Leadership Camping Trip ■ Sunshine showdown ■ The regional camping retreat took place on March 23-25th. There were over 50 attendees. It was an event filled with activities, competitions, regional bonding and lots of fun! The region would like to thank and recognize the University of Central Florida, the University of Florida, the Florida the State University, University of North Florida, Santa Fe College, and the University of South Florida for participating. After a full day of communication, team building, and leadership activities, the University of Florida took home the Sunshine Showdown ChampionSHPE cup! We look forward to seeing you this weekend in Atlanta and wish you an very successful end of your semester. Con la Region 7, Nadie se Mete!
Regional Awards University of Central Florida Chapter of the Month
The University of Central Florida has gone above and beyond the rest to reach its fullest potential. They had the initiative to organize the regional camping trip which was very successful. They also became the winners of the first March Madness championship and surpassed their all-time membership high; SHPE-UCF is stronger than ever. The diversity, quality, and unified members have made SHPE-UCF a unique SHPE familia that stands out everywhere they go. Outstanding job knights! Keep up the good work..
Isabel Ceron Leader of the Month Isabel is currently majoring in Software Engineering at the Southern Polytechnic State University and is the president of SPSU-SHPE. Thanks to Isabel’s efforts, SHPE-SPSU has grown by over 300% in the past months, reaching it’s all time membership high. During the past weeks, Isabel also led SPSU to the SHPE March Madness competition finals. Thanks Isabel for your remarkable leadership, keep up the great work!
Aaron Iglesias Member of the Month Aaron is currently a freshmen majoring in chemical engineering at the University of Florida. He joined SHPE less than two months ago and has already stood out among other members by coordinating the first March Madness competition in the history of region 7. Aaron did an outstanding job organizing the competition which led into a massive membership increase of 125+ members. Thanks Aaron for all your efforts, region 7 is very lucky to have you.

March Madness Competition The first regional March Madness Competition took place March 19-30th with 16 participant chapters and over 125 members recruited during the competition! ACE Mini-Grants due April 15 National Institute for Leadership Advancement (NILA), August 1-5, Denver, Colorado. Registration opens May 14 SHPE Conference: November 14-18th, Ft. Worth, Texas. Registration opens July 1, 2012
Corporate Readiness Program at NILA NILA 2012 will feature leadership competencies. Phase I of the program assist student chapter executive board members in transitioning into early-career professionals and it is to be completed in NILA 2012. Phase II is completed at the 2012 SHPE National conference and will receive a certification of completion and discounted conference registration.
