Introduction to the Memory Booklet:

This memory booklet is a unique tribute to Taimak Jerome Saunders, lovingly known as TJ. It’s crafted as a script to reflect his deep connection to storytelling and the performing arts. For those unfamiliar with this format, think of it as a conversation—a dialogue between TJ and the Father, exploring his life, his impact, and the legacy he leaves behind. This approach honors TJ’s love for the stage while guiding you through his spiritual journey. As you read, imagine it unfolding as a play, with TJ’s story told in the way he most loved: through the art of performance.

OBITUARY

On a beautiful sunny day circa September 15, 1993, loud cries pierced the air as Michelle and Gregory Saunders welcomed a beautiful baby boy on the island of New Providence, The Bahamas. They named him Taimak Jerome Saunders, affectionately called T.J. His earliest childhood adventures began with tree climbing, rock skipping, and premium WWE smackdowns with his younger brother, Keanu Saunders.

His educational journey began at Dandelions Preschool, and he proved to be an exceptional student from then. From there, Taimak went on to Gerald Cash Primary School, then onto S.C. McPherson Junior High, and closed out his high school career at C.V. Bethel Senior High in 2010. During his high school career, Taimak completed Theory of Music 1 and 2 with the School of Cambridge. Taimak was considered an exemplary student, serving as a prefect at each institution.

During this time, Taimak also made the most important decision of his life: accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In doing so, Taimak joined the Student Christian Movement, where he served as the Intercessor and Assistant Director of Evangelism. His love for Christ was evident in everything he undertook. After graduating from high school in 2010, Taimak pursued a degree in English at the College of the Bahamas.

With a passion for service, Taimak was deeply involved in various ministries at the former Word of Life Kingdom Ministries Church, including the intercessory team, youth ministry, drama ministry, evangelism ministry, and sound ministry. His love for service and creativity flourished as he became an asset to his community. He was involved in local

initiatives such as judo classes for inner-city youth, acting classes for young aspiring actors at the Bahamas Artist Movement (BAM), and even found time to assist his aunt with hospital visits at Princess Margaret Hospital.

In 2014, Taimak discovered his passion for acting and began pursuing it seriously, seeking training to hone his craft. He met Rowena Sutherland, the Founder of Bahamas Artist Movement, where he began mentorship under her tutelage. Through BAM, he learned theatre and film business management, taught acting techniques, and mastered specialties like the Stanislavski System, Viola Spolin, Meisner, Uta Hagen, and Susan Batson Technique. Taimak eventually became the head acting coach at BAM, coordinating masterclasses and international events such as The Dream Project featuring Danny Glover, in partnership with Los Angeles Studio School, The Island House Film Festival Acting Program, Lyford Cay Acting Program, and the Kids Club at Fusion Superplex.

In 2017, Studio School in Los Angeles was so impressed with Taimak’s talent and work ethic that he was offered a talent-based scholarship to attend their campus. Taimak was part of award-winning teams with Goombay Kids, receiving over 15 international awards, including special honors at the Cannes Film Festival and recognition by the Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

In 2018, Taimak was accepted into Studio School in Los Angeles, California, where he began his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting [Film+Television] degree program in 2019. During this time, Taimak expanded his knowledge in videography, scriptwriting, acting, editing, and directing. With this newfound knowledge, he returned to The Bahamas, intent on putting his skills to use. He resumed his work with BAM, serving as a mentor and teacher for the BAM Kids Club, and also worked as the Assistant Director for the award-winning international show Goombay Kids.

Taimak was a diverse individual who worked in many industries, including construction, real estate, religious organizations, and government organizations. He was a Certified Graphic Artist and also worked as an Assistant Special Projects Director, Summer Camp Leader at Theater Camp, and Karate and Judo Instructor. He developed a passion for photography and created the company Sage Photography.

He had a love for the arts and starred in many different plays, such as “The Shack,” “Unmarried at Christmas,” “Golgotha,” “Da People Dem Court,” and “Jingle Bell Jitney” from JNG Productions. He was also featured in “The Easter Story” with NPCC, “Jonathan’s World: The Wonders of the Unseen Realm,” “From Whence We Came and Beyond,” “Memoirs of Five Bahamian Men,” and “A Merry Regiment of Women.” He was also on “The Fergusons,” a Christmas TV Series under The Division of Cultural Affairs through the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture. Behind the scenes, Taimak was a playwrighter and assisted with writing plays such as “Da People Dem Court,” “Faith Under Fire,” “Hope’s Wasteland,” and “Shackled Up.” One of his most recent projects was “Haven (The Series),” where he co-wrote Episode 6.

In 2020, Taimak became a member of Toastmasters Visionary Club #7548881. He served as the Vice President of Public Relations and as a Production Editor of District 47’s Timely Tidbits Newscast. In 2022, Taimak joined the Roots of Change, a gift-giving program, and accompanied them to Cat Island, Bahamas, to distribute gifts to children. In July 2023, Taimak became a mentor for young boys in the Mirror Mirror Mentorship program.

On July 19, 2024, Taimak was tragically taken from his family and friends. Despite this devastating loss, the family of T.J. finds great comfort in knowing that he is in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

TJ: Father, look, it’s 10:00 am. The church is filled with all my friends, the atmosphere. The presence of God is so rich in the sanctuary. Is all of this for me?

The Father: Yes, my son. All those people love you and they came to celebrate your life. You were a very important fella and you did some wonderful things while you were on earth. You will get to hear what a great impact you made in so many people’s lives and in my Kingdom. Look, it’s about to begin.

THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN: “I’M GLAD I COUNTED THE COST”

PROCESSION LED BY: The Mother’s Board, Licensed Ministers, Ordained Elders & Pastors

When first I started to seek the Lord, I’m glad I counted the cost; I fully measured to Jesus’ Word; I’m glad I counted the cost.

(Chorus)

I’ve paid the price and obtained the prize, He saved my soul that was lost; And now my treasures are in the skies, I’m glad I counted the cost.

I laid my sorrows at Jesus’ feet, I’m glad I counted the cost; And now I’ve pleasures so pure and sweet, I’m glad I counted the cost.

I’ve bid farewell to this world of sin, I’m glad I counted the cost; And now my Jesus abides within, I’m glad I counted the cost.

I cast on Jesus my every care, I’m glad I counted the cost; And all my burdens He helps to bear, I’m glad I counted the cost.

’Twill not be long till the Lord shall come, I’m glad I counted the cost; And bear my soul to that heav’nly home, I’m glad I counted the cost.

TJ: Wow, Father. Listen to the congregation singing one of my favorite hymns of the faith. I’m glad I counted the cost.

The Father: You’ve paid the price and obtained the prize son! Now you get to spend eternity with me.

THE PROCESSIONAL WILL CONCLUDE WITH: Presiding Minister, Senior Pastor, The Casket

Oh what singing, Oh what shouting

On that happy morning, when we all shall rise

Oh what glory, hallelujah?

When we meet our blessed Saviour in the skies.

Seems that now I almost see all the sainted dead Raising for that jubilee, that is just ahead

In the twinkling of an eye, changed with them to be All the living saints to fly to that jubilee

When with all the heavenly host, we’ll begin to sing, Singing in the Holy Ghost how the heav’ns ring Millions there will join the song, with them we shall be Praising Christ thru ages long, Heaven’s jubilee.

INVOCATION: Minister Tanya Duncombe

TJ: I am going to miss Minister Tanya. She was one of my mentors you know. She was very instrumental in teaching me how to lead in intercession.

The Father: Are you asking me if I know she was a mentor to you TJ? You do know I’m God, right? I drew you two together for that very purpose.

PRAYER RESPONSE: “My Jesus I love Thee” sung reverently

My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine; For Thee all the follies of sin I resign; My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou; If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I love Thee because Thou hast first loved me, And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree; I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow; If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death, And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath; And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow, If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

In mansions of glory and endless delight, I’ll ever adore Thee in heaven so bright; I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow, If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

IT’S ALRIGHT NOW

There was a time I travelled a lonely sinful road; Beneath a heavy burden bending low; But now all things are different, since Jesus took my load

It’s alright now, I’m His I know.

(Chorus)

It’s alright now, for I am in my Saviour’s care

It’s alright now; my Saviour hears and answers prayer He’ll walk with me, (He’ll walk beside me)

Till I climb the heavenly stair, And everything (And everything is alright now)

A’ down a lonely pathway, without a friend to guide, I walked in sin and sorrow all alone

‘Till Jesus came and found me, and drew me to His side; It’s alright now, for I’m His own.

No more in sin I wander, no more in darkness roam

The Lord has placed my feet on higher ground; Each day new heights I’m gaining, my soul is nearing home, It’s alright now, I’m heaven bound.

Casket is lowered.

REMARKS - Funeral Home Representative

Funeral home representative gives remarks on behalf of the family

BENEDICTION

Minister gives the benediction to conclude the committal service.

HYMN OF DEPARTURE: “When We All Get To Heaven”

All sing the hymn together as they greet and console each other.

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace. In the mansions bright and blessèd He’ll prepare for us a place.

(Chorus)

When we all get to Heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory!

While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky; But when travelling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh.

Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving every day; Just one glimpse of Him in glory Will the toils of life repay.

Onward to the prize before us!

Soon His beauty we’ll behold; Soon the pearly gates will open; We shall tread the streets of gold.

IT IS FINISHED

There’s a line that is drawn through the ages

On that line stands an old rugged cross

On that cross, a battle is raging

To gain a man’s soul or it’s loss

(Chorus)

It is finished, the battle is over; it is finished, there’ll be no more war It is finished, the end of the conflict; it is finished and Jesus is Lord

On one side, march the forces of evil

All the demons, all the devils of hell

On the other, the angels of glory And they meet on Golgotha’s hill

The earth shakes with the force of the conflict

And the sun refuses to shine

For there hangs God’s son, in the balance And then through the darkness he cries

Oh, but then I heard the king of the ages Had fought all the battles for me And that victory was mine for the claiming And now praise his name, I am free.

FARTHER ALONG

Tempted and tried, we’re oft made to wonder Why it should be thus all the day long, While there are others living about us, Never molested, though in the wrong.

(Chorus)

Farther along we’ll know all about it, Farther along we’ll understand why; Cheer up my brother, live in the sunshine, We’ll understand it all by and by.

When death has come and taken our loved ones, It leaves our home so lonely and drear, Then do we wonder why others prosper Living so wicked year after year.

Faithful til death, said our loving Master

A few more days to labor and wait, Toils of the road will then seem as nothing As we sweep through the beautiful gate.

When we see Jesus, coming in glory, When He comes from His home in the sky, Then we shall meet Him in that bright mansion, We’ll understand it all by and by.

MOTHER’S TRIBUTE

Tribute to My King God is faithful, He gives us what we need, not what we want. As I reflected and sat down to write this tribute to you, I must say first and foremost that God has blessed me with two kings, Taimak and Keanu Jerome Saunders. I never would have imagined that I would be burying my son but God does all things well. As I mourn, I do so with hope. I’m reminded of the Proverbs 19:21, ‘Many are the plans in a man’s heart but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.’ There were so many times in our lives, especially when Keanu would have to go out to sea that it was only me and you. I remember the jokes, laughs, the sound advice and the talks all too well. I Remember you and I came to the conclusion that we’d always listen to Keanu advice but in the end it was just us going through the storms of life. My son, I trusted and believed so much in the God in you and to date I stand as a proud mother. I’m proud of the fact that 2 Corinthians 5:8 states ‘To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord’ is my belief in relation to your demise. The wisdom that you had could only have come from the personal relationship you had with the Father. I am forever grateful that Psalms 68:5-6 says ‘A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families,’ is real to us. You said at one point that the enemy plays 3D chess but

God is always 4 steps ahead. I was so fortunate to be your mother, so many revelations as we studied the Bible together. I watched you struggle with pain so intense but still you pushed, you fasted, you prayed and you fought for your relationship with God. Since your passing, I need you to know that everything you prophesied has come to pass. I know sometimes you struggled to believe the gift that God put in you, but you had it for real. In the weeks leading up to your death, you shared much more but I now see that you were speaking in parables. After the 20 days of prayer and fasting, I watched a complete spiritual transformation. I saw the glory on your face. I saw the excitement in your eyes. I witnessed personally that God was with you. Your final scripture was Luke 12:4-10 ‘I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you fear him.’ You left a legacy at home. You showed us by example to have 1 day of rest, to forge our own personal relationship, to have faith, to trust God and to surrender. My King, every day I continue to serve God with all I have, in hopes of seeing you again. I love you beyond words. As the guards have changed, you’ve now passed the baton onto my 2nd King as we both grow in faith, power, abundance, wisdom and love. Selah (Your words) You once said you had to leave to be

a blessing to me. I thought you meant go back to school and ya know, do your thing. But Taimak, you were a blessing from the day you were born. Because of you, my life will never be the same! You were more than my son; you were God’s everything to ME! To my son Taimak, today I salute you, job well done, job well done!

PAPA’S TRIBUTE

A thousand words won’t bring you back, I know because I’ve tried. Neither will a thousand years, I know because I’ve cried. Be at peace in the palm of the Father’s hand. I loved you when you were in time, now you are in eternity. See you there someday. Love you “Makitae”, from Papa

BROTHER’S TRIBUTE

I can only be me and if you know me, you know everything’s a joke. Tj wasn’t always the bright fella most of y’all know now. What y’all see is 20 plus years of elbow grease, me polishing both him and mum up to make them the dynamic individuals y’all see today.

Don’t worry I’ll be shaking hands and handing out business cards after the service, I can turn your life around too. Seeing us move in a room, most people would say that I Was the older brother, probably because of my size (y’all don’t laugh at that part) or demeanor. We were night and day, but with us roles were never confusing. As I reminisce, I can say that Tj laid the foundation for the man I am today and I owe it to him to say thank you.

You showed me how to deal with bullies, we encountered our first one at such a tender age. She was taller than us then, but God has given us the victory! Thank you for teaching me work ethic, all the nights we spent repairing speakers and setting the system all to do it again in a few hours.

AUNTIE P’S TRIBUTE

Dear Tj,

During our time together working in Ministry, we did street meetings, hospital, prison, outreach, and evangelism ministry. Despite this heavy load, you were always ready to serve whenever you were called upon to create a graphic design or go on an assignment. I know there were many days you may have been tired but you did it. I remember one particular time we did hospital Ministry and you prayed with an elderly gentleman. You rested your hand on his head and after you were done he was moved to tears because he said he felt so much better. He asked us to never forget to visit him whenever we return to the hospital. By the time we did go back the next week he was discharged. I bet you didn’t know where you were walking in your purpose but in hindsight, it is evident that your steps were ordered by the Lord. You were always willing and able to do anything to please the Lord, which is why He has chosen to take you to be with Him. Your life and sacrifice is like a sweet smelling savor as unto the Lord. The enemy thought he won through your death but all he did was cause more souls to come to know the Lord. The enemy has lost again. Rest on my son until we meet again. I will miss your hugs. I am so proud of the young man you have become and I am proud to know you are apart of my family. I love you Tj with all my heart.❤

Love,

Aunty P

GRANDMOTHER’S TRIBUTE

To my Grandson Taimak, Tj I will miss you dearly, your kind smile and your warm personality. Good brought us together in a special way by sharing the same birthday. On September 15th I will hold your picture and say to my Grandson I love you, but Jesus loves you more. I take comfort knowing that you are with the God you love and served. May the angels escort you into the presence of God. Rest in peace and rise in glory.

FAMILY TRIBUTES

Breann

Growing up, whenever I saw TJ, one thing I could always say was that he always had a smile on his face and always had a joke to crack. He was the kind of person to make light of any situation, even if he had perfect reason to be down. His infectious positivity paired with his sarcasm made being in his presence an utter delight. My cousin was a pure soul, gone far too soon and will be dearly missed. The only solace during this time of pain is knowing that TJ strove to have a relationship with God, so we can look forward to seeing him again one day in the next life. We love and miss you TJ, always.

Brittany

My dearest Taimak,

To have lost you as suddenly as we have seemed unreal. Our lives were always intertwined, and I always considered you and I to be the closest in personality. The last conversation you and I shared jumped from US politics to the biblical perspectives as I called you a “Prophet of God” in which you proceeded to tell me, “Watch your mouth!”. You, my mother, and I shared one last prayer where we covered you. Who would have imagined that would have been one of our last moments spent with you. Your transition is a shock to us all, but amid your leaving the Holy Spirit reminded of a scripture in Isaiah 57:1-2 which declares “The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.” You have found your rest, and though it may be hard, we must learn to continue without you. Once more I quote 1 Corinthians 15:5455 [...the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”. You have overcome and been raised in your spiritual body with Christ. I will miss your wise words, your sound advice, your constant jokes – I will miss you cuzzo.

TJ, I never expected this to happen to you out of all things; this is very shocking and I am still in disbelief. For you to pass away so soon and so young. The last time I saw you was June 29, 2024 . You always supported my Mommy and I. I hope to see you on the other side one day. Rest In Peace cousin.

We were born days apart, you on the 15th and me on the 24th so it’s no wonder we were so close. From Primary school straight to High School, it was you, me and Keanu. Growing up, of course we had our disagreements but as time progressed you became one of my closest friends. You were creative and an inspiration to many. I’ve watched you play characters in plays and for every time I was proud. I was proud of every project you worked on and every life you impacted. I would often call you Hollywood because you were a mini celebrity. However, your most inspiring moment to me was watching you pray. Each time you opened your mouth, it was like thunder from heaven and I considered you a mighty man of God and prayer. I’ll miss our talks, the jokes and the wisdom you shared. To my cousin, one I could call on for anything at any time, Kai’s personal photographer, a mighty

man of God, I’ll miss you so much and I love you! While my heart aches for the way you were taken from us; I find comfort in the scripture Job 37:5, ‘God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.’

When I was a little boy, I remember that me and my brother loved to go by our Auntie Shell.

When we would often go to visit, it would be like a big cousin reunion. As a young boy, my big cousin Taimak would always be the life/joy of the party.

He was a very kind hearted person and extremely Helpful. Whenever I would see or talk to him,he would often mention his class of students and what they would make for him to try at their sessions; or he would speak about church and his recent activities.

Taimak was a very kind, genuine and loving person. So now I say to Taimak, you will always live in our hearts and minds.

Taimak, from when we were youngsters he always has been humble, talented, passionate & creative. I admired and learned so many things from him, from such a young age just by being present at Aunty Shells house each weekend. I could remember how I would attempt to stay up late at night playing video games with him & Keanu or trying to watch his favorite anime series and for every time we would fall asleep, we would wake up and he still would be at it.

He was very smart, great at problem solving, caring and always believed in fairness amongst us all no matter what our issues were, he made a way for peace. A person like Taimak is rare to find, I’ll always miss and love you cuz. Sleep in peace Tai.
