Sylvia Bandyke Biography: I have a long-time love of photography but only recently had time to pursue it in a devoted way. My approach is to typically keep an eye open for interesting reflections, light patterns, views of a subject. I look for hidden beauty in everyday life that hopefully may inspire others to do so as well. I enjoy using the collage format to integrate associated images into a cohesive unit that is more compelling because of the embedded story; launched this format in five consecutive years of exhibiting in the Grand Rapids, MI ArtPrize event starting in 2014. Since 2018, my first full dedicated year as a photographer, I have been juried into several art exhibitions as noted below: • 23rd and 24th (2018 and 2019) Annual Juried Photography Exhibition of the Dearborn, MI Community Arts Council • Juried Spring 2018 and 2019 Shows of the Artists’ Society of Dearborn (took first place in photography in ’19) • 2018 Pulmonary Hypertension Association International Conference and Scientific Sessions Art Gallery Showcase and Raffle, Orlando, FL • The Muskegon Museum of Art’s 90th (2018) Michigan Regional Exhibition • Crossing Perspective: Finding Similarities of Culture Exhibit at the Dearborn Black Box Gallery, Fall 2018 • 21st (2018) Annual Livonia Exhibition of Fine Arts (MI) • 6x6: Be There, Be Square December 2018 exhibit at the Las Laguna Gallery, Laguna Beach, CA • Iphonography Now juried exhibition of the Plymouth Center for the Arts, Plymouth, MA, January 2019 • Five Points Gallery (Torrington, CT) Small Works Juried Exhibition, February 2019 • Linus Galleries (CA) Fragmented Abstract Art and Blur International Art Calls, Winter 2019 • Scarab Club of Detroit, MI Gilda Snowden 2019 Memorial Exhibition • Vienna Arts Society (Vienna, VA) 50th Anniversary Treasury of Art juired show and sale, April 2019 • Plymouth Center for the Arts’ Fine Art of Photography 9th Annual Competition and Exhibition, Spring 2019.

Elton Burgest Death, 2019 Digital Painting 48 x 60 in $1,000

Elton Burgest Tallahassee, Florida, USA 850-509-2929 elton@artclubclothing.com

Elton Burgest Biography: I am an African American Christian that grew up in the church and grew older in America. As I make art, I find that a person’s reaction to my work is what excites me the most. I like to imagine the impact that the casual poses, religious imagery, and saturated colors that I chose will have upon the viewer. I use African American people as my subjects because I find representation important in art, especially for a group whose history is so deeply rooted in the struggle to feel human. Like artists such as Kehinde Wiley and Kerry James Marshall, I want my work to be a spotlight on the corrupt systems that bind the African American community in our fight for recognition. I usually find myself questioning the logic behind spending hours creating large-scale digital paintings when the process usually puts me in a depressive state. I often come across an article or video in which someone that looks like me; with my nose, my lips, my physique, and my skin is being discriminated against, and I am overcome with deep urges to make change. As I dive into stories of police brutality, racial profiling and harsh sentencing, I notice the curse of being conscious of racism. The curse being that you feel like anything that happens to you is very possibly rooted in racial bias. Like a skittish street cat, a paranoia sets in and I’m convinced that people that I have never met are out to get me. The terrifying thing about living in this country is that it’s safer to be a paranoid black man than one that thinks he’s safe. Ironically, like a police officer, I feel a sense of duty to sacrifice my state of mind to constantly remind people of the importance of justice.

Sara Hupas Szczecin, Zachodniopomorskie, Poland 4-860-248-2901 sara.hupas@gmail.com https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn%3Aaaid%3Ascds%3AUS%3A8296b4 9d-3e75-4a93-a7f6-9df0b8088181

Sara Hupas Biography: Born in 1987 in Prudnik. I graduated from PLSP in Opole. In the years 2007-2010 student of the Opole Art Institute in the field of Art Education in the Field of Fine Arts. She acquired Bachelor’s degree in sculpture under the direction of Prof. Marian Molenda. In 2017 graduated from Cracow Academy of Fine Arts. Diploma in Sculpture Studio IV, conducted by Prof. Józef Murzyn. An annex to the diploma in the Sculpture Workshop in Metal under the direction of Prof. Krzysztof Nitsch and in the Drawing Studio III run by Mrs. Prof. Ewa Janus. Her works have been presented at many group exhibitions in Poland and abroad (including Arte Laguna Prize in Venice, Art Prize CBM in Turin, VI International Triennial of Textiles - Serbia, The 12th International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art “Scythia” - Ukraine). ARTIST STATEMENT I’m interested in shaping of matter through the activities of sculpting, from small forms to monumental realizations. I draw inspiration from phenomena /situation/ and the specific characteristics of matter. I listen to reality and bring up the intricacies contained in it, which I transform into my own language. In the works I have completed so far, I process the collected materials so as to emphasize their properties as well as to refer to their history or previous function / application. In doing this, I am constantly accompanied by a need of ordering and giving meaning to what man has abandoned and treated as waste. I create abstract works containing an emotional element referring to the psyche and human experience. I use materials such as recycled sponge, recycled paper, honeycomb cardboard, agrotextile, jute rope, styrofoam, Bee wax and what will fall into my hands. In addition, an important place in my creative work is foundry in such materials as: bronze, aluminum and cast iron. It is thanks to this process that I am able to preserve or even protect the acquired materials from complete destruction.

Curator Review: Meridians Artist Sara Hupas has created a magnificent three piece sculpture of pure abstract movement in form, color and shape. The effect of this work is immediate and enthralling. From the ornamenting flags, to the lines of gray, black, white and cream, this tactile work transcends its physical form and energetically evolves in the mind of the viewer. -E.E. Jacks

Jamie Johnson Secrets In Purple, 2019 Watercolor And Ink 21 x 17 in $800

Jamie Johnson Gilbert, Arizona, USA 713-320-0561 craddock.jamie@gmail.com Instagram: artbyjamiej

Jamie Johnson Biography: I am a self-taught artist and work with primarily with watercolors and ink; but I am exploring more mixed media work. I don’t want to be constrained by one medium; but let the subject I am painting inspire what medium I use. When I paint, the world around me goes away and I am totally at peace with myself – this is why I paint. I primarily paint people, animals and nature landscapes. I love to look at a photograph of a person and try to interpret and tell their story through my painting. I also want to push the boundaries of what people consider beautiful and show that we all are beautiful in our own light. I have a cabin in the Ozarks Mountains in Arkansas and I love to paint the beauty of the mountains and natural lakes, waterfalls, rivers and streams. I like to explore painting on different surfaces. I have completed many paintings on antique book and dictionary pages and love the aged look they add to the paintings. One thing is for certain, being able to explore my art as a second career has made me appreciate every minute of my journey and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.

Rebecca Katz San Rafael, California, USA 415-302-9895 rebecca@rebeccakatzart.com http://www.rebeccakatzart.com

Rebecca Katz Biography: “I’m enamored with color, texture, atmosphere, depth and the interplay of light. Eyes wide open, I take what I see and explore it in an ever-changing process of visual notation. It’s absolutely my way of staying completely present in the world.” I grew up with a spatula in one hand and a paintbrush in another, among a family of artists and cooks. I received my first watercolors at age 5, when I also observed my mother and grandmother transforming mounds of brilliant vegetables into delicious, comforting soups. I’ve blended the two together, as chef/author of 5 award-winning cookbooks and a mixed media artist. Today, I find making art and cooking creatively are both opportunities to be fully present in life, to pay attention to color, texture and composition. To be inspired by nature. To be so absorbed in tasks that time expands. Working in my kitchen or studio is an immersion experience, in a vibrant, reverent, tactile, visual world.

Jessica Leigh Seal Beach, California, USA 310-309-1974 jessicaleighartist@gmail.com http://www.jessicaleighart.com

Jessica Leigh Biography: I am a Studio Arts graduate of Loyola Marymount University. I am eclectic and my works are versatile. I want to stand out as an artist that is constantly growing and changing in style and substance. My art is a reflection of life. Not necessarily what I believe in my life; however, a reflection of life that I have seen. I believe that we need to avoid the “negativity” of the ego. Of course, we should have good ego strength and be confident that we have something to offer through our art. Release negativity so that we may increase. Forgive so that we can live. With this being said, women are uniting with an empowered voice of choice. We are empowered more than ever to speak our truth. The more I align myself with love and passion, the more I become empowered to be me and connect to a higher creative spirit. I came to believe that when we reach for our own individual light and voice and the messages that we want to convey; we arrive at an authenticity that can be universal. When I entered into the art world with a renewed gusto and decided to speak to my truth unabashedly, I regained my power as a woman, person and an artist. My art is for the viewer so you can create a translation on how it makes you feel.

Curator Review: A Dissociative Moment (III) The stillness of this scene with its subtle tonalities and contrasting light and shadow, is quite striking. Alexander boldly ventilates an atmosphere of disconnection and loss in this work. Melancholic and instinctive in expression, artist LopezGuevara truly reaches outside of traditional lines and into the perspective of the observer. -E.E. Jacks

Claudia Venuto Taranto, Taranto, Italy 320-788-0969 claudia.venuto78@gmail.com https://claudiavenuto.wixsite.com/realtaintrapsichiche

Claudia Venuto Biography: Claudia Venuto was born in Taranto in 1978 and lives and works in Apulia and Tuscany. Her keen interest in art and knowledge of the field were completed by her studies at the Arts Academy in Florence. Venuto’s artistic research work aims at exploring the multidimensional aspect of reality. According to her, this is equivalent to an intrapsychic world in which cultural and behavioural models, symbols and archetypes have collected over time, thereby giving rise to the collective ethical and imaginative heritage into which personal experiences flow. Her works have been on display at several private and collective exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad. Special attention was given to her work at the Premio Arte Mondadori 2007 (Mondadori Art Award 2007). In 2010, she was shortlisted for the Donkey Art Prize and chosen for the exhibition in London. Also in 2010, she was amongst the artists who distinguished themselves at the Premio Combat (Combat Award). She was also selected for the event IncontrArti 2011. Le Proposte del Premio Vasto (IncontrArti 2011. The Vasto Prize Proposals). In 2012 she was awarded a merit recognition at the XXXIV Premio Matteo Olivero (34th Matteo Olivero Prize) and in 2013 she won the 35th edition of the same prize. Some of Venuto’s works can be found in public and private collections and are listed in several catalogues. In 2012 she was commissioned to produce a painting for the Aeronautics Academy of Pozzuoli (Italy). In the same year, her artwork which was part of the exhibition Siamo tutti Greci (We are all Greek), curated by the Director of the Contemporary Greek Art Institute Giulia Demakopoulou at the Benaki Museum in Athens, became a part of the museum’s permanent collection. In 2016, Venuto’s works were on display at the MarTa, the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto, as part of the exhibition Another me, bringing together ancient and contemporary art.

Curator Review: Di Carne E Di Spirito This mindful and moving painting by artist Claudia Venuto, explores a narrative of physicality and the emotive. The delicate composition of varied layers in aged tones gives balance and cohesion to the entire piece. Venuto’s academic style guides her modern interpretation of a portrait and deliberately offers an ephemeral transition from reality into the introspective. -E.E. Jacks
