Obituary

As an individual that exudes humility, Mother Theresa constantly performed selfless acts towards mankind regardless of one’s social status. Samuel “Tony” Evans, born on 12 April, 1959, fashioned his life’s journey imitating the legacy of Mother Theresa. Tony was always a loved child and brought joy and laughter to everyone in his family. His parents the late Samuel Evans and Mable “Gold” Rolle ensured that he obtained a good education.

Tony spent a part of his childhood growing up in Andros with his Uncle Jonathan Rolle. He enjoyed his youth spending many hours fishing. He loved the outdoors, and his early childhood dream was to become a medical doctor. His mother purchased him numerous medical books, for which he read daily. He later moved to N assau and graduated from the R. M. Bailey High School in June 1977. Tony would often talk about his childhood living in a two-bedroom home with his mother and five siblings in his beloved Quintine Alley.

After seeing the hurt that his mother experienced not being able to purchase her own home alone, due to her advanced age, he made the selfless decision to put his childhood dream aside and join the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. This was to ensure that he would be able to stand with his mother for her to purchase her very own home.

Tony being the oldest son living with her at that time ensured that he was the man of the house and made sure everyone was well taken care of. Later in life, he would often tell his stories about his humble beginnings. There were times when he would have to go to the Red Cross to request food for his family to eat.

Tony was intrigued with the life of a Marine; therefore, he enlisted into the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) in January 1979. At the time, the Defence Force was a very young but vibrant Military Force. He served as a Marine Recruit, reaching the rate of an Acting Petty Officer in April 1986 before being selected to attend the

Officer Training School at Britain Royal Naval College April 1986. Upon graduating from the Officer’s Training School, he was promoted to the rank of Sub Lieutenant.

August to October 1986, he attended Greenwich Staff College. Upon returning to the Bahamas, he continued his career as a Sea-Going Officer in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. As Tony elevated through the Ranks, He held various positions onboard the Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ships (HMBS); including commanding officer aboard HMBS INAGUA, HMBS AUSTIN SMITH, HMBS FORT FINCASTLE, HMBS YELLOW ELDER and eventually, ending the sea-going part of his career as Commanding Officer HMBS NASSAU at the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Serving as a Rating and an Officer, he held the following shore billets within the Royal Bahamas Defence Force: Squadron Commanding Officer, Base Executive Officer, Commander Operations, Senior Staff Officer attached to Headquarters, Assistant Captain Coral Harbour (ACCH) Acting CCH, and Deputy Commander Defence Force (Retired).

Tony has participated in many Courses and Seminars both domestic and international, that helped in his career as an ideal Military Senior Officer. The Officers Training at BRNC and Greenwich Staff College, a twenty-six (26) weeks Watch Keeping Course at the

Canadian Coast Guard College, a Search and Rescue Course at the United States Coast Guard College, York Town, Virginia, a Patrol Craft Command Course at United States Coast Guard, New London Connecticut, the Staff School at United States War College, New Port Rhode Island, the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Garmisch Germany, and the 9th Seminar of senior Defence officials, held at the National Defence University of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Domestically, Tony attended Management Orientation Programme II at the Public Service Training Center, and the Essentials of Supervision in the Public Service Center for Human Resource Development. He also successfully completed all RBDF Qualifying Courses for Advancement & Promotion, including the Boarding Officers Courses I & II instructed by the United States Coast Guard’s personal.

On a larger scale, Tony completed a variety of courses, as follows: the Emergencies and Disaster Seminar, at the Inter- American Defence College, Washington D.C, The Centre for Civil-Military Relations (CCMR) Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey California and Responses to Maritime Violence, Belize City, Belize. The Port Authority Seminar, Trinidad and Tobago, a Fisheries Seminar, Saint Lucia, a Ministry of Defence Conference, Costa Rica, a Tradewinds Planning Conference, Jamaica, a Tradewinds Exercise, Dominican Republic,

and the Delimitation Meeting/Bilateral Talks held in Cuba. Practical Sea Training has also allowed him the opportunity to work with the Coast of the English Islands of Guernsey and Jersey, the Canadian Islands of the New Foundland, Cape Breton Nova Scotia and the Entire Northeastern Coast of the United States of America.

Tony functioned as the Commanding Officer in various Operational Exercises that were conducted throughout the Bahamian archipelago, such as exercises with Regional Partners in Dominican Republic, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Turks and Caicos Islands and the Southeastern Coast of the United States

running of the Squadron Department. Other duties included planning and drafting Operation plans, liaising with Regional partners regarding Joint Operations and exercises, mentoring Officers and Senior enlisted in the Squadron Department and ensuring that the operational part of the Organization’s mandate was carried out.

The four (4) senior officer level appointments Tony held were Squadron Commanding Officer (SCO), Base Executive Officer (BXO), Commander Operations (COPS), and Assistant Captain Coral Harbour (ACCH) Acting CCH, and Deputy Commander Defence Force (Retired).

As the Squadron Commanding Officer, his primary duties were to be accountable to the Command for the safe and efficient

His duties as the Commander Operations were basically the same as the Squadron Commanding Officer with the addition of acting as the Branch Commander of all Operations Departments, such as; Squadron, Airwing, Military Police, Engineering and Commando Squadron. The Coordination of all Operations Sections was his primary duty as the Commander Operations. Specifically, those duties included overseeing large Joint Operations with other Bahamian Law Enforcement Agencies, also Joint Operations within the Organization, and Joint Operations with Regional Partners.

Tony also served as the Base Executive Officer, his duties mainly included day to day Operations of the Administrative Departments within the Organization, comprising of the Administration, Supply, Training, Satellite Bases, and the Band Department. In addition to coordinating the efforts of the Administrative Section of the Organization, he was responsible for ensuring that discipline was maintained throughout the Force. While serving in this capacity he was the only Senior Officer appointed by statue to preside over all disciplinary matters via Summary Trials. As the Base Executive Officer, he acted as a Human Resource Officer for the entire Force with the exception of the Headquarters Staff.

Tony also served as the Assistant Captain of Coral Harbour. His main duty was to assist The Commanding Officer of the entire Organization and in his absence acted in that capacity. His duties were as follows: draft policies on behalf of the Commander Defence Force, liaise with other Organization Heads, also ensure that the mandate is executed and that the Government’s National plan, as it relates to National security is adhered to.

Having spent the last fifteen (15) years of his military career as a Senior Officer in the RBDF, Tony’s leadership skills developed to the point of excellence. He was always performing while on the job and being elevated as a leader. He later received a degree in public administration which he believed was key in widening his horizon and assisting him in becoming a more effective Military Officer. He had a passion for education and would always encourage his loved ones to pursue higher education.

Tony met the love of life Margo “Ginger” Wilkinson in 1985. In 1990 the couple was united in holy matrimony. He was a happily married man. He was blessed with four (4) influential adult children: Tonice, Antoine, Ashley and Jade. His interests and hobbies were jogging, playing American Pool, checkers, reading his bible and other good books, and caring for his canine family (Dancer and Blue). He called himself a Nationalist, whose goal was to be the best Military Officer that mentors and inspires the youth of our nation.

Tony was a family man, he loved his entire family immensely and would do anything when called on. He loved the children of his family in particular and made a special effort to show them love and give them special attention. His mother the late Mable Gold Rolle was his first love, he enjoyed her company and was

blessed to be able to love on her to a ripe old age until she slipped away in 2012. Tony lived a full life but was heartbroken in 2012 when his Mother died. Her last words to him was “Tony for God’s sake make it to heaven.” It was after this life-changing event that he made it his practice every night before going to bed to read his bible and pray to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

On Monday May 15th, 2023, at Doctor’s hospital without any warning, Samuel Tony “Buck” Evans fell asleep in Jesus.

CONGREGATIONAL HYMN | “Farther Along”

Tempted and tried, we’re oft made to wonder Why it should be thus all the day long; While there are others living about us, Never molested, though in the wrong.

(Chorus)

Farther along we’ll know more about it, Farther along we’ll understand why; Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine, We’ll understand it all by and by

When death has come and taken our loved ones It leaves our home so lonely and drear, Then do we wonder why others prosper Living so wicked year after year

“Faithful ‘til death,” saith our loving Master; A few more days to labour and wait; Toils of the road will then seem as nothing, As we sweep thru the beautiful gate.

GRAVESIDE HYMNS

City of Gold

There’s a city of light

Where there cometh no night

Tis a city of beauty untold; All my treasures are there And its beauty I’ll share When I get to that city of gold

(Chorus)

When I leave all trouble and care I will say good morning up there; I will have great gladness untold; When I get to that city of gold

There’s no sorrow up there. In that city so fair And no sickness can enter I’m told. Shadows all will have flown. I will meet friends I’ve known. When we get to that city of gold

Won’t you go there with me

To the home of the free

Would you see heaven’s beauty unfold?

If you will, come along, We will sing heaven’s song, When we get to that city of gold.

It Is Finished.

There’s a line that’s been drawn through the ages. On the line stands the old rugged cross On the cross a battle is raging For the gain of man’s soul or his loss

(Chorus)

It is finished, the battle is over It is finished, there’ll be no more war. It is finished, the end of the conflict. It is finished and Jesus is Lord

On one side march the forces of evil

All the demons and devils of hell On the other the angels of glory And they meet on Golgotha’s hill.

The earth shakes with force of the conflict. And the sun refuses to shine. For their hangs God’s Son in the balance And then through the darkness He cries.

PAPA TONY

we love you and miss you so very much. Thank you for being our Papa!

Love always your grandchildren – Jamarion, Tennille, Kayvon, Alaina, Aria

DADDY

I am so glad you gave your heart to Jesus. I will see you again. Love always and forever.

Your Heartbeat Jade

“If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane. We would walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again. No farewell words were spoken, no time to say “Goodbye”.

You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why. Our heart still aches with sadness, and secret tears still flow. What it meant to love you - No one can ever know. But now we know you want us to mourn for you no more; To remember all the happy times life still has much in store. Since you will never be forgotten, we pledge to you today~ A hollowed place within our hearts is where you will always stay.” You gave us all you had to give, and it was enough. Take your rest dad, we love you

Love always your Children: Ashley, Antoine, and Tonice

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also, there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

(Revelation 21:1-5) Tony we your family love your dearly, but we know the Jesus loves you best. Sleep on our father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. We will meet you in the morning.

Love always Albertha Wilkinson and the entire family.

Through the eyes of a child! Just like a child’s eyes lit with excitement upon hearing an ice-cream truck through a corner, my eyes lit with excitement upon hearing my Godfather’s truck approaching. Overwhelmed with joy, I would begin jumping up and down while screaming “Godfather! Godfather!”. As soon as the truck came to a stop and the door opened, I would leap into his arms, and he would give me the biggest hug in the world. He would sit and chat with me and promise me the world. One promise that stood out was that he was coming back to take me to McDonald’s. I would start teasing all my siblings and cousins that my Godfather was coming to take me to McDonald’s. Forty-two years later and I am still waiting on my McDonald’s. Lol. Every visit was the same cycle until I grew to understand that it was his way for me to allow him to leave. My Godfather was “my” Godfather. In the words of Mom Ginger, “only me had Godfather.” I would get angry at my cousins for calling him Godfather, why, because he was my Godfather, my one and only. As an adult when passing Prince Charles or seeing his truck on the road, my eyes would still light up as those of a child as I scream out “Godfather!” My Godfather meant the world to me. He often encouraged me to be greater, to further my education, to get my home. He also encouraged me and told me how proud he was of the way I raised my children and the way I supported them both. He was so proud of them. He called me “Super Mom.” When my Godfather took ill, I felt like my world was crumbling. How could this strong, charismatic, resilient, amiable, intelligent, versatile, healthy, God-fearing man fall to this hopeless position being unable to fight back? For the first time, I screamed and said “Godfather” and got no response. I knew he was leaving me, but I had a hard time accepting it. But I do accept the fact that he left with peace that surpasses all understanding. Godfather, your voice will live on in my ear because of the memories and videos (lol) you left. I will always remember you through the eyes of a child because you were always that same person through my eyes as an adult. I love you forever!

Your one and “only” Godchild Xaviera Roach

It’s a different feeling when a loved one passes and there’s no I wish I did, or I wish I said or I wish I called more etc. I’m so happy you loved us all out loud. I might’ve been too big for your lap, but I’m happy I never was “too grown” for the hugs and kisses. Never too proud for the I love you too, no matter the audience.

I’m still in disbelief that you’re gone. You will be missed beyond measure Uncle. Rest in eternal peace.

Love, Iesha

Daddyo, there are no words to express. what you mean to me You were a father figure, A mentor, and protector, which you did not have to be. You were the realist, strongest individual. With the biggest, caring heart thank you for your words of wisdom and the knowledge you willingly impart. Though we may not have been related by blood, the love you have shown was more than anyone could. I will treasure the memories and lessons. Trying not to be sad because I was so blessed to have you fill that role, as my dad.

Love Always, Samantha

Ithought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday. and the days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which I will never part. God has you in His arms, I have you in my heart.

Iwrite this tribute to the “Old Man” as I affectionately called him. Tony Samuel Evans, an Officer and a Gentleman, a humble down-to-earth person. During the course of your mother’s life, I watched you shower her with love and attention. Your interaction with her was one to be admired. It was, therefore, no surprise throughout the years, to watch you spoil your girls; Jade was called the “finest,” and Ginger was affectionately called “lil boungie. “...lol. You welcomed both Asia and me into your home with open arms, as Asia became your “Princess,” and I became your “B.B.B.” We shared many fun filled days with you playing on your guitar, singing Country music, or just watching music videos. Those were good times. When it was time for me to venture out on my own, you were there every step of the way; physically you were there helping with the construction, financially you were there when I fell a little short on cash. Tony, you were my go-to person. When I needed a mechanic, carpenter, or a banker (lol), you were there. YOU NEVER TOLD ME NO. I hold such fond memories of you, as you would send me videos daily; whether you were singing, repairing a roof or just showing me your “bachelor” meal, your wife prepared for you (lol) it was never a dull moment being around you. Tony, I never looked at you as my brother-in-law. You were my brother. One whom I loved dearly. As the song says, “it’s so hard to say goodbye.” Take your rest, my Tony. Your memories will forever live in our hearts.

Love always Robynn your “BBB”

Love always Charlotte Ahwah

To my uncle Tony, the man who allowed me and my mother to live in his home for 17 years, the man who taught me how to ride a bike, the man who would have me sitting in the barbershop waiting on him whiles he is getting his hair cut. The man who had me in tears when it came to teaching me my math’s. The man who never cared what I did he just know my mother or aunty ginger better not hit or make “the princess” cry. NO was ever in your vocabulary when it came to me, as I listen to everybody tell their stories about you flaming them, I only could laugh because I cannot relate. You had me spoiled and would give me everything I asked for and more. Jade thought she had you wrapped around her fingers, little did she know you were wrapped tight around mine. You saw me through my first year in college but oh how I wish you were here to see me walk across the stage and see my career take off. When you used to go out to sea I would always say “Uncle Tony, you are leaving me again,” and you would always reassure me that you would be back in a few months, I stood by your hospital bed saying “Uncle Tony you leaving me again” but this time you weren’t able to reassure me that you would be back in a few months. Uncle Tony, I cannot believe I am writing something like this for you right now. My heart is truly broken, I am angry and hurt that I no longer have the opportunity to create memories with you, but I’m entirely grateful and will forever cherish the memories that we have. I would just like to say that I LOVE YOU more than anything and I appreciate everything you have done for me, blood could not have made us any closer. I thank you for the important part you played in raising me and I thank you for being the best father figure I could have ever asked for!

Love Your Baby Asia

Many years as a young Woman Marine, I met the great Captain Samuel “Buck” Evans. I had gotten into some trouble and had fallen by the wayside; he instantly took me under his wing and like a true Captain steered me in the right direction. I immediately called him my “Dad” and He called me his “Daughter. I am immensely proud to be adopted into his family. I had many opportunities to work and sail with him, it wasn’t easy, but he was doing what he had to do and needed to do. Many days during those times of life filled with sorrow and grief, I would call him to talk to him. No matter what time day or night it was never too late to call him. Dad was never too busy to assist me, give me an encouraging word, or give me sound life advice. I was always comforted by him. My Dad was a no-nonsense type of person, a loving but strict disciplinarian. I always wondered why he was so strict on me, But as I grew on the job, and got older while moving up in the ranks, I realized it was because he was like a father to me. He just wanted the best for me and for me to work hard for what I wanted. I could go on forever and a day talking about my dad and the wonderful work he did for me and many others but time would not permit. Thank you, Captain Samuel Tony ‘Buck” Evans, for being My Boss, My friend and my dad. Thank you for being the dad I never had. Thank you for scolding me, while motivating me to work hard to succeed. Thank you Never giving up on me. I love you “ Dad”, From Now until Eternity, Sleep on Captain. Until we meet again. Your loving Daughter, Shan tell

Dear Brother, I know you are gone, but I still want you to know that I think of you every day and miss you in my life. You were the best brother anyone could ever have. You’re my hero forever, I just wanted to tell you that I love you with all my heart, even though you can’t see or hear me. We are grateful to God for your life and legacy. Your example of reading your bible and praying every day will be our practice. We will meet again when we walk the streets of Gold and worship Jesus Christ in Spirit and in Truth.

We love you, your siblings: Edward, Freddie, Eric, Anna, Elizabeth, Olive, Gladys, Estella, Lorina

Iam so thankful that I had the opportunity to sail and work in your office. You always brought joy and told me that in whatever you do, you must love it. You laughed at everything lol. You had this signature laugh and face gesture at the end of every conversation and Carla would ask; “Chryshann what you think wrong with him?” I would laugh so hard. Also, In working closely with you, I learned how to make coffee and if it wasn’t made right, I would meet it right where I rest it untouched lol. From the first time Carla sent me to pick up your lunch, I never forgot that order Wendy’s #1 no pickles, no onions lol. You had these specifics, but you made me realize that simplicity is great. Even though you were stern in your ways, you were a great person who always listened and gave great advice. You became my go to person, and I am so thankful for you being there for me always. You never turned your back on me. There are so many times that I can recall but I will save them for a greater purpose. Captain Evans, this is a tough one, but you were truly loved and will always be remembered. I love you, Papa. Your Daughter Chryshann.

Tony, when I think about what I would say to you if you were standing here, there are so many things that come to mind: I would say you were the best brother I could have ever asked for.

I would say thank you for being there for me when I went through a broken marriage. I would say thank you for reassuring me that there was nothing wrong with me when I wanted to give up.

I would say thank you for giving me away to my now husband, the love of my life.

I would say thank you for always giving hope when things sometimes seem hopeless, you always came with a smile, a laugh and last a link below to click.

I would say thank you for stepping up to the plate. I watched as my mother sat down so broken; she could not get a house because she was too old. I thank you for setting aside your dream of being a doctor. That day, the boy became a man. You made the promise to our mother, “don’t cry mother, when I finish school, I will join the Defence force and will sign for you to get your house.” Thank you, Tony, that day you became not only little brother but my mother little man. I would like to say thank you, little brother, for giving me a sister and a friend, you have done it again. Lastly, I would say thank you for giving Jesus, your life. I know now that this is not goodbye. We will meet again. So long little brother, I love you. Your Sister, Gracie

My beloved brother Tony, Strong, loving and dependable are just some of the many wonderful adjectives that come to mind when I think of you. Your determination to do all that you set out in your heart and mind to do was undeniable, and inspiring to so many, especially to me. Although you were my younger brother, in so many ways you felt like an older brother to me. You have been there to mark some of the most special moments in my life, one of which was walking me down the aisle as a young bride. Your guidance and words of wisdom, even from a young age, care and concern for me, never went unnoticed. I could call on you at any time and regardless of what was happening, you somehow managed to make all the parts of your schedule fit together just right so that you could show up for me. You were a strong pillar in our family, a driving force that helped to keep us bonded together in love and unity. There are so many memories that flood my mind when I think about you, but your character is what impresses me most, and it is the one thing we will always cherish as a family. More than all the accolades you achieved, more than all the places you have seen, more than all the things you have done — to us you are TONY: Tenacious, Outgoing, Noble, Youthful. Joshua 1:9 commands us to be strong and courageous, not to be afraid and not to be discouraged, because the Lord is with us wherever we go. My brother, truly the Lord was with you during your life’s journey. He walked with you and he talked with you. He set you apart and allowed you to far exceed the expectations of many. To some that may know the paths you’ve crossed on your journey to greatness, you may not have been the brightest, nor the most preferred, but your life is a testament that when God chooses you, no man can deny you; and when God blesses you, no man can curse you. Your memory lives on in our hearts. Our great warrior, defender of his family, loving, kind and affectionate, brilliant mind. I love you, my beloved brother Tony!

Tony, you treated me like you were a husband to me. Every time I called you, you would not hesitate to drop what you were doing and come to me. When you built my shed, you said it was so big that I needed to make it into an apartment so that I could get an income from it. I asked you how much you would charge to build the shed. You said Frankie, “you’re my sister, I can’t charge you anything, just give me something to take ginger to a nice restaurant.” Every time I needed something you were my go-to person, roof leaking, plumbing, help around the yard, all I had to do was make one call to you and you were there instantly. I love you and I will miss you forever. My heart is broken. I must make it to heaven if only just to see you smile again. I’m going to miss calling you to come for your Sunday dinner. Don’t worry my sweet little brother, we will meet on that glad reunion day. Sleep peacefully my beloved brother. Love always your Sister Frankie

Atribute to my brother Tony Evans. Where else can you go to find a brother like Tony Evans? In a time of trouble and among other things, you were there. So soon you went back home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. Your big brother Philip loves you and will always miss you. See you some day in heaven.

To my brother. You give no one a last farewell, or even said goodbye. You left us so unexpectantly, it is heartbreaking and a shock, but I won’t question God why. A million times I will miss you, and a million times I will cry. In life we all love you dearly but in death we love you still. We will meet again someday pension baby #2. I thank God, he made you my brother while you were here on earth. Love you always your baby brother John

Your Big Brother, Philip L. Rolle

CAPTAIN SAMUEL “TONY” EVANS

Thank God for your exemplary life, you set a high bar and attained it. Younger members of your family will always remember your example of ambition, courage, and determination. We are proud of your service to the people of The Bahamas. Your family will hold on to the blessed hope that we will rejoice and praise God together in the new earth.

Your uncle, Dr. Joseph Evans, M.D.

LEADER. MENTOR. TEACHER.

All of these are words that describe you. You were a great source of inspiration and motivation for me to forge on despite the obstacles I faced. Without your words of encouragement, I wouldn’t be where I am today without you. Thank you for believing in me when everyone else didn’t. A giant of a man. You will never be forgotten.

“R.I.P BUCK” -Josh

Tony, I never imagined having to write reflections of you in memory of. It’s unfathomable. It has been said that the good die young, I concur, but also in my heart is reminded of excerpts from an old song ‘ And then do we wonder, why others prosper living so wicked year after year’. But who are we, ‘The Lord giveth and the Lord take it’. What a great Man you were, putting love into action, you didn’t have to be in one’s presence, your love abounded. We could call on you anytime, with that heartwarming smile you would say ‘I gat you’ and that was enough because you did. Your smile greeted us anytime, anywhere. We were comforted by it! Our last conversation, around 10pm a few weeks back, we had a flat Tyre on Gladstone Road, told you the situation, and our alternatives you said ‘OK baby I’ll be on standby’ that’s who you were, love by action. Paige grew up in your house, was convinced you were blood, calls you Uncle Tony. When she passed by and saw you outside, she screams “Uncle Tony” because of the love you exuded, oh what a great Man you were Tony!! You strongly believed in Psalm 119:99 ‘I AM SMARTER THAN MY TEACHERS’ lol you were convinced, but not arrogant. What a Man you were, you loved your family, and you loved us all!! And for that, your reward awaits you. Sleep easy my dear friend, we will meet again.

“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it but with the last breath of each Solider who gave their breath protecting it”.

Uncle Tony it takes a special kind of love to appreciate you the way we do. It takes a special kind of love to be able to say I love you the way I do. With such shocking news I took it for granted but the manners, morals and principles you planted in me will never be removed from my heart (I command it ). “Tony, Tony, Tony is that you?” Words of your Late Mother Mable Gold Rolle and you would answer “yes my love”. This was the same love you shared with my sweet aunty ginger and to your children and entire family. In the land of the living this is a time of sadness, but you served well all the days of your life. Soldier, you made your spirit right so you’ve gained your enteral wings with gladness. I won’t stop pushing uncle tony, thank you for being my inspiration and motivation. I would just like to kiss your forehead and hug your body for one last time. I will never forget you and I will make things right to see you once again. Thank you for everything and salute. TAKE YOUR REST, Love your Cliffy

This is long overdue and quite honestly I have been avoiding facing the reality of it all. The passing of a person happens every day but when it’s someone you know it’s never a easy thing to accept.

Rest in peace to a man with the biggest personality, youthful soul, kind heart and so many adventures/stories.

Jades dad. I never called you by your name but I would always say Jades dad. Two peas in the pod you two, lol. Always playing and joking and carrying on. You weren’t just her father but have children that love you both biological and spirituality adopted. So much character and heart. Jades dad. Thank you for opening your home to myself and my family. Thank you for being an AMAZING father figure to Jade and playing a major part in shaping her into the amazing woman she is today. Thank you for loving Mama Ginger in a way that allowed her to pour from a cup overflowing every day. Thank you for being so real and raw. Thank you Jades dad.

I’m going to miss Jades updates when I ask about you and the family. I’m going to miss your lively personality. I’m going to miss your presence when I come to visit.

I’m going to miss you sir. Sincerely. I’ll miss you. Thank you for everything. Jades dad. And my play dad too. Rest in peace. Love your Texas Daughter Vernita and Family

Next time, maybe later, coming right back, tomorrow. Most of the words we use and usually regret later in life. I Always thought there would be more time to talk to or visit you but I guess God had a different plan. The only thing I can truly say is Thank you. Thank you for stepping up in my life. Thank you for the time you took to show me that there is more to

being a man than what meets the eye. You showed me how to become a man of integrity, and honor, but most of all you taught me how to have respect for myself knowing the journey I’m on from the path which I came from. To many of us, you gave joy, happiness, comfort, love, sadness, and pain. I can’t say or answer for others, but for me “Samuel Tony “Buck” Evans will always be my HER. God Bless you Dad, until we meet again. Respect Always Omar.
