If you enjoy spooky things that go bump in the night, then sign up for the FETTER HOUSE PUBLIC PARANORMAL INVESTIGATION, OCTOBER 28, Saturday evening from 8 pm. – 1 am. Participants over the years have experienced ghostly visions, voices, and various noises throughout the night. Fetter House, 102 South Carlisle Street, Landisburg, is owned and maintained by the Historical Society of Perry County. Participants need to bring flashlights, and cameras to the ghost hunt. The $25 per person fee helps to sustain the non-profit HSPC properties, and host other events.

The only gobbling on October 29th will be folks enjoying THE PERRY HISTORIANS TURKEY DINNER. The annual event by the Perry County non-profit historical organization is held at the Landisburg Fire House. The family style meal of all the traditional fixings ( scrumptious filling ) will be served from 11 am- 2 pm. and 4 pm. – 7 pm., or till sold out. Take outs are welcomed! A popular tasty feature involves “ husking “ local sweet corn. Volunteers husk, silk, cut & prepare the corn for their fundraising events. Wanda & Tony Campbell, PH members of Andersonburg, lend their talents to freshly preparing, old fashioned Pepper Slaw. Sweets of cakes, pies, and brownies, are donated by many to top off the turkey meal. Aside from a full belly, diners are helping to sustain The Perry Historians with a $10 donation for their meal. Children under age of 12 can enjoy all the fixings for half price. The Perry Historians, home of Harry Lenig Library, at Airy View, 763 Dix Hill Road, New Bloomfield, are proud to be the designated keepers of all the past Perry County records. Open Wednesdays 9 am. – 9 pm., and special Saturdays, the

staff of volunteers assist and guide folks in their genealogical searches. They also house a vast collection of old periodicals, that provide additional research and reading enjoyment. Volunteers are always welcome to help with any of the Perry Historians endeavors!

ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL & CRAFT BAZAAR will be held on Saturday, November, 11th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1000 N. Front St. , Liverpool. We will have our famous open pit BBQ chicken, open kettle chicken corn and ham/bean soups and our slow cooked pulled pork. We will have a luncheon menu and a table full of delicious homemade baked goods to have as dessert or to take home for later.

We have inside dining area as well as outside picnic tables for you to relax and enjoy Perry County at its finest (overlooking the Susquehanna River). The youth of our church will be helping that day and will carry your trays for you. They church members have been busy making holiday crafts and seasonal items for sale. Another favorite area is the “Cookie Shoppe”. Members have half dozen or dozen homemade cookies plates and ready for you to take home. We will be having a Chinese Auction this year. There are fabulous items up for sale. Look on our website www .feedmysheep.cc to see pictures of donated items. You will not want to miss your chance to bid. We are expecting 40 vendors and crafters this year.

Scotty Brown, Duncannon artist, designed the original flag produced in 1995, by the now defunct Perry County Tourist & Recreation Bureau. Sporting a white tail deer, brook trout, pheasant, and hemlocks, the 2’x3’ green nylon flag, screened full color on one side, is available with grommets, or a sleeve. Fall for Hummingbirds Contest Attract Migrating Hummingbirds To Your Feeders For A Chance At Prizes.

Hummingbirds are being found with increasing frequency in the fall & winter seasons in Pennsylvania. About 99% of the hummingbirds that are found east of the Mississippi are Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, but sometimes during fall and winter other species of hummingbirds pass through Pennsylvania as the travel from breeding grounds in Alaska to wintering spots along the Gulf Coast. Ornithologists are very interested in learning more about these wayward little birds. Your participation can help contribute to the growing body of information about migrating hummingbirds. If you are able to get a confirmed hummingbird to visit your feeders, you can win a prize. In addition, researchers with federal banding permits would like to band the late season hummingbirds, if the homeowners are willing.

NOTE: Maintain a clean feeder whenever you leave it out for birds. It is recommended that you clean the feeder at least weekly, more often if the sugar mixture gets cloudy. The mixture for the feeders should always be 4 parts water to 1 part sugar. No additives or dyes are ever needed. If temperatures drop below freezing, bring the feeders in overnight. It is a myth that keeping feeders up will prevent them from migrating in the fall. They will come and go as they please. We are only helping them fuel up in their journey.

PRIZES: Any hummingbird species that can be confirmed will be entered into a $100 Drawing. Any species other than Ruby-throated Hummingbird will automatically WIN $25.
