THE SONG

CONCEPT

The idea of Secret 7” is to design artwork for a song without using any type that would reveal the songs identity. People then purchase the records based on the artwork - without knowing what song it is. Proceeds from this go to charity.

The song I designed artwork for was Grounds for Divorce by Elbow. The song’s themes include going to the pub to deal with a relationship breaking up.

The recurring visual theme I have used for this brief is a silhouette of a falling wedding ring. This directly relates to the general content of the song.

P R O M O T I O N A L M AT E R I A L The promotional material for the hyopthetical tour would further capitalise on the silhouette of the falling ring. Tour merchandise will all have a silhouette of the ring at different points through it’s fall.
