Obituary On Monday, 6th October 1969, in the bustling island of Nassau, New Providence, a healthy bouncing baby boy was born to the parentage of Mabel and Clifton Rolle at the Princess Margaret Hospital. Having previously delivered three (3) sets of twins consecutively, Mabel was relieved that this baby came solo, and he would be the last of ten (10) children. “Brian”, “Big-O”, “Biggy”, as he was affectionately called, was a man whose physical stature belied the humble spirit he possessed. Byran was barely 1-year-old when his father passed away, leaving his mother to take on the role of both father and mother to her ten children. He grew up surrounded by the love and attention showered on him by his siblings. He was confident that no matter the situation in life, his faith in God, and the support and love of family will always be that driving force to persevere. Byran was not one to have a lot of friends; his ‘zone’ was in being surrounded, and having access to audio and visual technologies. Always with a warm contagious smile, and a positive attitude, Byran never let anything damper his demeanour. His life reflected the truth that “a merry heart doeth good like medicine.” After graduating from R.M. Bailey Senior High school in 1987, Byran was gainfully employed as a Security Officer with Migrafill Security Services. In 1990, he was called to serve on a higher platform as an officer of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, a profession in which he served his country with dignity and excellence. Most of his professional career was spent stationed on various Family Islands where he was deployed for over twenty (20) years: Andros, Exuma and Acklins. During the prime of his life, Byran underwent a facial surgery to remove a small lump from his neck. Unfortunately, following the surgery, the wound was not healing. Byran later sought additional consultation which warranted another surgery. He went to the United States for an assessment where it was discovered that he had Nasopharyngeal Sarcoma. After a series of Radiation and Chemotherapy was performed and completed, other complications developed and Byran’s health began to decline. Despite the rough path of his sojourn, Byran never once complained throughout this period in his life. He relied on the strength and endurance that came from his Creator. Whenever he was asked how he was feeling, despite his physical ill health, he would always answer with a strong voice, “I am well, and doing fine!” After developing a bone infection to the face in 2017, Byran agreed to have surgery to remove the damaged bone at a U.S facility. Many days leading up to the surgery, Byran spoke with anticipation and excitement of complete healing to his body. “God said this is the final surgery, and after this surgery, I will be a new man. God promised me a new, healed, body!” After undergoing a final surgery on July 24th 2018, Byran was airlifted back to Nassau where he was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital on September 26th 2018. His family members had planned to spend a full day to celebrate Byran‘s birthday with him on Saturday October 6th; but his creator and manufacturer had a different plan. What better time to present the gift of healing, then on his birthday. “God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able
to bear.” At 3:32 a.m, Saturday October 6th, 2018, Byran was called from this world, into eternity. “For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.” Romans 14:8 Predeceased by his loving parents, Mabel and Clifton Rolle, and nephew; Lynden Rolle, his survivors include: Sisters: Veronica Miller, Rosalind Strapp and Thelma J. An Undefeated Champion of the Faith A Fighter A Man of few words but very wise When he opens his mouth, Oh what a surprise.
