THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION TECHNICAL CADET CORPS PROGRAMME
Induction Ceremony Theme: Thursday 6th September 2018 6:00pm Governor’s Ballroom British Colonial Hilton Hotel #1 Bay Street Nassau, the Bahamas
Brief History of Technical Cadets In March of 1990, the Government agreed, in principle, to the establishment of the Technical Cadet Corps Programme (TCCP) for students entering the tenth grades of Secondary Schools. The idea of the programme arose out of an awareness of the need for the creation of a pool of skilled young persons, who would be equipped to adequately and effectively address the employment demands of the future. The Government recognized the need to transfer to our young people, entry level skills which would enable them to be productively employed when they leave school or fundamental skills for further tertiary level education. The Programme presently falls within the portfolio of the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology, with the full sponsorship, involvement and funding of the following corporation: Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC), The Water & Sewerage Corporation, Bahamas Telecommunication Company (BTC) and the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas (ZNS) . The curriculum of the programme is geared towards training students firstly in the technical areas in which the sponsoring corporations specialize. Cadets will be exposed to such areas as: Electronics, Electricity, Water Testing & Treatment and Broadcasting. Secondly cadets will be exposed to general Engineering and Technology careers of the Bahamas. It is felt that out of this programme participants could emerge with the potential for higher education and training.

e at the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas (BCB) are very pleased each year to see another cadre of young Bahamian men and women who wish to become a part of the Global Telecommunications
As the national station grows and develops in new areas, we believe that our advancement benefits those who participate in the Technical Cadet Corps Programme (TCCP), giving them even more advantages than those who were part of the Programme in the past. We at the BCB are looking for Cadets who already have a preference regarding the specific area in which they would like to become proficient so that we can better assist them, as well as cross-training them in other sections of the Corporation. Everyone at the BCB looks forward to sharing their knowledge with the cadets, giving them the benefit of not only their depth of experience, but also their dedication to and love for this profession. BCB is dedicated to making a concerted effort to fully utilize the Cadets’ abilities and channel their passion into a viable, successful career path. We would very seriously like to employ even more of the Cadets in the coming years as we contribute to their training and education in this exciting and fulfilling industry. As always, we are looking forward to the next group of young people coming through our doors, ready to start work in the broadcasting field that has always been and will always be an exciting life journey.
