has ascended into heaven or descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name and what is his Son’s name, if you know?” (Proverbs 30:4) God has a Son. The prophet Isaiah revealed his name and his arrival to earth by being born of a virgin, “Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:24) His name is Immanuel, which means, “God with us.” What is his name? Isaiah gives these clues to his identity, “For unto us a child is born,
What’s His Name? Throughout antiquity each generation has had its superheroes. In my generation I was mesmerized by the television episodes of the Lone Ranger and Superman. Mankind has always had an innate longing for a superhero to rescue them. Stories of folklore, fables, and fantasy have filled the imagination of man. But the truth was realized when the invisible God, the creator of the universe, sent not a superhero, but a redeemer to the earth, who bore the express image of the Godhead. The Holy Spirit inspired ancient Agur, who penned Proverbs 30 to ask this astounding question, “Who

From Exodus 2, who married the shepherd girl
unto us a Son is given . . . And his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6-7) So far, we have discovered that God has a Son described by various names revealing his identity and his divinity. In the gospels we are introduced to the Son of God by the angel Gabriel, who was dispatched by God to announce his birth through the virgin Mary. “’Don’t be afraid Mary,’ the angel told her, ‘for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a Son and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. And he will reign over Israel forever, his kingdom will never end!” (Luke 1:26-38) What is his Son’s name? How does he impact your life? HE IS JESUS. “And you ANSWERS: 1) Old; 2) Solomon; 3) Gideon; 4) Moses; 5) Hagar; 6) Uz

will name him Jesus.” It was a rather common name among the Jewish people. In the Hebrew it is Joshua or Je s hu a ( Ye s hu a ) meaning Jehovah is salvation. Jesus is found in every book of the Bible, types and foreshadowing, pointing to Jesus Christ as the ultimate redeemer. In his name there is salvation and forgiveness of sins. “You are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20-21) In Jesus’ name there is healing and deliverance. In Jesus’ name prayers are answered. (John 16:23-26) “At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth.” (Philippians 2:6-11) HE IS THE SON OF THE MOST HIGH. The scriptures reveal adamantly and clearly that he is God, the Son of God. “He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High.” (Luke 1:32, 35; Revelation 5:6-14) HE IS THE KING OF
ALL KINGS. He is referred to as the Son of David. (Luke 1:32) He will rule on the throne of David, on Mount Zion, forever. (Luke 1:32-33) “Everlasting God” is a term of deity. HE IS THE HOLY ONE. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit through the virgin Mary. He is totally God and totally man, but he is untainted by sin. All creation worships him, for he is holy. (Luke 1:35; Revelation 5:6-14) Do you need a miracle in your life? The angel Gabriel told the virgin Mary, “For nothing is impossible with God.” (Luke 1:38) “What is his name? What is his Son’s name?” (Proverbs 30:4) His name is Jesus! I saw this powerful quote of Oswald Chambers on Facebook, “When once you have seen Jesus, you can never be the same.”

FALL HOME IMPROVEMENT Special Section
Beat Cabin Fever With Winter Renovations When the weather outside is frightful, homeowners and renters can turn their interior spaces into something delightful. Residents can banish feelings of cabin fever by using time spent inside to make subtle or even substantial improvements to their living areas. Individuals may find that winter is a great time to tackle delayed or unfinished projects or to put plans for major renovations in motion. Homeowners may find that they have some extra time on their
hands when weather and early evening darkness reduces how much time they can spend outdoors. The following projects can help homeowners make the most of their time indoors. • Start painting. One of the easiest ways to transform the look of a room is with a fresh coat of paint. Painting a room or rooms is an inexpensive project that can be completed over the course of a single weekend. Painting in lighter colors can help illuminate dark spaces and make a home feel more
vivid and inviting, especially during the winter. And painting need not be reserved for walls only. Homeowners may want to sand and paint furniture to give items a trendy artsand-crafts feel.
Defining Hardscape And How To Use It Curb appeal is beneficial in various ways. Curb appeal can make a home more attractive to prospective buyers and give existing homeowners a place they want to come home to. In its study of the worth of outdoor remodeling projects, the National Association of Realtors found standard lawn care and overall landscape upgrades were most appealing to buyers, as well as the most likely to add value to a home. Although plants, grass and other items can improve curb appeal, homeowners should not overlook hardscaping. Hardscaping is an industry term that refers to the non-living features of a landscape. These features can include everything from decks to walkways to ornamental boulders. Introducing paths or paver walls to a property helps develop that home’s hardscape. Hardscape and soft elements often work in concert to create inspiring landscape designs. DIY landscape designers
can heed certain tips to make the most of hardscape features on their properties. Choose Materials As with many landscaping projects, homeowners must first determine what types of additions they would like on their properties. Common hardscape features include patios, decks, walkways of pavers or bricks, and retaining walls. Hardscape elements can be functional or simply decorative features that add whimsy to the yard. Choose A Theme The right style allows hardscaping and softscaping materials to work together. For example, homeowners may want to give their yards an eastern feel, complete with a koi pond and decorative bridge or trellis. A formal English garden, however, may include manicured paths with stepping stones and ornate topiaries. Mixing too many styles together can take away from the overall appeal. The pros suggest looking at the overall plan of the design, even if all of the
work can’t be completed at once. This way the eventual finished project wil be cohesive. Think About The Purpose Hardscaping can look good but also serve key purposes. Pebbles or gravel can mitigate trouble areas that don’t grow grass or plant life well. Retaining walls hold back soil in yards with sharply inclined hills. Mulch can set perimeters around trees and shrubs, as well as planting beds. Fencing, another form of hardscaping, is essential for establishing property boundaries and adding privacy. Consult A Professional While many hardscaping additions can be handled by novices, large-scale projects, such as patios and decking, can change the grading of the yard. Professionals can map out how to handle drainage issues and meet building codes. In addition, professional installation can ensure hardscaping features last for years to come.
• Reimagine flooring. Thanks to the bevy of laminate, composite materials and vinyl flooring options, homeowners can engage in do-it-yourself flooring projects to perk up tired interior spaces. Many
“floating” flooring systems are user-friendly and can instantly update spaces. Some systems may not even require adhesives or nails to complete. • Redress the furniture. New furniture can be expensive. For those who are happy with the lines and scale of their current furniture, a facelift may be all that’s needed to give rooms a new look. Slipcovers can make sofas, love seats and chairs look like new or blend with an entirely new color scheme. Slipcovers come in fitted and loose varieties and in many different materials. Other pieces can be updated with throws, new linens or a coat
of paint or stain. • Address drafts and other inefficiencies. Colder temperatures alert homeowners to drafts, leaks and even insect or rodent infiltration. Homeowners can scout out rooms and remedy situations. • Organize the home. Rainy or snowy days are great moments to address organizational issues, such as messy mudrooms or cluttered kitchen cabinets. Get a jump-start on spring cleaning before the warm weather arrives. Time spent indoors can be put to good use by engaging in renovation projects.

Where's the outrage? A school gets shot up, costing the lives of innocent children and teachers, and the left goes crazy! I get it, except they attack the very thing that could save lives, guns! But last week three extremist Muslims were released by a liberal judge. These men were training children to be school shooters in a New Mexico com-
pound, where authorities also found a three-year-old child buried. The alleged reason for the release was not enough evidence was collected within the ten day time frame. It's sad that the extreme left, in my opinion, has turned a blind eye to this situation. Again, where's the outcry? Which leads me to George Washington's farewell address 220 years ago.
The Shoppers Weekly – Mt. Vernon Area words like parties or "factions." Washington meant the union of individuals who desire to rule without consideration for the lasting common good. The public, in other words, tends in two contrary directions. Sound T h e familiar? Without unity, he argued that prosperity and security are impossible. Unity means that citizens must first and foremost consider themselves to be Americans, as opp os ed to members of a party or faction. He also pointed out our passionate attachment to particular parties that distorts our judgment. First, the rule of a party inevitably gives birth to counter parties. Today some of these factions are: socialism; the New York based women's movement; fake news; white supremacists, address was first drafted by Antifa, the attack on indiMadison and later amended viduals (like Sarah Sanders and expanded by Hamilton, and others, not to mention and was printed in nearly the attacks on Donald Trump from Day One); the e ve r y ne w sp ap e r i n destruction of history; gun America and throughout control; and immigration. suggested parties would invite foreign influence. He warned by weakening reverence for one's own nation, parties give influence to ambitious, corrupted or deluded citizens. Today one wonders whether the left would sacrifice American interests for favored people. In the case of the Obama administration, it was the Iranians. What I find most interesting is our founding fathers were wise beyond anything imaginable, and to some degree warned us. What I find incredibly sad is, in my opinion, we are sitting on a time bomb, and the only way I see us coming together as a nation again is through a tragic event. This country stood united during World War II and 911. Why can't we come together today? Just food for thought. On another topic, at this point I've had a number of calls from people who have received a letter telling them how to vote by mail. The concerning issue for those that called and myself is the letter is from the desk of Jessie White, and on the bottom it says "Paid for by JB for Governor." It also directs them to go to an early voting site at ildems. com/voting-in-illinois.
Climbing Wall, Monster Spider Jump, and face painting will all return to the kids zone. For more information about Fall Fest presented by Continental Tire or the Crossroads Community
7 The first thing I did was to verify it was legal, and I was told it was. My concern was also how do you verify the application for a VoteBy-Mail ballot. I was told by the signature. The first thing that crossed my mind at this point was does the County Courthouse have a handwriting expert in house. The answer was, of course, no. In my opinion, this is a great way to encourage voter fraud. Although this may be legal, I find it most unprofessional on Jessie White's and JB's part, and unacceptable. But, it is what it is, below the belt tactics! I do want to point out these troublesome letters are not coming from any local county clerk's office They are coming from the Democratic Party. In closing, the conflict summarized in George Washington's farewell address is one of the permanent problems of a Republic. To comment on this or any column in The Shopper’s Weekly, please mail to: Editor, P.O. Box 1223, Centralia IL 62801, email to info@theshoppersweekly.com or drop it off at the office on 301 E. & Fitness HealthSpecial Section Reap The Benefits Of Physical Therapy Injuries have the potential to sideline people for weeks, months or permanently. Injury to the body can occur when participating in organized sports, fitness regimens or even after being in an accident. Recovering from incidents that can impact mobility and range of motion takes time, but physical therapy can help the body acclimate to regular activity once more. Physical therapy also can help healthy people as well. Those who have suffered a sprain or a broken bone or even spent a duration of time immobile in the hospital due to an illness are often prescribed physical therapy as part of their follow-up treatment. Phys-
ical therapy programs try to progressively increase strength, improve mobility and help the body return to a state where it can function as best as possible. In many cases, a person can regain his or her original capabilities. According to the American Physical Therapy Association, a physical therapist is a trained and licensed medical professional who has the experience to diagnose physical abnormalities, restore physical function and mobility, maintain that function, and promote proper form for future activity. Physical therapy sessions can take place in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, fitness settings, private
practices, and much more. Not only can physical therapists react to and treat an injury, but they can also teach exercises, stretches and techniques to help prevent problems in the first place. Experts at Bay State Physical Therapy indicate that physical therapy extends beyond disabled or injured people. Physical therapists can educate a person on weaknesses in the body and can guide correction on poor body mechanics that cause pain. This way a person can make changes to prevent future pain and injury. Rather than being reactionary, healthy individuals can take a proactive approach to avoiding pain and injury. When one opts for
Prepare Now To Avoid Dry, Cracked Winter Skin Winter weather brings harsh conditions that can wreak havoc on skin. Come winter, winds pick up, temperatures plummet and humidity levels in the air can drop. These factors create a recipe for sapping skin of its natural oils and vibrancy. Even the most well-maintained skin can be impacted by winter air, and the other changes the season brings forth. Taking the initiative ahead of winter's arrival can help people salvage the appearance of their skin. · Start exfoliating. Skin's radiance can be dulled by a buildup of dead skin cells. These cells also can clog follicles, leading to breakouts. Regular exfoliation one to three times per week can assist with the removal of dead skin cells. Ridding the outer layer of skin of unnecessary debris can also help skincare products penetrate more readily.
· Choose a thick moisturizer. It may be necessary to ramp up moisturizing products to combat with dry, winter air. Look for products that contain shea butter, olive oil, jojoba oil, or cocoa butter. They'll help retain moisture and protect the skin against the wind and cold. · Turn down the heat. While it's important to stay warm, bundle up rather than cranking the heat. Avoid especially hot water in the shower as well. Hot water can strip the skin of its natural moisture. Therefore, be sure to take warm showers instead of boiling hot ones. · Wear gloves to protect hands. Frequent hand washing and exposure to cold temperatures can impact the skin on hands. Protect them with warm gloves and generously apply moisturizer. · Run the humidifier. Use a humidifier at night
to keep skin supple and improve the health of nasal passages.
