DEAR FILM LOVERS I am so excited to be producing the 26th season of the Edward & Bernice Wenger Center for the Arts - Randi & Bruce Pergament Jewish Film Festival. For those of you who do not know me, I am Julie Assael, Senior Adult Program Coordinator, and I worked closely with Donna Shulman on this year’s festival. INFORMATION Purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment — screenings will sell out! Free valet parking available from June to August. Seating is first come, first served. We encourage filmgoers to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to each program. General seating begins 30 minutes before show time. Sponsor seating will be in a designated area toward the front. Films begin promptly. All cell phones and other electronic devices inside the auditorium must be turned off during each screening. Films are not rated and some may contain explicit language and/or violence. All foreign films have English subtitles. Please note, the Gezunter CafÊ closes at 4pm during the summer. When Reuben, a father who abandoned his special needs son Gadi at a young age, kidneys begin to fail, Gadi wants to donate one of his own to save his father’s life, but the transplant committee objects to it. In the 1950s, a group of mostly Jewish dancers from New York City fell in love with a dance from Cuba, the mambo, earning them the nickname the mamboniks. This documentary tells the story of how two cultures, Jewish and Latin, met on the dance floor at a time when America was racially segregated and anti-Semitism was commonplace.
