2018 A Year in Review and A LOOK AHEAD TO 2019
The word TRANSITION seems to come up in conversation with many of the real estate professionals we speak with daily. Transition is all around us at this time – a period of change from one state to another. On a national level the transitions are evident in the dramatic stock market fluctuations, which impacts most of us via our savings and feelings of financial security. Other examples are the unknown income and property tax implications, trade wars, and political changes occurring on a daily basis. In addition, mortgage interest rates have increased and therefore have diminished the purchaser’s buying power. Locally in 2019 Nassau County will be undergoing a countywide reassessment of property values, which will in turn affect property taxes. Some homeowners will be effected positively, but for many residents property taxes will be increased. As the average sales price in Nassau County in 2018 climbed to $667,768, which is a 1.7% increase from 2017, we are seeing more and more buyers consider moving further east to Suffolk County where the average sales price in 2018 was $465,570, up 2.7% from 2017. Our Company is also going through a transition – one of growth and opportunity. Signature Premier Properties opened its doors 11 years ago with one office.
