A Rose By Any Other Game If ever there was a more relevant irrelevant athlete in the history of sports, it is Pete Rose. Everyone remembers that kid in class when we were growing up who just couldn’t seem to control himself or stay out of trouble but was the first guy you’d pick for your kickball team. Wherever Pete Rose went to school, he was that guy. Pete Rose manages to stay in the news, and he does it better than any other player with the except ion of Jack ie Robinson. Nobody sits around these days and talks about, say, Walter Johnson, George Sisler, Johnny Mize or Nap Lajoie. But we still talk about Pete Rose. The kid stays in the picture. T h e P h i l a d e lp h i a Phillies wanted to induct Rose into their hall of fame a week ago, and they had planned on passing out little bobbleheads of his likeness to all the fans in attendance. As per the norm, the deal didn’t go down because Rose has some alleged NSFW issues. The Phillies had

good intentions, but if there’s anything Pete Rose does better than hitting a ball with a bat, it’s staying out of halls of fame. I love Philadelphia, and I love Philadelphia fans. I can relate a story about the time I was in a very famous resort town in New Jersey, and one day, over ice-cream sodas, conversation occurred with a few darling tourists from Dallas. Texas and New Jersey have some sort of kindred spirit. We don’t ever care about the price of gas, we don’t mind talking loud, and you have to presume that we’re packing heat. The person across the way started talking smack about Eli Manning and the Giants, and the Giant fans, in turn, returned fire about Tony Romo and Gov. Chris Christie, whom everyone in New Jersey hates. (There were no Jets fans in attendance because nobody ever talks about the Jets.) For dangerous fun, I pointed out one of the patrons in an Eagles hat and said to the Dallas fans to pay close attention. “At least we’re not EAGLE fans,” I said with

exaggeration, and like clockwork, within a microsecond, the Eagle fan’s head shot up. “DON’T EVEN GO THERE!” In context, it wasn’t a very genial reply, but it did beg my next question. “Go where? The Super Bowl? Where the Eagles will never go in your lifetime?” The barstool screeched across the floor. He tried to make a rush, but just like the Eagles front line he was subdued with ease, and the staff quickly punted him out the door. “See?” I said to the Dallas fan. “That’s a Philadelphia fan. Half of that city will literally fight you if you talk smack about their team.” And this is the town that won’t stand by Pete Rose and toss around a little doll? I’m not in any way suggesting that the allegations regarding Rose are something to make light of, but they are just that -- allegations. We don’t know what happened in his private life, but I think we all know far too much about Pete Rose’s life anyway. And seriously, Pete ... Philadelphia didn’t back you up? That’s hall of fame stuff right there. We know you’re the hit king, but after a while you have to admit that you’ve taken too many hits, too. Sooner or later you have to call the game. Cooking With Lizzie

F

Homemade Cookies

all is just around the corner and school for most has started! In the Summer when my children were small, baking consisted of blueberry and blackberry cobbler, peach delight, strawberry shortcake—anything to use fruits "in season." Apple tarts and apple pies were reserved for early fall, but one thing that became a tradition was baking cookies. It was a family affair; time well spent. It encouraged my sons to find their way around the kitchen and today at the ages of 44 and 41, they are both excellent cooks. The recipes below are easy to follow, so grab the kids and get started.

Candy Bar Cookies 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed l/2 cup soft butter l/2 cup light corn syrup 3 teaspoons vanilla

1 teaspoon salt 4 cups quick-cooking rolled oats l/2 cup peanut butter 1 cup semisweet chocolate pieces

Start heating the oven to 350°. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan with unsalted shortening or salad oil. With a spoon or electric mixer on medium speed, mix the brown sugar and butter in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add the corn syrup, vanilla, salt and rolled oats and beat on low speed to mix in-gredients well. Spread the mixture evenly in the greased pan with the back of a spoon or spatula. Bake on the rack in the center of the oven 15 minutes. While the mixture bakes, mix the peanut butter and chocolate in a small bowl. Remove the pan from the oven and at once spread the peanut butter-chocolate mixture evenly over the top to cover until the heat melts the chocolate. Cool in pan on rack, then cut into 27 bars and remove from the pan with a spatula.

Giant Raisin Cookies 1/2 cup raisins 1½ cups soft shortening 1½ cups sugar 2 large eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla 1 teaspoon grated orange peel

4 cups sifted flour 2 teaspoons salt 1½ teaspoons baking powder 1/3 cup milk Sugar (for tops) Raisins (for tops)

Cut the raisins coarsely with scissors. Beat the shortening and sugar together in a large bowl with the electric mixer on medium speed or with a spoon until fluffy. Add the eggs, vanilla and orange peel. Beat well. Sift the flour onto a square of waxed paper and then measure. Sift the measured flour with the salt and baking powder. Stir a little of the flour into the shortening-sugar mixture, then stir in a little milk. Mix well. Do this until all the flour and milk are used. Stir in the cut-up raisins. Divide the dough into three parts and chill 1 hour or longer in the refrigerator. Start heating the oven to 375°. Grease a baking sheet with unsalted shortening or salad oil. Roll one part of the dough at a time from the center to the edge on a lightly floured surface until a little less than 1/4 inch thick. Cut cookies by cutting around an empty 1-pound coffee can or its lid with a small knife. Place them 1 inch apart on greased baking sheets. Sprinkle the circles of dough with sugar. Cut the raisins in strips with scissors. Press the raisins into the cookies to make initials or names. Bake on the rack in the center of the oven 10 to 12 minutes, or until a light brown. Remove the pan from the oven and lift the cookies from the baking sheet with a wide spatula. Place them on a wire rack to cool. Store them in a jar with a loose lid. Makes 35. *** If you have a favorite recipe and want to share it with us, just send it in c/o The Shopper's Weekly, P.O. Dr. Underwood served as a founding member of the Tribute committee, as well as serving on the design committee and assisting in many of the group’s fundraising efforts. A retired Lt. Colonel, Dr. Underwood and his father, are among the more than 25,000 names listed on the first two completed walls of the

project. Soon those names will increase as the Tribute Committee is asking the KC Board to approve bids for the purchase, engrave and install the granite panels on the three new walls. Once completed, the Tribute is expected to have upwards of 35,000 additional names on display. The Jim Beasley Veterans Tribute recognizes veterans, living or deceased, who have connections to the counties of Bond, Clinton, Fayette, Marion and Washington. Each veteran has his or her name engraved with their branch of service. Anyone wanted to include a name for the Tribute, or seeking more information can call 618545-3069.

EAGLE LIFE

Ministries by: Cliff Sanders

Who is Jesus? (Part 2) Asking the right question can change one’s destiny. This is true in every vocation. Jesus asked his disciples the most important question of all. “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” As they recounted who others thought Jesus was, he asked them this vital question, “’But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’” Jesus told Peter that he

had been given a divine revelation of who Jesus is. (Matthew 16:13-18) Who do you say Jesus is? Your response will determine your eternal destiny. In part one we examined the historical Jesus, the prophet Jesus, and the teacher Jesus. Who is Jesus? THE MIRACLE WORKING JESUS. The Jewish historian Josephus referred to the Jesus who went about doing good and performing miracles. Much of the gospels describe the multitude of Jesus’ miracles. He turned

water into wine, fed the multitudes, walked on water, healed the blind, deaf, and crippled. He raised the dead. The greatest miracle of all – He arose from the dead on the third day. Jesus said, “For the works which the Father has given me to finish the very works I do – bear witness of me, that the Father has sent me.” (John 5:36) But Jesus is more than a miracle worker. He is the virgin born Son of God. THE SUFFERING JESUS. Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would be a suffering servant. (Isaiah 53) “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon him and by his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) David prophesied of

Christ’s death by crucifixion and recorded the very words he would utter from the cross. (Psalm 22) Jesus foretold his death, burial, and resurrection. (Matthew 16:21; 17:23; Mark 9:31; 10:34) On the cross, as the sun refused to shine, Jesus cried out, “It is finished.” (John 19:30) Jesus completed his mission – to die for the sins of the world. Oh, what a Savior! THE LIVING JESUS. Death could not hold him. On the third day Jesus arose victorious over death, hell, and the grave. He appeared to his disciples and on one occasion to over 500 at one time. Lee Strobel writes in his book “A Case for Christ”, “I went to a psychologist friend and said, ‘If 500 people claimed to see Jesus after he died, it was

just a hallucination.’ He said. ‘Hallucinations are an individual event. If 500 people have the same hallucination, that’s a bigger miracle than the resurrection.’” The great hymn, “He Lives”, says, “You ask me how I know he lives? He lives within my heart.” When Jesus appeared to John on the Isle of Patmos, he said, “Do not be afraid, I am the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, I am he who lives and was dead and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” (Revelation 1:17-18; 2:8) See Jesus’ promise for the church in Matthew 16:1819. THE DIVINE JESUS. Isaiah prophesied, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his

shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6-7) Jesus is God come in the flesh. (Philippians 2:5-11) Jesus claimed deity and displayed deity. Jesus was either a lunatic, a liar, a devilish deceiver or he was whom he claimed to be – the Son of God. After examining the evidence, the only conclusion one can come to is that Jesus is Divine – the Son of God. Who is Jesus to you? May God give you the same revelation that Peter had, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” (Matthew 16:17)

Children from households that meet federal guidelines are eligible for free or reduced price meals or free milk. All meals served must meet the U.S. Department of Agriculture meal requirements. However, if a child has been determined by a doctor to have a disability and the disability would prevent the child from eating the regular school meal, your school will make substitutions prescribed by the doctor. If a substitution is needed, there will be no extra charge for the meal. If you believe your child needs substitutions because of a disability, please get in touch with your local school for further information. Application forms are being sent to all homes with a letter to parents or guardians. To apply for free or reduced price benefits, households must complete the application as soon as possible, sign it and return it to the school. Households should answer all applicable questions on the form. An application which does not contain all the required information cannot be processed and approved by the school. The required information is covered below. FOOD STAMP/TANF HOUSEHOLDS: If a house-

hold currently receives Food Stamps or “Temporary Assistance for Needy Families” (TANF) for their child(ren), they only have to list the child(ren)’s name and Food Stamp or TANF case number and sign the application. Link card numbers cannot be used. ALL OTHER HOUSEHOLDS: If a household’s income is at or below the level shown on the income scale, children are eligible for either free or reduced price meals or free milk. The information on the application may be verified by school or other officials at any time during the school year. Households may apply for benefits at any time during the school year. Households that are not eligible now but have a decrease in household income, an increase in household size, or a household member that becomes unemployed, should fill out an application at that time. In certain cases foster children are eligible for free or reduced-price meal services or free milk household income. Households that have foster children living with them and wish to apply for free or reduced-price for meal services or free milk for them should complete the application. Homeless, migrant and runaway youth are categorically eligible for free meals.

As I sat visiting with a dear friend Sunday afternoon — or should I say venting about what's happening in America today — we both agreed and shared the disgust. And after the fact, we both realized it may be too late to turn the clock back. We talked about those destroying our country's history; protests that turn violent; the snowflake regime, complete with safety pins; the war on police officers; the racial tension as bad as it was in the 60s; and people holding replicas of a bloody beheaded president. We talked about corrupt-tothe-bone government filled with those that instill hate in our country — people like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and the Reverend Al Sharpton. We talked about a party thats main goal is to impeach the seated president and the other party that I call the Washington establishment. And we talked about historic marches, especially in the streets of New York, with an organizer that was aimed at bringing down President Trump. The partial brain behind this particular movement was none other than a convicted terrorist, a Pakistani that served time for her part in two terrorist bombings, one of which killed two students while shopping for groceries. She spent 10 years in prison and is a disgusting individual to look up to. Oh you didn't hear that on the news! And quickly my friend reminded me of a book that was written by George Orwell in 1949, a book we both read. The book is called 1984 and it was spot on. If you haven't read it, I would suggest you do just that. Yet as all the above unfolds, the extreme left and the Washington establishment don't get it. They continue their actions without a second thought, tearing at the very fabric of our country. Several years ago I wrote

a column called "This Isn't My Father's Party." And I can assure you, if he could come back today he would be horrified. I can hear him say, "What happened?" Yet there are many, including the liberal media, that continue to push to unhinge Donald Trump while he has been in office only eight months. There are those that would try to convince the rest of us that he started this revolution and is solely responsible for what's happening today. Guess what! He isn't! He did not create the mess we are in, and no matter what he does or says, there are those that refuse to give him a chance. I, for one, don't like everything he says or does, but I continue to realize he's a thousand times better than the other candidate. I wish I could set the clock back 40 years to a time when people had respect for one another and cared about their neighbor, but most of all loved their country... to a time when to burn the American flag would not have been good for anyone who did... to a time when no American would have remained seated during the national anthem. So with all that said, I'm sure I'll take some flak over this column. However, unlike CNN, MSNBC, and the rest of the liberal media, I felt it was time to say it! It's not about the democrats or republicans; it's about a destructive movement. I respect everyone's opinion, but I don't respect the attacks on this president; the destruction of history; protests that turn violent on either side; the attacks on our brave men and women that join police forces across this land to protect you and me; the disrespect of our military; those that think they are owed a living; college students who walk out of their graduation because Vice President Mike Pence was the speaker; moving a sports announcer to another game because his name is Robert Lee; or a

Senator saying Trump should be assassinated! Enough is enough! So with that said, on to last week. A lot happened this week, like the President's pardon of Joe Arpaio, the former Arizona Sheriff whose aggressive effort to hunt down and detain undocumented immigrants was well known. On Friday Trump pardoned Arpaio. He was convicted of criminal contempt but not sentenced. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that tension between North Korea and the U.S. has lessened, even after North Korea tested three more missiles last week. Hillar y's new book comes out the first week of September. The book is being promoted by her line about the second debate by saying, "Now we were on a small stage and no matter where I walked, he followed me closely, staring at me, making faces. It was incredibly uncomfortable. He was literally breathing down my neck. My skin crawled," Clinton wrote in the book excerpt. And no, that wasn't the same debate that Donna Brazil gave her the questions in advance. Too bad that didn't make her uncomfortable. Last but not least, Hurricane Harvey hit Texas. Gov. Greg Abbott spoke of Trump's response, saying, "I've never seen that kind of response and help this quick." Now is the time we all need to pray for our fellow Americans in the path of this storm which is already a national disaster. God Bless Texas. In closing, a wise young man asked me a few weeks ago, "When there's so much hate on both sides how can anything be resolved?" I didn't have an answer. Until next week. To comment on this or any column in The Shopper’s Weekly, please mail to: Editor, P.O. Box 1223, Centralia IL 62801, email to info@theshoppersweekly.com or drop it off at the office on 301 E. Broadway. In order for your letter to be considered for publication, you must provide your signature and an address and phone number where you can be reached. CAVALETTO: GOVERNOR SIGNS INFECTIOUS DISEASE TESTING State Representative John Cavaletto (RSalem), Republican Spokesperson for the Fire & Emergency Services Committee, announced today that Governor Rauner signed into law Public Act 100-0270 that allows for the testing of all infectious diseases when a first responder or law enforcement personnel is accidentally exposed to a suspects bodily fluids through being spit upon or stuck by a suspected drug needle. “The idea for this legislation came from the Marion County Sheriff ’s office as a result of multiple incidents where law enforcement personnel were accidentally exposed from drug needle sticks while ar-

resting people, explained Rep. Cavaletto. “The law in Illinois only allows for testing of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus that causes AIDS) and not any other infectious diseases like hepatitis for example. This new law will help protect our first responders as well as their spouses and children from unknowingly being exposed to lifethreatening and life-alt e r i n g d i s e a s e s , Cavaletto added. The incident to bring urgency to this infectious disease testing initiative involved a member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security who was assisting local law enforcement on serving a warrant and making an arrest. That officer was stuck by a needle while

searching the premises of the arrest and only because the suspect eventually voluntarily agreed to have their blood tested, that it was discovered they carried a contagious virus (not HIV). But by this time the spouse and children of the US Marshall had already been exposed. “I want to thank Detective Anthony Decker of the Marion C o u n t y S h e r i f f ’s Department who brought this matter to my attention. I’m sorry it took an incident where innocent family members became exposed through no fault of their own to change and update the law, he added. “This is an example of commonsense legislation where

we worked with a variety of groups from first responders to the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) to consider balancing individual liberties with public health and safety, Cavaletto concluded. In the hearing, no opposition appeared, but a number of groups supporting this legislation appeared as witnesses in favor including the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, Fire Chief EMS Committee, State Ambulance Association, State Medical Society, and the Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing. The bill passed the House and the Senate unanimously on its way to the Governor’s desk.

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS 2017 SCHEDULE

2 CARDINALS BASEBALL TICKETS!

•“If you are going on vacation, leave a plastic baggie filled with ice cubes in your freezer. When you return, if the baggie is filled with a single chunk of ice, you’ll know your power was interrupted long enough to spoil your food while you were away.” -G.L. in Missouri •Here’s another moving tip: Bundle clothing on hangers with a rubber band. Slip the whole lot into a trash bag. The items will be ready to hang in the new closet with hardly any fuss. •Ants in your pet’s food bowl? Set cat or dog food bowls in a pie plate or other shallow dish filled with water. Ants and bugs can’t cross the water to get to the food, so it’s safe from pests. •“Use charcoal in the bathroom to prevent humidity from turning into mildew. Put a few charcoal bricks into a small open container, like a bowl. Then just tuck it behind the toilet. It traps excess moisture. Use only plain char-

coal, not the kind that has lighter fluid in it!” -- W.K. in Ohio •“If you have a magnetic closure on a kitchen cabinet that is too strong (you have to really pull the door to get it open), try this simple fix: Put a small piece of clear tape over the magnet. It reduces the magnet’s pull just enough that it doesn’t take as much effort. We did this at my grandma’s house when she got new kitchen cabinets, and she’s much happier now!” -- Y.L.S. in Alabama •Have a terrific-smelling candle that’s burned down to bits? Scrape them out, and place in a small mason jar. Poke holes in the lid, and cap the jar. Then keep the jar in your car’s cup holder. When the car warms in the sun, it’ll smell wonderful, and there’s no need for a flame. Send your tips to Now Here's a Tip, 628 Virginia Drive, Orlando, FL 32803. © 2017 King Features Synd., Inc.

By Larry Cox Hull Pottery Q: I have inherited a piece of Hull pottery in the Coronet pattern. It is a 9-inch vase. What can you tell me about it? -- Susan, Pueblo West, Colorado A: The Coronet line of Hull pottery was made to be sold in chain stores. Most of the ones I have seen are marked “Coronet,” not Hull. I found your vase referenced in “Warman’s Hull Pottery” by David Doyle. Doyle lists your vase in the $15 to $25 range. *** Q: I love to pick up odd kitchen utensils. Since I live in Iowa, I attend as many

farm auctions as I can, and this is where I have found some of the truly unique items in my collection. As you can imagine, I sometimes discover an older piece that I can’t identify. I am enclosing a picture of just such an item. What is it? -- Mark, Iowa A: I found your item in 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles by Linda Campbell Franklin (Krause, $29.95). It is a candy-curling machine, which was used for making candies known as “opera curls.” According to this guide, it is worth about $150. Incidentally, you should purchase a copy

of this book. It will make your hobby even more fun and will quickly become one of your favorite references. *** Q: I have an old lawn mower that has been owned by my family since the 1930s. Is it valuable, or should I toss it? -- Steve, New Mexico A: I’ll cut to the chase. Most older lawn mowers manufactured in the United States have very little value. In my 40 years of writing this column, I have yet to find a club for collectors. I suggest you post it on eBay, and if a feeding frenzy de-

velops, you’ll have your answer. *** Q: I have an album of “The Best of the Statler Brothers” that has never been opened. I would like to find out it’s value. -- Betty, Minnesota A: I found your 1975 album listed in the Goldmine Standard Catalogue of American Records 19501975 edited by Tim Neely (Krause, $34.99). It is worth $12. Write to Larry Cox in care of KFWS, 628 Virginia Drive, Orlando, FL 32803, or send e-mail to questionsforcox@aol.com. Due to the large volume of mail he receives, Mr. Cox cannot personally answer all reader questions, nor does he do appraisals. Do not send any materials requiring return mail. WINDOWS AND SIDING

DEAR PAW’S CORNER: I read your column with the question from Christine B. in Atlanta about her struggle to find pet-friendly housing. I am a director at a nonprofit housing provider, and previously worked as a fair-housing specialist in Nevada. I do not know Christine B.’s specific situation with her cats regarding whether or not she has a disability. However, I feel compelled to offer the following comments and tips regarding Reasonable Accommodations in rental housing under U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which applies to all rental properties of more than

four units where the owner does not reside on-site. In April 2013, HUD’s office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity released guidance stating that any comfort, therapy or companion animal is considered a service animal. This is much broader than the more familiar ADA requirement defining a service animal as either a dog or a miniature horse trained to assist a disabled person with a certain task. Many people who suffer from depression and anxiety as well as those with physical ailments who benefit from their companion animals (cats too!) can request a Reasonable Accommodation from a landlord. Because they are considered service animals per HUD’s guidance, landlords may NOT collect pet deposits, pet fees or pet rent from residents requesting this accommodation. I firmly believe that all tenants should be aware of their

by Samantha Weaver • It was 18th-century American novelist and poet Herman Melville who made the following sage observation: “Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the wel l-hous e d, wel lwarmed, and well-fed.” • Those who study such things say that the three subjects that spark the most arguments in a marriage are money, children and driving. Of course, any couple that has had to figure out a teenager’s auto insurance costs already knows that. • Dogs can be xenophobic, too -- those are the pups that are afraid of strangers. • You’ve heard of standing desks, right? Standing desks are not a new invention, however; they reportedly were used by such notable historical figures as Benjamin Franklin, Leonardo da Vinci, T homas Je f fe rs on , Virginia Woolf, Oliver Wendell Holmes and Winston Churchill. • According to scientists, time can be measured more accurately than length. • If you’re sick of naysayers, you might want to try becoming a yeasayer for a day. Yep, that’s a word -- it refers to a person with a confident and positive outlook. (Note: It also can mean a yes-man -- someone

who agrees uncritically with others -- but let’s be confident and go with the positive definition.) • It’s been reported t h at 1 6 t h - c e nt u r y English theologian John Wesley, founder of Methodism, never ate an evening meal. *** Thought for the Day: “We open our mouths and out flow words whose ancestries we do not even know. We are walking lexicons. In a single sentence of idle chatter we preserve Latin, Anglo-Saxon, Norse: we carr y a museum inside our heads, each day we commemorate peoples of whom we have never heard.” —Penelope Lively

ARIES (March 21 to April 19) This week could offer more opportunities for ambitious Lambs eager to get ahead. But don’t rush into making decisions until you’ve checked for possible hidden problems. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) Some light begins to shine on professional and/or personal situations that have long eluded explanation. Best advice: Don’t rush things. All will be made clear in time. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) Although you might want to protest what seems to be an unfair situation, it’s best to keep your tongue and temper in check for now. The full story hasn’t yet come out. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) Work prospects are back on track. But watch what you say. A thoughtless comment to the wrong person -- even if it’s said in jest -- could delay or even derail your progress. LEO (July 23 to August 22) A colleague might try to goad you into saying or doing the wrong thing. It’s best to ignore the troublemaker, even if he or she riles your royal self. Your supporters stand with you. VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) Be careful not to let your on-the-job zealousness create resentment with co-workers who might feel you shut them out. Prove them wrong by including them in your project. LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) Although it’s not quite what you hoped for, use your good business

sense to make the most of what you’re being offered at this time. Things will improve down the line. SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) A more positive picture of what lies ahead is beginning to take shape. But there are still too many gaps that need to be filled in before you make definitive plans. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) Continue to keep a tight hold on the reins so that you don’t charge willy-nilly into a situation that might appear attractive on the surface but lack substance. CAPRICORN (December 22 to January 19) You still need to demand those answers to your questions. Remember, your wise counseling earns you respect, but it’s your search for truth that gives you wisdom. AQUARIUS (January 20 to February 18) You’ll find that people are happy to help you deal with some difficult situations. And, of course, knowing you, you’ll be happy to return those favors anytime. Won’t you? PISCES (February 19 to March 20) Give that special someone in your personal life a large, loving dollop of reassurance. That will go a long way toward restoring the well-being of your ailing relationship. BORN THIS WEEK: You are a delightful paradox. You like things neat and tidy. But you’re also a wonderful host who can throw a really great party. © 2017 King Features Synd., Inc.
