centralia ORPHANS The Orphans under Coach Lee Bennett are off to a great start with an 8-1 record and are ready for the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. The Orphans are a senior laden team led by 6'2" Javon Williams, 6'2" Johnathan Keeleer, and 6'0" Jordan Maines. They are joined by junior 5'8" Bryan Meskil and 5'9" sophomore Jamie Long. This group plays tight defense and has good, solid ball control. The Orphans are trying to win their third championship in the last five years and Coach Lee Bennett's fifth as a head coach in the CHT. The Orphans will also have seniors Matt Patrick at 5'10", along with 5'10" Sirlando Cucutt and 6'1" Peyton Long. As you

can see, these Orphans aren't on the tall side but have learned to win with defense. These Orphans will see 6'0" Hunter Martin, sophomore 5'10" Preston Johannes, 5'8" Akeel Johnson and 6'2" Shaun Reid, a senior transfer from Salem, who happens to be the Orphans' opening night foe in the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. Coach Lee Bennett has his eye on the prize in winning the CHT and that could really throw this group of Orphans into a real solid run in the playoffs, especially with the playoffs sectional being played on the Orphans' home floor at Trout Arena. ALTON REDBIRDS The Redbirds are off and running with a 6-1 record and Coach Eric Smith knows this could be the year for his Redbirds in both the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament as well as the Southwest Conference. The Redbirds are being led by 6'0" Kevin Caldwell, 6'3" Malik Smith, 6'3" Donovan Clay, 6'0" Jamal Jones, 6'2" Jacoby Jones and 6'1" Ky'lun Rivers. As always, Coach Smith plays his full court pressure and tough man-to-man

defense and will look to these players to help keep his game plan at top speed: 6'1" Brandon Droste, 5'10" Charles Miller, 5'6" Josh Rivers, 6'1" Moory Woods, 6'3" Izeal Terrell, 5'10" Darrell Smith and 5'8"

Ahmad Sanders. The Redbirds always play well in the CHT and have already gotten the job done in their own Thanksgiving Tournament where they won second place. Centralia Orphans

Coach Lee Bennett won the CHT twice while head coach of the Redbirds, and Coach Smith would like to put one on the Alton shelf himself. The Redbirds have three players averaging double figures which, with their speed, gives other teams fits trying to stop them. The Redbirds are happy to be part of the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. Team profile by Mike Ellis

ARLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL (TN) TIGERS The Arlington Tigers are heading north for the fourth year in a row, looking to make a lot of noise in the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. Coach Deaton has his Tigers trying to turn the corner before they get to the CHT with a 3-4 record. The Tigers will have some solid experience in 5'11" Boston Miller, 6'0" Sam Wiseman, 6'5" Brogan Brewer and 6'3" Ray Price who all played in last year's CHT for Coach Deaton. The Tigers will try to use the

Centralia Holiday Tournament to get their season headed in the right direction. The Tigers play in a tough area of Memphis basketball, so Coach Deaton will use all his players like 5'9" Keegan

Thomas, 6'2" Jake Price, 6'2" Jordan Ruben, 6'2" Virgil Evans and 5'10" Jace Lockhart. This allows Coach Deaton to have enough size and speed to play his solid type defense all over the court. The Tigers play in

the Tennessee 3A Division which is the biggest division. The Tigers have roughly 2,400 students. Coach Deaton likes the big crowds his Tigers get to play in front of at the CHT, and as many Orphans fans remember, he also brought his Bartlett Tennessee teams here first. The Tigers are very happy to be a part of the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. Team profile by Mike Ellis

BELLEVILLE WEST MIGHTY MAROONS The Maroons are coming to the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament this year to finish what they started last year when Coach Joe Muniz and his Maroons were second place. Coach Muniz has his Maroons off to a great 7-1 start and the entire Southwest Conference has noticed that the 6'7" EJ Liddell is the real deal this season. Also, the Maroons have 6'5" Keith

G

Randolph, 6'5" Demerius Richmond, and 6'4" Marcellus Romious who allow Coach Muniz to pound the ball inside and play great half court defense that the Maroons are known for.

The Maroons are one of the all time great programs that have been playing in the CHT for several decades with a pile of trophies to show their great successes over all their appearances in the

CHT. Coach Muniz's roster will use every player like 5'10" Zion Woodie, 5'11" Curtis Williams, 6'3" Malachi Smith and 6'2" Jaylin Mosby, along with 5'11" Lawrence Brazill III, 5'10" Cameron Clark, and 6'2" Justin Edwards. These guys will allow the Maroons to press the issue for Coach Muniz all four quarters of every game they play in the 75th CHT. Team profile by Mike Ellis

CAHOKIA COMANCHES The Comanches under Coach Darren Nash are on an upswing after starting the season 0-3 and now stand at 4-4. They are looking to be on an extended roll going into the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. Coach Nash has his Comanches playing his full court four quarters of pressure with players like 6'7" Richard Robinson, 6'3" Elijah Rice, 6'4" Deavis Johnson, 6'3" Shamon Hudson, and 6'0" Cortez Brown. Along with

5'10" Kent Quilling, 6'1" Marco McGee, 6'1" Antwan Baker, 5'11" Jeremiah Braggs, 6'4" Armani Phillips, 6'3" Kendez Basquine and

6'3" Sidney Houston, this full roster lets Coach Nash continue his speed and defense game plan, and it stays in place all season long.

The Comanches are trying to get back to where they were just a few years ago when they were the team to beat at the CHT. The Comanches have four players scoring in double figures, which will give other teams fits trying to stop them. They are looking to be in the top half of the South Seven conference this season and be a force when the 3A Playoffs start in 2018. Team profile by Mike Ellis

CARMEL CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL CORSAIRS The Corsairs of the East Suburban Catholic League are coming to the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament for the first time, and Coach Zack Ryan will look to represent the North just like his conference Rival Marist has done here for decades. Coach Ryan will have a nice size group in a trio of 6'5 players, Damone Williams-Gray; Jonathan Roeser; and Jeffrey Smith along with 6'4" Lukas Galdoni; 6'3" Jalen Snell; 6'3" Brandon

Evans; and 6'2" Trey Resetich. This will allow Coach Ryan to use his overall size to play a tough half court game. The Corsairs will use their full roster to get to the finals of the

Tournament. Coach has this group of speedsters in 5'10" Julian Speights, 5'9" Mason Schaedel, 6'1" Matthew Brolley, 5'11" Zion Kilpatrick, 5'11" Kimahri Wilson, 6'1" William Schott, and 6'0"

Evan Myers. This roster of solid players are used to hard and tough play in the east Suburban conference all the time, and that's what it will take to get through the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. The Corsairs are looking forward to playing in the Trout Arena for the very first time, and Coach Ryan doesn't think they will be awe-struck with the great crowds at the CHT. CHAMPAIGN CENTRAL MAROONS Champaign Central Maroons are one of the great teams to play in the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament and this year will make their 68th appearance in the CHT. This year's Maroons under Coach Jeff Finke are off to a 4-3 start and look to once again make it to the semifinals for the third straight year. The Maroons are again led by 6'7" Tim Finke, 6'3" A'Kieon Gill, 6'4" Luke McMahon, 6'5" Jaden Buie, 6'5"

Khailieo Terry, 6'3" Isaiah Jackson, and 6'3" Jonte Coleman. With this much size, the Maroons of Coach Finke will try to pound the ball in the paint and play really tough half

court defense. Coach Finke will use his whole roster, including 6'0" Qwentin Peacock, 6'2" Jaden Aikens, 5'9" Jalen Booker, 6'0" Gus Rossow, 5'11" Ray

Weatherall, and 6'3" Sam Beesley so that he can keep the pressure on and not worry about who has how many fouls. The CHT always looks forward to the Maroons being one of the teams in the hunt for the finals every year, and the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament will be the same. Coach Finke will be looking for his Maroons to get to the State finals this season. Team profile by Mike Ellis

CONFLUENCE PREP ACADEMY (ST. LOUIS) TITANS The Titans of St. Louis are really steaming into the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament with an 8-1 record and Coach Karvinen having his Titans now knowing what level they have to play at to compete in the CHT. Coach Brian Karvinen leads a two headed monster in 5-10" Brandon Fredrick, averaging 31.3 points per game, and big man 6'7" Leon Pery, averaging 24.8 along with 12.6 rebounds per

game. These two are a load to handle both inside and out. Coach Karvinen also has 5'11" Michael Clark, 6'8" Ahmad Hodges, 6'3" William Howard, 6'6" Nhatavis Wilson, 5'8" Devin

Phillips and 6'3" Rashad Warren. Along with 6'4" Jermaine Bell, this group will allow Coach Karvinen to play his power game in the half court to control the tempo of the game, which is what the Titans

are good at this season. The Titans will use 5'11" Devion Isaiah, 5'10" Clarence Latimore, and 5'10" Zedyric Lott to help push the ball at times when they need to and get the ball to their two big time scorers. This year Coach Brian Karvinen and his Titans will look to take a trophy from the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament back across the river to St. Louis. Team profile by Mike Ellis

eVanStOn tOWnSHiP HiGH ScHOOl WILDKITS The Wildkits are back at the CHT for the first time in over forty years when they were coached by Centralia Orphans allstater Herb Williams. The Wildkits are coached today by Mike Ellis and he comes to the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament with a very good record of 7-2 out of the Central Suburban League. Coach Ellis has his Wildkits primed to take some hardware back up north with them. Coach Ellis has a good sized squad in 6'7"

Matthew Hall, 6'5" Jaylen Winfield, a pair of 6'4" players in Thomas Nuemann and Jalen Christian, and 6'3" Jaylin Gibson. This is enough size for Coach Ellis to play a power game down low in the box. The Wildkits under

Coach Williams finished in the winners bracket four times in their four years here back in the day. Coach Ellis will use these players to help his Wildkits to do the same thing again with 5'10" Jaheim Holden, 5'7"

Isaiah Holden, 5'11" Reggie Henley Jr., 5'7" Elijah Bull, 5'10" Gabriel Cheeks, 6'0" Russell Peters, 6'1" William Porter, 6'0 Semaje Jefferson and a trio of 6'2" players in Lance Jones, Rasheed Bakare and Ben Tarpey that give Coach Ellis a full squad to push his Wildkits to the finals. We will see if the Wildkits can get the job done in the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. Team profile by Mike Ellis

Germantown (TN) RED DEVILS The Red Devils of Germantown are on their way north to play in the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament for the fourth year in a row. Coach Jason James has his Red Devils playing at a reasonable rate of 6-4, which will be better when they get to Centralia. Coach James will use his size to get the ball inside to the big boys like 6'7"

Mark Johnson, 6'4" Malik Moore, 6'4" Andre Eason, 6'5" Morgan Long and a trio of 6'3" players to give Coach James the size to match up with any team in the tournament.

The little guys will let the Devils keep everyone else at bay — 6'1" Miles Love, 5'10" Dionte Anding, 5'10" Javion Stephens, along with 5'9" Jeremiah Phillips and 5'6" Vincent

Thomas. The Red Devils play in Tennessee's 3A Class when the state playoffs start. Coach James likes to bring his Devils north to get his players ready to play in front of Centralia's big crowds and allows them to prepare for the noise levels at the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. Team profile by Mike Ellis

Lausanne Collegiate School (MEMPHIS) LYNX The Lynx are on their way from the south to Illinois for the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. Coach Marvis Davis has his team coming to Centralia for a test that he thinks will build their program into a southern powerhouse. The Lynx will be depending on these young men to get the job done: 6'7" Johnathan DeJurnett, 6'5" Schyler Forest, 6'5" Gray Clark, 6'5" Alden Applewhite, 6'6" Kohen

Thompson and a pair of 6'4" players in Jalen Montgomery and Corteze Love. As you can tell, the Lynx are big and talented for Coach Davis. The Lynx are off and going with a 4-1 record in the early going before

playing in the CHT for the very first time. They will also have these young guns for Coach Davis to use in 6'0" Dylan Andrews, 6'3" Dylan Woods, 5'10" Eric Gray, 6'2" Cameron Sims, 6'2" Calvin Jennings and

5'8" Ashton Smith that will allow Coach Davis to use everybody to wear their foes down and then use their great size to pound the rock in to the paint. Coach Davis loves to use their bigs in the half court and will use their style of play to win in the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. The Lynx of Memphis are happy for their turn at the CHT to represent the great state of Tennessee. Team profile by Mike Ellis

MariSt HiGH ScHOOl (cHicaGO) REDHAWKS Coach Gene Nolan comes back to the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament as the winning coach of last year's CHT champion team and his Redhawks are off to an unbeaten streak at 6-0. Coach Nolan's Redhawks are being led by 6'5" Conor Coyne, 6'3" Morgan Taylor and 6'4" Kyle Jennings, also having 5'9" Dylan Hill, 5'10" Nile Hill, 5'11" Tristan Ach, 6'4" David Daniels, 6'1" Jose Vazquez and 5'11" Joshua Morris. These Hawks play

in the East Suburban Catholic League and Coach Nolan wants his team to win the conference this year, along with repeating at the CHT this year. The Redhawks will also look to 6'3" Jimmy Porter, 6'2" Trey Affolter,

6'0" Jimmy Knight, 6'1" Ethan Field, 6'1" Dorion Pendleton and finally 6'0" Jack Ellison. The Redhawks are a top favorite of the CHT and this will be their 42nd Centralia Holiday Tournament which is in

its 75th year. Coach Nolan will have his Redhawks playing their Princeton style offense and their very tough man-to-man defense and every once in a while their good full court press. The Redhawks will play a couple other tournaments before they arrive in Centralia so they will be tournament-ready when they hit the court in the Trout Arena. Team profile by Mike Ellis

Mt. VERNON RAMS The Mt. Vernon Rams are off to a solid start with a 6-4 record, which is a bit misleading considering that they have played the Marion Wildcats twice already in just ten days and lost both games. But they tied for first at the Pyramid Tournament. The Rams are led by 6'6" Weston Brockhouse, 6'2" Jake Martin, 5'10" Zach Williams, 5'11" Jackson Cerell, 6'1" Amir Spann and 6'1"

O'Shea Hardin. Coach Creel will have his Rams ready for the 75th Centralia Holiday tournament where they will play in the first game of the CHT this year. Coach Creel will

Coach Creel will also use 6'1" Teion Jennings, 6'2" Andrew Ashby and 5'9" Jadon Nelson, and let's not forget A'deson Jones, which will give the Rams a full roster for Coach Creel to wear down anyone they play with their slowed down and controlled style. O'Fallon PANTHERS Coach Brian Muniz has his Panthers off to a 5-3 record, and is getting ready for the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. They are looking to move past the first day and have a chance to reach the semi-finals for the first time in a while. Coach Muniz will look at 6'3" Ronnie Anthony, 6'6" Kameron Neal, 6'4"

Garrett Herring, 6'4" Ryan Ritchie, 6'3" Robert Hayes and 6'1" Logan Shieppe to give their tourney foes all the size and speed they can handle in the tournament along with 6'1" Nick Boone, 5'8"

Teron Bowman II, 6'1" Jalen Hodge, and 6'2" Isaiah Craft, along with a pair of 5'9" speedsters in Josiah Gibson and Quinn Harris, which will let Coach Muniz keep the pressure on the other team. O'Fallon

will try to return to their winning ways that they have always had in the Centralia Holiday Tournament over the last dozen years or so. The Panthers will look to stay at the top of the Southwest Conference this season and be well prepared for the playoffs when they are ready to start in February 2018. Team profile by Mike Ellis

SALEM WILDCATS The Wildcats will enter the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament with a very tough game in the first round, a night game against the host Centralia Orphans which Coach Andy Fehrenbacher knows will be awfully tough for his Wildcats to overcome. Coach has his Cats off to a 5-4 start as they have charged into a new conference this season. Instead of the Apollo Conference they are in the Mississippi Valley and their confi-

dence is high right now. Coach Fehrenbacher will look to 6'5" Damond Crosby, 6'3" Kaden Wayer, 6'1" Max Phillips, 5'11" Dawson Linder and 6'3" Hayden Wimberly to lead his

Wildcats this season. He will also look for 5'11" Isaak Hays, 5'10" Jacob Harness, 6'1" Brett Whitney, 6'3" Levi Hays, 6'0" Eric Brubaker, 6'6" Cord Brown and 5'11" Jack Boeker to be a big

part of the Cats attack this season. The Cats of Coach Andy Fehrenbacher have always wanted to play in the CHT in a night game and this, the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament, they get their chance, albeit against the Orphans. So, sometimes you get what you want, but in this case, probably not what Coach wanted for his Cats in the first round of the 75th Centralia Holiday Tournament. Team profile by Mike Ellis
