PCCA Artists to Display Works at Ned Smith Center Perry County Council of the Arts (PCCA) announces a Call for Art for its Art on Tour exhibition, “Nature’s Palette,” featuring works by PCCA member artists, which will be on display in the Olewine Gallery at Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art, 176 Water Company Rd., Millersburg, from January 17 to May 10, 2020.

This special art exhibition will include 2D and 3D artwork of all media that represents various hues and shades of the following colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black, white. Each piece of artwork should have one dominant color, as listed above, but it may have other accent colors included.

PCCA invites local artists to become members of the arts council to participate in this special off-site exhibition. Membership is $30 for the year and allows artists to also display and sell their artwork at PCCA Gallery, 1 S. Second St., Newport.

Fall for Hummingbirds Contest Attract Migrating Hummingbirds To Your Feeders For A Chance At Prizes.

Hummingbirds are being found with increasing frequency in the fall & winter seasons in Pennsylvania. About 99% of the hummingbirds that are found east of the Mississippi are Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, but sometimes during fall and winter other species of hummingbirds pass through Pennsylvania as the travel from breeding grounds in Alaska to wintering spots along the Gulf Coast. Ornithologists are very interested in learning more about these wayward little birds. Your participation can help contribute to the growing body of information about migrating hummingbirds. If you are able to get a confirmed hummingbird to visit your feeders, you can win a prize. In addition, researchers with federal banding permits would like to band the late season hummingbirds, if the homeowners are willing.

NOTE: Maintain a clean feeder whenever you leave it out for birds. It is recommended that you clean the feeder at least weekly, more often if the sugar mixture gets cloudy. The mixture for the feeders should always be 4 parts water to 1 part sugar. No additives or dyes are ever needed. If temperatures drop below freezing, bring the feeders in overnight. It is a myth that keeping feeders up will prevent them from migrating in the fall. They will come and go as they please. We are only helping them fuel up in their journey.

As 2019 ends and we begin 2020 I thought it would be a good idea to let you all know what is going on at The Shopper’s Remedy headquarters as there have been some changes in the last year. I use to do two publications with the help of a few people but in June of 2018 we decided not to do the PA Musician Magazine amymore but then our son, Joshua Noll decided he wanted to try his hand at publishing the PA Musician so we gave him the rights to publish it on his own and I decided I would keep the Shopper’s Remedy going as Social Security just isn’t enough to live on.

To cut cost in doing The Shopper’s Remedy I decided to do it on my own so thus why it’s getting to the stores a little later as I had to let Debby go (she did a great job for me for years in helping me).

I help Josh with typesetting and we get the papers printed on the same day and he goes up and picks up both the PA Musician & The Shopper’s Remedy as it saves money and time. So I’m kind of doing both but don’t have the financial responsibility of keeping the PA Musician going, if that makes sense. In the publishing business you have to save money where you can and it is working out for both of us to keep the papers going.

I do only one shopper, The Shopper’s Remedy. We are not associated with the other shopper’s that are in the area. We come out monthly and I will continue to

telling their kids stories from their personal history with Jesus. This would make dinner time a delight and something to look forward to.

Picture this... those that have walked with Jesus for awhile mentoring new believers over coffee or tea throughout the week in all our local coffee shops. This would create more light in our community.

Picture this... fathers and mothers taking their sons and daughters for a drive while worshiping Jesus and praying together and then grabbing an ice cream cone. This is called parental discipleship.

Picture this... seniors discipling freshmen in the ways of God. Picture this... kids leading their friends to Jesus in the hallway of their school.

Picture this... kids praying on the school bus and miracles start breaking out.

If each generation is going to set it’s hope anew on God then we have to take this serious. It’s important to talk about Jesus and the things He’s done in our lives. It’s important to tell Bible stories to our kids. If they only here about Jesus one day a week from a Pastor or Sunday school teacher, their hope will fade away.

Here me clear...There is no such thing as Sunday only Christianity!!!

It’s time that we all hand down our stories in our homes.

It’s time we all talk about the God who parts seas, and shuts the mouth of lions. For hope to be grabbed ahold of, it must first be handed down. strive to make it more community minded in the future and look for articles of interest. If you have a community event happening in your area please send us the information and we will be glad to print it.
