Al Reusch Wins The High Fly Cup At Balloon Fest 2018 Initiated from the caring community spirit of Balloonist Wes Rinker, and named after his Baseball Balloon, “High Fly”, The High Fly Cup is an annual award presented at Balloon Fest. It recognizes those balloonists, who from their unselfish deeds and caring actions, are truly HIGH FLY AMBASSADORS of ballooning and ambassadors of life. From the smiles they put on children’s faces to the memories that they leave behind, they make a difference. This year’s winner of the High Fly award was Al Reusch of Macomb, Illinois. Al flies the balloon Knot Over and his sponsor

this year was the City of Centralia. Al Reusch was a close personal friend of Wes Rinker, Macomb being the hometown of both. In fact, Reusch has run the balloon event in Macomb for years. Reusch, in his acceptance speech, noted that Rinker was a fun loving person and always had that “turn the head and wink” gesture that made you know something funny was going to happen. Reusch told of two comical happenings, one about Wes and his son Dan, also now a balloon pilot, Shoppers Weekly Staff Photo the other about Wes and his daughter’s balloon Pictured with his wife and chase crew, Evie Reusch, Beth Hoffman, Reusch, Emma Peper and flight. Congratulations, Al! Mary Ellen Peper.

“Expert Auto Body Repair”

— Randy Wow, what a week! McGahn, Mueller probe, John Brenner security clearance revoked, Andrew Cuomo, and old book selling Omarosa... I'm sure I missed something. And this is the week I'm told to keep it short and sweet! Well, I can't promise short, and we all know not sweet. After all, the truth hurts. First up, Obama's closest security advisor, John Brenner — and in my opinion, one of the leaders of Trump's enemies (the resistance team) — had his security clearance revoked last week. But other Obama administration members may soon follow. Keep in mind most of the GOP is supporting this recent Trump move of revoking Brenner's security clearance. He is now an NBC News National Security Analyst, which, in my mind, is reason enough, other than his treasonous statements against the President. And let's not forget he lied to Intelligence, another reason he should lose his security clearance. It should have been jerked a long time ago. Brenner's comments have been and continue to be over the top, including accusing Trump of treason. If anyone is guilty of treason, in my opinion, it's none other than Brenner, even though on one of the Sunday morning talk shows last week he tried to walk it back. I haven't found or heard a reasonable explanation why anyone who has resigned, been released or for any other reason is no longer with the government, needs security clearance, especially those of questionable character, like John Brenner, Susan Rice, James Comey and certainly Hillar y Clinton, who intentionally destroyed classified information. If she still has a secu-

rity clearance, it's all about common sense. However, John Brenner did say he would do what he could to keep the CIA and the other intelligence agencies pure. Too bad some of those federal agents didn't keep their agencies pure in the day of Peter Strzok and FBI Agent Lisa Page and others. Surely Brenner does jest! I think he's a little late. The point remains the President has the right to cancel anyone's security clearance. Let's not forget that! In my opinion, John Brenner is the worst of the worst and appears to be the leader of the Washington resistance group along with half of Washington. Speaking of that, those nine that may soon lose their security clearance are part of it. They are: John Clapper (Obama's former DNI Director), James Comey (Obama's former FBI Director), Micheal Hayden (former Deputy Dire c tor of Nat iona l Intelligence), Sally Yates (Obama's former Deputy Attorney General), Susan Rice (Obama's former National Security Advisor and chief liar for Obama and Hillary), Andrew McCabe (Obama's former Deputy Director FBI), Peter Strzok (Obama's former Chief of t he counterespionage section), Lisa Page (former FBI and Strzok disgraced lover), Bruce Ohr (current member of the Senior Executive Service who I look to be fired soon). My question is: Where's Hillary Clinton's name on this list? Please note the connection above: Obama! The only problem I see with the above list is it's not long enough. On to the Paul Manafort trial. The jury is in deliberations at this time. I look for an adjournment sometime

this week. It's been reported that Don McGahn cooperated extensively with the Mueller probe and was questioned for 30 hours plus and was a strong defense witness for Trump! And while I think about Manafort under house arrest and then sent to jail with no opportunity to be released on bail, it sickens me that a flaming liberal judge released five thought to be training children to be school shooters in a New Mexico Islamic training camp. The children were starving, and one threeyear-old boy was found dead. They were released on $20,000 bond each. Really! And last but not least, you've got to question Andrew Cuomo, the current governor of where else but New York. He is currently running for reelection against Cynthia Nixon, a proclaimed socialist, who Cuomo held a 33% lead on. Cuomo is also — or should I say was — thinking about a run against Trump in 2020 before he said, "We're not going to make America great again. It was never that great." Wow! I don't have the words for this one except to say to Brother Chris Cuomo, give him another beer and muzzle him! Leaving you this week with a comment from Chelsea Clinton, her mother's daughter. She said, "Abortion stimulates the economy." Let that sink in! Until next week (which might be shorter, but probably not sweet).

The Shoppers Weekly – Centralia / Salem Area

EAGLE LIFE

Ministries by: Cliff Sanders

The Shepherd’s Psalm (Part 4) David was a humble and faithful shepherd who foretold the coming Messiah’s suffering in graphic detail, portraying his crucifixion and the precise words spoken from the cross. Jesus referred to himself as the Good Shepherd who laid down his life for the sheep. (John 10:11) In Psalm 23, David describes the Lord as his shepherd in poetic language. We’ve seen the shepherd’s personal relationship with his sheep, his supplying of all our needs, his rest, refreshment, healing, guidance, purpose, testing, protection, faithfulness, discipline, hope, anointing, and abundance. As we look at part 4 of the Shepherd’s Psalm, ask yourself, “Is the Lord my Shepherd?” MY CUP RUNS OVER speaks of ABUNDANCE. (Psalm 23:5) Healthy sheep are happy sheep. Sheep thrive under the care of a good shepherd. Have you ever seen sheep dance with joy, with a skip, hop, and jump? Notice that the word abundance has the word dance in it. When David led the procession bringing the stolen Ark

of the Lord back to its rightful place, he danced before the Lord with abandon. His heart overflowed with gladness. David wrote, “Praise him with timbral and dance.” (Psalm 150) The enemy wants to steal your joy and destroy your life. Jesus declared, “The thief comes not but to steal, kill, and destroy, but I have come to give you life and that more abundantly.” (John 10:10) “My cup overflows,” David wrote. The more you give out of your overflow, the more will be given you. (Luke 6:38) Is your cup overflowing with abundant life? Come close to the Good Shepherd. (Isaiah 12:3) SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY WILL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE speaks of BLESSING. The essence of God is love and goodness. When Moses asked to see God, he was hidden in the cleft of a rock and God passed by proclaiming his goodness. (Exodus 33:19) Jesus, the Good Shepherd, laid down his life for his sheep. (John 10:6) The Lord follows his sheep with goodness. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been

called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28) The Lord works for your good. Mercy will follow you all the days of your life. “His mercies are new every morning.” (Lamentations 3:23-24) You cannot exhaust the mercies of God. They are deeper than the sea, wider than the ocean. Goodness and mercy follow you and me. When the Israelites passed through the Red Sea on dry ground and marched toward the promised land, the Holy Spirit revealed this awesome occurrence, “For they all drank of the spiritual rock that followed them and that rock was Christ.” (I Corinthians 10:1-4) Goodness and mercy is the Shepherd who follows his sheep all the days of their lives. AND I WILL DWELL THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOR EVER speaks of ETERNITY. Heaven is real! Forever is a very long, long time. Jesus has a

place in heaven for all his sheep. (John 14:1-5) Through faith in Christ and his work on the cross we receive eternal life. “For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) David begins the Shepherd’s Psalm with, “The Lord is my Shepherd.” He concludes it with, “And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Is the Lord your Shepherd? Only through the Shepherd, Savior, Jesus can you enter the fold of the Good Shepherd. “For as many as received him gave he the power to become sons of God. As many as believed on his name.” (John 1:12) Enjoy the Shepherd’s care and abundant blessings!! Shalom, Cliff Sanders Eagle Life Ministries eagleslife8@gmail.com

ARIES (March 21 to April 19) Impatience with those who don’t keep up with you can cause resistance, which, in turn, can lead to more delays. Best to be helpful and supportive if you want results. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) A surprise announcement from a colleague could put you on the defensive. Gather your facts and respond. You’ll soon find the situation shifting in your favor. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) Time spent away from a project pays off with a new awareness of options you hadn’t considered before. Weigh them carefully before deciding which to choose. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) Consider confronting that personal conflict while there’s still time to work things out. A delay can cause more problems. A longtime colleague might offer to mediate. LEO (July 23 to August 22) Some emerging matters could impede the Lion’s progress in completing an important project. Best advice: Deal with them now, before they can create costly delays. VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) Your aspect continues to favor an expanding vista. This could be a good time to make a career move, and taking an out-of-town job could be a good way to do it. LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) Disruptive family disputes need to be settled so that everyone can

move on. Avoid assuming this burden alone, though. Ask for -- no, demand -- help with this problem. SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) Patience is called for as you await word on an important workplace situation. A personal circumstance, however, could benefit by your taking immediate action. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) Don’t lose confidence in yourself. Those doubters are likely to back off if you demand they show solid proof why they think your ideas won’t work. CAPRICORN (December 22 to January 19) A temporary setback might cause the usually sure-footed Goat some unsettling moments. But keep going. The path ahead gets easier as you move forward. AQUARIUS (January 20 to February 18) There’s welcome news from the workplace. There also could be good news involving a relationship that has long held a special meaning for you. PISCES (February 19 to March 20) You might still need to cut some lingering ties to a situation that no longer has the appeal it once held. In the meantime, you can start to explore other opportunities. BORN THIS WEEK: Your sense of what’s right can inspire others if you remember not to push too hard to make your case. Moderation works best for you. © 2018 King Features Synd., Inc.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 24, 2018 • 7:30 P.M. • EVERs FIELD • CEntralia Centralia High School won last year's game 49 — 19. Pictured on these pages are scenes from past games.

The Shriners Football game is more than just a competitive game between two teams. For the past 65 years, the Centralia Orphans and the Salem Wildcats have come together for the first battle of the football season. But the real battle is behind the scenes at the Shriners Hospital for children in St. Louis. In the past, both teams had the opportunity to tour the hospital, spend time with the children there, and see for themselves the different ways the Shriners Hospital helps the children.

Now, both teams have dinner with the Shriners where the Shriners do a presentation and educate the team members on the positive ways they can help the children. This is what the game is all about, and learning about all this puts a whole new meaning into the game for the players. All proceeds of the Shriners Football game goes to the St. Louis Shriners Hospital to help children in need at no cost to the family. This year marks the 94th Anniversary of the Shriners Hospital For

Children in St. Louis. Come out and support your teams and the Shriners! If you would like to donate to the Shriners or for more information, go to their website at www.shrinershospitalsfor children. org

Centralia Area Historical Society Museum Receives Designation

Cooking With Lizzie

Healthy, Back To School Meals Most of the kids are back to school, and if not they soon will be. With that said, healthy meals are always important, but with the days still warm and schedules filled up with after school activities, you can still pull together easy to prepare, healthy meals the whole family will love. Below are just a few of my family's favorites.

At t he August 13 Centralia City Council meeting, the Centralia Area Historical Museum received a plaque designating

the Museum Building (formerly the Kohl & Meyer Building) as a local landmark building. Centralia Preservation Commission

member Cydney Richardson presented the plaque to Centralia Area Historical Society President Mike Musick.
