EDITOR’S NOTE... It was a cold snowy day back in the winter of 1986 that my husband Whitey and I were driving to deliver our original paper, the Pennsylvania Musician Magazine, when he started talking about doing a local shopper. At the time there was The Shopper based in Middleburg but it didn’t really reach down into Perry County. He rapped it all out in the space of an hour or so. We would call it The Shopper’s Remedy and it would have 7 Remedy columns: Farming, Local events, History, Recipies, Free classifeds and other articles of interest. the front. At the time all 4 kids were home and I was struggling just getting the PA Musician done every month. Back then we didn’t have the benefits of computer technology and putting a paper together was time intensive. But he couldn’t let go of the idea so in July of 1986 we came out with the first issue of The Shopper’s Remedy. My sweet man is very creative but he tires quickly of his creations and moves on. Meanwhile it’s my job to continue to develop his ideas and enjoy the fruits of his vision. I haven’t quite pulled off his entire vision yet. I’m still lacking the articles of interest and the front cover has turned into a great spot to draw attention to our great advertisers and supporters but I’m working towards his original vision and I can see the benefits of that type of paper. As I was working early this morning finishing up the July 2014 issue, 28 years later, I can’t help but filled bless that Perry and Juniata County folks have allowed us to bring this paper to you monthly. I work from my home and do as much or as little as I choose. There is always something different going on and I can honestly say I am never bored in this life. So THANK YOU for reading and using The Shopper’s Remedy. I am very thankful as well for the support of our advertisers who have been with us for 28 years including RE Davidson & Son, Latchford Saws, Mabco1, and Mastrachio’s. I am very thankful to all the businesses in Perry and Juniata County and beyond who continue to support our paper with their ad dollars every month. We wouldn’t be without their continued support as it takes money to produce a paper.
