Audiology Associates is Dedicated to the Community’s Hearing Healthcare BY ALICIA DOYLE

A

udiology Associates is dedicated to assisting adults and children with all of their hearing healthcare needs to improve communication and quality of life. “Our doctors of audiology provide a variety of services including comprehensive hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, cerumen (ear wax) removal, custom ear molds and ear plugs, tinnitus management, and cochlear implant evaluation and programming,” explained Kevin Bolder, a Doctor of Audiology who began working for Audiology Associates in November of 2011, and became the practice owner in 2018. “Our providers have a genuine interest in helping everyone hear better,” Dr. Bolder continued. “Some people are reluctant to pursue our services because of cost. Hearing aids are offered at various price points and we accept most insurance plans.” Additionally, Audiology Associates is a Medi-Cal provider and contracted provider for the Veterans Healthcare Administration and the California Department of Rehabilitation. “The main focus of our daily work is helping people to hear better,” Dr. Bolder emphasized. Other professionals who work at Audiology Associates include his wife, Fran Bolder, a Doctor of Audiology who has extensive experience working with cochlear implant recipients, both adults and children, since 2000. The practice is also home to John Davis, a Doctor of Audiology who worked as an audiologist in Ventura County for five years dispensing hearing aids and performing diagnostic testing of hearing and balance function, and who coauthored several research studies in the areas of hearing loss and vestibular evaluation. While occasionally a person’s hearing loss can be “cured” with an in-office ear cleaning, most hearing losses are permanent and progressive over time, Dr. Bolder noted. “When hearing loss is significant enough to cause communication difficulties, hearing aids are recommended,” Dr. Bolder advised. “Much like all elec-

Dr Kevin Bolder, practice owner. He noted that while all audiology practices are able to see the typical adult patient with hearing loss who needs hearing aids, “sometimes special populations of hearing impaired individuals may have difficulty finding a clinic that can provide services to meet their specific needs.”

For instance, not all audiology practices offer services for infants, veterans, and cochlear implant candidates/recipients. “We are pleased to routinely offer services for these specialty populations,” Dr. Bolder said. Most patients at Audiology Associates reside in Santa Clarita and its surrounding areas, with many others coming from the San Fernando Valley, Antelope Valley, and Bakersfield. “We see patients of all ages, including infants,” Dr. Bolder said. “We have performed hearing aid fittings on babies as young as four months old and adults over 100 years old.” The practice serves anyone who has a hearing loss, suspects they have hearing loss, or wants to rule out a hearing loss seek out our services. “Hearing issues can sometimes be remedied with an ear cleaning,” said Dr. Bolder, adding that some hearing difficulties can be managed with the use of assistive listening devices. “The majority of our patients come to us for hearing aid fittings and adjustments. Those with very severe hearing losses can potentially benefit from a cochlear implant.” In today’s challenging times, an additional result of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the realization by many individuals that they do not hear as well as they previously thought. “Most people use visual cues to supplement communication to some

degree,” Dr. Bolder explained. “Once face coverings became mandated and communication via virtual platforms became the norm, more people have begun to struggle to understand daily conversations. Because hearing loss typically occurs gradually, untreated hearing loss is actually fairly common. We hope that anyone struggling to hear well will schedule an appointment to see us.” Above all, Audiology Associates aims to improve hearing, communication, and overall quality of life. “It is well documented that hearing loss is associated with other health conditions such as depression, falls, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cognitive decline,” Dr. Bolder warned. “We truly believe that better hearing begins now, and encourage evaluation for anyone who suspects an ear or hearing problem, no matter how mild.” As far as the future is concerned, “we hope to resume involvement in various community events soon,” Dr. Bolder added. “Over the past year, we have truly missed these extra opportunities to connect with existing patients, potential patients, and the general community.” Audiology Associates is located at 23838 Valencia Blvd., Suite 100, in Santa Clarita. My wife made me come in to Advanced Audiology because she kept complaining the TV was too loud and she had to repeat herself all the time. They told me I had a loss in the range where my wife’s voice was and I would have problems in noisy situations. I still didn’t believe it but they said I could do a trial at home with the hearing aids. After just one week my wife was so happy and I couldn’t believe what I was missing. These hearing aids have changed my life and saved my marriage because I thought I’m too young to wear hearing aids. Thanks to Advanced Audiology. D.M.

Over the years, Nola Aronson’s Advanced Audiology has developed a process of evaluating a hearing problem and selecting the correct hearing device for optimum results in sound clarity and comfort. Nola Aronson’s Advanced Audiology is the only audiologist in Santa Clarita that offers the “Exact Match Hearing Process™ “ and backs it up with a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee. Aronson largely attributes the success of Advanced Audiology to business philosophies she’s implemented from the beginning. “We give more than what’s expected — We exchange in abundance with people,” she said. “Our philosophy and purpose is to help people hear better so they can lead better social lives and communicate better in society.” The Santa Clarita Valley community has also made Nola Aronson’s Advanced Audiology successful. “We live in a very small community, even though we have a population of 300,000 people, my philosophy has always been to get involved,” she said. For instance, Nola Aronson’s Advanced Audiology has been the title sponsor for many events put on by local nonprofits, including the Boys & Girls Club and Alzheimer’s Association and Circle of Hope. In other charitable endeavors, Aronson is a member of Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley, a woman’s organization focused on improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world; and also serves The Chancellor’s Circle, which is the College of the Canyons Foundation’s most prestigious leadership support group. She is vice chair of the Circle of Hope board and on the Valley Industry Association board of directors. She has many awards over the years to show her business as being the most trusted and best business for hearing in the SCV. In the last two years alone she was nominated 2019 best business by the SCV Chamber, 2020 best business by Valley Industry Association, Empowering hearts Honoree and #19 of the 51 most influential people in SCV by the Signal newspaper. In April of 2019, she sponsored a room at the new 30,000-square-foot SCV Senior Center, which was named in her honor; and she was one of the Cover Stars for the center’s celebrity waiter’s dinner in February of 2019, in which funds raised were used to help support the center, as well as build its new facility. “The main thing I would like to get across is that I am a philanthropist, and that when you buy a hearing aid from us, you’re not just buying something, you’re actually getting a solution to your hearing problem,” Aronson emphasized. “And because we give back to the community, our patients also get to give back – so they not only hear better, they get to give back to their community.” For more information, call (661) 403-1891, or visit scvadvanced audiology.com.  

American Family Funding Offers Mortgage Lending Expertise BY ALICIA DOYLE

M

ortgage loans have become very important in the lives of American Family Funding clients because they allow them to accomplish their dreams and goals in life. “Nowadays, it’s not about buying a home, living in it for 30 years, and having it paid off,” said Fred Arnold, a mortgage advisor at American Family Funding. “It’s now more about how to utilize that home until your family grows, until you get the next job or next opportunity to where you can either move or invest in another property to reach long- and short-term financial goals.” Additionally, “interest rates are so low that they not only lower their payment, but every month their principal…and still take a little money out to pay for college, put in a backyard and really pay off debt,” Arnold said. “It’s about family and life experience. When utilized correctly, it can be a tremendous tool to build your family’s wealth and achieve goals in life.” American Family Funding, established in 1993, is a full-service mortgage firm with an experienced staff, offering knowledge in every area of mortgage lending, from purchasing and refinancing to veteran loans and reverse mortgages. Their mortgage professionals have access to a full range of resources, and all of their mortgage consultants are dedicated to finding the right loan with the best rates, terms and costs to meet their clients’ unique financial needs. Arnold particularly enjoys working with entrepreneurs, because many entrepreneurs and small business owners “are finding it very challenging to qualify for a home loan.” American Family Funding “says yes to entrepreneurs who have been told no by other big finance institutions because their income fluctuates,” Arnold noted. “And because their income goes up and down, many are unable to find them financing. I really like helping the self-employed qualify for the same loans as those who are employed in the W-2 fashion.” David Cantrell, a mortgage advisor at American Family Funding, said one of the biggest advantages to the community “is the fact that we are a local lender and we’ve been here for 30 years. We have such a strong connection…with so many realtors in this area that they know when they see that American Family Funding is working on this transaction, it’s going to get done, not be a problem, be a smooth transition and will close on time – which is the most important

We always close our loans on time and people in the community know that.” That’s why American Family Funding has such a strong reputation in Santa Clarita community – and the San Fernando Valley as well. “We have a wide area that we deal with, and we’re known very well for getting things done correctly and

getting them done on time,” Cantrell noted. “We offer free consultations and pre-approvals, which nowadays is very important because during Covid and even still, you have to have a pre-approval to even see a home.” When it comes to business philosophies that have propelled American Family Funding into success, “we ask our customers the right questions to find out what kind of financial goals they have in mind when it comes to buying a house,” Arnold said. “We treat people how they want to be

treated, and ask them questions that are relevant to them because each family in each circumstance is so unique. It’s about customizing a financial success plan for their mortgage, as it is their biggest debt they could possibly have in their whole life.” American Family Funding also attributes its success to being involved in the community. For instance, employees are very involved with churches and charities, “which allows us to know the pulse of Santa Clarita,” Arnold said. “Having that pulse allows us to give insight on so many different aspects of our client’s goals, especially when it comes to those relocating to the Santa Clarita Valley. We have tremendous insight to schools, and different amenities within our community.” Cantrell agreed that American Family funding “is extremely involved in most nonprofit events. Any time a nonprofit is having an event, Fred is the first person they call because they know we’ll be involved, whether it’s donating, volunteering, or they need a very large area, like a conference room. We help the helpers.” What is the ultimate goal of American Family Funding? “When it comes to problem solving around mortgage financing – when it comes to families looking for solutions to many of their long- and short-term financial goals – we want to make sure we’re giving them the tools to achieve those goals,” Arnold emphasized. “There are a lot of fears and unknowns when it comes to different strategies on accomplishing your goals around a mortgage and buying a home. We want to make sure we’re there to educate and answer all the questions the community has so they can go into a purchase with confidence knowing they’re making the best decision for their family.” Above all, “at American Family Funding, we take the family part very seriously,” Cantrell added. As far as the future is concerned, “we opened a new facility before the pandemic, so we’re looking forward to hosting a summer event, highlighting our new corporate office right near the old one,” Arnold said. “We relocated right when everything shut down, so we haven’t had a chance yet to show it off.” American Family Funding is located at 28338 Constellation Road, Suite 900, in Santa Clarita. Since the beginning, Green Thumb Nursery has taken pride in its consistent effort to better the environment through moral business practices by always making the environment a priority, and continuing to provide products that are safe and responsible. CBC Cleaning and Restoration has been in Santa Clarita for More Than Four Decades BY ALICIA DOYLE

BC was originally Carpet Beauty Care and cleaned carpet, upholstery, and area

rugs. “As time went on, emergency service for water, fire and mold as well as full reconstruction services — drywall, paint, cabinetry, flooring, etc. — became necessary and valuable services, so we changed our name to CBC Cleaning & Restoration and become licensed contractors and IICRC certified in all pertinent fields,” explained Debbie Glasnow, vice president of CBC Cleaning, where her husband, Gordon, is president. “Filling a need such as Covid 19 — disinfecting and cleaning — became a priority for our company in 2020 as well,” she said. “We immediately researched the best available methodology and technology … and then made these services available for those in need.” At CBC Cleaning, carpet and upholstery cleaning has always been the most commonly requested service, but in the last five years, “our cleaning and restoration services for natural stone, tile and grout has grown nearly 10-fold,” Glasnow said. Another specialty is their “inplant” area rug cleaning because “there is no other company in the Santa Clarita Valley that offers

The CBC office staff, cleaning and emergency response staff and reconstruction and remodel staff all take pride in their work and community. mold emergency — these services are offered 24-7 year-round,” Glasnow said. As far as the future is concerned, “we plan on continuing to grow our tile and restoration services and offering the best possible cleaning service available,” she said. “Emergency services for water, fire and mold is always evolving and improving, so it is crucial that we keep our staff educated, certified and informed of the best possible procedures available.” Above all, “taking pride in customer service is especially important right now since Covid-19,

as I am sure many people have experienced the lack of personal assistance, service and communication during these times,” Glasnow emphasized. “We hope that our amazing staff, who personally answers all calls, handles your cleaning and restoration appointments and needs, have demonstrated that CBC truly values our customers and Santa Clarita Valley residents.” The Glasnows have been in business in the Santa Clarita Valley for more than four decades. They raised their two daughters in town, and nearly all their employees live and raise their families in the Santa Clarita Valley. “Over the years we have given thousands of dollars to non-profit organizations, education programs and schools,” Glasnow added. “We instituted a program called Restoring Kindness and actually went out into the public and donated money and gift cards to people and organizations. It is a way of promoting the pass it forward philosophy and we hope over the years we have made a difference.” CBC Cleaning & Restoration is located at 25042 Anza Drive in Santa Clarita. Two ne hancing activity, recr w eation, learning oppo rtunities and public safety.

CANYON COUNTRY COMMUNITY CENTER

The first is the new Canyon Country Community Center. Located at the corner of Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road, this project has completely transformed this part of the City. Gone are the old buildings and huge billboards, and in their place is active parkland, public art and of course, the new 25,000 square-foot Community Center building. This project will deliver much more than a new City facility for residents to enjoy. People of all ages will have the opportunity to take classes, attend events, participate in recreational programs and more. The new Community Center will have a gymnasium, multi-purpose room, dance room, activity spaces, classrooms and a demonstration teaching kitchen. The kitchen is connected to the community center’s multi-purpose room and will enable small and large groups of all ages and skill levels to sharpen techniques and elevate their cooking. The Mercado parking lot, situated on the west side of the site and adjacent to Sierra Highway, offers more than just a place to park vehicles. It can be blocked off at both ends and serve as a venue for farmers markets, food truck festivals and other outdoor events. An outdoor event stage will allow for a greater variety of programming, such as concerts and festivals. The stage is elevated, meaning that residents can enjoy performances from the adjacent turf area without missing any of the action. The Gateway Plaza will feature the Communitree public art piece, as well as a trellis, seat walls and more. Another major art element is the massive ceramic tile wall mural that was community-designed thanks to an interactive tile-making experience. The finishing touches are being put on this new facility which will benefit residents throughout the City. Santa Clarita is looking forward to a ribbon cutting and grand opening event in the fall.

SANTA CLARITA VALLEY SHERIFF’S STATION

Santa Clarita continues to rank among the safest cities in California and across the nation thanks to the dedication and tireless work of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff ’s Station, as well as the vigilance of our residents. By working together and investing in resources and operations, the City and Sheriff ’s Station have seen the crime rate in Santa Clarita drop to all-time lows over the past few years.

Part of this investment has been in a new facility for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff ’s Station to replace the current one on Magic Mountain Parkway that has been in use since the early 1970s. Through a partnership between the City, Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger and the Los Angeles County Sheriff ’s Department, much progress has been made on a new facility located on Golden Valley Road between Centre Pointe Parkway and Robert C. Lee Parkway. The new Sheriff ’s Station does more than just provide additional space for deputies and staff to work. It is also centrally located in the Santa Clarita Valley, allowing for enhanced service throughout the City. When it opens, the 46,552 square-foot Sheriff ’s Station will include a jail, a 4,165 square-foot vehicle maintenance building, a communications tower and a helipad. It will also feature two civic art pieces, which will consist of windows that will be clearly visible from the exterior of the building, as well as a mural located in the station’s lobby. The new Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff ’s Station is anticipated to be turned over to the Sheriff ’s Department for operation in the near future.

Santa Clarita Christian School has Served the Santa Clarita Baptist Church Community for Four Decades

S

anta Clarita Christian School is a ministry of Santa Clarita Baptist Church that has been serving this community for nearly four decades. “Because of this identity, our aim is to disciple young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ and provide a top-tier educational experience,” said Dr. Mark Wilson, administrator. “We do this by hiring fully-qualified, Christian teachers that aim to provide a safe, loving, and relational environment. In addition, our biblically-based curriculum presents every subject from a Christian worldview.” The school’s “business philosophy” as a ministry of a local church is called the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). “We exist to carry out the mission of the Church to reach as many people as possible with the hope of the gospel, and to teach our students that the Great Commission isn’t just a message that saves lives, it produces a life and serves others,” Dr. Wilson emphasized. Santa Clarita Christian School is dual-accredited with both the Western

Association of Schools and Colleges, and the Association of Christian Schools International.

“… our aim is to disciple young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ and provide a top-tier educational experience …” — Dr. Mark Wilson “In addition, in partnership with both The Master’s University and Colorado Christian University, our dual-credit courses in high school make it possible for students to graduate with an Associates of Arts degree on the same day as they receive their high school diploma,” Dr. Wilson said. As far as community involvement is

concerned, each year teachers lead every 7th through 12th grade student in a two-day community service project. “This could be feeding the homeless, cleaning a local park or facility, or providing extra support for many of our local ministry partners,” said Dr. Wilson, further adding that recently, students presented a local ministry, Zoe International, with a $10,000 check to support their efforts to fight human trafficking. “These funds were raised by the efforts of our Student Leadership Council and the generosity of our community.” Because Santa Clarita Christian School is a ministry of Santa Clarita Baptist Church, “we are committed to making a quality Christian education as accessible as possible to as many Christian families as possible,” Dr. Wilson noted. “We do this through the generous support from our church members, school ministry families, and other community supporters that are committed to keeping our tuition as low as possible.” Additionally, “we have also developed The James 1:27 Fund in order to reach families in difficult seasons or disadvantaged situations by offering significant scholarship opportunities.” The ultimate goal of Santa Clarita Christian School is to glorify God by providing every child with the hope of the gospel, while simultaneously giving them a high-quality Christian education that prepares them to be fully equipped to go and serve God in whatever area God calls them to. “We believe that a school ought to do more than just aim at making good citizen that get can get good jobs and make an impact on society,” Dr. Wilson added. “We believe every person is called to the higher purpose of worshiping God, serving others, and making an eternal impact on souls.” For more information, visit sccs.cc or call (661) 252-7371.  

Business Program

The business programs are among the most popular offerings. These programs are individually ranked and assessed, earning the number one place in California based on CPA pass rates, as well as top 7% nationally overall, top 5% in marketing, and top 3% in finance, according to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. The communications program is also popular: The communication department’s production, a short film entitled “Drift,” won an award at the Cliff Film Festival, in which 13 countries participated.

Premed Program

“People also come for our premed program,” said Dr. Chou of the program that boasts a 95% graduate school acceptance rate. “We offer what a lot of other universities offer, but how we offer it

Dr. Abner Chou, left, talks with students Daniel Chow and MaKenzie Knotts at The Master’s University. PHOTO BY DAN WATSON / THE SIGNAL makes all the difference—how we offer it is we’re driven by the truth to honor God,” he said. As people continue to adjust to the global pandemic, The Master’s University is incredibly important in today’s challenging times.

The Gospel

“We’ve seen in recent days how dark the world can become; we see evil and we see hopelessness; we see wickedness,” Dr. Chou said. “We believe, as Christians, that the solution to this is the gospel—that there is hope because Jesus died taking judgment upon himself in order that sins would be dealt with and forgiven.” As a result, “when we equip students to go out to champion Christ, they are living out and announcing hope to a world that needs hope, forgiveness

and salvation.” In the immediate future, “we know that in the workforce, people are looking for employees in society that understand the truth and will work hard—their word is their bond. They want dependable people,” Dr. Chou noted. “So it’s not just about having skills. It’s about having the right character, about being the right person.” Students at The Master’s University “won’t stop, because they have a higher calling—and that’s to honor Christ. That makes a difference in the home, the workplace and society,” he added. “We need those kinds of people more. That’s why we’re training people to live hope—and as they live hope, everyone benefits.” For more information, visit www. masters.edu or call (800) 568-6248.  

Henry Mayo Hospital is a Designated STEMI Receiving Center for the Most Severe Forms of Heart Attacks BY ALICIA DOYLE

S

everal years ago, Los Angeles County Emergency Services instituted a special program whereby paramedics who identify “STEMI” heart attack patients will take them only to specially-designated STEMI Receiving Centers. “A STEMI — ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction – is the most severe form of heart attack, one in which the coronary artery is 100% clogged,” explained Tamar Avakian, NP, Cardiovascular Services Program Manager at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, a 357-bed, not-for-profit community hospital and trauma center. In December of 2013, Henry Mayo was designated a STEMI Receiving Center by Los Angeles County Emergency Services. The primary treatment for a STEMI is to re-establish blood flow with a procedure called Percutaneous Coronary Intervention – PCI. This is a cardiac procedure whereby balloon angioplasty, stents, or suction devices are used to open blockages in the coronary artery, and the faster this treatment is delivered, the better the chances of survival and minimizing long-term damage to the heart muscle. In 2020 – during the midst of the pandemic – Henry Mayo had an average “Door-to-PCI” time of 45 minutes, significantly faster than the national standard

of 60 minutes. Door-to-PCI time is the time between when a patient arrives in the Emergency Department and the time that PCI is performed on the patient’s blocked artery to re-establish blood flow. A fast door-to-PCI time is critical because “time is muscle,” meaning that the faster blood flow is restored, the less permanent damage is sustained to the heart. Achieving such rapid door-to PCI times in the midst of the pandemic underscores Henry Mayo’s commitment to providing top-notch care to the Santa Clarita Valley community. This remarkable accomplishment is “truly a team effort,” said Avakian, adding that Henry Mayo works closely with the Los Angeles County Fire Department to ensure they received EKG transmissions from the field quickly. “We are constantly seeking ways to do better, and we didn’t let the pandemic interfere with those efforts,” Avakian said. “Most of all, it takes the committed staff in our Roberta G. Veloz Cardiac Cath Lab, many of whom live close to the hospital so they can get here quickly when needed, and a committed team of physicians.” Providing great heart care involves continually finding areas to improve and save time, noted Dustin Ashenfelter, Henry Mayo’s Director of Emergency Ser-

vices. “Many people on our team live in this community and care deeply about taking care of our friends and neighbors.” Patrick Moody, Henry Mayo’s Director of Marketing, Public Relations and Community Engagement, attributes Henry Mayo’s success during the pandemic to the hospital’s employees and medical staff, “all of whom showed tremendous courage and dedication.” It also helped that Henry Mayo is an independent, standalone community hospital. “This allowed us to react quickly to changing circumstances without have to jump through bureaucratic hurdles or go through layers of approvals,” Moody noted. “Circumstances changed quickly and often during the pandemic. The ability to react quickly was crucial.” An example of reacting quickly was Henry Mayo’s opening of its COVID-19 vaccine clinic last December. “At that time there was an overwhelming demand for vaccine a shortage of places to get vaccinated,” Moody said. “So in short order we set up a clinic here on our campus to help meet the demand.” In keeping with Los Angeles County Department of Public Health guidelines, Henry Mayo’s vaccine clinic initially offered vaccination to healthcare workers and

those over 65 years of age. Later, the hospital partnered with local school districts to inoculate educators. Today, vaccination locations are readily available and almost all of them take walk-in appointments. Vaccine availably is no longer an issue. After distributing early 55,000 vaccine doses, Henry Mayo’s vaccine clinic ceased operations on June 24. “As we continue to navigate our lives during this challenging time, people can protect themselves from getting infected with COVID-19 by getting vaccinated,” Moody added “It’s now a preventable disease,” Moody emphasized. “So we strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated.”Above all, “we are proud to serve our growing community,” Moody said. “As we are coming out of the pandemic, we can renew focus on programs and services our community needs.” Soon, Henry Mayo will be announcing a new cardiac procedure that patients can have done in the hospital’s Roberta G. Veloz Cardiovascular Center. “And we’ll have more good news for our community later in the year,” Moody said. Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is located at 23845 McBean Parkway in Valencia. s the oldest, continuous running optometric office in Santa Clarita, Corben Optometry is a family practice that offers a wide range of services, including pediatric and adult eye exams. “We specialize in specialty contact lens fittings, scleral lenses, keratoconnus and corneal disorder fittings,” said Dr. Joshua Corben, O.D., who has been with the practice since 2002, and whose father, Michael, has practiced in the Santa Clarita Valley for more than four decades.

Clarita, Corben Optometry is also involved in the community’s philanthropic efforts. For instance, “we have worked with the Lions Club to offer free eye exams and glasses to community members that do not have insurance — we have done over 4,000 of these,” Dr. Corben said. Additionally, “we have been involved in various charities within the communities, including the Boys and Girls Club and Child and Family Center.” Over the years, certain business philosophies have maintained the success of Corben Optometry.

Extensively Trained Staff Customer Satisfaction His staff is trained to treat most types of eye infections and glaucoma, as well as dry eyes and allergies, and can also remove foreign bodies, such as metal or debris, from the eyes. “We carry every type of contact lens from daily lens to multifocal in the office so most of the time patients can leave the same day in contact lenses,” said Dr. Corben, who is fluent in English and Spanish.

Largest Glass Inventory

Corben Optometry also offers one of the largest inventories of glasses in the Santa Clarita Valley from every price point. “We have an in-house edging system to allow for fast and convenient return of made glasses,” said Dr. Corben, adding that they also co-manage cataract, Lasik and eyelid surgeries with some of the premiere surgeons in the Los Angeles area. “We will find the right surgeon for your needs.” Corben Optometry is especially unique because “we are on all vision panels, and with the changing insurance environment, we can service our patients as they navigate the vision insurance landscape,” Dr. Corben noted.

Philanthropic Activities

In addition to serving patients throughout Santa

“The most important thing is making sure the patient is happy — we believe that our patients are family and we should treat them as such,” Dr. Corben emphasized. “I live and work within the community and see the direct effect on our abilities to keep the ocular health and vision of our patients.” Corben Optometry has been established for five decades, “and we have seen the community grow and change,” he noted. “This growth has been important for the growth of the practice. Also, we see multi-generational families that return to us year after year.”

Complete Eyecare

Above all, the ultimate goal at Corben Optometry “is to become the place for your all your eye care needs in the Santa Clarita Valley.” As far as the future is concerned, “we always want to adapt with new technology and grow,” Dr. Corben added, “and maintain the high level of expertise and train all of the staff at the office to be able to answer and help any patient that walks in the door.” For more information, visit corbenoptometry. com or call (661) 2592168.  

Go Dental Delivers Beautiful Results for your Smile BY ALICIA DOYLE

G

o Dental is a general dentistry dental office that delivers beautiful results for your smile. The office is home to a team of experts, including Dr. Derek Frump, Dr. Ryan Monti and Dr. Christopher Go. “Our practice is based on honesty and listening to the desires of our patients,” said Dr. Go, adding that Go Dental serves the entire Santa Clarita Valley, with other patients coming from the San Fernando Valley and the Westside. “We work hard to understand what our patient’s goals are and formulate a plan that will yield long lasting results at an affordable price.” The most popular procedures at Go Dental are cosmetic smiles, Invisalign, and the placement and restoration of dental implants. “We are one of the only dental practices in the country to use custom surgical guides to place all our implants offering unparalleled accuracy and optimum final results,” Dr. Go explained. “We begin by getting a three-dimensional digital image of the patient’s mouth, then we digitally

From left, Dr. Christopher Go, DDS, Dr. Ryan Monti, Ph.D, DDS and Dr. Derek Frump, DDS at Go Dental in Valencia. PHOTO BY DAN WATSON / THE SIGNAL place the implant in the ideal location in the bone,” he continued. “We then transmit this file to a manufacturer in Boston, who fabricates a physical guide that replicates the digital results in the patient’s mouth. The bottom line is that when we place dental implants, we are able to place them quickly, painlessly with optimal results at a very competitive cost.” When the COVID 19 crisis first hit in March of 2020, dental practices around the country were ordered closed unless strict new precautions were enforced including clean air filters, full-length surgical gowns, N95 masks, face shield

coverings — and thorough sterilization measures which when far beyond anything dentistry has ever seen, were now required. “Our practice was able to quickly acquire the necessary PPE and make changes to our facility,” Dr. Go remembered. “As a result, we became the referral source for dental emergencies for Henry Mayo Hospital.” Go Dental has the same values as the Santa Clarita Valley community, “which is not surprising since we were founded in the Santa Clarita Valley,” Dr. Go noted. “Like our community, we take pride in what we do and value honesty and

integrity above all else. We don’t over-treatment plan or try and sell patients on procedures that offer little to no benefit. “We are here to serve the community we live in and love. We value your trust as our neighbors and as our patients.” Over the years, “it’s our integrity and honesty that have made us successful,” he emphasized. “This comes from the fact that we listen closely to our patients and spend time understanding what their dental desires are. Once we understand this, we can offer treatment that often exceeds their expectations.” Go Dental will always strive to provide the best service and deliver the best dentistry outcomes for patients. “We do this by incorporating the best advancements in dental technology with doctors who know how to utilize the technology to its fullest potential,” Dr. Go said. “But we know that it’s our people that make the most impact on the patient’s experience. We will always go the extra mile to make our patients leave with a smile.” For more information, call (661) 535-0100, or visit www. thedentist.com.  
