Shophouses were built in support of the urban planning grid, long streets were found with shophouse rows lining the roads. They are usually two to three stories high with ground floor generally open to public access. There is a connected walkway alond the front of each row of shophouses which serve as the shelters for pedestrians and provide waste disposal services. LAND USE
