Blinova T., Kudryavtsev A. (2000). Environmentalist of the XXI century: in memory of Lev Blinov. Tomsk, Russia: Vodoley. 120pp. Kudryavtsev A.: “This book is published in memory of my friend Lev Blinov who passed away at the age of 20 in a car accident in 1999. He was an exceptionally enthusiastic, hard-working, strategic and charismatic environmental leader who founded an environmental NGO in Tomsk, Siberia, Russia. Lev conducted dozens of environmental conservation and research projects. His projects included field studies of endangered birds in Siberian taiga, preventing illegal hunting in nature reserves, organizing tree planting in the city of Tomsk, conducting environmental monitoring around a nuclear plant, publishing newspaper and research articles on nature conservation, conducting environmental protests, and organizing non-formal environmental education events – often in collaboration with other local, national, and foreign organizations. Lev’s work has inspired dozens of other young environmentalists, and greatly contributed to revitalizing university students’ environmental movement in Russia.
