Obituary

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.

—Proverbs 3:3-4 (NLT)

A TIME TO BE BORN

Late evening Tuesday, 15th October 1963 Beryl Lloyd called out to the late Coral Johnson, who lived across the street, that she needed to go to the Princess Margaret Hospital. Ms. Johnson, who later stood Godmother for this bundle of joy, called an ambulance. Without giving the hospital personnel enough time to even put on a pair of gloves Beryl Lloyd was wheeled into the delivery room because Ursula D. Lloyd was ready to make her debut appearance in this world and time was of the essence. And so at 7:00pm the 6 lbs. 10 ozs. Baby Girl born to Ronald and Beryl Lloyd blessed the union as the second child and second girl.

EARLY LIFE

Ursula was second in the lineup of the eight (8) siblings born to Ronald and Beryl: (Renee, Ursula, Drexel, Erika, Prescott, Nevon, Alex and Sheneene). She was very athletically active and participated in track and field, volleyball, swimming, and competitive horseback riding.

EDUCATION

Ursula was a brilliant and exceptional student. Her mother recounts that she started school as early as four (4) years old. During the family’s move to Freeport, Grand Bahama her early education began at St. Paul’s School later returning to complete her education at St. Anne’s school and graduated in 1980 and always bragged about the late Mrs. Eneas talking about building family relationships which extended to her school family. St. Anne’s where her love for math and accounting florished.

During her primary and senior years, she was active in most of the school clubs including the Girls Guide (Brownies).

In pursuit of tertiary education, she attended Henderson State University - Arkadelphia, Arkansas. In May 1987 she graduated

with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Later in 1996, she was conferred a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Nova Southeastern University, School of Business & Entrepreneurship. In 2002 the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) awarded her with a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) Diploma recognizing her as an expert in managing trusts and estates. The designation distinguished her as a qualified practitioner from a generalist.

Her scholastic accolades also include being featured in Who’s Who in American University in 1986 and 1987, passing the Canadian Securities Examination and completing the seminars in Trust, Fiduciary, and Investment Services.

A TIME TO LOVE

Ursula Lloyd and David Rolle were married on Saturday, 24th August 1991, making it a love story for thirty-six (36) years (three years of courtship and thirty-three years of marriage).

Both were involved in the Baptist League Sports Competition and Fellowship; he attended First Baptist Church and she Central Baptist Church. As a result of this interaction David recalled that he took an interest in Ursula. However, he was shy and never approached her. Soon their paths crossed while attending a concert, after greeting each other with a friendly hug David felt that he possibly stood a chance at winning her

favour; but still, he did not pursue. Months past but as fate would have it while leaving the then College of the Bahamas (COB) parking lot David noticed her vehicle. He decided to honk his horn to get her attention. She stopped and he handed her a “prank” card that read: “The man who gave you this card is a Fireman, … do everything the nice Fireman tells you to do.” Ursula, in return, gave him her business card with the following inscription on the back: “Romans 8:28 KJV – And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Two weeks later and many conversations of “Hi, (pause)....” or “How was your day...(pause)”, she told him that he was the most boring person she had ever met. This, however, made this young police officer/fireman more diligent and determined in his pursuit. In time, both found that they had a mutual interest and that they were avid volleyball enthusiasts (Ursula played night league volleyball and David was a referee/linesman).

Through the games their relationship developed. Many afternoons were spent planning and discussing each other’s likes and dislikes, home, building a family and a future together. David wanted five (5) children and Ursula wanted four (4). These conversations evolved into an engagement and their subsequent marriage at Central Baptist Church, Jean Street, on Saturday, 24th August 1991. It was mutually agreed

that they would spend the first year getting to know each other better before the arrival of children.

They were blessed with the birth of Davardo in 1993 and nine (9) years later welcomed Duran in September 2002 to their family.

FAMILY LIFE

Ursula was the core connector for her family. She attended family re-unions, church launches and functions, remembered special occasions, and was assertive and conciliatory. She was an exemplary and devoted daughter. Her love for her parents and siblings is unquestionable and she was the proud Aunt of her nephews and nieces.

By the circumstance of her marriage, Ursula was met with love and acceptance in the Christian environment of the Rolle family, a family deeply entrenched in the work at First Baptist Church. She could oftentimes be heard making arrangements for her visits to her mother-in-law Deaconess Mabel Rolle or going by to collect something delectable from her, or attending church or family events put on by that side of her family. She exemplified the true grace of a daughter-in-law and by extension a sister-in-law and was truly loved by her new family. Her motherin-law (now deceased) described her as a gem and the “truest daughter-in-law” anyone could wish for. She also depicted her as one who personified the spirit of Naomi and felt that their relationship was reminiscent of that of Ruth and Naomi. This spirit also became the foundation for the relationship that Ursula began with Kenya, her new daughter-in-law, whom she embraced and welcomed to the family.

A TIME TO WORK

A consummate professional, Ursula Rolle, MBA, BSc., ITM, TEP was a widely recognized leader in the financial services sector. Gifted and knowledgeable in Asset Management, she started her tenure with Bahamas International Trust Company in 1980. Her expertise in Trust Management, Investment Management, Securities Administration, Foundations and analyzing local and foreign capital markets, contributed to her being a well sought-after Financial Executive. She worked with SG Hambros Bank & Trust (Bahamas) Limited, CIBC Trust Company (Bahamas) Limited, Fidelity Merchant Bank and Trust Company (Bahamas) Limited and until her demise as Assistant Vice-President (AVP) Fiduciary Service and Investment at CBH (BAHAMAS) LTD formerly Banque SCS Alliance (Nassau) Limited. She is a Member of The Bahamas Society of Financial Analysis and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Ursula never allowed her career or financial well-being to change who she was and, therefore, her gift was not just limited to the wealthy. Ursula chose to share her knowledge with anyone who was willing to listen and would often be invited as a guest speaker or placed on the church’s line up to share on the topic of personal finances/wealth building.

THE ENTREPRENEUR

Ursula was always business minded and displayed an entrepreneurial spirit. She counselled and wrote Business Plans for many successful Operations, so it seemed quite natural that she would appropriate Proverbs 8:12 for her own family. Looking ahead in preparation for a graceful transition, Ursula convinced her husband that it was in their best interest to have a replacement stream of income. Therefore, they invested in the purchase of Add-On Auto Parts Store, 120 Carmichael Road, where their son Duran is the Customer Care Representative.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE

She was the perfect embodiment of true Christian living. At Central Baptist Church she was a member of the choir, Sunday school teacher and the Missions Team who often making the trek to Cat Island on their visits. Just as she opened her heart in service at Central Baptist Church so she did in support of her husband at First Baptist Church and later her sister and brother-in-law in their new venture of launching a ministry called Bahamas Harvest Church.

The annals of history will reflect her footprints in every aspect of the growth of Bahamas Harvest Church for over 29 years. A quiet and gentle storm, Pastorelect Ursula was the first member of Bahamas Harvest Church and the financial guru behind the scenes from day one who gave of her time, talent and treasure to the ministry, all in an effort to make an impact for life change in the lives of those who walked within its walls. Even a day before her leaving this side of the divide, she was busy about God’s matters. Hours before she answered that familiar voice with “Here I am”, she was sending Birthday greetings and praying for those who came to visit her. No stone left unturned.

Pastor Mario describes her as a foundational cornerstone of the church indeed “not just in the structure…but in the spirit and heart of our congregation. Her faith, her wisdom, and her unwavering commitment is the bedrock on which so much of this ministry is built”.

Ursula opened their home, from their apartment to their new home in Coral Lakes. There was nothing withheld. This was an open invitation of love. Many wonderful times of family gathering, and Small Group meetings were held in her home. She was blessed and believed in sharing in abundance.

We watched her metamorphism from being called to pray to her “Father God” to giving full sermons and exhortations that were rich with praise and thanksgiving for how God was partnering with her through whatever situations she encountered. Her unwavering and unyielding faith was always a source of encouragement, she was never a complainer and sought to find out about the situations of others without expressing hers.

Bahamas Harvest Church and the church family of so many other ministries remember this rare gem with gratitude for her sacrificial steadfastness, loyalty, generosity, humility, and stewardship.

COMMUNITY LEADER

Ursula was a true expression of her foundational teaching and training as a Girl Guides in the Brownies section. She was comfortable working independently on projects or in teams. She was the epitome of a woman with well-developed social skills. She enjoyed making new friends, loved to dance, and enjoyed will always be remembered for her laughter as she eschewed any talks that were not faith-based.

As the tributes pour in from so many persons across the globe, they stand a true testament as to how she cared for people and the many lasting friendships and lifelong bonds she made. Her humble, serene, and kind qualities endeared her to not just her family but to countless others who had the privilege to meet her.

To

my darling wife,

I would wish to first thank God for honoring and granting me my wish through you. As a man of few words, I would like to say, thank you for being you from the day I first knew you until the day you left me physically. I will cherish the moments, memories and the joy you brought to my life and by extension; to Davardo and Duran. I have and will always love you.

Iwould like to begin by acknowledging that my mother, Ursula Rolle, was a phenomenal, God-fearing woman. She exemplified unconditional love, which has become the foundation for how I live my life. She was always in great spirits, with a smile that could light up even the darkest of rooms. She loved to laugh, dance, and stay physically active, often striving to close the rings on her Apple Watch.

She was a compassionate listener and always offered a helping hand whenever I needed support. Her wisdom was grounded in scripture, and she had a verse for every occasion. Every conversation with her ended with a prayer.

She loved her “handsome boys” dearly and did whatever was necessary to ensure we were cared for. She was deeply devoted to her work and modeled self-discipline in pursuing her goals. In moments when I felt discouraged, she became my source of strength. Even amidst pain and hardship, she demonstrated remarkable resilience, reassuring us that everything would be okay.

It pains me deeply to have lost someone I loved so dearly, but it brings me comfort to know that heaven has gained another angel. I know she will be watching over me, and I will always love her dearly.

To my beloved mother,

Ursula Rolle, you will be deeply missed. You were my greatest source of support, always guiding me and helping me find my way in life. I have always looked up to you, admiring your confidence and your vibrant, outgoing nature. Although I won’t have you by my side for the rest of my milestones, I am grateful to have had you for some of them.

RECESSIONAL HYMN | IT’S ALRIGHT NOW

There was a time I travelled a lonely sinful road; Beneath a heavy burden bending low; But now all things are different, since Jesus took my load It’s alright now, I’m His I know.

(Chorus)

It’s alright now, for I am in my Saviour’s care It’s alright now; my Saviour hears and answers prayer

He’ll walk with me, (He’ll walk beside me)

Till I climb the heavenly stair, And everything (And everything is alright now)

And down a lonely pathway, without a friend to guide, I walked in sin and sorrow all alone ‘Till Jesus came and found me, and drew me to His side; It’s alright now, for I’m His own.

No more in sin I wander, no more in darkness roam

The Lord has placed my feet on higher ground; Each day new heights I’m gaining, my soul is nearing home, It’s alright now, I’m heaven bound.

A Tribute To Pastor-Elect Ursula Rolle

Dear Elder Ursula,

With hearts full of gratitude and bittersweet sorrow, we honor the incredible life you lived and the indelible legacy you leave behind. From the very moment Bahamas Harvest Church took its first step, you were there - steadfast, unwavering, and anointed. As our Chief Financial Officer, your leadership was a cornerstone of this ministry, and your wisdom laid a foundation that will support this church for generations to come.

Ursula, your kindness was unmatched. You carried yourself with grace and thoughtfulness, always ready to extend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. Your generosity flowed from a heart deeply rooted in love for God and His people. Whether it was your time, your talents, or your treasure, you gave freely and selflessly, embodying what it truly means to serve others.

Your brilliance was evident in everything you touched. You handled the church’s resources with integrity and excellence, leading with wisdom and faith. Your dedication ensured that the mission of Bahamas Harvest Church thrived, and your counsel always brought clarity and confidence to those of us privileged to serve alongside you.

But above all, it was your love that defined you. You were loving and deeply loved by so many. You cared for others with an open heart, and in turn, you were cared for by those whose lives you so richly blessed. You had an extraordinary way of making everyone feel valued and cherished - a gift that few possess and one we will never forget.

Elder Ursula, while your passing leaves an unfillable void, your legacy lives on in our hearts and in the life of this church. You are irreplaceable, and as a congregation, we are forever indebted to you for the countless ways you poured yourself into this ministry. Because of you, we stand stronger, dream bigger, and love deeper.

Rest now in the arms of your Savior, knowing that your work on earth was not just well done - it was extraordinary. Your impact will echo in eternity, and your memory will remain a guiding light for all of us who continue the work you began.

With love, honor, and eternal gratitude, Pastor Mario Moxey on behalf of your Bahamas Harvest Church Family

A Faithful and Fearless Friend and Defender

Ursula Rolle was one of the greatest individuals I have ever known. When you had Ursula as a friend, you had a fierce defender on your side. No pretense. She was always authentically and unapologetically herself. No frills, just faith. She lived above the fray of the frivolous things of life. She worked the works of Him Who called her while it was day and even when the night of her life was closing in and it became difficult for her, she still wanted to do just one more thing. She wanted to encourage one more person, help lift the burden of one more person, pray for one more person, always thinking about the scripture in Matthew 25:40, “Whatever you have done for the least of these My brethren, you have done it unto Me”. Many times over the last few years, she carried out her service and acts of kindness in great pain, but she loved the Father and His children so much, she pressed through the pain to put a Face on Jesus. The people she helped and ministered to had no idea what she was going through, and she would have it no other way. A few months ago, when I was checking in on her, she inquired about someone else who was abroad receiving treatment. She couldn’t reach out at that time, but she wanted to ensure that I was still reaching out. That was Ursula, “not just looking out only for her interests but also for the interests of others” as we are instructed to do in Philippians 2:4. She refused to be bound by her reality but broke through those barriers time and time again to do God’s work. It was amazing to witness.

My dear friend, in her last act of friendship, prayed for Aunt Joan and me just hours before she transitioned. After we sang and

prayed with her, she began to pray for us and though we couldn’t quite understand every single word, we did hear these important few words that we will hold dear for the rest of our lives: “Lord comfort and strengthen these two”. I believe that if given the op portunity in that moment to hold the hands of all she knew, loved and held dear, she would have done the same thing for each and every one. She was transitioning but she sensed we were broken, and she prayed for her friends. It reminded me of Jesus in John 17 when He was about to leave this earth, and He prayed for His friends.

She taught me that faith can carry you far—farther than the lim its life tries to put on us. And we can surpass those limits and expectations with joy. She never held her head down, but “looked up until the hills, from whence cometh her help; for her help cometh from the Lord; The Lord Who made Heaven and earth” (Psalms 121:1-2).

My life has been truly blessed and enriched by our friendship and sisterhood and even though my heart is aching because of the void of her presence, I will put into practice what her life echoed every day: do what God has called you to do, even when it hurts. Urs, I love you now, I love you forever. I have absolutely no doubt that you are now resting in eternal peace. Until we meet again....

“Generosity isn’t measured by the size of the gift but by the heart of the giver.”

As I reflect on the life of Ursula (“Her Dash”)

It is my great honor to have been blessed with such beautiful memories of her. She was fun, a giver, so knowledgeable and intelligent; especially in investments. She was devoted to all those whose lives she touched. She knew her tribe and celebrated them. She was a family person; a proud member of the Family of God and Bahamas Harvest Church. She believed in the Beryleen Lloyd and Ronald Lloyd lineage and was a constant support. She loved, admired and adored David Rolle, and was honored to be the mother of their two exceptional sons. She was an incredible mother.

Ursula was extremely multi-faceted. She was hired in and enjoyed the field of investment from immediately after high school. We colleged in Arkansas at the same time. We were so different in our approach to life. She was involved and I was always running away.

She and David had a “dancing, happy” family. They enjoyed being together and I loved to see them together. She was a romantic and watched “Hallmark” constantly. She was an organizer, at times even a runner and was a healthy eater when encouraged by Uncle David.

Her last Whatsapp message to me a week prior to her homecoming was a video of one of her favorite speakers “Priscilla” on the Subject of Prayer. I will treasure this for my lifetime.

I give God thanks for having been privileged and for being allowed a small place in her life. I have learnt so much from her.

Praise be to God who does all things well.

CBH BAHAMAS LTD Tribute to the late Pastor-Elect URSULA ROLLE

From the commencement of Pastor-Elect Ursula Rolle joining the CBH team in July 2007, her presence and impact on the organization was indelible. Her wealth of knowledge and professional experience were vast. Her work ethic was impeccable as she was extremely reliable, dedicated and committed. She was indeed extraordinary in that she performed her responsibilities beyond what was normally expected. In her positions as Senior Vice President, Head of Wealth Management and a member of the CBH Executive Management Team, her responsibilities were tremendous yet she remained focused, steadfast and persistent in order to accomplish CBH’s mandates set before her.

Our CBH family shared so much together during and outside of work hours. We encouraged and supported one another and will cherish the memories of the valuable times spent with Ursula. She had an inner peace and an unshakeable faith that she shared with many of her colleagues. We are extremely grateful for her outstanding contributions and many words of wisdom she gave to us all which will remain dear to our hearts. We will miss Ursula’s amicable conversations, her beautiful smile and her laughter. We will miss Ursula’s professionalism and her calm demeanor in the face of any obstacle. We will also miss Ursula’s prayers to bless the food at our social events, her sound advice and gentle spirit.

To her family and loved ones, our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. May God be of great strength, comfort and peace to you all. May you find comfort in the love that surrounds you and in the beautiful memories you shared with her.

On behalf of the CBH Bahamas team, CBH Group, its Board of Directors, its Management and employees, we offer our sincere condolences. May we be comforted in knowing that we will be reunited one day with her in a glorified state and be with the Lord forever (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

Becoming Medicine

Dearest Ursula, I rise this morning without you. My first thought was of devastation and loss, but it was fleeting as memories of the love our sisterhood covered tempered me.

Thank you for showing me what it means to be ‘beneficial to the body’ and by your example becoming the medicine of love, acceptance and forgiveness that I have received in God’s service. We parted in the lonesome valley, but I know that joy and reunion is ours... after the last mile of the way...

So, until then

I’ll strive to be the medicine

Aunt Joan (Joan Lockhart-Culmer)

A Loving Memory of Auntie Ursula

As I sit her writing, I find it surreal that you are gone for us. Your laughter, patience, generosity, guidance and love will be missed. Auntie Ursula was always the person you called when you needed assistance and she was eager to help. Our family time together was always my favorite because I knew she would spoil her nieces and nephews with outings, dinner or even vacations. She taught us the importance of family, always making us feel included. Her kindness, not just in words, will remain in our memories. During this holiday season she will be especially missed because she loved family time, having all of us together.. Saying goodbye is very difficult, but although our hearts ache for her we will take in the knowledge that auntie is at rest and thankful for the love that she left among our family.

All my love, Adia Forbes (Niece)
