I read.

The following is from the Tyndale New Living Translation a letter from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1: 13-25;

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do. just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.

And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time here as “temporary residents.” For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.

Through Christ you have come to trust in God.

And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.

You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

For you have been born again, but not to a life

that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. As the Scriptures say,

“People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades, But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.

PERRY COUNTY PLACEMAKING TEAM SEEKING ARTISTS & DESIGNERS

Newport, PA—The Perry County Economic Development Authority (PCEDA) and Perry County Council of the Arts (PCCA) are seeking artists and designers to assist with downtown placemaking efforts in each of the county’s nine boroughs.

Through recent Main Street planning meetings, the PCEDA and invested members of the community have been working to identify project locations within each borough that will serve as the environment for public art installations. Each project will highlight key assets and local history/culture while encouraging community use.

Artists and designers are encouraged to submit their interest along with samples of their work by January 6, 2023, using the online form at www. perrycountyarts.org/community-events/public-art/. Varying art forms will be considered including and not limited to painting, sculpture, lighting, illustration, pottery, performance, and writing.

“We will strive to match qualified applicants with the project(s) that best suits their medium, skills and budget. Their creative vision and engagement will be valuable to the resulting impact of each project,” says PCCA’s Executive Director Jasmine Colbert.

PCCA was approved for a $50,000 Our Town award from the National Endowment for the Arts to support a countywide creative placemaking initiative. This is one of 51 grants nationwide that the agency has approved in this category to support projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes.

PCEDA Board President Martha Roberts says, “This community-led program will be conducted in all nine of Perry’s Boroughs as one component of a countywide Downtown Revitalization project.” PCEDA received a grant from the Pennsylvania Keystone Communities Program to fund half of the project.
