“I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.” - Helen Lowrie Marshall The life of Patrick Henderson Clarke, son of the late Mary Louise Clarke and Leroy Frederick Clarke, began on October 24, 1960. He attended S.C. McPherson and A.F. Adderley Senior High. Patrick was self-driven, task-oriented, well-organized, and very numerate. From the tender age of fourteen, Patrick, being the independent person he was, began working at the Nassau International Airport selling peanuts. Later, he worked at the former Maura Lumber Yard and Nassau Bicycle Company. He later mastered the trade of tiling and started his own business, P. C. Tile Layers and Construction. Patrick perfected everything he did and his work spoke for itself. In April of 1986, Patrick met the love of his life Maryann Higgs and they united in Holy matrimony on June 27, 1987. This union was blessed with two exceptional daughters. Patrick was always focused on working hard and providing for his family because his motto was “I want what’s best for my girls”. Patrick was a kind and devoted friend/ uncle who loved people and exhibited a unique sense of humor with a vibrant personality that would light up a room. Once he stepped in, his personality was so welcoming and accommodating to everyone that he came into contact with regardless of their relation to him. Patrick was the “chef ” in the family. Everything he made was tasty, not because he knew how to cook but because he made everything with love. Patrick travelled to many places and met so many persons that started as friends

and later turned into family. Patrick wasn’t shy when it came to the kitchen. Wherever he went, he made himself comfortable and went immediately to the kitchen and made a meal for everyone. Patrick had a giving heart. He was the one anyone could call on if they needed assistance with anything. He lived by “doing good without expecting something in return” because he loved helping others. Patrick’s love for his family was immeasurable. His love was pure, his love was genuine, his love was unmatched and he loved Bella and Toby (the family cat and the family dog) just as much. Patrick lived a life of selflessness. He didn’t seek reward financially, nor reward in material things or in his professional accomplishments, but rather the reward of a man who leaves this earth knowing that he did his best, consistently and persistently, to make this world a better place for those around him. He provided great solace to those who loved him. The greatest reward Patrick gave to his daughters was his example and his words backed up by his actions. He was truly an example of how to live your life with integrity and dignity. May his soul rest in eternal peace. By baptism into his death we were buried together with him, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live a new life. For if we have been united with him by likeness to his death so shall we be united with him by likeness to his resurrection.

ENTRANCE HYMN | “Amazing Grace” (First two verses) Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found, Was blind, but now I see. T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear The hour I first believed. Celebrant: On the day of his baptism, Patrick Henderson put on Christ. In the day of Christ’s coming, may he be clothed with glory. People:

Amen

ENTRANCE HYMN | “Amazing Grace” (Last two verses) Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess within the veil, A life of joy and peace. People:

Yes! We believe that Jesus is the Anointed One, the Son of God, He who is to come into the world.

Celebrant: We must work the works of him who sent me, while it is the day; Night comes when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. Celebrant: People:

HYMN | “Farther Along” Tempted and tried, we’re oft made to wonder Why it should be thus all the day long, While there are others living about us, Never molested, though in the wrong. (Chorus) Farther along we’ll know all about it, Farther along we’ll understand why; Cheer up my brother, live in the sunshine, We’ll understand it all by and by.

Faithful til death, said our loving Master A few more days to labor and wait, Toils of the road will then seem as nothing As we sweep through the beautiful gate. When we see Jesus, coming in glory, When He comes from His home in the sky, Then we shall meet Him in that bright mansion, We’ll understand it all by and by.

When death has come and taken our loved ones, It leaves our home so lonely and drear, Then do we wonder why others prosper Living so wicked year after year. FINAL COMMENDATION Celebrant: Let us pray: RECESSIONAL HYM | “Eastern Gate” I will meet you in the morning, Just inside the Eastern Gate. Then be ready, faithful pilgrim, Lest with you it be too late.

Keep your lamps all trimmed and burning; For the Bridegroom watch and wait. He’ll be with us at the meeting Just inside the Eastern Gate.

(Chorus) I will meet you in the morning; I will meet you in the morning Just inside the Eastern Gate over there. I will meet you in the morning, I will meet you in the morning, I will meet you in the morning over there.

O the joys of that glad meeting With the saints who for us wait! What a blessed, happy meeting Just inside the Eastern Gate!

If you hasten off to glory, Linger near the Eastern Gate, For I’m coming in the morning; So you’ll not have long to wait.

To My Beloved Husband PC, as I’ve grown older I came to realize that it’s not what I have, But who I have in my life. PC, you were not only my husband, you were my shield, my everything, you were a provider, an awesome Father, an exceptional Uncle and Friend. You gave me everything I ever needed. The bond that we shared could never be broken. How do I say goodbye to what we had, the good times outweigh the bad I thought we’d be together forever, but forever’s gone away I don’t know where this road leads, all I know is where we’ve been and what we’ve been through And even though you didn’t get to see tomorrow, I hope it’s worth all the wait But I’ll keep with me all the memories, To be my sunshine after the rain It’s so hard to say Goodbye to you My Love Rest In Eternal Peace Love Always, MAC

TO MY PAPA Daddy the bond we shared was far more than a paternal one. It was the type of bond where, we cooked together no matter where I was in the world, we traveled together, we celebrated together, we ate together as a family, we did so much together that I can’t think of a time when you weren’t by my side. We were the definition of a father-daughter relationship, you were my best-friend. From childhood to adulthood, I watched you, I watched everything you did. You taught me what a family is, you showed me the importance the role of a father plays and how pivotal it is for a father to be in the lives of his children, you showed me how a husband should take care of his wife, you showed me how to love unapologetically. Daddy I love you so much that I never wanted to lose you. I love you so much I never imagined life without you. I was so over-protective of you, no matter where I was, I wanted to know where you were going, when will you return, who was with you and I wanted you to call me when you arrive your destination and when you returned home. I knew you sometimes thought, “Petty just being nosey” but “no” I love and care about you so much I didn’t want to share you with the world. I wanted to be the one to always see you smile and be around you and your vibrant personality. Daddy your absence makes my entire world seem so empty, no words can explain the sadness in the depth of my soul. All I have left are the good memories to dwell on and the lessons you have instilled in me. Daddy you broke my heart, you really broke my heart, but how do I let go of someone I love so much. We would always say to one another after each conversation we had “ See You Later” because goodbyes’ meant that you wouldn’t see the person again. Take Your Eternal Rest Papa, your memories will be everlasting and my love for you will never end. I love you forever papa. See You Later. “Petty” -A daughter may outgrow your lap, but she will never outgrow your heart” Unknown

To My Earthly King Daddy I don’t even know where to begin. Words can’t even express what I’m feeling. It hurts so much to know that you’re gone because all my life it’s always been Mommy and Daddy. You left us so sudden with so many questions, tears and heartache, but I know you’re in a safe place now. I’ll always remember all the good times we shared from you picking me up from primary school straight to high school and always having a meal to share when you got me. No matter what, you were always there. I will always cherish moments like this because these are the things a father does for his children. Whatever you had to do to provide for your family you did that,by being the hard-working, caring, loving, strong, thriving man that you were. You were our ‘Provider’ and we were always grateful for that. I will miss our family vacation trips, our beach outings, fathers day dinner, grocery store shopping, your wonderful cooking and every other family outings we had together. It won’t ever be the same daddy, but I can surely say that everything you wanted to do in life you did, and you enjoyed every moment. You always lived life with no regrets and were always brave. You were loved by so many because of the kind hearted loving person you were. Always willing to help or give to someone in need. You did everything with the goodness and kindness of you heart. You left behind a lot of memories for us to hold onto. I’m surely going to miss calling you from work, to check up on you to see how your day is going and to ask if you ate. I’m going to miss ending our phone conversations with ‘I love you’. Thank you for all that you’ve taught me. Thank you for being an Amazing Father to me. Thank you for all the good laughs, jokes, fun times you’ve shared with us. Most importantly I thank God for lending us such an Amazing Man like you. To have a ‘Gem’ like you in our life was truly a BLESSING! I love you so much! You won’t ever be forgotten daddy, thats impossible. So until we meet again my Earthly King, please take your eternal rest. Love always, Your precious daughter Shante’

How do I begin to saying goodbye When I’m waken up every morning still thinking it’s a lie I awake every morning to start a new day but the reality of losing you now goes away My head hurts, my heart aches, you left me without a single trace, that I would never again see your face If I pick up my phone to call you at home the only thing I will hear is, you forget Your Uncle is gone. If I can only see your face one more time, for your to ensure me that everything will be fine, who do I call now to fix the broken things in my home, when you’ve left me so sudden all alone. This tension I’m feeling with this heartache and pain, Lord I need you now and always to keep me covered and sane. Uncle I miss you so much. no one knows how I feel, it’s hurting so deep down inside to accept it’s all real. Memories will never be forgotten or be erased, I LOVE YOU UNCLE. MAY YOU GO WITH GOD’S GRACE. Your Neice, Sherelle
