Luis Ardila luisgermanardila@aol.com ardilaart.com

About My paintings are framed within the traditional symbolism. That means my personal style has been influenced by twentyfirst century syncretism and the school of illuminators and sculptors of the Middle Ages. From ancient times, symbolism has existed as a form of communicating a complex imagery of thoughts and ideas. It is based on matching things that seem to be different in terms of space, time, matter and other defining characteristics, but actually they have equal intrinsic properties and essences so they can be represented by the same symbol.

2nd Place Sebastian Bianco Abracadabra | 2019 Carrara Marble, Brass Inserts and Patinas | 19.6 x 11.8 x 22.8 in POR

Tuscany Italy

Sebastian Bianco artynautas@gmail.com biancosebastian.com

About Bianco was born in Argentina, and after graduating in the National Fine Art School he moved to Patagonia, where he started his career painting and carving wood, then, after a trip full of culture exchanges, sculpture symposiums, and exhibitions around the world, he discovered Pietrasanta, a famous Art town on the feet of the Marble Mountains in Tuscany, Italy, where he set up his studio, non stop learning and producing. His artistic approach plays asymmetric and organic games creating the structure of each piece, with the intention of balancing figurative images with abstract ones, contrast the material against space, textures with soft shapes. The best quality of Carrara marble is used to handmade create each of the unique pieces. His work is found in various private collections around.

Curator Review Abracadabra The elemental influence of this sculpture by artist Sebastian Bianco, is expressed in the sinew of the stone itself. Bianco has condensed the essence of his work into its purest form whilst embracing its innate vitality. From the cresting movement, to the darker textured portions and smooth swells of speckled marble, this liberated piece evokes a sense of strength and unrestraint. -E.E. Jacks

Padova Italy

Mark Cattaneo markcattaneo.9@gmail.com markcattaneo.com

About Mark Cattaneo has an experiential approach based on the direct experimentation of techniques and materials, incorporating them to his own irreplaceable vision, will be a dominant constant throughout his research path. My research is the pleasure to make the relation between the human being and the impalpable dimension which generates chaos clear. In this primordial chaos, where chaos is not synonymous with chaotic, but with this wonderful asymmetrical balance, every choice represents a variation in the wandering of existence and offers new life blood under the form of question marks that become the driving force of life itself. The materials and techniques become languages to talk about the aesthetic and structural, relational and emotional components, in the numerous degrees of conscious.

About My favorite shoes are hiking boots. For years I explored the wildernesses of the Southwest, hiking, backpacking, hang gliding and mountain biking - interacting with our wild places up close and in person. This has profoundly influenced my work. I believe we are incomplete without a connection to, and appreciation of, the natural world, and that we should cherish and protect it. To honor that end, I create impressionist/realism paintings of Southwest landscapes and wildlife in oils, so that my collectors can share in that spiritual relationship. I want to promote deeper respect and connection with our vanishing wild places and the creatures that call them home. Casey studied drawing, painting, and ceramics at CSUF California, and has been influenced by current artists like Bill Cramer

Her work focuses on still life and portraiture and currently lives Wilmington, North Carolina.

Curator Review Sometimes She’s Mute This singular portrait by artist Amy Gibson, reflects her abilities to penetrate the complex human disposition. The light in her tonal painting absolutely glows and a solemnity and underlying strain of reserve, adds depth to the shadows. A beautiful equity between the sober mood, rich color and overall feeling, has most certainly been achieved here. -E.E. Jacks

About I’ve always loved to draw, even the smell of my uncle’s colored pencils inspired me to major in architecture - since art was not an option in the little city where I was raised in Brazil. I graduated and worked as an architect where I used my art as a way of expression for my projects and ideas. It also became my way of thinking. In 2015, I decided to dedicate myself to my art and had the opportunity to develop techniques and skills through inspiring courses around figure painting, plein air oil painting, experimental art… and especially by working with great artists from South Carolina, Georgia, France and more recently by being part of the very rich artistic community of the Tampa Bay area.

About My passion for flowers comes from my childhood…My mother often used to bring me different flowers from our garden, so I had fun by playing with them and by admiring of their beauty. Having taken colored pencils at a very young age, the first thing I have drawn was a flower. I draw my artistic inspiration from travelling. A lot of amazing subjects often make me literally “hunt” with the camera. The main idea of my art is to transfer the emotion of happiness and love to our nature as well. My passion for photography, especially for capturing in macro format has had an impact on the way I show some particular flower. In my paintings I pay attention to the elegant and delicate close up of flower petals. For more juiciness I use the technique of palette knife painting.

About Primary and secondary research become important factors throughout my practice. Usually, this corresponds with patterns, activity and traits throughout our contemporary world. These will often link to themes regarding our environment, and the ever-contrasting imbalance between our natural and man-made world. However, regarding more recent works, the research aspect of my practice leans toward asking the ‘larger questions’ about our so-called-familiar world. ‘Time’ is a theme in which I have shown great interest. Within my current practice, I bring together conceptual, biological, mathematical and hypothetical-based research, and through the means of a body of 2D and 3D artwork, depict how our current understanding of time is something that can forever be brought into question.

About Most biographies include where one has studied, what shows they have participated in, special recognitions and accolades. My own biography has been full of the above mentioned references; however, there comes a time in one’s life when all this seems not so important when one considers where one is right now. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift; that’s why they call it the present.” For certainly all my past experiences as an artist, partner, mother and grandmother have made me the artist I am now.

China

Zhongfang Zhang 3344407@163.com akazhangdesign.com

About Art has defined my life ever since I was little. Creating art has brought me great pleasure; moreover, it gives me even more happiness when other people appreciate my artwork. Having immersed myself in ILL. for years, traditional 2D graphic painting doesn’t satisfy me anymore, ever since I decided that I prefer to represent my feelings from real life. I hungered to create touchable real 3D artwork. Metal arts in Summer 2016. Since changing my major, I have slowly transformed my 2D illustration thinking into a 3D jewelry design mindset. For instance I like to shape and solder metals and practice stone setting, using laser cutting and 3D modeling to make jewelry. Even more, I enjoy the time I spend creating art with my classmates in the school studio. In the future, I intend to open me. Photographer: Luyang Tian

Curator Review A Thousand Eyes No.1 The design and style of this highly imaginative and precise work, is both energetic and visually connective. Artist Zhongfang Zhang has created an edgy yet reflective piece that bends the boundaries of composition and expression. In Zhang’s rounded metal elements, swirls of color and interpretive vision of lenses, perhaps the subject can see through the metaphysical, beyond two eyes and into ‘A Thousand…’. -E.E. Jacks
