Jason’s STORY 5.17.94 - 7.5.21
E
veryone knows that kid ... You know, the one from the neighborhood that had all the latest toys, the hype birthday parties, and the cool clothes. Jason was that kid! He was his parents, first child, and only son, can you say love? The fun-loving spirit he was known for was the result of his cherished upbringing. As a toddler, Jason was fascinated with airplanes, and going to the airport to pick up his mother from work helped to fuel his passion. Watching airplanes take off and land while he waited for her shift to end became his favorite thing to do. Few people discover their purpose and passion at an early age but Jason was one of the few, he knew he wanted to be a pilot. He researched schools and requirements and knew just what he needed to make his dream come through. Because of his research, he didn’t plan to sit the BGCSE, because he didn’t think it was necessary, but Unay insisted, and at the last minute with no time to study he took 7 and passed with 6 A’s and 1B. He was a good student effortlessly and the class clown, making people laugh was a big part of who he was. That one time in high school when he won the science fair was how the nickname “Jah Science” came about. For a while, he was DJ Jah Science playing at parties and community events with his cousin Jermaine “ Crash Crew Dj’s”. He was multi-talented, on the track he ran the quarter mile, in baseball he pitched, and like his dad, he was a Junkanooer. “Big J” was a free dancer, and “Lil J” would either be waving the biggest Valley Boy flag or repairing costumes with his knapsack on his back. Junkanoo was their thing, and they were Valley Boys all the way. In life, you do what you have to, until you can do what you want to. Being multi-talented and adventurous
Jason did it all, his saying was “I don’t do jobs, I do careers.” He knew he wanted to fly but until it happened, he used every gift and talent to help him achieve his goal. Right out of high school he was on an episode of BTC Star Maker that resulted in a part-time job at BTC, while taking private flight lessons to get his feet wet. Pretty soon he was in a full-time position as a phone technician. He enlisted in the Royal Bahamas Defense Force hoping for an opportunity to further his aspiration of becoming a pilot. When the opportunity did not materialize, he resigned. Being the navigator that he was Jason enrolled at Fanshawe University in London Ontario (Private Pilot Licence Courses) to pursue his flying carrer. In an effort to support and further his studies, Jason returned home and found an interest in the sea, running private charters and excursions to Exuma and in short order he earned his boating license. Even though Jason was no longer a member of the RBDF in the aftermath hurricane Dorian he went to help with the relief efforts on Abaco. Jason had a big personality and was full of life. His personality was on full display on the “blue app” and it was comedic genius because he had a gift of finding humor in everything. He had many interests and hobbies, for one he loved to travel, and liked sharing his experiences on his social media platforms. Then, there was his spinning club, Allen Luck that had many followers, he was well dressed and enjoyed going to parties, he was just a fun-loving guy. But even amid what we call living life tragedy can finds us. On March 30th, 2020, Jason suffered a staggering loss, his beloved father. This was a devastating blow because of their bond of mutual love and respect. In the face of tragedy it’s hard to comprehend but sunshine always
follow the rain and on January 11th, 2021, for the first time Jason held his ray of sunlight. In welcoming Jai Allen to the world, he stepped into the role of his lifetime. He was beyond happy and was hoping he could be for Jai what his daddy was to him. But God had written another ending to their story. The focus of their story wasnever about the ending, it was always about love since true love doesn’t have a happy ending because true love never ends. Programme
Some glad morning when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away; To a home on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away). (Chorus) I’ll fly away, Oh Glory I’ll fly away; (in the morning) When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away). When the shadows of this life have gone, I’ll fly away; Like a bird from prison bars has flown, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away) Just a few more weary days and then, I’ll fly away; To a land where joy shall never end, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away) Old Testament Scripture | Psalm 90:1-12 | Ms. Cleotisa McKenzie As I Knew Him | Mr. Ricardo Mason Condolences | Sgt. Hymn | ”It Is Well” When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul. (Chorus) It is well, it is well, With my soul, with my soul, It is well; it is well, with my soul. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, let this blest assurance control that Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll; the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend Even so, it is well with my soul
Tributes
you were that person in my life, that one that I could have an entire conversation with from across the room, without saying a word “talking with our eyes...(lol)” I always admired how gifted you were, there was very little you couldn’t do once you set your mind to it. I miss our talks. hearing your thoughts and your plans and hopes for the future. I know how much Jai meant to you and all you wanted to do with and for him. There is so much about you that I have locked away in my heart. Watching you navigate the different seasons of your life has been one of the biggest joys of my life.
MY BELOVED SON
T
he day I found out I was pregnant with you; I knew you were going to be special. My first response was to pray and ask God to protect you while growing in my womb and to give me everything I would need to fulfill my role as a new mother, the journey was scary but an exciting one. Then, it happened, May 17th, 1994, at 9:24 PM, your dad and I welcomed our beautiful baby boy, “Proud Parents” were our new names. Love, joy, and excitement were what you brought to our lives. Watching you grow was such an adventure because you always marched to the sound of your very own beat and that was exactly what your dad and I always laugh about. I remember at one of your birthday parties, while all the kids were outside playing on the bouncing castle etc... looking for you to cut your cake, there you were in the room playing video games (lol) while your party was going on outside. Jay,
Just like I did when you arrived in this world my prayer remains the same at your departure, that God would equip me for the journey of living as a mother without you. While I may never understand God’s plan, I do understand you’ve served your purpose, my precious son. The tears, grief, and “oh the pain” of losing you Jay, has not been easy and am not sure if it ever will be. However, because of the fun, silly, intelligent, extremely talented, hilarious, adventurous, phenomenal person you were “ my renaissance guy” and never will I forget your million-dollar smile. The memories of you will FOREVER AND ALWAYS be in MY HEART. ~Live like you are going to die tomorrow and learn like you will live forever~ Mahatma Ghandi. Love, Mummy
Y
ou didn’t give me a last farewell, Nor ever said good-bye. You were gone before I knew it, and only God knows why. A million times I will cry. If love alone could save you, You never would have died. In life I loved you dearly. In death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place, no one else can fill. It broke my heart to lose you, but you didn’t go alone, for part of me went with you, the day God took you home. I I will meet you again someday. I know in a better place. I thank God He made you my brother While you were here on earth. -Love, Des

Memories
MY SON Such a simple word, is dad One syllable, three letters I do not think that makes it bad In fact, I think it makes it better An easy word for kids to say To remember and repeat to wish love to say the end of the day Before a kiss and a drift off to sleep I don’t know what it is to say goodbye but, I will miss the twinkle in your eyes.
