Loss of connectivity with the nature. How is farming education inculcated in the proposed urban farm kindergarten?
Site Selection - Nashik, Maharashtra
Based on the philosophy that a more sustainable world begins at school, the proposed campus is an urban farm and educational institution wrapped into one. The design re-imagines the concept of ‘school’ as a place that embraces the innate curiosity of children. The proposed design is a series of indoor and outdoor learning environments around a central courtyard. The different areas of the school are thought of as “neighborhoods” and are connected by a “Wonder Path” that unites the school’s indoor and outdoor environments, learning stations.
Nashik, is one of the cities in India contributing the most in the field of Agriculture. It is also known as the Grape Capital of India. The city is developing at a large scale, keeping the nature around it unaffected. The site selected is such that, it is situated in the amidst of the rural and urban areas of the city. The urban areas shall play as an inspiration for the design, while making an attempt to develop the rural areas and enhance the importance of the farmlands in the vicinity.

Evolution Of The Form
The idea is to create a self learning free - flowing, nurturing Garden for the children. The design started with a one single curve depicting a nurturing hand.
Day Care Centre
The form evolved after addressing the connectivity between different spaces and establishing a natural integration between the built and unbuilt spaces.

The site is sensitive to the village. It has farmlands on one half of the site where there is a lot of cattle population. Our approach is to use the cowdung produced by the cattle for biogas and their day long activities for kinetic energy for our project itself.
