CENTRALIA ORPHANS The Orphans of Coach Lee Bennett are out to repeat their success of the last several years in the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament. The Orphans are currently 6-2 and face the St. Louis Confluence Academy Titans, also with a winning record of 4-3. The Orphans this season are a young and inexperienced team with one senior starter in leading scorer Dawson Berry, who at 6'4" is also the Orphans' tallest player and is averaging 17.5 points per game. The remaining starters are juniors 6'1" Johnathan Keeler; 6'2" Javon Williams, Jr.; and 5'11" Jordan Maines along with 5'7" Jamie Long, a freshman point guard. The rest of the roster is rounded off with other young players in sophomores 5'7" Bryan Meskil, and
GOOD LUCK
5'6" Akeel Johnson along with juniors 5'6" Matt Patrick and 5'10" Sirlando Calcutt and senior 5"11" Jachai Webster. As it's easy to see, Coach Bennett's Orphans are on the small side but they still play that great defense for a full four quarters. Coach Bennett's Orphans are up for the challenge of competing for the right to take home the 74th CHT trophy and get Coach Bennett another CHT title. The Orphans have already won second place in their own Thanksgiving Tourney going 3-1 with a tough loss to a very talented Belleville East squad. Team profile by Mike Ellis

ADDISON TRAIL BLAZERS The Trail Blazers are heading south to play in the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament for the third straight year in a row and have a nice record at 5-2 coming into the tourney against a very good Alton team on day one at 2:00 p.m. Alton is also 5-2, and that makes a great opening round game. The Blazers are coached by Brandon Bryon, and his squad plays in the West Suburban Gold 4A Conference.
They have some size with 6'6" Colton Noel, 6'4"Michael Pudlo, 6'5" Michael Williams, and a pair of 6'3" players in Vito Ciaccia and Stevan Jones. These guys will play hard and tough on the
Kalb, Andrew Parnell, Bobby Daniels, Raejon Whitehead, Brent Suarez, Adem Mehmeti, Eric Lynch, and Albert White. The Trail Blazers' tough style of play will make them a tough team to handle in this year's Centralia Holiday Tournament, and I look for them to become one of those northern teams that CHT fans love to root for! ALTON REDBIRDS Coach Eric Smith will bring his Redbirds to their 24th appearance in the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament looking to continue a successful season so far with a 4 – 3 record. The Redbirds are Coach Smith's usual run and press type team and will run at you for four quarters. The Redbirds will attack with a very good group of seniors including a trio of 6'3" players Dereaun Clay, Damion Reed and Morris Adams. Along with 6'7" Evan Meyer, 6'1" Tyler
Springman, 6'2" Maurice Edwards, and 5'6" Ty'ohn Trimble this group of seniors will be aided by this juniors 6'1" Darrell Smith, Kevin Caldwell, Rashad Williams and sophomore 6'1" Donovan Clay and 6'2" Terrance Walker. Coach Smith's Redbirds will open up
the Centralia Holiday Tournament at 2:00 p.m. against Addison Trial (5-3) for the middle game of the afternoon session. Coach Smith will try to beat the Chicago squad all over the court to advance in the winner's bracket of the 74th Centralia Holiday
Tournament and that's where they'll want to be when the second day starts. The Redbirds wish to add to their 50 wins at the Centralia Holiday Tournament and add some hardware to their trophy case. The Redbirds play in the always-tough Southwest Conference where every game is against a solid program and it's tough to survive an entire season but Coach Smith looks forward to the competition. ARLINGTON TIGERS Coach Don Deaton has his Tigers heading north again to play in the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament. After a great run last year the Tigers would love to do it again but they are not off to the same fast start as last year at 5-4. However, Coach Deaton likes his Tigers playing in front of Centralia's big crowds so he'll have them ready. The Tigers will open day one with a tough
draw in Thornton Fractional North who sits at 6-1. They'll play at 3:30 p.m. on day one in the first game of the bottom bracket. Coach Deaton has some size again in 6'7" Garrett Golday, 6'4" Brogan Brewer, 6'3"
Micah Sims, 6'3" Tyler Gentry, and 6'3" Ray Price which will let the Tigers stay on the boards. The rest of Coach Deaton's players consist of 5'11" Boston Miller, 5'10" Carrington Maclin, 5' 11" Sam
Wiseman, and 6 '2" Luke Wiseman This group will let the Tigers press all over the court while the bigs control the glass on both ends. The Arlington Tigers, along with Coach Deaton have become a fan favorite with the CHT. They have had a great first two years at the CHT and are looking to make it three in a row. BELLEVILLE WEST MIGHTY MAROONS The Belleville West Maroons, coached by Joe Muniz, will open the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament at 6:15 p.m. on day one against the Salem Wildcats. The Maroons are out to impress everyone in this year's tournament with their size and skill. They have plenty of size in 6'7" E.J. Liddell, 6'7" Tyler Dancy (276 pounds), 6'5" Keith Randolph, 6'5" Dalton Fox, and 6'5" Hunter Grupe, which allows the Maroons to control the boards and play their tough, all-overthe-court defense.
C T
The hard pressure style will come from 5'9" Cameron Clark, 6'1" Justin Edwards, 5'11" DeAndre Jackson, and 5'9" Will Lanxon, along with swing players 6'2" Will Matthews, 6'1" Jaylin Mosby, 5'11" Ian Parker, 6'0" Elijah Powell, and
5'11" Jordan Parks. This gives Coach Muniz the ability to use his entire roster to wear down the other team and let the bigs take over. So far the Maroons are off to a 4-3 start and look to use the CHT to take off and compete in the always-tough
Southwest Conference. Coach Muniz is entering his thirteenth season as the head coach for the Belleville West Mighty Maroons and will look to add to their impressive total of over 100 wins in the Centralia Holiday Tournament. The Maroons are the third winningest team in the CHT behind Centralia and Champaign, and like those two teams will also look to take home some of that tournament hardware. Team profile by Mike Ellis

CAHOKIA COMANCHES The Cahokia Comanches are back at the 74th edition of the Centralia Holiday Tournament and again will be coached by Darren Nash who always has his Comanches ready for the CHT. Coach Nash has his squad off to a good start at 4-3 and they always seem to take off at the CHT every year. The Comanches will open day one against the O'Fallon Panthers who are their close neighbor to the north. Coach Nash's squad is
being led so far this year by 6'6" Thomas Bell who is leading the Comanches in scoring and rebounding. The Comanches also have 6'6" Richard Robinson, 6'5"Malik Johnson, 6'4" Devin Manuel along
with a trio of 6'3" players Elijah Rice, Deavis Johnson, and Derrick Aaron which once again gives Coach Nash a big, long, strong team and with these race horses: 6'0" Jakorey Davis, Damond
Harrison, 5'10" Deonta Rodgers, 5'9" Ronald Kimbrow, and 5'10" Wayne Gant lets the Comanches use full court pressure the entire game. They are fast and so long that sometimes you might think there are more than five Comanches on the court at one time. If the Cahokia Comanches get by O'Fallon in that first round game, watch out, they will be a load to handle. Team profile by Mike Ellis

CHAMPAIGN CENTRAL MAROONS Coach Jeff Finke is heading to the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament coming off an impressive victory over Chaminade of St. Louis which lets everyone in the Centralia Holiday Tournament know that they are in it to win it. The Maroons are lead by Coach Finke's son 6'6" Tim who can light it up when he's on. The Maroons have good overall size in a pair of 6'4" forwards Douglas Wallen and Matthew Sharick,
a duo of 6'3" players Sam Rossow, and A'Kieon Gill, and 6'4" Jake Beesley. These six big players let the Maroons pound the boards and let the guards do the pressure defense on the perimeter and that's what these guys will do: 5'10"Bailey Dee, 5'11" Qwentin Peacock, 6'0"
Demonte Billings, 6'2" Jaden Aikens and 5'9" Jordan Testory. Along with 6'0" Walker Stillman and 6'2" Jonte Coleman, Coach Finke has his Maroons ready to conquer the Big Twelve this season and the CHT will get his Maroons started in the right direction and on
their way towards the state playoffs. The Maroons are one of the fan favorites and are playing in their 71st Centralia Holiday Tournament. They will open day one at 12:30 against the Mt. Vernon Rams and hope to move on to the next round. The Maroons will try to add to their impressive total of over one hundred CHT victories and one more CHT trophy to take home. CONFLUENCE PREP ACADEMY (STL) TITANS The Titans out of St. Louis are coming to the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament for the very first time and look to show the CHT fans what this private school can do on the court. It won't take long as they are opening day one against the host Centralia Orphans at 7:45 pm. The Titans have a 5-3 record so far and have a team led by 6'6" Leon Perry who is averaging around 26 points per game and also 8 rebounds which could be a load for the Orphans to stop. The Titans head coach is Brian Karvinen who has stepped up their schedule this season and his
squad is looking forward to playing in the Centralia Holiday Tournament. The rest of the Titans' roster is a nice size group in 6'5" Nhatavis Wilson,
6'4"James Kern, and a trio of 6'3" players like William Howard, Marlow Ferguson, and Antonio Ashley which gives coach Karvinen a real match up problem for Centralia. Along with players like 6'2" Ryan Pitts 6'1"Dvaunta Lane, and a pair of 6'0" guards in Carlos Brickhouse and Kenny Gregory they will have to jump on Centralia early and often before the Orphans get rolling. Most St. Louis teams have done well in the Centralia Holiday Tournament. So good luck, Titans! Team profile by Mike Ellis

The Red Devils are looking to play in the championship game this time around. Lesure. These bigs will pound the boards and get the rock out on the break for the Devils. To keep up the pressure the Devils will have their
road runners on the go; they are 6'1" Cameron Baker, 5'10" Brandon Malone, 5'10" C.J. Norfleet, 6'0" Fred Malone, 6'2" Justin
Wright and 6'1" Mason Gross. With this roster of size and speed, the Red Devils will be primed for their first day game against Hyde Park of Chicago which will be a real test. That first game will be the night cap of day one at 9:15 p.m. The Red Devils play in the tough 3A Class in Tennessee District 15 which pairs them with some of the best programs in the state. HYDE PARK ACADEMY THUNDERBIRDS The Thunderbirds of Hyde Park Academy are heading south once again to play in the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament for the first time since they won the Tourney in 2008, beating the host Orphans in the championship game 52-48. The Thunderbirds are coached by Javon Mamon who is in his first year as the head coach. Coach Mamon has the Thunderbirds off to a good start at 4-2. Coach Mamon has the biggest team in the
tourney with 6'8" Anthony Cameron, 6'7" Shomari Tillett, 6'6" Kevin Barnhill and 6'6" Earnest Donel. Add in 6'4" Trevon Tucker and you can see that the Thunderbirds can control the game by

5'10" Christian Graham and a pair of 5'9" guards in Andrew Anderson and Maurice Mitchell. This allows the Thunderbirds to stay fresh on the court and keep the pressure on. The Thunderbirds will play Germantown at 9:45 on day one to end the first round. MARIST REDHAWKS Well, he's back for his 17th season as head coach of the Marist Red Hawks, and he has 21 years total including his four years as a Red Hawk player. So Coach Gene Nolan knows everything it takes to win at the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament. The Red Hawks are heading south with an unbeaten record at 7-0, and as always, they are a very good team. Coach Nolan has more size than the last few years with a trio of 6'4" players in Conor Coyne, Semaj Malone, and David Daniels. There is also 6'7" Bobby Hawkinson and
6'8" Justin Brown, which will allow Coach Nolan's players to control the boards. The Red Hawks have several players who also can handle the rock, including three year starter 5'11" Maurice Commander, 5'11" Tristan Ach, 6'1' Malik Onyeali and 6'0" Chase Robinson. Along
with these he has a pair of 6'2" swing players in Jimmy Porter and Morgan Taylor, which will allow Coach Nolan to use his full arsenal against his foes. The Red Hawks have been a crowd favorite for a couple of decades and the fans love watching their Princeton style of play. The Red Hawks play in the East Suburban Catholic Conference which is very tough, and the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament will have them ready for their northern league foes. Team profile by Mike Ellis
MT. VERNON RAMS The Mt. Vernon Rams are back in the Centralia Holiday Tournament for the second year in a row and Coach Doug Creel has his Rams moving into their brand new gym this season. Coach Creel has a very young team with very little experience, with only Quinton Kujawa having any varsity playing time last season. The Rams have some size in the 6'4' Kujawa and 6'6 Weston Brockhouse, but after that Coach Creel
doesn't have a lot left except a couple of young Rams in 6'2" Jake Martin, 6'2" Simon Wilson, 6'1" Lukas Cooper, and 6'1" Teion Jennings. That's about all the size the Rams have. Coach Creel is trying to make his Rams grow
faster than they're probably ready for, as they are out to a 2-8 start going into the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament. The Rams have a tough draw in their tourney opener against Champaign at 12:30 on day one. Coach Creel will rely
on the following players to help out: 5'8" Nate Campbell, 5'8" Zach Williams, 5'6" Jackson Creel, 6'1" Andrew Ashby, and 6'0" O'Shea Hardin; that will allow Coach Creel to keep fresh legs on the court and hopefully out of foul trouble. The Rams are now playing in their 40th CHT and will have to use the tourney to try and right the ship for the second half and get ready for the 3A Playoffs. Team profile by Mike Ellis

O'FALLON PANTHERS Well, a longtime Centralia Holiday Tournament foe has changed coaches, and the new head coach is Brian Muniz, who has his Panthers off to a good start at 5-2. They are opening the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament on day one at 10:00 a.m. against the Cahokia Comanches who are 4-4 so far this season. Coach Muniz knows the Comanches are a very worthy team from the South Seven. The Panthers aren't very big compared to
other teams in the southwest, but they are capable of getting the job done. Coach Muniz will rely on 6'4" Jarvus Smith, 6'3" Steven Sharp, and a trio of 6'2" players in Robert Hayes, Ronnie Anthony and Burke Watts. This group will have to pound the boards on both ends for
Coach Muniz while another group will handle the rock; they are 6'1" Jalen Hodge, 5'9" Ryan Fulton, 5'8" Tabari Dunlap, and a group of 5'10" players in Deion Norfleet, Alex Orr and Daron Thomas. Coach Muniz has used this squad to its best ability so far in getting
their five wins. The Panthers will try to add a few more victories in the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament to add to the 40 plus wins they already have, and add something to their trophy case as well with their new coach, Muniz. The Panthers will be seeking their third CHT title and then use that to jump back into the Southwest Conference and the 4A Playoffs. Team profile by Mike Ellis

SALEM WILDCATS The Salem Wildcats will finish their last season in the Apollo Conference before moving on to the Cahokia Conference next year and Coach Fehrenbacher would like to win it this season. But so far the Cats are off to a slow start at 4-5, and they will look to the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament to get their ship going in the right direction. Coach Fehrenbacher has both good size and experience on his roster this season with 6'4" Cole Steward, 6'3" Brandon Boles, 6'3" Caden Wayer, 6'5" Cord
Brown, 6'3" Cain Milner and 6'4" Connor Brooks. These guys will help the Cats control the boards on both ends of the court. Coach Fehrenbacher's other Cats are 6'1" Max Phillips, 5'10" Dawson
Linder, 5'11' Remington Carpenter, 6'2" Shaun Reid, 6'1" Brett Whitney and 6'0" Clive Watkins, and these guys will give the Cats the ball handlers and defensive players they will need to pressure the ball full
court and allow the Cats to push the ball when they can. The Cats are being lead by four year varsity players Brandon Boles and Cole Steward along with three year players Kaden Wayer and Dawson Linder. The Cats will open the 74th CHT against Belleville West at 6:15 p.m. on day one of the tournament. The Cats will be playing in their tenth CHT in a row and their 57th overall and hope to take some hardware back to Salem this year. Team profile by Mike Ellis
THORNTON FRACTIONAL NORTH METEORS The Meteors from Thornton Fractional North are coming south to play in the 74th Centralia Holiday Tournament for the first time and are looking forward to playing in the Centralia High School Gym. Coach Tim Bankston had his squad at the Salem Tournament last season and now has moved up to the larger Centralia 16 team tournament this season. The Meteors are off and running this season with a 6-1 record and have drawn Arlington in round one at 3:30 p.m. in the first game of
the bottom bracket. Coach Bankston has a very large squad with 6'5" Davon Denson; 6'5" Terrell Porter; 6'5" Jalen Martin; 6'4" Jalen Tribble; 6'4" Bruce Davis; and 6'3" Dariun Walker to round out
this huge squad that will pound everyone on the boards on both ends of the court. Plus you add in 5'8" Kelton Auston; 5'10" Ezekiel Borland; 5'11" Joel Deere; 6'1" Nate Jones, Jr., 5'9" Rayshaun Watson; 6'0"
Mike Oray, Jr.; and 6'1" Jaducus Dixon, and you can see the Meteors are a handful. They like to press full court the entire game and use their size and length to just wear everyone in front of them down. They will surprise the local fans with their aggressive play. The only thing that will surprise the Meteors will be how tough the CHT is for new teams that come south, and every game is tough to handle. Good luck, Meteors. Team profile by Mike Ellis

CHEESY POTATO SKINS Servings: 6 people
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients 8 oz. Prairie Farms Sour Cream Vegetable Oil For Frying 1 cup Bacon Bits
Cook Time: 30 minutes
6 Potatoes 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese ¼ cup Scallions Minced
Instructions • Preheat oven to 375°F • Microwave or bake potatoes just until soft. Allow to cool slightly, then slice potatoes in half lengthwise and scoop out the soft inside, leaving the skins about 1/3” thick. • Deep fry the potato skins until lightly crisp, about 5 minutes. Allow to drain on paper towels.
