City of Rowlett Much the same as any of our other Safest Places records, we began this one with the Census. A rundown of the main 100 most crowded spots in Texas were accumulated that reported wrongdoing information to the agency. At that point the most recent Uniform Crime Report from the FBI was utilized to discover crime statistics for these areas, then were separated into the classes of murders, violent crimes, property violations, and all crimes. The evaluations organized & computed each of these crime rates in light of violations per 100,000 occupants. Every city was positioned with a score from one to 100 as far as homicides, savage violations, property wrongdoings, and collective violations, per 100,000, with one being the most secure conceivable score. So that more severe crimes would represent more, they would be worth 30 percent of the general score, where the aggregate number of violations would be worth only 10 percent. Results determined not only is Missouri City one of the most secure suburbs in the Houston range, with only 1,362 violations for every 100,000 individuals, it was effortlessly one of the most secure in the state. All in all, Missouri City reigns supreme for the idea safe place for one’s golden years.

Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital’s Cancer Center celebrates National Cancer Survivors Day on June 3
H
ouston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is joining nearly 14.5 million American cancer survivors in celebrating the 29th Annual National Cancer Survivors Day® this year. Also being recognized are the many family members, friends and health care providers whose contributions to, and support of, cancer survivors help make the celebration possible. “Surviving cancer is more than just living. It’s an attitude about life and living each day to the fullest,” said Frances Goerlich, director of Houston Methodist Cancer Center at Sugar Land. “You will find our Cancer Survivor’s Day event filled with joy, camaraderie, hope, compassion, faith and love as we honor cancer survivors for their strength and courage.”
“National Cancer Survivors Day is a great opportunity for cancer survivors, caregivers, friends and family to come together and affirm the possibility of quality of life after a diagnosis of cancer,” added Clive Shkedy, M.D., radiation oncologist and medical director of Houston Methodist Cancer Center at Sugar Land. Anyone living with a personal history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life – is a cancer survivor, according to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation®. Additionally, the foundation says that more people are surviving cancer than ever before, thanks to advances in prevention, early detection, treatment and followup care. Cancer, however, does come with many challenges, such as hindered access to cancer specialists
and promising new treatments, inadequate or no insurance, financial hardships, employment problems and psychological struggles. “Despite these difficulties, cancer survivors can live active, productive lives with the support of other survivors,” said Shkedy. Houston Methodist Cancer Center at Sugar Land welcomes all local cancer survivors and a guest to join us as we honor survivors living with a history of cancer. The Cancer Survivors Day Celebration and Luncheon will be held Friday, June 3 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital’s new Brazos Pavilion Conference Center. Registration is required. Register online at houstonmethodist.org/events or call 281.274.7500.

Pro Tips Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late to Back-Up
T
How would you feel if you found your dream job and wanted to apply, but could not find your resume? What if 10 years’ worth of treasured pictures of your babies and kids were missing?
How about financial and tax information….gone? Unfortunately, these are the kinds of calls we get all the time, and our first question every time is, when did you last back up? The world moves so fast between work, family, kid’s activities, etc. we can back up our computer files another day right? Then days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months and months to years. We’ve all been there right?
The fact is that without a regular back up schedule we are ALL at risk of losing our digital life. Computers fail and hard drives have a limited life time. Here are some alarming statistics: •
30% of people have never backed up their data
•
29% of disk drive disasters are caused by accident
• 1 in 10 computers is infected with viruses each month. Some viruses will delete or encrypt your files and make them unreadable. You don’t have to be tech saavy to back up your data. Most of our customers either use the Internet often times referred to as the “Cloud” (Drop Box and iCloud are very common examples) or an external drive. Other options with much less space include USB Flash Drives and CDs/DVDs. Our point is…just do something…don’t wait until it’s too late. Please create a back-up plan and schedule and stick to it. If you have questions or need help with your plan please call us, 281.761.4446. by Mark Taylor Sienna Computer Repair
